to see a reduction of tensions with russia and ultimately of course an end to the very catastrophic war that has taken place in the east of his country but on the other hand he's also made it clear in recent weeks that he's going to still stand very much with the west and allied to the u.s. and of course in a way those statements are now being rewarded perhaps with the continuation of this aid program rather does a female back with more news of the top the hour stay with us. place.

where the politicians do something to. put themselves on the line they get accepted or rejected. so when you want to express an interest. or something want to watch. it you go right. it's like the story of the people. interested always in the lives of. their. great artists and salutations war is cancer inevitable to those who profit from it for those who pay for it the cost is just too high and that cost seems on the minds
9:32 pm
of world leaders as tensions between iran and the united states intensified at least in the war of words last week the sabers were rattled toward iran after 2 more oil tankers were damaged off their shores and video released by the u.s. seemed to suggest some arabian involvement as usual all options are on the table though the rhetoric took a sharp turn on tuesday when a radian president hassan rouhani told state television. a wrong will not wage war against a nation that is facing us are a group of politicians with little experience and response secretary of state might pompei it took with the very suggestion that his desire for war with iran was anything less than pure telling journalists in florida we are there to deter aggression president trump does not want war of course despite a leader who doesn't want war the us announced yesterday it was sending a 1000 additional troops to the middle east and president trump called the tanker attacks minor so which is it are we on the brink of world war 3 or not well acting
9:33 pm
defense secretary and former boeing executive patrick shanahan seems to think so as he announced this week that he authorized approximately those 1000 additional troops for defensive purposes to address arid able and ground based threats in the middle east then shanahan announced he was removing himself from consideration for the job he just used to send a 1000 young americans into a war even he can't justify not that this will slow the or roll since a former lobbyist for raytheon is most likely taking his place. so if this is all just a case of crossed wires ego has the lack of meaningful diplomacy amongst middle eastern countries and the interference by the u.s. u.k. and other western nations caused a complete breakdown of civility or is this a show for the american voter to get them to exact big budget increases to modernize our nuclear arsenal and line the pockets of the defense industry under the guise of national security while it looks like it's time to take
9:34 pm
a breath and our feet take our fingers off the nuclear button and start watching the hawks. want to. get the 1st real that this was. the plot of. the day like you are going to let the police. would. be. welcome everyone to watch something happen to wallace and joining me today to discuss the latest in our nuclear arsenal and at the center of just about every war story is r t america correspondent sara montecito ok thank you for joining me for having me so sara what do the numbers tell us as far as volume of nuclear weapons
9:35 pm
are the is the volume of nuclear weapons growing well there was actually a new report published by the stockholm international peace research and says 2 or 3 that shows that the numbers the volume the number of nuclear weapons is actually decreasing but that's have been in the past year or so are fewer doesn't necessarily mean safe but let me show you the numbers according to the data published 9 states hold an approximate total of 13865 nuclear weapons now that's a to a different number than we saw last year now the states include the. u.s. the u.k. russia france and china and of course north korea but in 20 those states had 14465 but even though we've seen a decrease of 600 less a lot of what this report shows really is that these nuclear weapons have become highly highly modernized so fewer it does not necessarily mean safer what's the reason so obviously it doesn't i mean if you have something routes you know
9:36 pm
multiple times more powerful just because you have less of. what's the reason behind the decline the numbers will see pretty found that these findings were decreased due to a u.s. russia treaty require the countries to dispose of the nuclear warheads that they had during the cold war and to limit the number of warheads that each of the country disposes but the treaty was termed measures for further reduction and limitations of strategic offensive arms or called the new star and that was in force in february 20th levon and that treaty is due to expire pretty soon and 2021 and we're i mean 2 years away from this and there have been so far 0 discussions on whether or not these countries will extend the deal but u.s. and russian arsenals still own get this over 90 percent of nuclear weapons in the world that's a big number but again the decline doesn't mean that we're safer and this is also
9:37 pm
especially important given the time that the u.s. has withdrawn from some of these key treaties including the iran deal between 15 iran deal they withdrew last may and the i.m.f. deal with the brush show that they withdrew from in february and this was what pompei o and trump said when withdrawing from these deals. volume announcing today that dean i did steal. from the right. not alone. to him or. the most. when. russia has refused to take any steps to return real and verifiable compliance over these 60 days. the united states will therefore suspend its obligations under the n f treaty effective february 2nd. iran and russia had a response of their own so let's listen to what the. president of the united
9:38 pm
states has made cheap and impudent remarks there were maybe more than 10 lies in what he said he both mentioned the j. c.p.o. a with drawl and also threat and both the establishment and the iranian nation and he will do this in net and i will tell him on behalf of the iranian people mr trump like hell you will. yesterday to our great regret a constructive proposal by russia that would allow the united states to see for themselves at an expert level the $97.00 to $9.00 missile which they suspect violates the intermediate range nuclear forces treaty parameters was rejected. so historically where are we at in terms of nuclear weapons well the number has decreased in the past year alone but at the peak of the nuclear weapons the world had about 70000 nuclear weapons now obviously we've got we've seen this huge decrease in it but even even then this was in the 1980 s.
9:39 pm
it's really part of negotiating and communicating and the u.s. withdrawing from this we heard iran announce that they're going to heighten their uranium in just less than 10 days now so it's really about coming back to the table president obama negotiated this iran deal and other countries are also part of it so it'll be interesting to see how these other countries respond to that as well that's one of the things about nuclear weapons is that it really everyone has to be on board if if these treaties and these peace plans are going to work and i think we're hopefully in for a new peace initiative in terms of nuclear weapons rather of and new world war i thank you so much asaram on to stay with us through all this. parklane shooting survivor kyle caches had an early acceptance to harvard university it rescinded this week after a share of google document from 2 years ago showed cash if using well known rhesus language to describe things like the sexual proclivities of female classmates as

