and according to at least this exit poll data we just received mr zelinsky did even better than the opinion polls predicted before this wrong off so we are getting closer and closer to actually seeing is president in action and that's what his supporters are calling him these are the first two letters of his name and if you were just listening to the dribble and speech by all of them or is lens a few minutes ago. he address the former soviet republics he said look out us everything is possible because we've seen nothing like that in the post soviet countries. this is really something special going back to the numbers once again so then scoring just over seventy two percent and the current president petro poroshenko twenty seven judging by how the votes were counted in the first round

the first official results probably after just a few percent being counted we will hear about them in the next two hours and then more and more data will come in during the night yeah we i mean we certainly will and it was interesting hearing speak you know having discussed this in a few days like we did and and seeing him on netflix because that's very acting as the president and i actually mean he's thinking everybody things parents. about you that you know a lot of yeah but this was an interesting phrase and i promise never to let you down i mean that. of a movie isn't it straight out of a movie we just want to go through. the background of both these men who were running for president in the second round petro poroshenko the current president and it looks like he's going to be losing that job he came to power as

a result of the mind on revolution in two thousand and fourteen but he wasn't really a child of that revolution because his political experience dates back to the late ninety's he never had top of the most high ranking positions in government but he was always there you know somewhere out there closer to the government closer to the president and he wasn't the leader of the money down revolution either but he was allied with them and this generated a lot of support for him when he ran for president in two thousand and fourteen and that was an easy win for him he won in the first round and obviously that was a reason for a very high xpect. he was expected to turn what's going on in the country around he was expected to get rid of corruption in fact he's a wealthy businessman himself a billionaire he was expected to give up his business but it looks like he lost all

the support of ukrainians in these five years and he was able to deliver on these promises the most of the promise of him was to end the war in east ukraine which is still going on as we understand now if you look at all the dimmers alinsky we keep saying that he doesn't have any political experience whatsoever but i've watched his shows since i was a kid. my grandparents are from ukraine and when i went there their favorite show was comedy and can i ask you though because you've watched him since you were a kid and you just watched him speak as a potential president how does not feel. well it is surreal because nobody expected this we're going to come back to that in a sense because again it is his show the servant of the people that really started all this but with the point that i wanted to make most of his jokes were about

politicians in power and this is why i believe it is fair to say that he did have some sort of political experience because he was in politics in that sense but it all became even. i would assume that. he pretty much became a politician in two thousand and fifteen when that t.v. show came out it was about ordinary teacher of history at school who suddenly becomes president just because the people are sick of what's going on and who would have known back then when that t.v. series came out that it's all going to play out like that three and a half years later he's there and it looks like he's going to clinch and he's going to get i mean you know obviously it's going to be quite interesting to see what the results come through it really is. how do you think right now.

well he was nervous and he was trying to make the moves to turn this around during these three weeks ahead of the second round but it's been said by many journalists and by many observers that some of the things that people behind his campaign came up with weren't that effective and if we look at the results of the first round of course the margin was big back then so in fact we were expecting the incumbent ukrainian president to come up with some sort of reckless moves game changers but instead the first one came from both of them are selenski who released a short video asking mr poroshenko pretty much daring him to have national debates on a stadium what he said was you have twenty four hours to decide and then people were guessing whether portugal's ready for this given the lack of support he was

probably afraid of some sort of booing but then really in the morning i think it was between three and four am. came out with his own video where he said let it be stadium and why they were counting on these stadium debates is also clear poroshenko thought as a mature politician he's going to crush the ski probably we were expecting him to dig into numbers dig into some other ways of governing the country that selenski might be on aware of but instead these debates there was no clear winner and that's why as a result of this the numbers didn't really change that much from the opinion polls from that kind of data that we've been getting ahead of this yet we choose interesting because you can never be too sure but i mean just looking at these first exit polls and yes it can change obviously but it's quite incredible the margin is just. very big but yes we're waiting for the official results and we're

waiting for portion calls reaction we've heard selenski reaction of course the ukrainian president will have to come out and say something and maybe even admit that he's been defeated he might have to admit it and i think you know what you said. the fact that this do you if you like this this dad. was the president who was actually on the fact that. this is very unusual and it's also very unusual in the sense that selenski became much more aggressive but probably he had the reasons to do so and to change his tone because it was clear after the first round that his supporters to scroll one nonstop and he realized that he can go in for the kill and that's why he was doing things like that his short videos he didn't appear on t.v. that much his first proper t.v. appearance not as a comedian not

