10:30 pm
diplomatic options political options options with our allies and then ultimately a set of options that would involve the use of the us military were preparing those for him so that when the situation arises we're not what put it. when he says not if that's an interesting choice of words there mikey but is there any weight behind these w w we stop political promos per war or is this nothing more than sunday talk show bravado by the resident chicken hawks of capitol hill let's find out as we start watching the hawks. the for. real with this one. as it were to pull out of. the day like you that i got. with. this.
10:31 pm
well government watching the hawks i am tired and i'm tap until. i get scared when behind me and i make. bold and come sneaking up behind you pointing out is rather unnerving i mean i'm just sick of seeing him quite frankly like he's ben in the political process here for too long and he's accomplished very little aside from making him self a bull and this whole thing and we've watched you know we watch c.n.n. and imus have big c. and fox news and everybody just obsessed over the us like are we going to war with iran all these things here's was interesting so we have foreign policy analysts and international observers who have correctly pointed out something a little bit interesting about this whole were sending strike force says the lincoln strike group's deployment to around. it was already announced the like.
10:32 pm
before we went on their. sunday evening more. and nobody can say what exactly the actions are that would have prompted this this whole you know whatever is referring to we can't say what it's for and they were already on their way there it's scheduled maintenance it's literally a scheduled maintenance and then they go back into their normal deployment it's not new they were moved there for a specific reason it was literally just what it was already there and he just used to make it seem as if it were something that was happened earlier with north korea remember you know about last year so c.n.n. quoted on they have the officials always hopeful on monday saying there were specific and credible targets so doing the work of the trumpet ministration specifically mr bolton said that they were targeting u.s. forces in syria and iraq and at sea and on land and there was a lamp and i don't know what else by the way this is the same c.n.n.
10:33 pm
who who had to correct a little bit a reporting earlier when they incorrectly said that following elections in january that voters chose opposition. over for president was interesting they just invented an election that never happened and they realized it was never part of an election that's not actually what happened so somebody at the end it's up to reporters to write that to reporters didn't notice such a massive error in reporting just movements that were not their sources or do you know i don't even know that anonymous sources. his sources. it's interesting because speaking of venezuela that leads right into the over the weekend doing essentially kind of the same thing to. the bolton did of just kind of this idea of warhawk in going well military use could be on the table it is on the table relieving that option open. you know one pump it was asked of the president believed you had authority to attack venezuela. without the expressed approval of
10:34 pm
congress quote i don't want to speak to i'm very confident that any action we took in venezuela would be lawful. so now so the answer is no sorry i didn't think that so once again we have a president who thinks that they can rule by executive order whose cabinet thinks that they can just decide when people get droned when they get murdered whether you accept citizens when we decide who's going to be in charge somewhere great so literally no change and no it's almost like obama never left wow. what's going to do it but the congress is actually a few members of congress are actually stepping up against the do a better way would put military forces are in fact representative david. rhode island is introduced a bill that would actually specifically prevent trump from sending u.s. forces to venezuela without explicit you know rest of the approval which is technically what is supposed to happen here in the united states we've kind of been
10:35 pm
ignoring. nine eleven that was also been ignoring international law which is super important kind of important for you know things people to live together in a nice way all the rule of law that we all agree on. so mary ellen of notre dame law school professor there is a renowned expert on the subject of international law she told the university of notre dame news agency that international law permits force in response to an armed attack in self defense not for regime change to secure oil or even to distribute food they have no we have no business. entering militarily and of the situation we are not invited there this is lou this is how the worst of our wars get started and on top of it you have bono wants out of it to promote an impromptu we're going to have two wars one in the middle east one in south america and we don't have money for anything but somehow we have another few trillion dollars and another decade to lose fighting on and then wars for nothing also save
10:36 pm
people for democracy and. this. during the twenty sixteen election politicians promised coalmining states like montana and west virginia that america was really going to dig coal again now two years later a new report from the institute for energy economics and financial analysis shows for the first time in u.s. history renewable energy sectors which include hydroelectric biomass wind solar and geothermal are outperforming coal according to the report in april of two thousand and nineteen renewables provided two thousand three hundred twenty two thousand megawatt hours per day while coal only produced one thousand nine hundred ninety seven thousand megawatt hours per day which makes sense as we've recently saw the u.s. consumption for coal fell below this seven hundred million tonnes per year for the first time in four decades i.e.e.e. as a research analyst dennis once said states in the report that five years ago this never