well as others as he claimed and attempt to be extreme and shocking as possible now many wonder if it's fair to punish a young adult for mistakes made when they were teens while there is wonder if this doesn't prove that the discourse on the all time low and or respects of those less fortunate nowhere to be found and while it takes the mainstream media 8 hours a day to debate this issue we her watching the hawks can do it in under 5 minutes but joining us now with his take is conservative commentator steve malls for. the rich over the well 1st let me point out that there's no. no excuse for what admittedly wrote and there's no place for the n. word or any other slurs against women or minorities and he may have authored those on those platforms no matter where he did it even as a 16 year old it's unacceptable and he's acknowledged that he's apologized profusely both publicly on national t.v. and privately to the folks at holier than thou harvard but apparently none of that
9:41 pm
is good enough for the administration and they must believe that kyle must never be forgiven and he must suffer and pay for his mistake forever i wonder why such a bastion of liberalism would react that way after all we now are bernie sanders a leading democrat presidential candidate calling for convicted felons murderers and rapists to be allowed to vote while in prison and bernie is a grown man wrote that women fantasize about being raped by multiple men while having sex with their partners didn't affect him joe biden who leaves the dems in the polls called barack obama the 1st clean articulate african-american ever to run for president when in fact already there were had been many african-americans that ran where they dirty and inarticulate hillary called the late senator and k.k.k. member robert byrd her mentor would they be shunned by harvard as a speaker or a professor no you see the problem is kyle cache of is a survivor of parkland as you mentioned he distinguished himself as a 2nd amendment advocate after the shooting he didn't join the anti-gun hysteria he

showed a rare courage an individual isn't the kind of courage an individual is of on the wrong side of the political spectrum for the cowards at harvard he is better off without them. well i will say this attending harvard it's not a right it's a privilege and it says a lot the class is racist. comments were posted on a shared study group for an e.p. history class and it's time when honor student was given the opportunity to learn about his country here he was with his classmates trying to incite a reaction from his peers but just actually pretty typical for us. however if the standard for teen stupidity is that they get a chance to redeem themselves and learn from their mistakes then why are we as a society making young black men pay for their mistakes like what i know wearing a hoodie with their allies while car you here gets to be protected from all of this criticism because the truth is most people aren't criticizing this kid for what he
9:43 pm
said when he was 16 most are criticizing his reaction to it his control is concerned over whether or not this action by harvard means harvard is a response to here's the thing though. ready it is harvard is built on the backs of slaves harvard is inherently racist and classist and that selection process harvard is in fact wildly problematic and fosters a dangerous sense of lead as i'm probably helping tear this country apart and driving it into debt so i say cash isn't the victim he learned a valuable life's lessons you want special just because something bad happened to you and the world and harvard they don't owe you anything until you make up for your own mistakes and stead of expecting pundits politicians and the press to do it for you. thank you so much for. always
9:44 pm
a pleasure. well as we go to very cagr authors don't forget to let us know what you think of the topics we've covered on facebook and twitter. dot com coming up baltimore's own offer and educator dean watkins joins us to discuss the phoenix police department's recent controversy regarding excessive force and snow could hold the key to a new life saving glue say to the lottery. starting really in the 1980s under reagan and thatcher and deregulation you had the fed takeover and their sole purpose of the point was to try to squeeze workers completely out of the global economy so wages never went up real terms sensed that but stock markets keep going up and the reason to justify this is that the fed will