a someone who's taken part in or starring in his own show but as a proper presidential candidate it only happened last thursday just think of it well which again is for a whole nation for the present as we see seen in the polls it's quite incredible to see such a turnaround. well but perhaps people were even it is fair to say that some of them were sick with portion calls constant attempts to appear on t.v. to try and do something to change this there was one particular moment where. it was just unbelievable he appeared on a t.v. show in fact that was a channel that is always by an ally of selenski and he asked the hosts the anchors to make a phone call to mr and then ski and he said i want you to come to the studio right now all of them are zelinsky refused but some people thought it was very bold and

he looked like a real man or president but at the same time people said what are you door and so i'm not sure if that was the moment when he won points or he lost points many many strange things like that were happening were happening story in the course of the preparations for the one well we are going to keep across this obviously over the course of the evening thank you very much i'm sure you'll be joining me a bit later and we'll come back and keep you across these exit polls. the latest developments now from easter sunday a bomb attacks in sri lanka and local police now say the number of deaths from the blast on churches and hotels has increased to two hundred and seven this is video that we're showing now is of the first blast at the same time in the church in the heart of the sri lankan capital colombo eight blasts in total rocked the country on sunday a twelve curfew was declared immediately afterwards and access has temporarily been

blocked to social networks including facebook for fear of fake news spreading many of the victims were from the christian minority who were celebrating their day dozens of foreigners are among the dead and we should warn you that the following images are disturbing. the. of the. us. thirteen people have been arrested in connection with the attacks this is video of the suspect attained during an operation in the capital suburb of denver to go to there are also reports there are also reports that police found a truck which they suspect may have been planned for use in the attacks sri lanka's

defense minister has said the culprits were religious extremists while the country's prime minister has promised that the people behind the attack will face a stern response. the first explosion occurred around nine am local time in total five blasts at the capital including a church and three luxury hotels the latest attack also happened in colombo at an apartment block during a police raid which left three officers dead about forty kilometers north in the city of negara another place of worship was hit as was article a zero popular tourist destination on the opposite side of the island and following that a small hotel in front of a zoo was targeted. this is the aftermath of one of the explosions and no group has as yet claimed responsibility for the attacks lanka is a mainly buddhist country less than ten percent of the population

president part of the high here has nearly twenty seven percent and if you've been watching you just saw him concede accept defeat and said that he was going to congratulate his opponent and call him on his victory he also said that he will stay in politics and continue to fight so he will step down as we just said that minute at the press conference next month and later as president because that's what the country wanted and we will obviously be bringing more details about that vote later on in the evening. now in other news after a two year investigation and almost nonstop media coverage of the so-called russia gate scandal the heavily redacted miller report finally sorted it out the document dropped on thursday revealing that there was no cooperation between donald trump or any american with russians in the twenty sixteen presidential election. special counsel's report states that is quote investigation did not establish that members

of the trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the russian government in its election interference activities. but i'll try and isn't off the hook in the eyes of the democrats and many media outlets a few days ago the u.s. house judiciary committee issued a subpoena for the unredacted report to be made available as many parts of the published version had been blacked out the focus now shifts to the possible obstruction of investigation by the us president more in all of that from our senior correspondent mark gaston. two years america waited for this hoped and prayed it would make trump all exonerate him that the new report would end this two year long drama about collusion hacking and conspiracy people would get closure what america got was this

president slumped back in his chair and said oh my god this is terrible this is the end of my presidency i'm. you know this report has wounded trump politically the democrats smell blood they have trump and like blood hounds still mercilessly dog him for obstruction and anyone that gets in the way the messenger included the administration has a new face and a new messenger and long with a lot more stature he's the country's attorney general he said half a dozen times no collision no question no lawyer no legal presentation presenting its conclusion six times the attorney general getting out there and getting his narrative his take on it as vigorously as possible because attorney general barr wants to represent our trouble i think he should resign they are calling for to resign a traitor a sellout they scream and they want mueller himself the da.
