b.t.u.'s coming out of the fracking rigs so it's negative energy as well as cash flow energy they only do it to create fees for the lenders into the industry plus we also have a lot of flaring at all say that in the north dakota where they are doing a lot of fracking of oil but it produces as a byproduct natural gas but there's no infrastructure to transport it out of there so it's too expensive the price at which natural gas now sells due to the oversupply to the market because of all the fracking so they just flare it burn it off so they want to be able to say that the u.s. has more energy than saudi arabia even though it means the premature extinction of humanity to make that statement doesn't matter because for the next 2 weeks we get bragging rights so i'm going to compare also obama to trump ok like trump is supposed to be an axis central threat and he's the worst thing that's ever happened on earth and on c.n.n.

welcome back to the kaiser report i'm max keyser time now to go to independent journalist j.p.s. attilla a vandal dot com j.p. welcome back good to be with you again max all right so j.p. you wrote recently in a piece titled if you can't stand the heat get out of the empire the u.s. military is suffering the consequences of its main policy objectives of securing the oil reserves and oil shipping lanes around the world elaborate well i think what's interesting about u.s. empire is that it's basically been a project protection racket for the hydrocarbon industry right ever since 1905 when f.d.r. cut a deal with king sowed we will have a protectorate over you you will deliver oil to the west it has grown exponentially

over the course of the decades and one of the fascinating things about this oily empire is that oil is not just a justification for empire but climate change is also becoming a justification for empire and the irony being that all of the burning of oil has lead to climate change climate change is leading to things like the melting of the arctic where the united states wants to expand its military presence and also to an emerging climate refugee problem which the pentagon is planning on because what is a pentagon want to do keep the climate refugees out and try and figure out a way to manage the massive stabilisation that's going to come from climate change so so basically climate change is becoming a rationale for empire which is funny because readers empire was one of the causes of climate change i guess looking back at previous empires this is a different case the right because previous empires they were not into terra forming right the british empire did not permanently alter or the climate of planet

really based more on this concept of too big to fail. banks zombie corporations or zombie. policies that the climate policies are are killing us but they are explaining hair it's a too big to fail situation the cash flow that we get from this broken system keeps the empire going it's an empire of negative cash flow it's negative like fracking it takes more money than frack than you make fracking it takes more energy to frac then you get out from the other side of fracking so we're just basically casing down this incredible perry a rabbit hole j.p. there are 2 things there i'd love to talk about military keynesianism because one aspect of why this system continues to work is because many thousands of americans are employed directly in the defense industry or in the end siller a business is they go around the defense industry the f. 351 of the great boondoggles in human history it is too big to fail and one of the reasons why is that its production has been spread across numerous congressional

districts so you have numerous numerous senators and members of congress who need to sustain the f. 35 y. because military keynesianism is pouring money into the hands of their constituents who are helping to sustain the economy so it's not just corporations that are benefiting defense corporations and oil corporations they're actually american workers who are dependent upon these military keynesian cycle the other side on oil you mentioned fracking you know oil needs to be around $50.00 a barrel and one of the oddities about the oil market is that peak oil that's long gone we're now heading towards peak demand and we have an oversupplied really saturated oil market that has to have the price of oil artificially sustained at $50.00 because think about this max the world's largest oil reserve is venezuela there the amount of oil they can produce is completely restricted because in no small part the trump administration's sanctions regime the trumpet ministrations stated objective is to 0 out iranian oil that oil is largely off the market and

libya which commandant ha. starr a former cia trained individual is being funded by the u.a.e. and saudi arabia to do what to have this really strange attractor back on tripoli which destabilized libya they have a large oil supply their oil is largely off the market imagine if those 3 come countries were actually producing at near capacity the price of oil would drop well below $50.00 that makes it profitable for fracking in the permian basin in texas and would also collapse the economies of the united arab emirates saudi arabia russia and maybe even the united states which is now the world's leading producer of higher carbons let's get back to the arctic and greenland and denmark and tromp but that feeler out there and say ok we like to buy greenland and but i'm thinking historically now the u.s. foreign policy whether it's iraq afghanistan or the participation in the e.u.

is destruction of greece and the profiteering that went on there are there on a collision course here it sounds like improbable of 1st but as you describe it the red queen syndrome of having to go faster and faster in place just to stay in place it looks like greenland is actually in play j.p. whether denmark and the semi-autonomous are state of greenland will be willing to be in play for for us ambitions is one question now. there are a couple things there are other than oil and gas there are rare earth minerals there there's a i think it's the 5th largest mine is about to come online or at least it was scheduled to over the last year for rare earths and it's also a source of uranium so these are very strategic resources particularly the rare earths because rare earths it's a number of very you know often not heard of minerals that go into making the component parts for cellphones afghanistan is reputed to have

a number of rare earth minerals that have also been untapped like greenland and so who needs rare earth minerals china needs rare earth minerals to do what to make things like cell phones because it goes into things like lithium batteries and some of the component parts of cellphones so there is this subtext going on right now it's very similar you talk about old empires how it used to be a just a scramble for resources there is an there is a scramble for resources happening now the interesting thing is that the scramble is shifting away from oil and gas because i think for oil and gas the scramble is to find ways to keep other people's or oil in the ground you want to keep iran's oil in the ground and off the market libya's oil off the market in the ground same thing with venezuela but when it comes to things like rare earths and potentially uranium there is a scramble to acquire those or to acquire access to those and that is apparently one of the expects the nation some people have for us why we're still a united states is still afghanistan and would certainly explain why there are some

salivating over greenland i take your point that denmark might not be open to selling greenland but as we know the american propaganda machine is pretty awesome and they set up a justification to invade iraq or afghanistan or the rest of phobia that's been rampant on m.s.n. they say if rachel maddow got the word from the head of comcast to go negative on greenland and he would give it out beautifully start positioning the people in greenland as being an existential threat to america. and the american people would be throttled up and we'd send in the bombers and i mean that's the american policy if you're saying is we need these rare earth materials to keep the empire red queen spinning in its place for another you know 10 months or so you know they'll they'll they'll do it. you know let's this kind of look at the take the position from the other side of the equation and that would be mother nature herself she's fighting back with the weaponized ticks miskito as flesh eating bacteria right mother nature

you know we the carrying capacity for planet earth is limited but you know i'm sorry if this is shocking news is for the people out there but there's only so much industry and population they can sustain and now it's breaking down so where are we on that cycle it seems like earth the nature or are you starting to fight back j.p. i have an aphorism i've come up with and it's there are no extra analogies in nature and as much as we try to externalize the cost by offshoring. toxic productive capabilities to the other to develop to the developing world in other countries alternately there's something i call the capitalism one card and you can continue to charge all of these carbon emissions because you want to have this hydrocarbon economy you can keep charging and charging and charging but eventually although we as human beings may be on a quarterly financial time scale the time scale that mother nature is on is much
