a truce with australian militant group hamas after a weekend of deadly exchanges which seemed more than twenty palestinians and four israelis killed in large scale air strikes and missile attacks. russia's foreign minister and his u.s. counterpart have just begun talks at a meeting in finland with the ongoing crisis in that as well expected to top the agenda. you're watching our two international coming to you live from the russian capital where it's just turned six pm welcome to the program. their brains of all forty one people killed in sunday's plane fire in moscow have now been recovered from the charred wreckage of the air flight aircraft during its attempted landing this to hoist superjet burst into flames after its tel struck the runway the plane was carrying seventy eight passengers and crew. thirty seven people survived the
11:02 am
disaster they're being treated for smoke inhalation burns and shock people have been laying flowers and tributes at sheremetyevo airport and at the airport and more months where the plane was supposed to land some people came simply to pay their respects here's how the tragedy unfolded and just to warn you you may find some of the scenes upsetting. when the plane was in the air i saw a white flash a most of the morning. we certainly had the windows i just turned my head and all of
11:03 am
a sudden i saw the burning plane with huge plumes of black smoke. over the city down. with an investigation underway at three main theories are being focused on at this point pilot error a systems malfunction and bad weather at all the latest here's mine got stiff. as a lot of testimony a lot of witness accounts that are coming out now important not to jump to conclusions but the most reliable source is the captain for example he has. made comments he has said that during the takeoff there was no hint of trouble i mean things. nominal was functional not
11:04 am
a hint of trouble and all of that changed just after takeoff as they were sending climbing higher and higher they were struck by lightning. the lightning caused wrecked havoc on the system on the aircraft's electronic systems seemingly all of them for example it should circuited the radio communications gear and even the backups didn't work. we had no communication we managed to restore through the emergency frequency on the second radio station and it was intermittent that is after turning on the transmitter it was only possible to say a few words before losing contact and having to reconnect the dispatches helped us they gave us directions to get to the runway that was only a part of it because the lightning strike took down other systems including navigation including pilot guidance and all of these systems help
11:05 am
a pilot land an aircraft especially nowadays when there's so complicated so. difficult to control manually what the pilot was left with was manual control he had to land this aircraft that had almost all of its systems offline and was incredibly heavy because the fuel tanks will fall. ill advised to land an aircraft with a fuel tank for what aircraft generally do is they circle above a city or an airport burning that excess fuel off making the aircraft lighter so it's easier to land for whatever reason they decided that they couldn't do that they couldn't afford to waste time they went for the landing and unfortunately as you see the. tragedy struck they bumped the rear of the aircraft bumped against the concrete. and the fuel tanks ruptured fuel spilled and poured all over the back section of the. given the heat here the pressure the speed the friction no surprise
11:06 am
that it ignited it ignited or not is when the true horror began because all of these people they thought that they had made it that they had landed and suddenly they were surrounded by an inferno i mean a stewardess spoke about how people were absolutely terrified of what was happening we have heard is passengers expressing gratefulness thanks to the cabin crew to the stewardess colleagues who stayed by and she said she grabbed people by the cuffs of the necks and dragged them out of the aircraft there's another should in the back is it's a very big story in russia he tried to force open a door in the back of the aircraft and he couldn't do it he tried and tried to give up and he started pushing people from the back in order to get them to the front to hurry them up he unfortunately perished he was very young in all forty one people
11:07 am
died in this tragedy thirty seven made it out and out of the seventy eight passengers and crew that were on board but as i say it could have been even worse. i'm grateful to this pilot they waited to crash land in this city and saved lives perhaps there was pilot error but let's wait for the official findings things could have been so much worse. they're looking at three courses for this the first one is pilot error pilot on the qualification of the pilot perhaps have hadn't had enough training to land this aircraft manually with it being so heavy via the thing that they're looking at ease the weather how the weather may have caused this this incident and the last thing is that the aircraft may have malfunction something may have been wrong with it before it took off something may have happened. in the air we shouldn't jump to conclusions the investigation is still
11:08 am
ongoing speculate it's too early to speculate and to guess probably wait for the official findings they've recovered both black boxes and they've also recovered the bodies of all forty one died in this tragedy. right now you can see on your screen lies pictures from chairman to the airport showing what remains of the plane as you can see the entire back half of the jet was demolished by the fire and if you look closely you can see the door near the front of the plane from which the passengers escaped you can see that there are also burn marks around that door making it clear that it is a miracle that anyone was able to survive that fire and escape from it as we have mentioned the end is ongoing and you can see all of the emergency services and officials around the plane who are at likely trying to figure out exactly what happened and caused this tragic fire. here's a seating plan of the plane and acadian what happened to the occupants of the

