to narrow down to one alternative candidate so i think now you have a had all had not ok the conventional wisdom is that the super tuesday map was in bernie sanders favor. what went wrong when i think a few things went wrong it was in his favor so long as the moderates which inviting the vote larry the minute it went one on one then. someone might not reach the mathematics changed completely and one thing to remember about super tuesday if you're as old as we are at least you can remember when the state of the southern states all moved up because back in the eighty's they wanted to to to bring the south back to the table and what they ended up bringing to the table are who they ended up bringing to the table with jesse jackson because a lot of these 7 state primaries on the democratic side i dominated by older and african-american voters so what you saw was biden states and between base of

older voters and bernie's base of younger voters you want to put your money on the older voters and they are your voters i think my money on the older vote is a great deal worries about but i would think you would i don't try to put myself in his head. or out of it all. in all seriousness i don't try to. handicap what he's thinking but i will say if you have strategist if you have smart people around him they would obviously much rather i think. rather gives bernie remember this super tuesday it was interesting the mathematics wasn't there wasn't that surprising the biden surge right because all these people to drop tell everyone who was supporting me was already supporting bringing young people generally don't go vote but he has a very impressive ground game get out the vote effort in the primaries you see all these national polls and it makes me laugh you know i've been talk about this for 20 years rudy giuliani was winning by 25 points in the national polls and never got

over 3 percent of the primary and so these are these are local elections are about who who actually gets out to vote choosing will the democratic party unite behind by. most if the will of the establishment democratic party is you know saying it's prayers this morning and. you know escaping for sure defeat i think i think the national party will the trick is going to be how long can bernie keep this weekly match going and how will you bring his folks in at the convention do you expect bloomberg to give money to buy absolutely he's right now and i sing to show it says if he fades away he just got a 0 return on investment for $700000000.00 whatever that's not what he wants to be remembered for i think he built an incredible media operation an incredible data data bank he's a he's a data guy and he's bringing a lot of high tech data to the table it'll be very important for biden and helpful but you agree completely agree and meanwhile it's been polling for bloomberg for 3

months every night they've got a lot of information they are very savvy and i think bloomberg is not going to be the problem that the democratic party is an establishment party will come together the challenge is going to be the the challenge is going to be is burning going to come in you know that's the issue lizabeth war and i don't know which he's going to end up but i think she's going to be part of the group but there's one thing that unites most democrats and that's why don't the young vote they come to rallies but they don't vote i was sharing the story with you i think we've talked about this before in 2000 i think there was about 18 percent turnout in the under 30 vote so they started rock the vote and spent hundreds of millions of dollars and jay z. and celebrity were 19 and that's the next it was 18 percent and so so i think that's how i've been doing this and i can't speak for young people anymore but i can say they're not reliable on election. do you think there's bloomberg support

will be made you know if you goes out much money it's got a right i do i think we learned the headline for all the people worrying that you could buy an election no you can't rent out the headlines you can't buy an election and i think that's good news right bernie bernie lost a little bit of a scare tactic there but i thing. his what's important about mike bloomberg is his infrastructure but he built a world class almost you know ken melman david plouffe type organization in about 100 days which is incredible faster than the chinese and i think i say that really if you think that beatable oh i think trump is definitely beatable i mean trump should be 20 points up larry you've got the strongest economy unemployment numbers if this were anybody other than donald trump he would be sitting like ronald reagan was sitting in 984 the fact that he's not tells you that a lot of people may mean green with some of his policies but there's a lot of uncertainty around this man and it's going to be

a question of can joe biden convince them that he's a safe choice he needs to be safe so joe biden has to be careful that he's not john kerry. where you can't just be the safe choice and that's the only thing i might slightly different is that if you're just a safe adult in 2004 all of the experts and i mean everyone in the media george bush had a 29 approval 3 consecutive quarters of negative growth and he had a lot of things i mean you could go on and on and they established one of the democrats in the media any adult candidate that sounds rational and sane is going to win well but liberals from massachusetts may be an exception to that rule maybe you know what i say senator biden i think about it in a very electable candidate he looks like a president he sounds like the president he's been the vice president for 8 years i will likely support him but he has to be careful because air force one. the incumbent the founding fathers built this thing for continuity of government versus right the incumbent always has a little bit of an event big. and so i think it's going to be tough. you mentioned

