so the politicians have basically stuck the american public with the delegates and they go for drugs and both parties who are financed very heavily by the pharmaceutical industry have done this so when people vote they should look at how much does this politician get from the power pharmaceutical industry. greetings and salyut
2:31 pm
a shim is 3 days yes 3 days it has now been over 3 days since the iowa democratic caucuses were held last monday night and despite 97 percent of the vote finally being released to the public. there is still not a clear cut winner in sight for most of thursday the gap between sanders was just point one percent with bernie winning the popular vote count by more than 2500 votes sorry mayor pete declaring yourself the winner and your move to become the next president doesn't mean you actually won no matter how much your campaign gave to the wanky voting out maker declaring yourself the winner well you see that only works if you're u.s. corporate backed on in venezuela then declare yourself the winner works for now you still have to let the votes actually be counted here in the united states. for now anyway and speaking of vote counts apparently despite 3 full days of stud counting
2:32 pm
the iowa democratic party and the d.n.c. still can't figure out how to even do that right according to an analysis by the new york times more than 100 precincts reported results that were internally inconsistent that were missing data or that were not possible under the complex rules of the iowa caucuses. but thankfully folks have no fear because the great man himself yes the chair of the democratic national committee mr tom perez himself has declared from up on high that enough is enough in light of the problems that have emerged in the implementation of the delegate selection plan and in order to assure public confidence in the results i am calling on the iowa democratic party to a mediately begin a re canvas. he recanted so so. tommy we are going to have to wait even longer. trust me tommy boy not you or your neo liberal friends
2:33 pm
shadow inc rachel maddow not even all the king's horses or all the king's men can put the public's confidence in you and d.n.c. back together again. thankfully we still know how to count around here and right now the vote count tells me that it is time to start watching the hawks. she wanted list in the city streets. that are so slick she says see the grass is always state see drone strikes graves suggests least systemic deception is to late show which would be so but just as. well have been watching the hawks i am tired and joining me to discuss the wait times and epic fail there's been a d.m.c. this week. democratic writers is the host co-host of r

t america's boom bust and investigative journalist one ben thank you thanks for all right man tom perot's calls for a vote recount in order to gain back public trust given the events of 2016 with hillary in the e-mails and all that is that even possible to rein gain back the public's trust and absolutely not for what you don't start to recant when you haven't finished counting in the 1st place good point i said this the other day one of our shows which is that if you took all of the votes that had been cast in these caucuses and then the caucus chair's got into their pickups in iowa and drove to the morning and counted them all it would have taken less time this at this point if they had walked them to des moines it would have taken this time look at the problem that we're seeing right now in terms of confidence and the big problem here . obviously some people are going to look at this and say it's a scam the whole thing was rigged was rigged against bernie you know his his connections obviously to shadow which can we just talk about the number 2nd why
2:35 pm
would you name your. company's shadow mothers who have named the legion of doom we're going to create an app for you that will use in order to. kind of but so confidence in the public here and there by the way is our c.e.o. highly secretive it up the problem with it is that all of this right is about this incestuous relationship not just by the way the democratic party republican party has the exact same problem but it's the incestuous relationships between campaigns advisers i was involved in hillary's campaign therefore i'm now entitled to build an app that i have no experience in building right this is what these guys have done and so what we're seeing is mayor pete $42000.00 that his his campaign paid to shadow inc in the summer of last year one of his main advisors is married to the c.e.o. of acronym who which is the company that ultimately acquired shadow inc and has run this $60000.00 went to them to do the iowa caucus $60000.00 for nevada and now they're not going to get to do nevada that money i'm sure will get returned but
2:36 pm
here's the problem is that all of this is perfectly and completely legal and this is what's going to blow people's minds to all of this bernie voters think you're for your candidates getting ripped off he's not. the actual system is already set up as a rip off primaries in this country are designed as private party events therefore f.e.c. rules don't count any rules form for what the d.n.c. has to say department homeland security they want to look at your app can't look at it and the reason you can't look at it is because it's a private club in a private entity and that's the problem here there is no cheating because the entire thing was rigged from the beginning not just against bernie the system is set up in a way that these private entities are able to run elections are not actually elections and it's really it really does blow my mind when you look at that because i think that that's what gets lost because every newspaper all of that says ok this is what's happening this is democracy this is a state if democracy was being run the way we've seen it run this last week. you
