12:00 pm
snow. france's crippled by a nationwide strike over pension reform plans with protests in the capital descending into violence we're live with our correspondent in the one minute. also this hour the russian foreign minister rejects germany's claim that moscow has not been cooperating with an investigation into the murder of a georgian citizen in berlin this summer. faces fresh censorship accusations after a change to its terms of service leads to fears of shadow banning.
12:01 pm
their live news and reaction 247 this is r.t. international from moscow where it's now 8 pm here on thursday it's 6 pm in france that's where we're starting this hour the country's been paralyzed by the biggest strike in years this thursday with workers protesting all mass against the government's plans to overhaul the pension system transport networks have been brought to a standstill and schools and hospitals badly affected too demonstrations have been held right across the country let's catch up with them now our correspondent in paris is keeping with the protesters all day it's been a massive show of anger across the country why is that fury so deep. that fear is so deep because the idea of messing with people's pensions in their time and sort of hits to the core of every french person i saw some polls that suggested there. every percent of people actually supported this strike action plan
12:02 pm
for one day but the suggestion is it could go on the road long for the next few weeks we know that they're all planned protests over the next few days by different professions but the suggestion is that the one day strike could turn into much much more people don't like the idea that i want the government to do is take 42 different pension systems and put them down into one universal system and they say do it that's not fair which is how the government describes them actually for us it will mean that we could work longer and we could end up with less pension at the end of the day as though this is something that goes really to the core of french people i mean let's not forget the last time we had massive massive protests paralyzed the country for weeks that was also over pensions back in 1995 then the government did a u. turn and stood down will not come as government do that well we'll yet to see and not i suppose depends on the strength of these protests figures coming in from the
12:03 pm
prefecture and from the police will across france say that more than 450000 people have taken part in this strike today not just transport workers but teaches students health workers plumbers a fire fight isn't even the police that is how much anger there is that people wanted to come out and make sure that their voices were heard that they too want these reforms to take place now there was calm for much of the day in paris but in the last few hours we've seen those tension rises not just here in paris but elsewhere in the country we've seen clashes between the police and the protesters with projectiles being thrown towards the police protest is putting things on fire and then of course the police responding with tear gas has a flavor of what's happened here in paris.
12:04 pm
tensions rising here in paris you might be able to hear the a tear gas that's being let off that's because just down the street you can see that there is a fire taking place here the tear gas has been dispersed to try and move protesters away him from that fire it's unclear exactly what it is and fire but you can see the i think the walk through pollution much smoke just rising into the air people are trying to move away as that tear gas is being dispersed but this is an indication of just how i agree people all here in paris this is paul nation wide strikes taking place across from today these strikes are expected to be rolling as you can see there more tear gas down into the protesters shariah and move people away from the sand so quiet crews can get on with the job which is to try and put
12:05 pm
tides that fire 10 shouldn't be saying between the protesters and the police maces one of the round $250.00 strikes taking place across france today in relation to those changes that the french government wants to make to people's pensions they basically want to move 42 different pension systems down into one unified system saying that it will make it fairer a more just the people who are protesting today who are on strike say it won't make it more just in fact what it will mean is that they'll have to work longer and their pensions could be worth less in the end you can see the firefighters trying desperately to put out this fire at the moment as the tear gas is still coming down not from the police i get you get a sense of some of the damage that's being cool was hit by a shell to hit has been smashed doesn't. and we see quite regularly in the protests
12:06 pm
another fire taking place across the street actually as you know just that big fire with a big plume of smoke but of course here it really looks like in the last sort of 10 to 15 minutes all hell is broken loose have also been tensions elsewhere in fronts not just here tensions in places like. other cities across from reality is the people here are angry and we're seeing the palpable anger now on the streets this is a one day strike but people say it could go on much longer and could take over until the end of the year if it does that it will be much the strikes back in 1995 which were also against the pension reform tear gas is raining down and those crews are battling. battling you as you are contain this fire we're just going to have to move now because this change gets created to
12:07 pm
a comic by the stewardess and they're exploding very near to where we are so we're just going to try and head back to the subway oh my safety but palpable anger on the streets of paris i know one scum protest is to get into chaos. russia has flatly rejected germany's claims that it's not been cooperating with an investigation into the murder of a georgian national in but in august russian foreign minister sergei lavrov told r.t. on thursday that it appears moscow will again be blamed for a crime it was not involved in but the story is more if an option. relations between moscow and bearly now going drastically downhill germany's unexpected decision to expel 2 russian embassy staffers on wednesday has left more scope fuming angela merkel complained russia didn't do enough to has ceased tame the investigation into the murder of a georgian national back in august and now barely says there is real and sufficient indication that russia was behind it i asked russia's foreign minister sergey