11:10 am
aviation safety investigator david gleave says the investigation will pursue a number of avenues as to the cause of the crash before offering any final verdict the airplane may have been quite difficult to land with all the electrical problems that it has i believe the flight control system was working ok but not in the usual mode of operation so it's quite right that the investigation will take some time to look at how the pilots were trained to land the airplane in particular software how

recent accidents some of them seem to be the malton level all. equipment and the pilot training associated with that i would say that also the media are able to pick up and report the accident much more easily so the accident rate is going up slightly recently but not significantly so we haven't gone ten dollars twenty is anything let's get a little more evidence from the flight recorders in the cockpit voice recorder interviews of the crew and then let the interstate aviation committee discuss with the russian certification committee what should happen to the airplane russia's health minister has visited the emergency hospital or the cross survivors are receiving treatment artist quarter reports from their. behind me is the hospital where two survivors are being treated in critical condition in another location the pilot copilot and a stewardess are being treated for shock as well as poisoning now in total thirty
11:12 am
seven out of seventy eight crew and passengers survived this crash but many with serious psychological as well as physical injuries now russia's health minister says that friends and family should also seek help as many of them are most likely in a state of utter shock was not to flood gifts that you don't get that it's not just the victims that need psychological assistance but that relatives too including for example the wife amman in critical condition being cad at the institute all of them are in a state of shock they can't process what's happened now across social media people have released videos of passengers fleeing the burning jet crew members quickly carried out the evacuation plan and you can see how chaotic the situation was in these videos there were also reports that passengers scrambling for their luggage also contributed to the discord now earlier today we spoke to one man who brought flowers in tribute to the airport although he had no familial ties to the victims of his own there's nothing more heard on the side of the mystery that could have
11:13 am
happened a new one so how tragic when fate takes an unexpected turn like this is what life is all a matter of luck and can and just like that i would like to have someone brought me flowers or something like this happened to me as for the relatives about fifty of them arrived earlier this morning from water months where the city has declared a three day period of mourning for those who died emergency services met with them at the airport to help them in the painful process of identifying the bodies of those who were lost. in. israel and palestinian militant group hamas have reportedly reached a truth after two days of intense cross border exchanges including bombing raids by the israel defense forces children are among the twenty seven thought to have been killed in gaza four people were also killed in israel.
11:14 am
you can see the impact of the windows from the explosion that took place from outside the previous floor as a result of the explosion. palestinian militants began their missile strikes from the gaza strip on saturday morning residential areas were hit mostly in the south of israel israel's air force targeted multiple sites in gaza in retaliatory strikes r.t. as paul slayer reports. we have heard an announcement from the israeli army that it is lifting all restrictions for residents of the south of israel who live within a forty kilometer radius of gaza now this does confirm that the truce that was
11:15 am
brokered at around four fifteen monday morning is holding up it was brokered by egypt and the united nations press has been the bloodiest weekend of violence on the israeli side it for israelis were killed which is the highest fatality israel has suffered since the last israel gaza war back in two thousand and fourteen but on the palestinian side twenty four palestinians were killed including a pregnant woman and a child the street scene was indescribably people were afraid and terrified and running and everyone was looking for their children nobody was able to see others and after the first struck it hit everyone started screaming children and adults when the building collapsed nobody was able to see one another. big of them. know the situation to do what they know we can do is to cross our fingers they will succeed we're not calm anymore we do trust the army we do hope benjamin netanyahu
11:16 am
will take care of it but we are really worried from the rockets now overnight bomb shelters were opened here in tel aviv which is some eighty kilometers from the gaza border after hamas threatened that it would target the city and that's also published in hebrew the coordinates of those sites in israel if planned to attack and these include have been going on international airport and also delano where it's all is believed to house its nuclear arsenal although this of course has never been confirmed by the israeli side late last night the israeli security cabinet wrapped up what the israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu saying that the israeli army would keep up its attacks. this morning i instructed the i.d.f. to continue its intensity against terror targets in the gaza strip and to expand its presence surrounding the gaza strip with armored forces. hilary and troops we are operating and we will continue to do so to restore peace and security to residents in the south of the country now the next two weeks are very busy and. we

interrupt that report to go to russia's foreign minister third get lavrov he has just been speaking with the u.s. secretary of state my pump air let's listen in to what you have to say possible mention to mention in venezuela. we didn't focus on statements to say making public statements but. there are many factors in play. factors which very often didn't have. any bearing on real politics we tried to focus on real politics but now i have a question in my pump air was speaking in front of cameras and he said that rush's. rule of permission in the carriage trade is illegal so i can. just reply what i just said we didn't discuss politicized statements you made in public we focused on specific

action so we didn't discuss the northern syria we will discuss those issues tomorrow the northern syria russian transport route we as a lateral state fully in line with international law are in charge of security just like canada is in charge of the northwestern part. we will make sure that passage international's vessels in the fall in line. with the nineteen eighty two. lore of the sea. with all international norms this is our responsibility we must provide a secure passage. not he washington goes