president trump plans to announce his bid for re-election tonight at the rat a rally at the amway center in orlando florida supporters and protesters alike have been gathering not only for hours but some for days and anticipation of this big night arts and correspondent on how he tells us what to expect in the present state . florida is a battleground state so it's really no surprise that president chose florida to launch his re-election bid he'll likely give a victory speech tonight in the sense that it will probably be seeing i always told them i would win kind of address to his supporters touting his record as president saying that he's made good on his campaign promises also likely taking more shots at the so-called fake media and fake news targeting more than likely among other c.n.n. in the new york times he'll also likely discuss immigration the middle east and venezuela the last time as we all remember that donald trump announced he was running for president was back on june 16th 2015 when he rode down the golden

escalator at trump tower in manhattan amid much fanfare well today president trump deals with many serious issues on his plate as president of the united states including the escalating tension with iran immigration president trump just tweeted yesterday in fact that ice will begin the process of removing millions of illegal aliens next week along with other serious issues including the u.s. involvement in latin america specifically his administration's policies regarding venezuela and cuba speaking of venezuela and cuba vice president mike pence is also in florida today meeting with the crew on board the u.s. and asked comfort at the port of miami to discuss the ship's 6 month deployment to latin america and the caribbean to address according to a statement from the v. peace office the quote humanitarian crisis created by the on. going political and economic instability in venezuela the comfort left its home port of naval station norfolk in virginia earlier this month for this latest deployment it's scheduled to

make stops in colombia costa rica the dominican republic ecuador and haiti among other locations after meeting with the crew aboard the ship vice president will then head up tour lando to join president trump and his reelection rally one final footnote not everyone is so excited that president trump is holding the rally in orlando in fact the orlando sentinel editorial board wrote this morning quote we're here to announce our endorsement for president in 2020 or at least who were not endorsing donald trump the paper did not say who it would be endorsing but added that quote after 2 and a half years we've seen enough enough of the chaos that the vision the schoolyard insults self aggrandizement the corruption and especially the lies so the sentinel definitely taking a shot at president trump though it's unlikely to deter the thousands of trump's supporters who have turned out for the big reelection rally or those who will be