12:08 pm
lavrov for his response in the city is going over russia and germany have special channels set up to tackle issues such as violations of the law we should use them they said we did not cooperate enough this is groundless some countries today recalled the tragedy of m.h. 17 my dutch counterpart said we didn't do enough then we supplied them with all the necessary information with data from our radars and so on we gave them everything where all the satellite images to us promised nobody answered that we asked them what kind of cooperation they want from us they responded by saying you have to confess you did it that would be corporative if germany wants to follow suit nothing good will come of it but that's not a good way to deal with anyone and with russia in particular isn't him 100 was a 40 year old jordan citizen of chechen origin he was targeted in a berlin park on his way to
12:09 pm
a mosque with eyewitnesses saying he was shot in the head and chest by a man on a bicycle his murder was then dubbed by the media as scree paul 2.0 and the victim labeled as a kremlin opponent but who was the victim a right hand men to terrorists during the 2nd chechen war his role was to lead extremist groups in the caucasus and recruit spies and hunger shrill as reported paramilitary korea continued into 2012 when he is said to have assisted at georgian operation against his former comrades considered a terrorist by the. russian authorities he was also listed as a potential is the miss threat for some time in germany to now various media outlets have published their own conclusions into his death the evidence includes 4 to comparisons and killing parton's of a man who had been in hiding from interpol and russia and the reporters suggesting the wanted murderer was then hard by moscow of chechnya to do it again the federal

investigation in germany is just the beginning now on google merkel says she hopes russia will help german investigators but it seems no matter who was behind it the embassy expulsion indicates that the verdict has in fact already been given. our to reporting from europe. a producer working for a peace video agency was detained of this week's nato summit in london and questioned under the terrorism act replaced chief content officer has been talking a through the details. we were of course very surprised when this happened as a media agency we were going to cover 70th anniversary summit our producer was accredited for the summit which was confirmed to him via e-mail by organizes having this email he went there on wednesday to pick up the pass just to go inside and film which is normal procedure for all journalists. so he showed this
12:11 pm
acceptance and his passport and they told him that he had to wait in the lobby at this point he was approached by a plain clothed my who presented a police warrant and requested him. to wait for police questioning i believe we can now listen to our producer's own account of what happened i was approached by a number of police officers who requested my id and asked me to explain what i was doing i told them that i was a journalist waiting for my credit ration passed and i identified myself by giving them my passport press card and the accreditation approval letter the police then proceeded to detain me under the terrorism act they searched me and my belongings well after bad he was told that his accreditation had been revoked and then police left like i said this came as a surprise to us because our producer has been covering events in the u.k.
12:12 pm
for a plea on many occasions including state events and other developments as an agency we do extensive coverage of things happening in the u.k. for example we were the only media organization that filmed julian assange when he was dragged out of the ecuadorian embassy in london last spring. as to this particular event in accordance where's the nato accreditation procedure as they say in exceptional circumstances there is of the right to river. accreditation even if it had been confirmed what kind of exceptional circumstances we're talking about here remains unclear to us we filed a formal request to the organization right after the incident requesting clarification but we haven't had we haven't heard back from them yet was this type of incident a one off hour later of it well i would say that we have never experienced anything
12:13 pm
like this with nato as such but 2 years ago when 2017 were denied accreditation for a high level security conference called struck summit struck com is a strategic. communications center of excellence is not part of nato as such but they are a native accredited military organization so they're related. back to the organizers of protests in an email that they were denying us accreditation because we are affiliated with our city and they said they don't consider that a journalist organization so 6 as for this week's summit near london i know that 2 reporters were working apparently without problems so we're waiting to see what the reason was for denying probably accreditation. twitter's updated terms of service says it will now be able to put limits on content and that's raising fears
12:14 pm
