4 years off. the world anti-doping agency shuts the door on team russia over what it said was moscow's tampering with a key doping database. cries foul saying it provided all the necessary ounces and claims it's been ignored. to take the decision to schools high schools fresh enough leaks from the punishment is harsh and politicised. following other news the leaders of russia ukraine france and germany have medical paris to agree on a peace road map to eastern ukraine and president putin holds his 1st ever meeting with the leader of ukraine.

hi there great to have you with us this is a. rush hour is being kicked out of all international sporting events for the next 4 years spanish when so says the world anti-doping agency for moscow tampering with a key database of test results from russia police. waters press conference in lhasa . what officials announcing a unilateral decision all of a 4 year ban on russia taking part in major sporting events during that period meaning that russian athletes won't be able to compete under the banner over russia nor will they be able to fly the russian flag at those major events. tokyo 2020 and also the world athletics championships is also suggestion that this could impact the football world cup in 2022 russia won't be able to host nor be able to bid for any major sporting events during. russian officials won't be able to go in an
5:02 pm
official capacity to those games nor will officials from russia be able to sit on the boards of major sporting committees or boards during that time when they were questioned about what that would mean for russian athletes who didn't have any cloud of suspicion over them when it came to doping allegations they said that each russian or fate would have to prove their innocence this is a ban against russia the protect the rights of russian each. entry for major is. able to demonstrate that they are not implicated in any way. complying what is important thing to these decisions. are really sanctioning those for responsible for this many pollutions and leave those open for those who had nothing to do with with. in russia clean.

plates well what it says in its investigation was the sale date was forensic and that investigation showed that the data it'd received from a moscow lobbying question had it believed to be tampered with this was that data from a moscow lab relating to information from 2012 to 2015 what the said that that was dated didn't match the data it received from the whistleblower which started this big scandal is that what it was said during that time in moscow in 2808 experts say that they had also seen that all the data had been tampered with and that's why they've taken this decision from the date it received $145.00 athletes they were able to pinpoint that had had a question mark over them we're not sure if they were rushing a lot but it said only around a few of those athletes were currently active now of russian. officials have
5:04 pm
a very different story to this they say that the data that was handed over. hadn't been tampered with that they had applied to all of the conditions and stipulations set out by wada and as a result of fans who saw that which is the russia being agency would be a feeling based decision on i asked to present want a response on that russia says it's rejected all of the allegations of data manipulation it says it's provided you evidence to counter to show that it didn't modify the data what do you have to say to that and was that taken account in your decision well i wasn't part of the c.r.c. discussion what i do know is that it was close cooperation between the want to expose under russian i'm not sure what conversations they had was what example of the russian olympic committee or rosado but those people who are interested are entitle to under the standard to appeal and if they wish to appeal they have 21
5:05 pm
days to accept this secession or not and if they do not if they wish to appeal then we will be in cash prize right disease clearly is technical you need to be a full range. and we pass it on immediately sure say thank you very much it does not change the opinion that the well was so there will appeal that decision meaning that this is likely now to end up in the court of arbitration for that court to decide who is right and who is wrong on this particular topic for the meantime though one perhaps ray of light water officials did say today that they was a possibility over changing this decision and that possibility rested on the full attempted dative being provided by that lump in moscow something that the russians say they have already done so. faulty.
