right. my. right. hello there are a manila chan you're watching in question broadcasting live from r.t. american national headquarters in washington d.c. we want to welcome our viewers from all around the world here's what's making headlines today 1st some top corporate executives even lawmakers sold their stock shares right before markets crashed which was triggered by coronavirus spears is this the definition of insider trading we're going to discuss that next plus imagine a coronavirus quarantine center with a view well that's actually happening at
5:01 pm
a beach front beach front park rather in los angeles and many r.v. dwellers are not really happy about it a live report on that straight ahead now russia sends 9 planes packed with medical aid and supplies to virus stricken italy the mission being dubbed from russia with love all right it's time to boost your news i q. first up amazon boss jeff bezos saved himself over $300000000.00 by dumping $3400000000.00 in amazon stock before the coded $1000.00 pandemic hit the united states and he's not the only one a number of high profile execs have done exactly the same just under $10000000000.00 worth collectively of stock was dumped by corporate bigwigs between february 1st. and march 19th leaving many wondering if anything suspicious was
5:02 pm
going on so joining us to explain investigative journalist and co-host of boom bust ben swan weighs in all right ben so bezos made this transaction in early february so he was way ahead of the coronavirus curve taking center stage do you think he was just i guess ahead of what was coming or do you think there was something else that might have motivated him to dump the stock. you know i don't believe for a minute that he was somehow the swami and had this feeling like the markets were just suddenly going to go down and so he decided around february 11th to sell more stock than he sold in all of the previous year and 2019 in 12 months he sold less stock than he did in just a couple weeks in february so that tells you something right there. was a centrally dumped as you said anywhere between $3.00 mil $1000000000.00 and $4000000000.00 worth of stock it was a very surprising move in fact i was looking at headlines back around february 11th
5:03 pm
and at the time the headline said things like it was just dumped $4000000000.00 for the stock and no one knows why there was no rhyme or reason for it there was no indication at the time that oh this this makes sense because x. y. and z. are happening in fact everyone was saying no one's really sure why this is happening than a couple weeks later we find out that of course the stock markets are crashing and you know it seems like maybe those was ahead of the curve but you have to look at it and say did he have information. well then i mean from the outside doesn't this kind of seem counterintuitive you know about the coronavirus fears because if an amazon stock way up because of their their new role it's kind of shifted from you know an e-commerce site now more of this vital delivery and logistics capacity. no one stock is way up right now and even amazon has seen its stock drop look at amazon's getting a lot of business right now and so they're proving out their business model in
5:04 pm
a lot of positive ways but that doesn't mean you can't dump the stock and then on paper saving yourself money look he saved himself hundreds of $1000000.00 as you said about $300000000.00 on paper obviously eventually that stock will probably come back up almost definitely it will but on paper he savings of about $300000000.00 by dropping that stock when he did and of course you can always go back and buy it later at a lower price if you choose to do so but it's also important to remember middle of that. at this particular point that we're looking at the other members of congress who also did the same thing around the same week almost of the exact same time that jeff bezos is doing this sitter richard burr did the same thing he dumped about $1700000.00 worth of stock and it was his own cell at the time he bought nothing new he just sold after he received. intel briefing from the c.d.c. and then kelly loffler of georgia she and her husband sold about $3000000.00 worth
5:05 pm
of stock at the same time now for her part loffler has come out and said look i don't buy and sell my own stock that's being done by a 3rd party had nothing to do with me in which are birds case he did it himself and by the way he's from south carolina he also has now recommended him so far for an investigation by the ethics committee which is basically like saying i want my family to investigate me not not an actual you know prosecutor ok i don't know what to make of obviously the people in congress because they do we know for a fact they do get the intel directly from the top down but on amazon's part what about that what about their role shifting right now during corona virus they've kind of like i said they now are kind of being used for their their logistics and their delivery capability is right. well they are is and right now amazon it looks like in king county in which is the home of seattle but in washington they are now delivering coronavirus test kits they're picking them up and delivering them it's
5:06 pm
a program that's been funded by the bill and melinda gates foundation these are not regular drivers by the way according to amazon these are drivers who have been given specific training in how to handle you know medical supplies and medical kits but yes they are expanding their role certainly in that way and in the u.k. is talking to amazon about doing coronavirus delivery for test kits there as well so you do see that expansion i would say one of the bigger upsetting things about amazon's expansion right now is the use of alexa use a lot of a lot of their tools to monitor people's behavior and then passing that information on to the feds that's been happening also so well and it was all maybe helpful in terms of handing out kids they're also being pretty invasive into a lot of people's lives by sharing information with the government who wants to monitor everyone's behavior right now yet you and i always talk about that subject that's why i have unplugged alexa she's not welcome in my house anymore good last last thing here ben a lot of blue chip companies big names like boeing and all these cruise liners they
5:07 pm
are asking the government for a bailout now how might this affect their stock. well look i think everyone as you said is asking for a bailout right now and it looks stocks made a little bit of a rally today it wasn't huge but a little bit of a rally some things are up a lot of these will come back but yes you're absolutely right that everyone's asking for a handout the private jet industry luxury jets is asking for a bailout from the government saying we may go under why would taxpayers pay to camp private jets existence boeing as you said is asking right now for a huge bailout but boeing's problems are not coronavirus related they're related to the crash of those max $737.00 jets that killed hundreds of people that was where their problem started from so everyone right now is lined up everyone is asking for money from the government and what's really scary about this is that the longer this the shutdowns go on the more that government will ultimately decide the winners and losers they were able to really decide who survives as a company and who does not and right now the reason the congress can't get a bill passed for this you know $2.00 to $4.00 trillion dollars in emergency
5:08 pm
funding to go through is because lawmakers keep stuffing it full of special projects and rules they want to put on companies to say if you're going to survive as a company here are the new rules you have to abide by and so there are so many problems with this this is why government is not supposed to keep businesses in business it's a huge problem and it's only going to get worse meanwhile all the regular folks are going what about us all right ben thank you so much for china from a far looks like we'll be doing this for a while my friend ben swan catch him on boom bust at 4 pm eastern here on r.t. thank you manila thanks. a lot angeles county is making way for kobe 1000 patients at get this a beach front r.v. park even asking the residents there to pack up and move out at least temporarily artie's natasha sweet as the wife and playa del ray with more details to this natasha what's going on there. yeah manila you know los angeles county has named dr

