a majority but the way the israeli law works is that the party that has the most number of seats and if indeed these initial exit polls prove true it means that guns whose political party is centered on the same to live will be the one tossed by the country's president to put together the next coalition government yeah i mean if left in you know who doesn't win paula could we see a 3rd round of elections. well this is the scenario that everyone is trying to avoid and a few hours ago the country's president rivlin made a statement and he published it on facebook in which he said that he was going to do to quote everything leads politics try and prevent a 3rd round of elections this is the 2nd time israelis have gone to the polls in 6 months and one of the big questions was voter turnout whether or not people in fact would turn out to. twice in 6 months the early indications are that this time voter

turnout was slightly higher than the elections back in april by 1 and a hoss percent so although many israelis are feeling fatigued and many of them feel that these elections are not achieving anything it does seem as if they turned out we have heard from the israeli president saying that if indeed neither netanyahu could party nor the party of big guns who at this stage as i say the initial polls suggest is coming 1st if neither of them are able to form a majority coalition the president says that he will then approach political parties and see if there's any way that anybody else can form a majority coalition so we are hearing a concerted effort by the israeli president who is responsible for this whole process to make sure it will to at least try and prevent another round of elections you have a problem there is a problem there isn't paula because attempt that was created to. create a coalition with the liberal did fail who lies in that.

well lieberman who is a former defense minister has really become the king in these elections remember of course that was back in april that because he refused to join forces with them with netanyahu so he could party that the prime minister was unable to form a majority government now what indications are that lieberman will not join forces with netanyahu have been hearing from these 1st exit polls that time yahoo and right wing parties without me the men will only get 57 seats they need a majority of 61 out of 120 seats in a state parliament to actually form the next government the initial results also suggest that if indeed gunsmiths party in the form ideas chief forms. with the arab parties which i must have come in at this stage and 3rd position they will then get. majority of $63.00 seats but the question there is whether or not

lieberman who really falls on the right of the political spectrum will be part of that coalition and that seems highly unlikely so there's a lot of questions being asked in terms of how this new coalition will go but let me repeat that at this stage the initial results suggest that the party of the israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu is in 2nd place meaning that it is his rival who will be tossed to actually form the next government but of course it remains to be seen if indeed he is successful in doing this we'll keep updated with . we know that trump has thrown his backing behind the current prime minister do you think that's been influential in any way at all. it certainly is influential it's a question i've been posing to israelis is why do they support or why don't they support netanyahu and many of those who support netanyahu put forward the reasoning that number one he has this excellent relationship with world leaders and they point to his track record with the american president as proof and number 2 they