5:06 pm
various russian sports federations have been quick to question why this decision. those decisions are biased inexplicably they're too politicized and prejudged they're punishing russia is the state which was connected to this story without showing any credible evidence is an absolutely normal transparent organization punishing the state and clean sportsmen and women why should that be considered for a. moment salute you sure it's wrong to punish and impose severe sanctions against those 100 percent meeting every wada and olympic committee requirement. what is decision is unfair it's wrong to treat sports men and women on the basis of their nationality i believe all sports participants have the right to represent their country on the international arena. paul green who's an international sports lawyer and it's great. because been all about
5:07 pm
the the law today and the analysis of waters announcement 1st of all and and it it surprises a lot of people i think because it goes against the the the usual legal presumption of innocence as i understand why there can presume guilt is that the case and and secondly do you think it's right that that's the case so you're talking about now the process of clean up what right is that what you're saying i'm talking about the fact that while saying that athletes have to prove that they are innocent normally in a criminal court you would be presumed innocent. right so it's it's it's a strange situation and this was the same situation as 2016 with rio where athletes had to go and prove there they were clean essentially what you're saying which is part of this decision in 2018 about 300 russians still ended up competing so you know we're athletes that were able to meet that standard but i agree with you it's
5:08 pm
a very difficult one and it's hard to really understand if you're applying as an athlete and you go ahead meet that bird so i agree with you it's difficult and it does seem unfair in that sense. but you know that is what the decision rule today i mean you say you say some fur i mean according to the u.n. general assembly voted several decades ago that it's a it's a human right the you know the the right to the presumption of innocence and yet want to get to head off in a totally different direction why is that why why sports a particular well so the presumption of innocence at least internationally the idea of a middle situation i mean the code in general puts enormous burden se i don't think coat in many different types of situations. but the come back to that always says well athletes who want to compete have to play by these rules there's many things that we can look at cerro unfair as an example athletes have to tell water where they're going to be one hour of every day and they're subject to being tested 24
5:09 pm
hours a day in any time anywhere and if they're not there then they can get charged with a missed half so there's a lot of birds on athletes under the coat. granted here with the russian outlets are now going to have to apply it much harder than other. but again this is something that russia's been dealing with now for 4 years. let me just paint a picture so you could have russia rather than ash russian athletes that could be russian footballers they could be passed this clean they're allowed to compete and yet they could be clean and competing with no reference to their nationality no use of the national flag no use of their national anthem which must be quite shaming for them as individuals why they are being punished if they're proven clean . it's a very difficult question i mean that's really more of a policy question and i'm not trying qualified to answer that one i mean i know that i as
5:10 pm
a lawyer an advocate of people who work in knots it's been in this situation i represented very close you know 2060 and prevailed on her behalf in what turned out to be her case was actually the last one for a russian athlete to compete and where the russian uniform unit track circumstance and it looks like nobody will do that in 2020 either and you know daria asked me that's in question when i 1st met her is how are we going to beat this bird you know we did buy rice establishing she never tested positive by showing her record by submitting an api david her decision was an overturned by the i.o.c. and then we ended up winning anyway we got that decision to nullify the earlier decision overturned but you know we're trying to explain this to an athlete who's just trying to compete it's difficult to explain to them it's that it's looking athletes who've never doped before getting caught up in stuff that's way beyond what athletes want to deal with they're not political they want to just go out and compete in whatever sport there are and i saw you had jannat sticks in weightlifting in and different types of sports most athletes are go are creatures
5:11 pm
of habit they train and they want to go and compete and unfortunately they're out there up in this is there is the possibly a situation where athletes a signing up for water regulations thinking well this is never going to affect me i am. not realising that you know this still danger there for them. well i mean i think most outlets are pretty ignorant to what how seemingly impossible the rules are in many circumstances until they get into it. and yeah i mean education is a big part of this in terms of explaining yes and i would think a lot of the athletes now are to go under standing yes i mean look they used athletes who are going to go to the u.s. olympic games in the side next month from russia are now banned in mustique improve their need and we're talking to some of these kids are 151617 years old so this is a far reaching decision just you know far beyond the headlines of what we're seeing about 20202022 olympics and world cup it affects the youth olympic games as well
5:12 pm
this begs the question in the exuberance the catch drug chait's of wada been allowed a bit too much leeway had too much power well i mean this is a tough question to answer because i'm on the other side representing athletes and i try not to get political i mean i try to focus on legal and what and the what is i mean it's a great policy question i guess somebody has to start at some point and what is the ones who are in charge i mean there is a mechanism for russia to now challenge the determination that was issued today they can go to the court of arbitration for sport and what it is answerable to them there's a 3 member panel that will or will oversee the case and volved in the 28000 cases well i was what you had the i.o.c. decision came down in december of 2017 and as it turned out 28 of those 39 decisions were nala 5 so it's not as if cases involving russian athletes haven't been overturned at the court of arbitration before. paul absolute pleasure to speak
5:13 pm