2:37 pm
know we would be you know invading the other country at this point saying that their leaders are absolutely we would have similarly we would but you can't say that democracy is run by private corporations and everyone would think that's a crazy idea but it's the same reason that we have closed primaries and sub states like you want to go in and vote and say well i'm a voter and i'm a taxpayer and i'm a citizen of this country have the right to vote in a primary actually you don't you actually have no right to vote in a primary and in some states if you're not registered with the party you can't vote in some states if you haven't been registered with the party for enough years you don't get to vote i mean that's the kind of system that we have so one thing that's that's a positive if there is a positive here is that the the mask is being ripped off a lot of this that it happened in the republican party back in 2012 and ron paul was right as a member and there were so many corrupt things that happened to strip delegates of their of their vote of their right vote rights remember mitt romney who's been
2:38 pm
making headlines in the last week he actually had the aryans see remove duly elected delegates from maine they took away everyone's right to come into the convention because they didn't like how they were going to vote even though they had the authority to vote the way they were going to and they replaced them with romney donors that's the difference was there wasn't a lot of media attention on that this time around because of the i think kind of the social media age that we've advanced to plus the fact that it's bernie this happened 2016 and so there's more attention on it now. hopefully this causes a change in that primary system and really across the board in terms of our entire election system i hope so too and it's so interesting that you brought up the rather big wigs i did i had completely forgotten all of the democrats are going through on their side to me it all just reeks of a big problem but i think you've talked about it before we need more than 2 parties have a lot of these issues would be solved if there was a party for the far you know well we do we have a little bit we have the libertarians we have the greens but the democrats
2:39 pm
republicans they don't let them into the game well they will lead them into debates and the main reason that you're not going to see libertarians or green party candidates ever gain traction is until you break this commission on presidential debates that controls who gets the debate now what i will say is this there is an opportunity to really make a case for 3rd parties right now because if bernie becomes amazing feat becomes the nominee i don't think he will i think that they we are seeing whether this iowa thing is or not there is a concerted effort to block him and to prevent him from becoming the nominee and i think that will happen if that does happen you will have none of the libertarian side this could be a tough year for libertarians this trumps kind of coalesce that which he hadn't in $26.00 that he did he has since then but in terms of the green party those voters are not going to vote against trump they're not going to say oh we're going to go ahead and vote with their people are going to vote with michael bloomberg they're not going to do it no and so you actually see i think a much stronger push into the green party and into that progressive side and that's what we need for 56 parties we would be much better off as
2:40 pm
a country in terms of everything that happens in washington the way legislation is passed the way that elections happen everything across the board but i want to say thank you so much for coming on and we got a mental breakdown over thank you. this week it wasn't just elections and political speeches causing concern in the world it seems that the ongoing violence and fighting in syria is once again coming up to a boil with turkey russia and the united states and more getting caught up in the latest headlines coming out about war torn country. r.t. american john from miami has war. it's a dangerous escalation in fighting threatening war between syria and turkey as turkish troops move into position to try and stop a syrian government offensive on rebel strongholds in the adlib province along the northwestern border with turkey turkey has backed rebel forces fighting syrian president bashar al assad's government during the nearly decade long syrian civil war the syrian cities of ablett in aleppo have seen some of the worst the most
2:41 pm
brutal fighting confrontations russia is allied with assad's government and blames a growing quote terrorist presence and the concentration of radical extremists in the so-called deescalation zone of northeastern syria for the renewed and increasing violence russia's foreign ministry said that there have been close to 3000 attacks by radical jihadists on syrian and russian forces since december resulting in hundreds of syrian civilians and government troops being killed along with russian and turkish military specialists according to russia's foreign ministry u.s. officials however are telling a different story blaming assad's forces and russian troops for the renewed violence and according to secretary of state mike pompei of this week quote preventing the establishment of a ceasefire the european union is calling for a halt in the violence and the opening of a humanitarian corridor as a reported half a 1000000 men women and children a flood be at liberty and since december the u.s.