that the social media platform could apply its so-called shadow bans but effectively be suppressing publicly posted content without the users knowledge of their posts won't be visible to their followers it's an accusation that twitter is faced before dawn of now reports it could become the norm from next year. twitter is coming out of the shadows remember all these media figures accusing these social platform of sneakily hiding their posts from their followers feeds what big brother hides from us what is referred to as shadow banding maybe even more pernicious if you're on the left maybe you're ok with this but if you're not on the left or even if you are and you revere the 1st amendment you should be concerned that's actually been well substantiated vice news which is not a right wing outlet says that this is happening on our own team basis to a lot of folks on the right side of the aisle but almost never people on the left side of the aisle do not know our island people very least that's what i think is that you've got to be balanced house leader kevin mccarthy wrote our chairman
12:15 pm
a letter and said hey this is going on and we think your committee should investigate it and how the twitter boss made a surprise an innocent face saying that oh no no no they're definitely not going behind anyone's backs to quietly hide their opinions twitter undertook no behavior to selectively censor conservative republicans or conservative voices on your platform correct correct. well apparently all those assurances were just a big pile of nonsense now for those of you not too tech savvy i'm talking about a thing called shadow banning to the shuttle banned user everything looks just fine they can log into their account follow calm and like even post tweets but crucially their posts are simply not shown in other people's feeds even if they are
12:16 pm
subscribed to the user twitter had been adamantly denying that it does this until it slipped this one small change into their constitution we may also remove or refuse to distribute any content on the services ltd strip you show visibility of any content on the service suspended terminate users and reclaim usernames without mobility to you it's a case where just a couple of words make all the difference the part about limiting tweet visibility was not in the previous edition of the document here it is nothing of the sort there and one can only wonder why twitter has decided to come clean all of a sudden perhaps because after all the outcry from the users wronged by the platform that simply made no sense in denying it anymore or and maybe because the twitter star film had previously outright confessed to shadow banning already on
12:17 pm
hidden camera one. that someone. don't want to share. there's even a lawsuit against twitter accusing it of discriminating against conservative voices by your employing its shadow banning tactic. but now that it's in the terms of service some users will just have to accept that they are talking to themselves it's not some books that twitter or facebook or any other social media platform have influence what they have is the power to promote certain people's opinion on d. promote tells the people's influence on twitter that is the critical thing and what we need to do is have a fair platform we need to have a free and open discourse and we need to allow everybody to have a similar right to say what they've got to say i don't agree with absolutely
12:18 pm
everything that he said on twitter not even the conservative stuff that we're talking about but actually it shouldn't be for these big tech companies to decide all discourse all discussion all debates in our own country that is manifestly unfair and it's not a business decision actually it's a public utility and that's a critical point where we've been on to twitter to get its reaction to the shadow banning fear is we haven't heard anything back as yet when we do we'll let you know its response here without tea from moscow the international olympic committee throwing its weight behind claims of anti doping tampering in moscow deliberately prompting a response from russia we'll take you through all that when we come back. so
12:19 pm
what we've got to do is identify the threats that we have it's crazy. let it be an arms race. spearing dramatic. i don't see how that strategy will be successful very critical.
12:20 pm
the head of the international olympic committee has backed the findings of the world anti-doping agency panel over alleged attempted results in the moscow data base russia strongly denies the allegations after issuing its own technical investigation and response. of a picks up the story. a group of russian technical experts have conducted their own investigation and rejected claims that moscow manipulated athletes test results in its lib or a tree database they claim that moscow has transferred all the information required to wada and never tempered with the results of the probe now it turned out that the database could have been altered by those who had admin access to the system and according to the experts those people would be the program developer and his team
12:21 pm
who actually back in 2015 fled to the united staes right as the doping scandal aska latest and russian experts say that they were the ones who tempered because they had admin rights russian experts have found that the developer of the limbs of the most. mr me get yours and his colleague mr so believe skee how to administrate access to the system as a result of the research the russian side has determined the database used to the most has been changed from time to time and after mr rajan of make a choice of socialist ski fled to the us the database had been in fact run via the internet from los angeles until june 26th the situation changed in 2016 when it was revealed that such manipulations took place the russian agency was guarded and 2016 within you had of the department appointed but a problem seemingly still exist there are actually 2 copies of the database one
12:22 pm
that was given to wada in 2017 by an unknown whistleblower and the other one provided by the russian side in general this year and the group of experts now believes that it is essentially wrong to compare these 2 copies because of their different origins while the 29000 copy was produced following all the necessary technical requirements the other came from unknown digital front here after possibly being tampered with and that is backed by avid and found during the investigation conducted by the experts. a russian led criminal investigation has found a mechanism of deliberate tampering with the doping test results deeply integrated into the lymph system so what do we have now well despite numerous offer is coming from russia to create a united and independent investigation team into this matter why don't has been either avoiding or even rejecting these attempts russian experts explain why they