10:37 pm
would have been close to happening the transition that's going on in the electric sector in the united states has been phenomenal it is also estimated that the u.s. will break its previous record for most closings of coal mines and power plants and according to the energy information administration they believe that coal fired electricity will drop from thirty nine percent of the mix in two thousand and fourteen to twenty seven percent this year and twenty nineteen so when it comes to the choice between coal and renewables the energy sector seems to be preparing for the future all our politicians just can't seem to take their pick between coal and . anything but coal. this is great news for environment folks who care about the environment things like people like clean air but the thing that blows my mind about this is what two years ago in two thousand and sixteen will probably see a repeat of that in two thousand and twenty if nothing changes but that's all everyone of the focus on was saving the jobs of coal miners while the rest of us were going like even uses coal anymore in the energy for the future you know the
10:38 pm
idea was that we sold a lot to china now as that was where the big thing was will keep most of because china still using a lot of coal via sleep but we're not now and it's sort of silly at this point. we have you know time after time now one thing to keep in mind about these numbers at least number specifically for this month is they always tend to drop with coal this time here in the spring a lot of called plants are purposely taken offline for maintenance because it's the least amount of time we need that we've gotten past the cold to use them and we're not into the the summer season where people are using their air conditioners again so that's part of it but there is a huge shift that we've been seeing and it's not just coal mines it's coal plants it's anything to do with coal that people are getting away from and more and more energy sector companies and places and nonprofits are moving toward renewables
10:39 pm
because they're more efficient they're less money yeah and that's that's kind of like you know when you see the damage that we've done over the years use of coal mining and all that kind of thing breathlessly know no more what do you do what it what do you do when you have to close call mine there has to be an answer to there are actually because you know a lot of people bring up that thing is like ok well we're putting these coal miners out of jobs what do we do all of this we'll just this past monday governor of washington the state of washington and president candidate jay inslee had this to say about how washington handled the transition from cold renewables let's take a listen. well school for. sure. it washed but we have made sure that we get prince edition plan for the families who work there are sometimes for generations and that community we've created a fifty five million dollar fund to help those families in job training and education and ways to build small businesses and ways to help their local community for infrastructure because these are good americans we need to respect them care
10:40 pm
for them and hope to through this transition. so again we're sitting there one thing is washington can sort of say like they've done it they've closed down a number of coal plants power plants and and then it is it's it's not as easy as just saying well we're going to help you with pensions we're going to help you it's a cumulative a fact and so i think a lot of politicians are failing because they're returning and they're sent to you know alexandra. come to kentucky and talk to a coal miners have. kentucky but it's a thing where you it turns into a pandering it's a tool to use against your opponent not something to really think about the long term which is sad because the truth is we can we can't rest on our laurels from an environmental standpoint because the reason coal went down a big chunk of that is natural gas and fracking so we're still using a fossil fuel but at least it's not quite burned slightly less
10:41 pm
horribly than that but i would be nice to get those numbers down but if we've we've we've driven so much up in renewables we just have to keep making them more palatable for people yes we do and what you know what's really interesting is as we can see behind you we've got you know basically. air power you know women realize that all of this is you know we sort of this is so rare of them what i was like well people are building roads but what's really interesting top is actually you would you could not go to the state that is like the leading the way in windmill technology or technology. definitely not texas definitely is texas. texas home about a quarter of all wind power capacity in the country with the ability to generate twenty five thousand megawatts so we're seeing that. in renewable energy resources i mean. when you see in a place like texas which is known for oil you know when they are
10:42 pm
a vase state for oil when big oil says big wind makes more sense. this is good news good notes good saves the papers are just going to read court watchers don't forget to let us know what you think of the topics we've covered on facebook you tube and twitter and then come see our poll shows that are to dot com coming up we bounce around the globe with the latest from north korea israel palestine and the larger than life story of the himalayas states in the hopes. to make this manufacture consent to stick to the public well. when the ruling

