* help for the clergy that were suspected of child sex abuse in the catholic church in new orleans so they were so essentially the archdiocese was reaching out to this n.f.l. team to say hey can you help us out with some p.r. because of the scandal that we're involved in with the abuse it took children that way everybody was being alleged right is alleged the end of you know the saints are saying it was a minimal we and they like to say minimally involved but for some reason they're not willing to release these e-mails that were sent from an n.f.l. dot com e-mail address they're like no no no no no unless they're admitted in court as evidence we're not going to release them and it's interesting because john's you know he's a survivor of abuse by priests as a whole network of these boys and girls and you know he kind of said something was really interesting to me and he pointed it pretty much right at the saints owner and we got to listen to it. i see most football teams including the new orleans saints as wanting to promote good will in the community and good will with

vulnerable children i see them in pediatric cancer wards and that type of thing here they're doing something that is in space so incredibly a methodical. use that's what he's pretty much you know he's angry as as any survivor of the sort of abuse would be that the saints are pretty much saying we didn't help the catholic church is you know kind of. tiptoeing around the issue saying the priests are involved on their side they're saying even if they did help us the priests who were involved are gone ok but there are 276 documents that the teams attorneys are trying to keep from the public 276 of the large number someone saying they had minimal involvement in this topic i can understand why people would be sitting up say like hey you know there's something there could be something fishy here when you're trying to keep that much a secret i get like where people might make that jump and allege the there was some form of and they do it and you know and the prosecutor actually you know they have

a statement saying in order to fulfill this role the saints must have known the specific allegations of sexual abuse against a priest and made a judgment call about whether those allegations by a particular victim that were against a named prius and its opinion were legitimate enough to warrant being quoted on the pedophiles list wow wow now i want to ask you this can't be any better for the mass of the football league with their image problem obviously we all know what's been thrown at them before the image issues they're facing but this is happening right the week of super bowl you know what what is this doing for the n.f.l. brand what's been their response to all this they actually are pretty much hands off saying unless something comes out of these documents in court. work on this count leave it where it is they're doing a very hands off approach and in spite of everything they've been going through this year you've had the fact that you're pretty much showing that you're not hiring minorities and people of color in your coaching staff something we discussed i believe last week you're having to deal with the issues of mental health and

continued year on year ever since and now less than half of u.s. citizens are content with their democracy this is a massive fall given that back in 1995 more than 75 percent of the united states citizens were completely satisfied with our democracy here well joining me now to offer their insights and opinions into why we are seeing these terrible numbers is political analyst and democratic strategist mr cross and the president of the eagle forum education and legal defense fund that martin thank you both for coming on as always wow. what i want to ask you that i mean the numbers are very clear it was an expansive world poll i mean that they definitely was i think some 4000000 people around the globe what do you believe accounts for democracies fall in popularity and support both here in the united states and around the globe i'll start with you mission here the united states i would definitely say we're seeing the middle class decrease significantly we're seeing the expansion of poverty we're seeing the criminalize ation of poverty in addition to the way that we are in this country

currently under this administration treating a lot of our immigrant community but i would also say that there's something else that extends even beyond this because when you talk about the ratings in 75 i look back to the fact that we've always had minorities people of color disenfranchised populations who by and large didn't buy into the american democracy already because many people have been treated like 2nd class citizens who are american citizens so when you are taking on a mantle of democracy is the best thing and it lifts all boats and that you know we care for our we care for our people and this is something that should be taken up across the globe i think that you 1st have to look at a lot of the things that you have done to subjugate people right here but i think that depending on the population that you talk to american exceptionalism has been a hard sell for a while for many people and today i think it's just expanded to more groups. people are feeling it and then did in the thirty's forty's fifty's sixty's and so on why do you feel that well you know it's a great question it's great topic and one of the things i think that happened is government got so big in america everybody thought anyone can make it the american

dream you know the old horatio alger story up from your bootstraps and not everybody got the same start i know that but everybody thought we could make it in 2008 exactly then people looked up and said wait the game is rigged it's not open everybody and they watch now through the lens of rigged and everything else with great good looks like the powers in washington if you're a republican or democrat senator your family's going to be rich your your your you know your kids are going to be taken care of the going to go the best schools you know look at somebody breaking down how many of the senators kids go to yale i mean they might all be that smart i don't know but so i think people think in america the game is rigged i think in europe and i you know we're seeing brecht said tomorrow and all and even south in the a few days ago in italy i think the people in europe are saying we don't see a bright future i'm not sure i know well enough to know if they think the game is rigged but in america used to be the rule of law was equal relatively i mean problems but now they know it's rigged in europe they say what's the future and they look around and see migrants and things changing so fast it's

fannie mae and freddie mac. they go they go forward in the way member of the bear the bailouts were because families lost their homes and as you say the rich got the top guys mozilo went to the caymans with their money and his guys went to jail but also student loans the student loan crisis that because government managed a system that made 2 sets of people rich the institutions harvard has and down in the billions and the people teaching at those schools that are on tenure track and all that they're not holding accountable in the middle isn't working working class people my point is where governments gotten bigger another one is more and more people are going up saying i work hard but my neighbors on medicaid why is that fair well there's reasons we want to medicaid but we didn't want his mother was so scary disability in the obama years they expanded dramatically you get social security disability for almost anything depression you got it and then you're on medicaid and medicare you're on medicare for that people said wait why is the system rewarding one group and not the other in other words the government's gotten bigger and it's it's decided who the winners and losers are and that's usually not we the people it's usually the people that are connected and all that but let's

normal situations you have to make do so you try to figure out a way to do it but we have to. take to washing our own clothes. the washing machines that they have you put your clothes in a bag. you take them to the laundry and. you don't know what you're going to get back in my d.h. goes back to my. not good at. the mold in the prison it's coming through the wall you bring in the field that. a lot of people sick. from that. not all it is the toilets to switch is bad. the kitchen. dishwater sit in a train from the day before

the feel of going there and speaking to people was sort of going above and beyond and and when it comes to prison issues in general we almost never hear about them on the mainstream corporate media and we especially don't have you know the big name journalists going there and speaking directly with the people who are impacted 1st and foremost the very rarely will you see that you know from all the people that you interviewed you about 1012 different individuals the you interviewed was there any one thread among those interviews that you discovered going down there that maybe you weren't expecting to find or something about mary well i think that i interviewed a multitude of people from an individual who spent 40 years in parchment prison to lawyers who have been working for decades to help the incarcerated people there and no matter who i spoke with they all said. they want parchment shut down they didn't just want small reforms here and there and sort of a new p.r. spin on it they want to shut down and they want people 1st and foremost with no violent offenses you know the car straight are released and then they actually have

action steps and plans to have parchment eventually shut down the numbers are staggering i think some 50 to 60 percent of people in question are there were nonviolent offenders so they said we should start with them and then work our way down another thing that was really interesting that the mainstream media has not touched on when they are reporting on this story is that the prisoners from parchment are just being transferred to the private prison that's up the road essentially so that's been the governor's sort of quick solution is just let's move out of the private prison well i got to say i can't wait for this to be released hopefully sometime next week we'll be able to see this awesome special report that you put together on parchment prison it's absolute fast springer watching reproducer thank you so much already that is our show for you today remember in this world we are told that we are loved up so i tell you all i love you i am tired old winter a keep on watching all those hawks out there and have a great big night. but