supporting him as the race for 2020 heats up particularly here in florida for watching the hocks i'm john honey. just a few short years ago the idea of a police chief apologizing on camera for the actions of one of their police officers was almost unheard of however all that changed after the deaths of mike brown eric garner and sandra bland among others we no longer accept that blue line as an excuse to terrorize and that's what happened to a family in phoenix arizona this may when officers not only yelled profanities threats and orders that made no sense but even tried to rip a one year old baby from her mother's arm during an altercation and altered to send over an anonymous tip that the family's 4 year old had stolen a doll from a dollar store for once even the police seemed to see just how unconscionable the police actions were explained chief jerry williams had this to say regarding the incident. i like you i'm disturbed by the language and the actions of our officer.
9:50 pm
i assure you that this incident is not representative of the majority of phoenix police officers who serve this city i do want you to know that i expect our employees to maintain their professionalism and proper training at all times. here to help us better understand this and other police related events this week as author and educator. walk in so do you welcome 1st of all welcome thanks for coming coming here today thank you what are your thoughts on this incident in phoenix and the things that happened this week. she apologized you know that shouldn't happen how does it feel to hear that so her apology was. and i think a lot of times with these systems we think that if you sit a black person on top of a black person fights their way to become police chief is still you have change but that doesn't change the culture of the people in the street stores office or it's
9:51 pm
no way in the world that you could even believe in humanity a little bit who waves a gun at a baby when waves are going to pregnant woman over a stolen dog not a brick of cocaine not an automatic weapon not a kidnap victim but just crazy to me they don't get i mean i don't honestly i've never i haven't seen police ever get this this this put this much effort into actual crimes that happen to people that. they're never that excited to point a gun at somebody that's another question as we have seen so many of these videos especially after the sense mike brown in the last 4 are going on 5 years and here's here's what i wonder is do they become do these videos not that the pain is not to take away any of that but do these videos become kind of redundant in that we keep saying them we keep saying here's the truth here's where it is you can see it but that police officer isn't fired he didn't lose his job the police officers involved
9:52 pm
in that haven't lost their jobs and neither of us. the 12 we've seen on video so a couple of things one i've spent some time with this phoenix video and i think those guys may have been on cocaine because i've never seen anybody that excited over a dollar baby from a dollar store that probably could cost more than a dollar yeah that's one thing to all of these police officers watching these videos like do cops watch the viral videos because it's almost like they act as if they live in a world where these videos don't exist and that it makes me think would have videos for as a black person you know grew up in a neighborhood now what you know and i don't not speaking for everybody but for myself i would say that i've actually seen enough videos i've actually been through these experiences enough enough so i get it i know what's happening people outside of these videos who only you're excited when they see videos but they don't do anything it's almost like they're scrubbing of some sort of trauma point but they need something to talk about also going to tweet about something or write op ed about something to you know feel bad about put collectively if we are not working
9:53 pm
together the person who's living it the person who's writing about it the person who's reporting the person who's the cops who are doing these agreed is actually collectively are going to figure out a way to have these conversations and fix these things when nothing's going to change and that's a thing we've seen especially like i said the last us for 5 years we watched body camera as you know the that was going to answer everything obviously it doesn't matter even if you have a video that doesn't mean that everything's going to be taken care of also you know we put in all this community body cameras these are going to fix everything according to politicians they were all like this is going to be great the goal is reform or will all be better with each other but you know for instance in baltimore . are you seeing reform happen there are these major issues that came up did they have they stopped planting evidence on people of their arresting people for nothing had these things gone away so there has been multiple police corruption cases to
9:54 pm
happen after baltimore 100 percent to create we have a case where a police officer planted drugs on a kid. and did a reenactment. he didn't know his body count was on hold because he was a moron but he did every act as if you just apprehended this child and the kid in a cut actually didn't go to jail the kid actually said joe for about 6 months to cut didn't he got community service even though he lost his job and people like he lost his job and i'm like that's better than yeah so the gun trace task force. citizens commit over time for a may may you know allegedly could have potentially caused a murder you know all of these things happened after consent decree so we talk about reform you preach reform in this reform reform reform reform from but you know the intentions are good but the outcomes are trash and everybody looks at like the smallest little positive thing that happens like a cop helps kid in projects planets like reform is working but it's like you have
9:55 pm
this cop sergeant norm burke who just locked up a guy for commenting on the way he was a handling another citizen. it's so weird to me that it's seems that the very people who are supposed to protect us how are the ones with the thinnest skin blue skin is apparently very thin. spare. and i think that's funny that you brought of this thing about the pay because i think this is are saying is when you look at some of these cases there are these stories coming up where you keep seeing this officer in uniform who's out on the streets is with his overtime making $242.00 we're talking about a quarter $1000000.00 a year of our tax money how does it feel to you know if you're living in the middle of the how does it feel you're paying people to terrorize your community i feel like i may have chose the wrong profession. but this guy has got a new. grossly overpaid a lot of money is over so he pretty much doubled his salary well over time and now we see. an ethical way he treats it as if they maybe should go back and check his numbers to make sure he didn't commit any type of fraud because that's just crazy
9:56 pm
sergeants are not supposed to work that much and when you undergo some degree you're doing things to community and police relations having a person on the street who's working in a 1000000 albums a week member sleeping living work is not the person you want to stand in the community would have gone to bed because he's going to flip and that's what he did we saw that one a rest on camera but what about the stuff that we didn't see dust was clear to me the most and i think what were the part about community got lost once the cameras went away and places like baltimore and st louis and ferguson and all of this it's when when we the reporters leave they're sort of this idea that it's no big deal and they can figure it out which is why we have to be better about really finding ways that these communities come together and hopefully that it's one step closer and maybe what's happening in phoenix was so agree jess like you literally have to see a baby. video we don't get any justice and that's crazy cameras all as political this
9:57 pm
is what we do but like no other preferred. does the people you know the subway god doesn't need a body care to make a sandwich it's you know dredges men don't mean the mailman doesn't need a body cared to make sure he's put in the middle of the right one of these guys in the cameras to make sure they do their jobs well we'll have to get to that the next time you go mom but we'll start working why do them as they queue so much educator do you walk and thank you so much for joining us. imagine a glue strong enough to hold a full size human being gentle enough for an insect sling well scientists at the university of pennsylvania did just that all by mimicking the properties of snail mucus that's right turns out this becomes firmly stuck when it dries it which is what allows them to slide up walls the their slime so by using the same concept and a special hydro gel the scientists created they were able to create small wafers
9:58 pm
the size of postage stamps that way those one little postage stamps kind of hold over $190.00 pounds dry then with a small squirt of water the adhesive reverses and the glue is gone and it all comes from the waste nails used mucus to create membranes that can hold in water so they don't dehydrate i mean here's to a snails for their hold on side. for you today remember everyone as mike has tyra banks are always says in this world we're not told we're allowed to not so i tell you long i left you know i'm tired of it well it's keep on watching the hots and have a great day and. that's the other side as a survival guide liquid and said so i don't know that you can convert into this