12:23 pm
think this happened in this case we think during its probe what is intelligence and investigations department joy by all means not to undermine trust in the information provided by the whistleblower in the conclusions made by mr mclaren and now of final decision on the case will be made on december the 9th in paris russia could now face a 4 year ban from hosting major sports competitions and clean athletes made to compete under troll flack. next week's general election in britain seems to be the next russia linked scandal on the horizon the opposition labor party leaders being accused by the daily telegraph newspaper of helping to spread russian this information it's after he exposed the league documents on u.s. u.k. trade talks but it also comes just months after the very same paper published a story apparently based on a leak of the very same documents. it's crunch time ahead of the u.k.'s general
12:24 pm
election meaning it's now or never to smear anyone and everyone in red in other words link them to russia this week it's mostly comrade jeremy corbett as we can see from this headline bounce off the corp and produced a leaked cache of documents part of which he says reveals how pm boris johnson put the n.h.s. up for sale during trade talks with the us q damage control from mr prime minister the n.h.s. is not for sale and under no circumstances will this government any conservative government do anything to put the n.h.s. up for negotiation in trade talks or progress and if you know that those documents represent meetings that took place between a british minister and officials in the usa i think it's time they gave us the shorts that they will not sign off our n.h.s. that they will not sell off our public services as part of a trade deal with us and i just garage sales aside it's the least dossier that's grabbing attention if not from the russians when i could corbin's documents have
12:25 pm
possibly come from corbin calls it nonsense but among the pack of those demanding the labor party come clean it seems the daily telegraph knows better independent researchers said the documents carried the specter of foreign influence as they had been published online using methods that directly mirror an earlier russian descent from asian campaign the daily telegraph tools that conclusion from a social media a little that works with nato as atlanta councils think tank guaranteed impartiality then all maybe the guy is the telegraph are looking for answers in all the wrong places it seems the outlet got its hands on a strikingly similar dossier let's take a closer look here's an excerpt from the dossier corben what there was much talk which printed do you commission is the bad guys it is easier to change your regulation before it's finalized ok again that was from the leak obtained by the
12:26 pm
opposition leader and this from the dossier published by the telegraph 4 months ago see the difference. british negotiators said washington had repeatedly painted the e.u. commission as the bad guys american official said it was easier to change a regulation before it is finalized there was much talk which created do you commission is the bad guys it is easier to change your regulation before it's finalized well maybe we should ask the authors of the july reports who that source was did they have any russian friends who might have provided the documents also here's a tip keep a close eye on the online comments section some of it's really worth a look like this one posted more than 2 weeks ago with links to the very scandalous documents at the center of it all available for anyone and everyone to enjoy however it would seem that the people most concerned about the origins of the dossier happens to be those at the telegraph the u.s. u.k.
12:27 pm
trade talk minutes found their way onto the internet have you asked the cabinet office to investigate and if not do you think they should be. the answer is no. we've been on to the telegraph newspaper to see what it's called to say about the way it's been reporting all this if we have anything but we will of course let you know right that is it from r.t. in moscow for this hour from us in just over half an hour from now after watching the hawks in washington. the.

all the yes and the euro and the dollar they all refer to each other and they're all going deeper and deeper into debt so there's no basic there or there there's no so there's no way to measure the dead against something that is could be considered money remember j.p. morgan said only gold is money everything else is credit or debt ok so without that there is no way to measure that debt and there's no at the moment you know my my view is that this is leading to a neo feudalism or you have just a few private equity firms owing 98 percent of all the assets and everyone else is at a living as service on that we're getting back to the dark ages. in

rise of pax americana one of the running tragic jokes on the small blue planet is that you can stand on almost any continent throw a rock and you'll probably hit a u.s. military base with roughly $800.00 bases in over 70 countries around the world the footprint of the united states military on this planet is immense and quite often catastrophic to the communities that surround them take one of the favorite playgrounds of the u.s. military iraq where the intercept is now reporting that according to a new study children and babies born near the tile air base in southern iraq have not only been showing severe birth defects including near up near a logical problems congenital heart disease and paralyzed or missing limbs but also had corresponding elevated levels of a radioactive compound in their bodies no news for you now where oh where would you find the chemical element thore them you may ask well how about in the united states military frequent use of munitions containing depleted uranium one of the.