to you thanks so much for coming on r.t. international sports lawyer paul green my guest thank you for having me. in other news the presidents of russia and ukraine have held their 1st one on one talks this happened on the sidelines of the so-called normandy 4 summit on the conflict in eastern ukraine artie's corresponded it returned to has more from paris. this monday is a very big day here at the palace in paris it's a very big day for europe a very big day for ukraine just a short while ago we saw the french president and manual macron welcoming his guests from ukraine russia and germany the 1st one to arrive was angle of merkel then it was full dimmers and then skip ukrainian president and i'll tell you what we couldn't even understand if it was him for a moment because he came in on. the run no minivan and the last of the 4 leaders to arrive was vladimir putin just an hour before that though
5:14 pm
a group of topless femen activists thought that they could try and spoil the day. let me just break down why the number one politicians from 4 countries are holding talks in that building i'll tell you what technically the bloody conflict between the breakaway republics of donetsk and lugansk and kiev has been solved but there's one important remark it's been solved on paper now this step by step plan that several years ago was hammered out by the leaders of ukraine russia france and germany it's called the minsk agreements and i can tell you that for all these years from east to west from all kinds of politicians we've been hearing that this
5:15 pm
plan is the only way to go to support the implementation of the minsk agreement because the reason the alternative no plan b. exists. in my opinion this is the only way they can create a climate in ukrainian society where they were able to make painful compromises regarding the states. i agree with the chancellor i've also said there is no other alternative to the implementation of all minsk agreements with help of the. however if we look at what's really been happening on the ground in reality pretty much none of the steps were actually taken and now there is a new chance there's a new government in kiev and that's why the quartet is getting together for the 1st time since 2016 but more importantly we are expecting the 1st ever meeting between the president of russia and the president of ukraine since the civil war in that country broke out in 2014. a writer germany

a love the princess jasmine becomes the sultan in a remake of the 989 classic little black actress plays the lead role. ok this is this was joined on the line by resurfacing women's rights advocate and kind and took t.v. and radio host welcome to you both ladies for to 1st karen does it make sense to remake old classics in order to reflect the diversity feminism. this is political correctness god. i'm sad for little girls everywhere that it's no longer ok to be a housewife and a princess you know on the one hand we want to tell little girls that you can be anything you want to be and less it means being in a traditional relationship maybe being a housewife wanting to be a princess that it's not ok you know i'm all for equal rights and i'm all for feminism but this is just wrong there's no reason that we should take away fantasy
5:18 pm
and fairy tales and this story does just that this german father has rewrote this thing in a way where it just slaps reality in the face of children white children 2 be children let there be fantasy let there be play let there be fairy tales and princesses and princes and horses and unicorns and let's bring back childhood we're actually taking away the innocence of childhood when we do this and i think it's wrong reese what you think about those koans is is this killing the dream of young girls to be princesses killing from to see in childhood. absolutely not i think we've done young ladies a disservice for many many years by promising them this fairytale and pushing it into their head as a little girl so that when they grow up they're expecting to meet this guy who is ready to take them on as their wife and marry them and pay the bills and and be the head of the household and for a lot of women those the statistics say that that's actually no longer
5:19 pm
a reality and it's unlikely for many women millennial women this specific way because of just the economy being what it is and so if it's difficult for women to actually find husbands who are financially suitable then let's stop with the fantasy there's no need to continue telling this story now here's the thing about the story this version has been retold several times it was actually a german story that was told by the groom brothers back in the 18 hundreds and then taken over by i won't disney in $130.00 and so we're adapting this story and what we're currently doing is we're giving it a bit of an update why are we updating it because times have changed so karen it sounds good to allow children to live in this fantasy world but we've got to give them some truth so that they can begin to grow into skill sets in people who can actually function in the real world that's an interesting point reece makes cover and we don't we don't say i think the way we use today we you know we treat people differently to where we used to. some things just on acceptable and more don't we
5:20 pm
have to move with the times. you know i think there's enough reality slapping us in the face every day and i think there's enough reality for children i mean i think we're all very aware that women can be whoever they want to be and that we all have you know options in life and there is nothing wrong with reinforcing to girls that you know they're able to be anything that they want to be and you know just forcing down their throat that the only way that you can have validity is to have a career and that being a housewife is no longer ok i don't know that that's necessarily the right thing and i am all for women's rights and certainly you know i've taught my daughters to grow up and be you know self-sufficient empowered young women but if one of my daughter said you know what hey i have a guy who just swept me off my feet and he's going to take care of me and i just want to stay home and be a housewife and have children i would see nothing wrong with that and i think in some ways we've
5:21 pm
a race the gender roles were actually changing things to the point where you know we're taking away for men the opportunity to really be men and take a powerful role in society and i've said before that i am for traditional values and traditional roles when it makes sense but you know sometimes it doesn't make sense and yes we have to teach people the economy is changing we need to have an open dialogue but taking the 7 dwarfs and making them women and then having snow white travel around the world you know with the prince and they're not romantically involved i mean this is just changing the entire story and you know it's a place in childhood for ferris commune there's a place for fantasy and there's a place for santa claus it sounds wonderful to me i mean we all want to be a princess i mean i'm sure reese you would agree you know if you could find a guy on a white horse to just take you away and sweep you off your feet that would be a good fantasy doesn't mean it's going to happen but it's nice to read this story and why take that away from little girls. i think having