john kerry was a c.n.n. . and all day we were looking at exit polls and stuff we told you that was the beginning of modeling and so i thought i was just going to say i was sitting on the air and i was looking at an exit poll of fox and i realized there were way too many women in the sample and it was one of those moments where you open your mouth and nothing comes out because you know if you're looking at it. that was about this point and if you remember we made this is caution is that i actually had a pool of reporters down in the bottom of the headquarters and i brought them up at night you don't explain to them that there were too many women and not enough to spend it and so i brought them up and then we had a little 20 minute briefing and within one hour you know it was it was just awful to be sitting there and you just saying that the democratic establishment is ganging up on and trying to snuff out his revolution is that fair. you know who is

the democratic establishment i think members of congress are not eager to have a revolution right now i think they're going to hold on to the house i think most people who are on the ticket somewhere are looking to get reelected and get elected in the 1st place and i think there are quite a few democrats up and down the ticket who are nervous about having a socialist on top i don't think that's that's unfair i think that's just a realistic assessment of what the odds look like and different just think about how many words of you diagram that sentence the establishment who is that and where are they right number 2 ganging up on a revolution by definition you can't snuff out a revolution and then you have this kind of is it fair nothing's fair in politics so i think if you look at that sentence it sounds like he probably sees the handwriting on the wall that his support has a ceiling. the whole idea was bringing in this whole wave of new voters and we haven't seen that whole wave of new voters coming in and that's no disrespect to

burning i mean this is been going on larry for. years it's not easy to get people who are not used to voting to vote broad obama has not publicly endorsed anyone although he said he will support and campaign for whoever the party picks what do you think was the obama factor obama is only plus for joe biden i mean to be by obama solid reminds me of the good old days i think barack obama can raise money i think barack obama can build crowds but at the end of it a presidential politics is about. the guy or the woman who's up in the center of this stage at the top of the ticket that's all that matters notes aren't tangible fungible you get about one usually given away you got about 100000000 people a little wake up after labor day just the kids off at soccer turn on the television debates look at 2 people watch for maybe 10 minutes and make a decision for right and so i think barack obama the question people thought around

words like support and endorse and campaign what really matters is how active they are president obama will support bernie sanders but i promise you he'll do more events he'll fly to more fundraisers he'll make more phone calls for joe but. very popular years of course yes of course should behave you know is a great president ok what does trump do tell me about the trump biden campaign so what's interesting is trump has fundamentals you know he's the incumbent he's got our force one right now if even with all the market fluctuations people for one case have grown drastically in the last 4 years the stock market's done well the stock market still up 30 percent even with all the drops so he has in theory all of these tailwinds right but the problem with trump is trump right. he can't get out of his own way even on the coronavirus right he can't he had about 9 messages in one speech so that if he would actually said this in the last 30 days against senator secretary clinton if he would just stop talking he would actually do

be very thoughtful you can't talk about diversity for 4 years and then you know it was 7 white guys on stage you know however many white guys or whatever it was and you're down to 2 old white guys and i think they're going to be very thoughtful about diversity 1st of all because that's something that the party is a party put front and center but also i think you know i think to me would make a she would make a fantastic candidate and she's smart she's witty. she is could bring a lot of drama just because she's kind of a cause a celebrity and likes to be so i don't know a lot of drama how about damning with faint praise they have. you the rest of us me as a. v.p. candidate but remember the 1st rule you know harm i mean i think i can say for sure it in general people don't vote for vice president or president benson would have gotten elected mayor. and i lay back and. by the way i mean no disrespect all i'm

saying is as a v.p. candidate you want your v.p. candidate to be safe and boring you don't want to hear a lot and you don't want to have a pretty you know you know old friend paul begala predicted this week that tense will be dumped and he will be replaced by the former u.n. ambassador do you see any light in that. i don't see trump taking any chance with somebody who's going to outshine him going back to what i just said about the you don't want to celebrity v.p. you know trump is the show right so why in the name of one ever in pants he has the guy he appears and disappears i can't remember what he looked like here you see ken is this he's a solder not like a great character larry on this on this topic there's 2 conversations there's 2 conversations that happen 7 days a week all year round with political consultants and that is contested conventions and changing v.p. that's and i'm neither of them that everyone has that makes every consultant feel relevant right and i remember in our own west wing and george w.