weiler beach an isolation zone for kopechne 800 patients just to give you an idea. we're about 15 minutes south of santa monica and this r.v. park is normally extremely popular as you can see because of the spectacular views that it has for right now it's close to both the visitors and residents and so normally this 3 mile shoreline is packed and right now it has a different kind of energy los angeles county officials are asking the public to avoid this area as they establish on a virus isolation zone dock while r.v. park will reportedly serve as a temporary housing for those without homes or to those who can't sell isolate there are as many as 70 r.v.'s here at the site i guess were asked to vacate due to the need for emergency shelter related to the pope but 19 virus on its website the state park noted camping reservation holders will be contacted via e-mail for refunds there have not been any reported cases in this part of los angeles with 4

from the virus so in an effort to fight the rising numbers across this nation the u.s. national guard has been activated in new york california and washington state but almost half of all the u.s. cases are up in new york alone here in the nation's capital republicans and democrats are still clashing in the senate over the coronavirus rescue bill as nations across the globe struggle with how to cope with this new reality brought by the coronavirus and like in the u.s. the u.k. is also seeing the same type of panic buying at their stores defra the department for environment food and rural affairs over in the u.k. in 28 teen released a food system report barely a page long at least the one they revealed to the public insurer all was well and good but experts say the u.k.'s food supply chain is at risk following breck's it but now further complicated by this novel coronavirus former u.k. m.p.

george galloway joined me a little earlier to discuss this topic here's what he said. well you know we didn't have a smile for our doctors and nurses who knew that we actually run out of food who knew the power of the body which is essentially legalised looting would leave the show. absolutely from our own 7 am. in the morning i've just been into supermarkets from my own family's necessities there's nothing to be found manila people are descending like hordes of locusts on everything taken away much more than they can possibly need a lot of food will be going to waste rotting because it can't possibly be eaten the amount that is been bought in then there's the issue you've just highlighted the actually not just 50 percent nearly of all britons food comes from outside of the
5:20 pm
country but when you talk about fruit and vegetables it's 80 to 90 percent coming from outside the country this green unpleasant never stops ruining. we can't even grow our own fruit and vege that is incredible george 80 to 90 percent i couldn't imagine i would have never guessed with the beautiful english countryside and we've heard president trump rail about america's trade gap with china we all know that we know that it's imbalanced the u.k. has its own food trade gap of about 22300000000 pounds in the wrong direction with 46800000000 imported interview k but only 22500000000 went out so how does this gap impact the economy overall for britain's. well if you took whiskey of. the guy would be very much greater. the 4 things that you put in your

mouth whiskey is by far and away our biggest export is extraordinary here we are on the island surrounded by fish. never stops where our country is green from north to south these 2 west we are unable even to feed ourselves never mind think about selling our products elsewhere beef production many people think the british beef is a mark of 'd excellence but not as many people are buying as our buying scotch whisky saw we need to recalibrate this so many things once if this coronavirus epidemic is over because we are naked. the mare sea of blind forces over which we have no control not what
5:22 pm
breaks it was supposed to be about so i'll be arguing for a very decisive shift to a buying british eating british growing british making british that's what we have to do every country has to be secure in the basics within itself otherwise that at the mercy of things and of 'd people are entirely beyond our control that's right george i covered 1000 has really laid bare the structural weaknesses in food supply chains not only in your country but across the globe so what are your thoughts on great britain's majestic systems and how delivery is unable to meet demand currently. well. for the truckers of course we'd all be dead so the teamsters and their british equivalent need to get organized and make sure. they are properly valued because without trucks we'd be
5:23 pm
nowhere we've got to look at things afresh i think mandela we eat too much we eat too much of the wrong things we don't enough of the right things i've just been giving my own children a lecture on this we had too much process food we don't eat enough of the things that we need and we do much of the things that we don't want one this is over you everything is on the table. and the way we organize our society is on the table absolutely george and lastly we know that boris johnson is obviously busy trying to deal with this virus outbreak but has there been any movement on the next steps for bracks it or post back that i should say. when everything is on the ice so far as that's concerned it's not officially been called off but it seems inconceivable that there's much work going on between britain and brussels right now on what the final picture will look like so it's
5:24 pm
probably not going to be done by the end of this year but frankly not much is going to be done by the end of this year the whole political agenda has been turned upside down all right we will leave it right there as always appreciate all of your insights george galloway thank you my friend. are you know drones can do a lot of cool things but check out this drone a spanish company has developed the drone korea project which allows a drone to drop seeds from the sky to help fight deforestation this drone in particular is dispersing seeds you see right there and can transport up to half a 1000000 feeds her flight that is pretty cool. all right let's head over to regina hamm over the sports h.q. regina my team my home team l.a. rams are. waking up or giving us fans anyway something terrible to wake up to they