2:42 pm
france and great britain have called for an emergency un security council session to address the ongoing situation in syria and iran delegation is expected to travel to entre to meet with turkish officials there there have also been reports that russian military contractors have squared off with u.s. troops on the highways of northeastern syria in recent weeks in fact a top u.s. envoy to syria james jeffrey said that russian personnel have quote on a limited numb. her of occasions violated de confliction agreements with u.s. troops moving deeper into syrian democratic controlled area and democratic controlled rebel territory and there are concerns that these confrontations could turn violent so far fortunately they have not well keep an eye on it for watching the hawks john hardy. as we go to break card watchers don't forget to let us know what you think about topics we've covered or other social media be sure to check out watching the hawks the podcast which is now available on spotify awful music
2:43 pm
everywhere you listen your favorite or not so paper podcast you can also start watching the hawks on demand through the brand new portable t.v. app which is available on smartphones through google play on the apple app store by searching portable t v coming up mr krause joins us to discuss how barnes and noble book stores of found themselves in hot water over a truly distasteful black history month promotion you don't want to miss the state to the hoax. in this community there are people who believe that it's ok to sell fractional food on my table it's really hard there are no jobs and you see that i've got kids that
2:44 pm
ask and as a parent. i can come up with lots of arguments and there's a lot of conflict within the game between the teams most of the conflict i would say revolves around money and most of them money is made. us $1.00 money to the cosimo each other is good business the state of california alone makes $6000000000.00 and you have to preserve complexes to get some 20 alive where. you don't care anymore nobody cares about you so you don't care mining anything. anyone else seems wrong why don't we just don't call. any. yet to seep out just to get answers. and in detroit equals betrayal. when so many find themselves worlds apart we choose to look for common ground.
2:45 pm
all right welcome back everybody and democratic strategist and mr cross joins us to break it down one interesting interesting promotion taken place during black history month take away what we are 6 days into black history month the month designated to celebrate the history and contributions of african-americans shortchanging blacks in america is that new after all the month is government allocated or group that literally built this country from the ground up and is the shortest in the calendar year to add insult to injury
2:46 pm
a fortune 1000 company and the bookseller with the largest number of retail outlets in the united states barnes and noble through salt in the wounds of black america diverse additions a joint project between barnes and noble and penguin random house featured 12 well known books the words were the same but the covers the major characters are featured in our get this in blackface to represent different ethnicities and backgrounds because using black based covers on white books in 2020 is just what the doctor ordered. the selection of books chosen featured classics like moby dick the secret garden alice in wonderland and the wizard of oz clearly black authors didn't write any of these books the closest the wizard of oz got to anything black was the michael jackson film remake it's not like barnes and noble doesn't carry black authors like my angela lengthens you toni morrison and the hundreds of others they just didn't value those authors enough to feature them during black history month thankfully the project has been pulled. another day another case of racism
2:47 pm
under the red white and blue we call the united states of america. a tennessee judge recently found himself in a lot of trouble after requesting to be allowed to work like a regular white man and not like a black slave and yes you heard it right this judge compared his job on the bench to slave labor according to the tennessean wilson county judge haywood berry issued an apology after being raked over the coals for his comments in context judge berry made the controversial comments while speaking to an attorney about scheduling a hearing for a black defendant on trial the judge was very upset because he didn't want to be subjected to working multiple judicial shifts in other words he didn't want to actually do the job he was elected and paid to do judge perry is just one example of the myriad of problems with our criminal justice system i mean should a man from barnes and noble to the criminal justice system it can't get worse than what you just i mean that's awful now i know you can't tell me because you're not