it as a country yeah i actually don't think i would have even had him go to the podium this is a moment where this is this is the most right now where you have all these different scientists and cabinet members and officials that are experts and you put them out there and let them do their job and let them talk about it part of what is it possible but. it is hard to mind believes the rush limbaugh theory says the terrifying thing there is that you can even ask us that question. i mean here we go. and and it's rather terrifying i have no idea i don't know the man but i do know they did a time when people need reassurance it's just not providing so. this particular moment in the presidency presidents every president has his moments right people are scared they want to feel called they want to feel at ease including if that

means you have to tell them bad news it's about how you tell them about what the implications of the bad news is so i think the all the conspiracy theories i think i'm not speaking for trump or trying to get to this had but i think the reid tweeting of all the i think he knows how to rile up the crazies and i think he knows how to get people worked up and i think i don't know whether what he believes about i will tell you this. it doesn't it's not helpful when you're getting conflicting messages coming out from the white house period not helpful is another understand what will the debate by drum be like. and we'll be nasty i think trump will trying to get under biden's skin and biden will do well to stay above it all. and just stick to his points but trump can't resist i mean i think we're seeing with the very rich that every person around him has got to be telling him to stop tweeting about

a virus that is killing people and he can't stop themselves right and he can't stop himself from pit playing politics with it so i think the problem with the trump debate is it will be whatever term feels like in that particular nanosecond one thing i was surprised about is i expected. to be a disaster in the debates against hillary clinton because he's generally off message temperamental still. behind but but all i understand there are other than a few mean moments he actually wasn't. he wasn't as big of a disaster as i thought he would use it television staring at his t.v. he knows that even though they feel like carolina knows how to play and let's face it he had hillary's number and he had a certain way of playing off in a very successful way i think the one thing joe biden has going for him and i think this is true of most of us who've known him for years joe biden is a really nice guy is not a bad guy he's not a. vicious guy he's

a decent honorable man do you make trouble right now shanta still has your shot to make. sure you have to you have to make him the favorite you get a stronger economy you get burning still nipping it you get you know a very powerful incumbent president favorite but i'm not. it cannot the curtain says you have to be careful whether we're asking the handicapping question which is who's the favorite or can he beat those are 2 different questions people conflate all the time i think if you're handicapping with my money if i'm underwriting the bets i'm taking the income but every time i think of you asking can donald trump be beat the answer is yes what's the house going to stay democratic. it's a lot more likely to stay democratic today than it was last week. i think a lot of people worry about bernie on the top of the ticket and what they could do in terms of buying habits. but will have far more court coattails the bernie would

you know republicans keep the senate. i think. you said you know i think. that i can't but i can but i think you can they keep it up slowly because remember the senate is kind of the fire wall for sanity is where the adults are the perception is where the adults are right and i think you have a lot of independents who like that balance and so yeah i think i think what do you make of all this chaos i mean the whole ball away government split republicans hating democrats democrats say i think he experienced you know i think it's extremely sad because anybody puts their head up in this atmosphere gets chopped off. no matter which side you're on take it lightly controversial point of view and somebody is you know sending a threat and you're an ignorant slut in this villany your incivility of the debate is just unfortunate i think not just for one party or the other but for the country

think again that nobody wants to play. and say it's one of the reasons the dregs of the professional gene pool go in to run for office and right it's not the best of the brightest you don't graduate from stanford you don't graduate from places anymore and i'm going to capitol hill as much as you did in 1050 will destroy have to debate about. it but they have the commission and they commission on presidential debates and the i think we finally after years of civil war settled it 2 presidential and one vice presidential and you know if they don't debate you show up with that get all the rallies and you quack quack and you have the and it becomes but when they want to remember we've talked about this larry so many times plato wrote a long time ago that late stage republics deteriorate into democracies and people love to talk about our democracy and we say what democracy that wasn't the intent but i think social media and donald trump have accelerated whether you think it's good or bad we've gone from this representative republican now understood was to

have electoral college right but now we're heading into this talk or see and it is incredibly interesting told each manchanda is can now ask for she could share but. i'm sure that's the case but it's so the way that typically works is it's a case by case it depends on spikes and some threats and chatter and all those things and so they make a decision president obama got it senator obama got it really early it just depends on the threats and it seems logical but yeah i mean i remember i had to force my candidate to accept secret service but you really have to once you get in the limelight you know you have to be protected and sadly if you need crazy people out there don't you think nowadays with social media because. i know that it wasn't like this even under those of us with nowadays the quicker you look secret service the quicker you look like a president it's presidential looking to have the grass he suffered from the security it is anything else that keeps you away from people and there are many get some good service and i discussed this with clinton at one point me because the