5:22 pm
a travel buddy sounds more realistic and frankly someone to go have a pina colada with is more my style anyway. reeses just want to pick up on how you like the pina colada idea their weekend a great one to pick up on what karen said resign oh please yes women who who do enjoy the old traditional role of the woman in terms of they wanna stay at home and look after their home and they don't want to work and they want to be taken care of and they do want to be kind of swept off the feet can we still have a place for people like that or does everybody have to now to you know the modern western approach of equality and everybody works and everyone has the same role. you know i love the concept of gender role i love the concept of being a stay at home mom i love the concept of a wife being the the neck that turns the head of the household it and basically is
5:23 pm
the power center for everything that every decision that's made but when we talk about reality for a little bit there's the concept called capitalism that sort of pushes those ideals those fancy ideals out of reality and so you know when you add that to the fact that some of these young men that are being raised are simply mama's boys and they're not really able or willing to go out into the world and earn a living and take care of a household on their own when you add issues like that when you realize that the cost of living has skyrocketed and tripled and you know there's things like student loan debt and you know the economy being what it is when you add all of that together the reality for so many women unfortunately is that we won't get to have that fanciful stay at home fairytale story it sounds good and many of us would love to have it but let's prepare some of these young ladies for reality so that we don't push them into a cold hard world where they have to sin for themselves and there is no one there
5:24 pm
to save them on a white horse. it's an interesting point we setting some young goes up for a full because they're going to be thinking ok i'm just going to wait for mr wright to come along i don't have to worry too much about my career and you know focusing on my personal progress because i'm looking for someone to save me. i think we've been fighting for equal rights in america you know since the sixty's and you know we've become very empowered women but i think we're actually creating mama's boys with a lot of this p.c. culture i think that's a big contributor to the problem that we're having i'm all for capitalism i love capitalism but i also love the idea of gender roles the same as reese does and i'm glad that that's. something that we can agree on because i think a lot of this p.c. culture and a lot of this sort of blurring of the lines has really taken away for men in our society and has turned these men into mama's boys were they don't feel like they
5:25 pm
have to be the provider anymore they don't need to feel like the prince is going to sweep in on the white horse and take the woman away and we've actually kind of emasculated them and i'm sad for the man of america these days and the men internationally i mean we're talking about this is an international p.c. story right now and i think we are a maskil izing that as time goes on with these shayne's is to our p.c. culture and i do believe we need to empower women but i don't think we need to emasculate men in the process and i think we should let the door speed worse than they should be males race in the in the i'm going to put the view of the budget so that everybody's happy want to just come up with new fairy tales and so the reruns and no one's that was the reason history has come up with new stories that better reflect the modern world. so like i mentioned earlier the story of snow why the 7 doors and actually many of the fairy tales that were adapted by walt disney. in the one tina early 1930 s.
5:26 pm
had actually been retold by the grimm brothers in the 1800 and actually the story of snow white stems from a story that was told back in india in the 15th hundreds of a queen who had a mirror and a talking parrot so here's the thing the story keeps updating and you know what i like the most about the most recent version of the story not about whether or not the dwarves are male or female or international and they represent all these different characteristics what i love the most is that instead of the prince kissing her and snow white waking up and now everything is beautiful and they ride off into the sunset and get very he actually is a close he's trying to carry her her her body in this in this in this cast not cassie but this glass coffin and he trips he's a cook and so he haphazardly you know bumps into or and she coughs up the apple and suddenly she's able to breathe again sometimes the truth of the matter is is that you know things are a lot clumsier relationships with men in there are
5:27 pm
a lot closer than you know we would like them to be all you know on a horse and coming in and sweeping it and so it's ok if we paint this story with a little more reality so that we are real and actually the grimms brother story actually has that rendition as well from the 1820 that has the rendition where they bump her coffin and she coughs up the apple so here's the truth of the matter men are just a little more closely than we'd like to admit and we're all a little more human and so rather than getting into this fanciful tale let's just as the elements that allow us to bring it to the future and allow our girls a chance to you know probably create a future for themselves that looks more like what they would like it to or what they're capable of having versus. far off distant fairytale that may never happen ok i'll just give you opportunities both just to make a final point and i just want to for concentra will say responsibility when you're dealing with children is it's a wedge a-k.
5:28 pm
them into telling them 1st you karen i think it's to entertain them and i miss the kiss i don't want some clumsy guy tripping over my casket in the woods or dropping me and dislodging an apple i want the guy to swoop in and kiss me and sweep me off my feet that's the fantasy it's a great love story let's not change it what do you think every said u.k. their own zip tying. i think we've got a role here to prepare these girls to take over the world and just like when they walk into the toys r us store instead of giving them baby dolls and barbie let them have the opportunity have astronaut that and other things that can prepare them to have an incredible future. ladies really enjoy speaking to us my guests t.v. and radio host and women's rights advocates resurface and thanks so much. as always a big thank you guys for tuning in last news going on today here on anti international
