law is from the world headquarters of the r t america in our nation's capital this is the. rick sanchez. catalog and everybody i'm rick sanchez from karate to prague and beyond we welcome our viewers from around the world watching us live or on the portable t.v. happy to have you as part of our global conversation the united states has once again officially changed or pushed back its outlook for the coronavirus situation the new official date for people to remain self isolated and practice social distancing is now april 30th april 30th americans are being told to avoid
5:01 pm
non-essential travel and to not gather in groups of more than 10 until the end of april now that's an update from the latest comment from president trump even different information that while the u.s. government is officially making these recommendations in other parts of the world governments are being more forceful spain for example telling people that they have to quote hibernate or be in quote hibernation by far though by far the largest lockdown anywhere in the world possibly in the history of the world is taking place in india where 1300000000 people are being told to stay home in this video which has gone viral reflects just how seriously indian authorities are enforcing this curfew with police officers seen giving residents a not so gentle nudge with the tongs and sticks and other disciplinary actions when they see people on the streets now there is yet another crisis developing in india regarding a mass and very crowded migration situation as poor day laborers attempt to leave
5:02 pm
the city for the remote villages where most of them live but they don't seem to be able to get their. that's creating even more crowded situations are right let's go to this part of the story the death toll over the weekend it's risen across england and wales and scotland and northern ireland and residents are now being told that the restrictions there could last up to 6 months that's the official notification there are also developments in germany and across europe while on the economic front the presidents of both the united states and russia are having a conversation today about the price of oil which continues to plummet in part because nobody is using oil right now why would they if everybody's being told to stay home there is a lot of information to get to we do want to let you know that our correspondents are going to be joining us from all over the world all over the states to bring those different angles of the story here is a an example to each of us reporting from new york city natasha sweetens in los
5:03 pm
angeles john hubbies in miami with our global coronavirus update desk and alex mahela which as you saw there is going to be joining us to bring us the latest out of india this is the news with rick sanchez on the air and on portable t.v. where it's always time. to do news again. here are the questions we think you might be asking the morrow after watching our newscast tonight what will india do about the 10s of thousands of day workers crowding to somehow find a way to get home how far is the saudi government going to spy on its own citizens overseas especially in america and what will the global sports community do without the 2020 summer a lympics ok all this week we're going to be bringing you special coverage of the
5:04 pm
coronavirus situation with updates from around the world and all that you need to do to protect yourself and your family tracking coronavirus all right let's get started with the breaking news shall we because the situation changes from hour to hour and we're trying our best to try and stay on top of it that's why we've created the global coronavirus update desk manned by none other than john hardy who's joining us now to bring us up to date john what's the latest. well let's start here right here in the united states rick were virginia and maryland are now the latest 2 states to issue mandatory stand home orders for for residents of both states governor ralph north from virginia made the announcement this afternoon short time ago saying the statewide order will remain in place through june 10th but only those having essential work and essential jobs are having to go out for essential supplies groceries gas that kind of thing should leave their homes everyone else he says should self isolate and governor larry hogan
5:05 pm
a maryland also issuing a mandatory shelter in place order earlier today while florida governor ronda santas faced with escalating cases of coronavirus here issued a stay at home order for residents of south florida we're talking about miami dade county broward county palm beach counties and monroe counties which is the florida key. yes through mid may the bulk of the cases are really here in south florida in the state of florida particularly miami dade county now the census has been reluctant to issue a statewide mandatory stay at home order though some counties are not seeing any coronaviruses virus cases though the concern at this point is that will eventually change and remember this the pastor of a mega church in tampa florida talked about this earlier that an arrest warrant had been issued well guess what he's been arrested after holding services despite a citywide stay at home order he was charged with unlawful assembly in violation of a public health emergency order and shifting now to new york the u.s.
5:06 pm
navy's floating hospital ship the u.s.s. comfort arrived today and docked in new york harbor to help with the massive number of cases there 1000 beds and 12 operating rooms that will be up and running in the next 24 hours according to officials turning toward news quickly on the coronavirus front in spain an indefinite period of mourning has been issued as the death toll there has grown to more than 77300 people and 78000 confirmed coronavirus cases the country is seeing a more extensive lockdown with only essential workers allowed to leave their homes and in italy the death toll from the corona virus has increased 211591 with close to $900.00 new deaths in just the last 24 hours while the total number of cases coronavirus cases in italy is well over at this point $100000.00 those are your latest headlines right back to you good stuff john fascinating that report you told
5:07 pm
us about rubber and pasture and tampa so they actually want to rush to have you say now right. yeah the arrest warrant was issued earlier today and apparently he turned himself in to authorities there and bail was set at $500.00 i don't know if he posted that bail or not but he was arrest. it makes sense i guess the argument from the government is that he's in danger in the lives of people by against the government's orders having them come together and possibly causing an infestation john how to his usual doing great work thank you my friend we go now to india where something quite unfortunate is taking place the prime minister is apologizing to the poor of india officially because of what they're going through right now because the nation is in a lockdown situation in the cities day laborers they have no work they have no food they have no money they're desperately trying to find a way to get home according to the information coming out of there so there's crowding in small places around mass transit for example and that's causing
5:08 pm
potential mass infestations it's really a bit of a mess and that is where we begin with our correspondent alex my halo bitch who is going to be manning our asia desk all this week alex what's the latest bring us up to date on how this manifested itself there in india. well record talking about the world's biggest lock down here 1300000000 people live in india and the people that are being affected by this more than anyone are the poor just as you mentioned migrant workers the cities are full of migrant workers who are trying to get home to their villages and with that they're having trouble finding transportation many are walking and many are saying you know what better to get home and catch the virus than starve in the streets of let's say delhi or mumbai so this is a major issue they don't have jobs which means they don't have money the government has commissioned some buses to take people back to their hometowns but this is even more crowding at bus stations which is causing obviously more problem the more people you have in one spot the more likely you're going to how that virus spread
5:09 pm
more quickly so what's going on here when you when you look at the ground in india right now it's very troubling especially since you think about why india is made up more people really live in rural areas than in an urban areas so this is an easy way for the virus to spread into the whole entire country another issue with the poor is people that live in slums so one out of 6 people in cities in india live in slums that 78000000 people one 3rd of those people do not have a toilet 2 thirds don't have a toilet with running water and most of them have to leave their space which is in a slum to get any kind of water so these people it's very difficult to the for them to stay in a lot down position they will be moving around we already know that there is one confirmed case in a slum and in a situation like that this virus can spread very quickly mention country of 1300000000 people right now from what we just talked about earlier today to now the
5:10 pm
number has jumped to ready to out of confirmed cases to 1250 in india 32 deaths that's up by a few from earlier today in india and what we're looking at a situation right now a full lockdown so only essential services are working there is no flight and no flights whatsoever in india at this point. transportation is shut down and the hospitals are bracing themselves for a situation that could be disastrous all those people are. trying to get. out to be difficult for all of those. of us following this story for us thank you alex this is the. you're watching.