2:48 pm
on the board you weren't there if you were there this never would have happened but why do we continue to see mistakes like this by marketing departments in these major companies you know these very racist mistakes like barnes and noble and the group. who you know why are we seeing this over and over and over again i think part of it is just the sheer tone deafness and these types of major corporations are used to flying under the radar when they do racially insensitive things i think we're in a different era in american politics and also looking at the post obama era in general where these things are bubbling up and they're getting more attention i'm not going to say that they haven't always happened because we've seen is instances of these large corporations doing very egregious things not only in black history month but as it relates to honoring blacks through the charity of history so i think that that's problematic at barnes and noble that's that's a difficult sell for me even if they were to look at ebony magazine or any of the black publications and just choose to in random books that they put out and notice
2:49 pm
things that black people need to read or things that the country needs to read to enrich themselves on black heritage that would be fine but to choose book. letter written by all white authors and to change the color of the main characters of books to black babies to that somehow is supposed to diversify instead of actually choosing books that were written by black people is really frustrating that's the thing that gets me there is a there was brilliant brilliant brilliant black authors the truly i mean some of the greatest literature that this country this world's ever seen and you instead choose once again to kind of celebrate white authors but like ok well you know you have the black you know on the cover i mean it is it just it just hurts deeply i'm very curious though about the story as well with this judge perry in tennessee is there going to be repercussions for the i mean has he apologized but is there going to are we going to actually see him held accountable for those i was going to say oh but i know timothy well i went to college there i'm going to vote no i feel like
2:50 pm
what is going to end up happening is his apology and he's probably going to issue another iteration the next couple of days and the expectation is that it's going to just blow over he's going to fall on the sward of you know he he was busy this wasn't exactly what he meant and i think that it's going to it's going to blow over because the judges in tennessee and judges across this country feel the exact same way we know that they try to move things across their docket extremely fast that was one of the reasons why we have such higher rates of african-american people in general being over incarcerated over sentence because when you've got a docket of 30 people and you've got to get through this thing and 2 hours or less which i've seen here in d.c. it's a very interesting process where you just see them they're barely even reading the case and they're pushing it through and this person is automatically jailed so i think that to the larger context the issue is also the fact that these judges aren't being held to the standard they should be and i would hope that because these are elected roles that comments like the one that he made whether there is a representation or not on behalf of the judicial system there should be one on behalf of the people when the ballot box this time from the vote again oh i hope so
2:51 pm
because look it speaks to his character look i've been stressed never had to use i've never had to despair. race would have felt stressed. because i'm good and overworked like normal people don't do that now i'm thinking people don't be like hey you know what i'm going to do i'll make a slavery reference right now and we just have to be honest if there is no work in america that is a quibble that's what slaves endured so you know that it's extremely highly offensive it's absolutely incorrect and this man is being paid for his work this is not the same with slavery at all though of course labor can we just saw and he's in a position of power but in a position of power within the community at the end of the day this is everything the exact opposite of being a slave i will say thank you for bringing those 2 stories for our attentions to grow you know like this next one all right folks the super bowl is finally finally in the books i even made 50 bucks on the squares 1st time ever i've even done squares and things definitely definitely appeared to go you know without a hitch the big game commercials were the m.v.p.