classes protect themselves. in the final. listen to the one percent. we can all middle of the room sit. room. so what we've got to do is identify the threats that we have it's crazy on sunday shouldn't let it be an arms race. spearing dramatic developments only really i'm going to resist i don't see how that strategy will be successful very critical time time to sit down and talk.

a heartbeat the apollo eleven landing on to the snacks and stacy. kim jong un and north korea are back making headlines again hawk watches but not just for nuclear deals missile tests and saber rattling according to the united nations roughly forty percent of north korea's population is now in urgent need of food after the country suffered its worst harvest in a decade united nations relief agencies told the media that quote the situation could further deteriorate during the lean season from may to september if no proper and urgent humanitarian actions are taken un security council sanctions have deprived the north koreans government from major sources of income and that has played a significant role in the country's ability to import food during a chronic food shortages the nation has faced in the past joining us now from miami
10:46 pm
to bring us the latest on north korea's recent headline making actions is r.t. america correspondent. thank you for joining us john. well you're welcome good to be with you again always a pleasure john no of course the big news of the week was that north korea conducted yet another missile to. the missiles were short range of a right to judge what we know so far about the details of the latest launch yet tyrell in time and we know that north korea launched several short range missiles as you were just talking about and some rockets into the sea of japan from fifty miles to about one hundred thirty miles off shore this happened saturday morning local time in north korea which would have been friday evening here and also tested the use of tactical guided weapons though there's differing of opinions about what exactly those weapons were that were being tested u.s. secretary of state mike pompei o said over the weekend that at no point was there any international boundary that was crossed with north korea's missile test as
10:47 pm
there has been in the past there was never a threat to the u.s. or japan as there has been a prat past and he says that the missiles again were not intercontinental ballistic missiles as north korea have tested has tested in the past firing missiles actually over japan still clearly raises questions if this was perhaps an attempt by kim jong un to basically push forward some kind of breakthrough in the stalled negotiations with the united states after as you recall president trump walked out on the vietnam summit back in february or that perhaps can john is just showing frustration with the lack of continued talks so at this point you know that remains to be seen you guys what has the internet access and our national reaction been to this task and of course i guess the big question now is how has this task affected the trump administration's relationship with north korea as these talks on. well
10:48 pm
president trump tweeted over the weekend he tweeted saturday that i and he said this quote i believe that kim jong un feel fully realizes the great economic potential of north korea and will do nothing to interfere and did he also knows that i am with him and does not want to break his promise to me deal will happen so if you take the president around at his word you know that that quote unquote bromance continues if you will well that said yesterday on a.b.c. news this week u.s. secretary of state my palm pale maintain that the u.s. will continue to pursue diplomatic efforts with north korea here is what he said listen this. well we don't think we still believe that there's an opportunity to get him to go shoot it out come where we get fully for verify denuclearization cermak him has repeated that he's repeated that quite recently in fact and so we hope that this act that he took over the weekend won't get in the way we want to
10:49 pm
get back at the time we want to continue to have these conversations the sanctions the global sanctions put on put in place by the u.n. security council they're still in place. and me the issues of the sanctions on north korea and north korea really remain a major stumbling block in the negotiations between the u.s. and north korea so whether that changes you know also remains to be seeing as you know it's interesting because i think one of the reasons i in my estimation of this is you know it's possible that he's launching these rockets because as you mentioned earlier weapons food shortages that are about to become true but how you get we've got to get back to the table you have everybody look at me i'm still here we've got to figure this out is there any idea what comes next out of this you know kim jong un is now met with the chinese leaders from china you know met with vladimir putin in russia u.s. leaders you know what is next is there going to be anything in the horizon the we're hearing over that you can see. well it's a great question you know and there is the dynamic going on between not only kim jong un and the united states but also with his relationship. now with
10:50 pm
a lot of with south korean leaders with chinese officials all of whom have had meetings with with with kim in the last basically since two thousand and eighteen so you know as far as the meeting with vladimir putin perhaps you know that was prudent stepping in to try to work a deal that president trump could not or some other strategy between russia and north korea maybe even kind of picking up where the united states left off but but that said you know the president did speak with japanese prime minister shinzo on today about the developments with north korea and moving forward and what exactly that entails again remains to be seen but there is this dynamic between the u.s. between north korea between russia between you know south korea and china that's all part of this overall puzzle about what you know how you know what what goes on moving forward at this point you guys john always a pleasure thank you so much for coming on and informing us brilliantly informative

jahnavi from miami you're welcome. this week. between israel and palestine on the left more than twenty palestinians reportedly killed including two pregnant women with war between the two countries once again looking like a very real possibility possibility a miraculous cease fire was called on monday from tel aviv your resort to use policy were restored. when the truce between israel and the war in gaza factions went into effect on monday morning it was broken egypt and the united nations it came off to the worst fear of violence between the sites once it was some seven hundred instead raining down on southern israel and these may be a force bombarded hundreds of locations inside gaza destroying and damaging maybe buildings now these raids have not confirmed that they were in talks with hamas because they cannot have fifty acknowledge that they are negotiating with an

responsible for distributing cash that comes from the red to the various factions inside gaza now among the buildings that was hit by the israeli warplanes was your office to push state run news agency and all the turkish president the one has publicly criticized israel and take actions between and ten of its have increased on the israeli side for what israelis were killed this is the highest casualty number that israel has suffered in some five years since the last israel gaza war back in two thousand and fourteen. the feeling on the ground both inside gaza and israel is that this is merely allow infighting and that unfortunately the flare up will happen again we have heard from hamas off to the cease fire threatening as well that if it doesn't come up to lift even if it will resume its rocket attacks and speaking to israelis here in the south of the country many feel that they've been abandoned by the israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu many as. these

would have liked him to have conducted a full scale war inside gaza to quote them once and for all deal with the situation the next two weeks are jam packed on the israeli calendar you have israeli independence day memorial day you have the one year anniversary of the american moving of its embassy from tel aviv to jerusalem you have knocked the day which is the palestinian commemoration of what they call the catastrophe the declaration of these really independence back in one nine hundred forty eight and all of this comes before the year of vision song face to both slated to begin on the fourteenth of may the saints very much is that miss on yahoo does not want to disrupt any of those memorial days any of those celebrations and that he's perhaps planning to deal with the situation in gaza off to a fortnight as far as your vision is concerned there are some twenty thousand tourists who are expected to descend on television where the world's largest singing competition will be held you really have international groups who have
