going on so joining us to explain investigative journalist and co-host of boom bust ben swan weighs in all right ben so bezos made this transaction in early february so he was way ahead of the coronavirus curve taking center stage do you think he was just i guess ahead of what was coming or do you think there was something else that might have motivated him to dump the stock. you know i don't believe for a minute that he was somehow the swami and had this feeling like the markets were just suddenly going to go down and so he decided around february 11th to sell more stock than he sold in all of the previous year and 2019 in 12 months he sold less stock than he did in just a couple weeks in february so that tells you something right there. was a centrally dumped as you said anywhere between $3.00 mil $1000000000.00 and $4000000000.00 worth of stock it was a very surprising move in fact i was looking at headlines back around february 11th

and at the time the headline said things like it was just dumped $4000000000.00 for the stock and no one knows why there was no rhyme or reason for it there was no indication at the time that oh this this makes sense because x. y. and z. are happening in fact everyone was saying no one's really sure why this is happening than a couple weeks later we find out that of course the stock markets are crashing and you know it seems like maybe those was ahead of the curve but you have to look at it and say did he have information. well then i mean from the outside doesn't this kind of seem counterintuitive you know about the coronavirus fears because if an amazon stock way up because of their their new role it's kind of shifted from you know an e-commerce site now more of this vital delivery and logistics capacity. no one stock is way up right now and even amazon has seen its stock drop look at amazon's getting a lot of business right now and so they're proving out their business model in

a lot of positive ways but that doesn't mean you can't dump the stock and then on paper saving yourself money look he saved himself hundreds of $1000000.00 as you said about $300000000.00 on paper obviously eventually that stock will probably come back up almost definitely it will but on paper he savings of about $300000000.00 by dropping that stock when he did and of course you can always go back and buy it later at a lower price if you choose to do so but it's also important to remember middle of that. at this particular point that we're looking at the other members of congress who also did the same thing around the same week almost of the exact same time that jeff bezos is doing this sitter richard burr did the same thing he dumped about $1700000.00 worth of stock and it was his own cell at the time he bought nothing new he just sold after he received. intel briefing from the c.d.c. and then kelly loffler of georgia she and her husband sold about $3000000.00 worth

are asking the government for a bailout now how might this affect their stock. well look i think everyone as you said is asking for a bailout right now and it looks stocks made a little bit of a rally today it wasn't huge but a little bit of a rally some things are up a lot of these will come back but yes you're absolutely right that everyone's asking for a handout the private jet industry luxury jets is asking for a bailout from the government saying we may go under why would taxpayers pay to camp private jets existence boeing as you said is asking right now for a huge bailout but boeing's problems are not coronavirus related they're related to the crash of those max $737.00 jets that killed hundreds of people that was where their problem started from so everyone right now is lined up everyone is asking for money from the government and what's really scary about this is that the longer this the shutdowns go on the more that government will ultimately decide the winners and losers they were able to really decide who survives as a company and who does not and right now the reason the congress can't get a bill passed for this you know $2.00 to $4.00 trillion dollars in emergency