2:52 pm
was deserving and like clockwork it appears that once again the super bowl halftime show brought a blast of controversy but the question is did it really was the halftime act really that controversial or was the controversy actually a media creation or just sold newspapers and generate clicks r t america sports producer regina hamm joins us now with the story it's an interesting one i think going to tell me the sign that says 0 days since last incident because you're seeing this happen a lot so pretty pretty much that you know this author gil smart he wrote an article in the treasure chest newspaper is it is it a subsidiary of can that who owns usa today he was this article about there should be a warning there needs to be parental like mature audiences only on this super bowl event featuring performers that are closed and not obscene ads
2:53 pm
like you can raise a. p.g. rating you know according to the motion picture has some nudity and hints of you know profanity there was no. and of those no one was naked no one was doing anything inappropriate and this author had like 12 likes on it on his twitter page however usa today goes you know what there's a sect of people that are starting to get read by the i don't know people who aren't white being proud of their femininity and bracing their sensuality let's let's push 842400 likes for you know 43 thout 4300 replies to this article in usa today almost made on the it was in the front page of the opinion section granted this is one man's opinion on women so let's let's take that with the smallest baby violin possible in the store but when that's enough it is rather crazy absolutely and you know regina this just highlights one of the issues we see when the media pulls and i'm security and makes it national news do we see a trend of this among mainstream media you do you see a lot of maybe
2:54 pm
a small writer or a very extreme take and the writer is a small television station newspaper radio what have you and they're owned by these large media conglomerates they go you know what that guy he'll get us the clicks he'll get us the views let's push. killfile is on or whoever is good you know 'd write this article and let's make him our headline so he of course he's getting the attention and reaching to that group of illegals who go i feel seen that i feel like i'm reaching to that group of people i meet you me to know ok we now have a new group of income we can tap into these people over here publishing stuff by this person oh we're going to get them more interested and i think if you continue see it happen it's kind of a rage machine over and over again like it was just feed the rage machine because that that's what i mean we see it in politics all the time like when people get upset it's like oh good yeah we'll focus on like this one person was upset with when trying to not it's nan who seemed to me more in favor of this article than what like you have any women of course like my you have explained to my children you're like there's a time and place you'll have a discussion it'll be you'll be fine but as more men you were angry and support you
2:55 pm
know gill smart's article there saying wow this is great i totally agree with you there need to be you know but you're the same people who are going to go watch the dallas cowboys cheerleaders who wear less clothing and use similar styles of dance that is very interesting and you know those are people that go you know i'm going to go find him i'm going to go maybe scribe usa today more thing to put out content like this so it's pretty and great found a niche means for me is going to find and that seems to be also do this with this rule every year that absolutely it is this is not new and we've seen this now for at least the past 15 years whenever there is that ironically it only happens when the female performer did not hear it when the lead singer group was there gyrating with them or actually you don't see that you see it mainly when it's women because i think society as a whole can't stand when women are strong independent and are doing their own thing and pretty much killing it but adam levine's ok. ok i didn't complain about that. but i don't want to cut it out of the hold on hold it back. you know it's true that
2:56 pm
you know this whole superbowl controversy thing to me that's all i said it's just it's the self-perpetuating bigots like every year ok maroon 5 they didn't he took his shirt off about that there was like a little bit of but not really much but it is it's every year it's the same thing somebody is going to solve while because it all goes back to why. janet jackson apparently the world back when she accidently exposed her breast or on purpose apparently that was too much for america and the world to take and we have to stop the super bowl just america around the world like ok and you know that's the kind of thing and i think that we don't hear these arguments after you know grammys performances and the amazing thing like that where these entertainers are literally doing the exact same thing that's a great point that's a great point i want to say i do want to say thank you both for coming on the day always a pleasure regina great job on the sports pleasures always also thank you so much all right everybody. while we've been seeing many of the emperors without their clothes one planetary scientist with nasa decided to take off earth's great blue garment to get a better look at what's going on underneath. in

a new simulation scientists james o'donoghue decided to give us an in-depth look at just what the earth would look like without all of its water he did this by upgrading an animation mass of physicists an animal horace mitchell created in 2008 and adding in all new information we've discovered about the bottom of the sea revealing the ancient land bridges and other colossal features hidden under the waters not only gives us a glimpse of the earth's past when most of this water was broken in glaciers but it also reminds us of just how important the blue is on our small blue planet i don't want to live on a 10 planet i love the water here let's try to preserve it that's what's most important about is that that's native look at what this earth would look like without a single drop of water on it. well ladies and gentlemen that is our show for you today remember in this world we are definitely not told that we are loved enough so