ahead with military intervention in venezuela what leverage does russia have to stop it. some call your channel fake news but what you said is a fake question well jokes aside we are categorically against any military action it's only the un security council that can authorize military action or it could be. in response to an aggression from sovereign states we don't see any such situation in venezuela. and from what i heard talking to. latin american european and american counterparts i don't see any. proponents of. all out military
11:20 am
option so i hope that we all share this understanding. and i hope that this will be translated into real politics it would be disastrous. do you american diplomats have this kind of understanding yes what about the meeting between the trump. would the presidents agreed to meet when they have such an opportunity to i'm sure there will be. we will be inform you the kremlin will inform you thank you. we've just been listening to sergey lavrov making comments in finland he has just met with his u.s. counterpart. he talked about the fact that they are categorically against military action happening and that as well saying only that the u.n. could actually authorize anything like that and that he's been talking to both his u.s. and venezuela counterparts neither of them seeing
11:21 am
a military option right now now he also mentioned the fact that there could be further talks tomorrow with my pump air and said that trump and putin agree to meet when an opportunity does arise he also did say that they are trying to focus on specific actions and not on politicise statements at this point in time now lavrov met with his venezuelan counterpart on sunday and both diplomats stress that dialogue is key. people sentiment is also going to. make you know. that. the reason. for. that as well soldiers have been making a display of their loyalty to president maduro burning a copy of a letter from opposition leader one guardo handed to them by some of his supporters
11:22 am
. earlier of lot of near putin discussed the venezuelan crisis with donald trump by phone with the u.s. president calling the talks positive. go has more on that and efforts to break venezuela's deadlock. what if all the key stakeholders don't only talk on the phone but get to meet maybe even more than once and actually end up agreeing on something might come pale and. don't get in touch that often nowadays but just last week they were on the phone and there you have it they're meeting face to face just a few days after vladimir putin and donald trump didn't talk for about five months after the g. twenty in argentina last week it was time to get back to business the two presidents were on the phone for more than an hour he is. not looking at all to get involved in venezuela other than he'd like to see something positive happen for
11:23 am
venezuela. and i feel the same way so we want to help with a humanitarian basis and i thought it was a very positive conversation i had with president putin on venezuela sounds quite optimistic probably even too much was president putin able to convince him speculation over russia's involvement and venezuela is way too overblown wait only the day before we heard this from america's number one diplomat we need to make sure there's not an invasion intent as well and yet there have been when. it took place that you wouldn't invaded some time ago the russians have now followed suit and in the meantime mr lab rob was saying this. we've got to keep discussing the situation in venezuela but i don't see how we can find a common approach where no policies based on the principles of international law and the u.s. line is to appoint someone as an interim president in another country threaten to use military force along with choking sanctions to overthrow the congress seems.
11:24 am
washington is trying to convince the world the way they've been pulling the strings in venezuela has nothing to do with the word coup yet as usual they're leaving all options on the table including the use of force. military action is possible if that's what's required that's what the united states will do those who are not venezuelan should know is all options are on the table secretary of state is in close contact with the pentagon he was among the officials who were briefed by the u.s. southern command quote unquote on a wide range of military options as the command continues to monitor activities on the ground and as well self-imposed venezuelan leader one of like bill has been hinting he would be happy if washington stepped in militarily and you don't rule out a military intervention because it's entirely clear what the madeira regime is about
11:25 am
anyway it's clear for him that would probably be the best case scenario after several failed attempts to get the army on his side. one of like bill called himself the president of venezuela three and a half months ago and time isn't on his side giving the orders as head of state hasn't yet helped him actually become one president nicolas maduro and his supporters have so far been able to withstand most of the pressure a few more failed attempts to start a coup or energize a genuinely nationwide protest may lead to second thoughts about mr within the opposition whether he'll ever choose to back down himself. that's a tough one speaking of nicolas maduro this man doesn't look like someone who ever be the first one to raise the white flag making concessions though when he's completely pushed to the wall that's more like it. that's our global news update
11:26 am
for now but don't forget you can always had to our website r.t. dot com for details on all those stories and many more thanks for tuning in. what politicians do. they put themselves on the line they get accepted or rejected . so when you want to be president or injury. or somehow want to. have to go right to the press this is like the hopeful tree in the morning can't be good. i'm interested always in the waters in the hollow. there should be more. this is is a sticker from the water bottle phone in the stomach of the fish the brand is part

we have the chilling effect of monopoly on our ship of the so-called mainstream media the chilling effect of the state broadcast of the b.b.c. the chilling effect of regulator like of com which regulates this program today for example the chilling effect of the new regulator of the internet the our press are judged by the government's statement in the week supposedly to fight fake news but actually to enshrine fake news and along with ineluctably you might say the journalist profession going like sheep into the pen on the principle that you've got to go along to get along so i think we're in real trouble here in the west so far as freedom of expression is concerned ok michael in london you're