the atlantic alliance the bedrock of the post world war 2 global security order is slowly but surely unraveling more and more often washington in brussels by virtue of important foreign policy issues today europe has a choice to defend its interests or fade into oblivion. i can't show you my face but i'm going to teach you must store in 9093 this man was sentenced to death. they could charged with capital murder even though he didn't have the gun didn't pull the trigger didn't intend to kill anybody imagine living in your bathroom for the week with the son of

a $23.00. i doubt that had to be. confined within 4 grey walls the phone it's using. turned on to help him to leave this room . micrographs friends aren't sleights and dad sed you know why. for example there's there's lights against women or nonwhites so it's always you know the idea is that statements that directed toward a privileged group are interpreted differently than a statement directed toward an oppressed group and so that's kind of the whole framework and it's a it's a political framework that's used the result is of course focusing at least on certain kinds of minor slights and say well rather than a northern core then we need to call attention to them but it's not all slight so it's a very political in its contents. welcome
5:13 pm
back i'm rick sanchez there is a report out tonight that the saudi government i.e. the saudi royal family is spying on saudi nationals people from saudi arabia who travel to places like for example the united states. here now with more on this is our team correspondent matushka sweet with the details. the saudi kingdom spying on their own people in the u.s. why would they do it according to andrew miller a former member of brock obama's national security council says the saudis are worried about what saudi nationals will do when they're in western countries and
5:14 pm
says i think they are surveilling not only those they know are dissidents but those they fear may deviate from the saudi leadership according to whistleblower documents a saudi mobile phones were tracked in the us as often as $2.00 to $13.00 times per hour the documents show the 3 main telecom carriers saudi telecom mobley and zain used $2300000.00 tracking requests per month over a 4 month period of ember 1st of 2019 through march 1st of this year the data was routed through the s s 7 global messaging system the way it works is if someone in the u.s. is traveling overseas and wants to make a call back to the u.s. this is the very network they're carrier would use but some security experts are concerned over the system's ability to track phones when 18 t. verizon or t. mobile receives a p.s.i.i. a provide subscriber information s s 7 message they're basically getting a tracking request when asked 18 and he was the only carrier to respond saying
5:15 pm
quote we have security controls to block location tracking messages from roaming partners ron wyden a democratic senator from oregon on the senate intelligence committee blames the federal communications commissions for what he calls failing to act when warning them of malicious attackers who were exploiting s s 7 vulnerabilities he says because of inaction if this report is true and authoritarian government may be reaching into american wireless networks to track people inside our country and this isn't the 1st time the saudi government has been criticized for so-called hacking in january a media report village. bezos says phone was hacked in 2018 after receiving a whatsapp message apparently sent from the kingdom's crown prince mohammed bin some on one of the sunday telecom carriers have responded to a request for comments reporting in los angeles and has suites or t.v. . veteran journalist ben swan has long covered breaches of all types including ones
5:16 pm
that clued government about these and he joins us now with more on this developing story i almost want to say ben should we even be surprised. no we absolutely should not be surprised and in fact not only should we not be not surprised because it's the saudis that's a whole other issue we should be surprised because it was a blowers 'd have been warning the f.c.c. about this and wireless carriers about this for years say that this is a vulnerability that is exploited by more than just the saudi government by the way it's been has been exploited by many different governments around the world the f.c.c. knows that the f.c.c. chairman a shit pie has been notified about it and has said in the past that he doesn't feel a need to fix this problem so the f.c.c. is aware of it there's no one wants to fix what exactly can you help us understand maybe from the ground level what they're doing and how they're doing it yeah it's actually pretty simple so when you go overseas so rick sanchez goes to germany when
5:17 pm
you're overseas and you try to call back to the united states you need to essentially put your cell phone service through a specific kind of service an s s 7 is what it's called which allows that message to then be relayed to a wireless carrier somewhere in the united states it's how you can call back to the u.s. to an 800 phone to a verizon loan or a t. mobile phone and so what happens is each time that happens you are essentially logging a location and the reason for that is because then your charge roaming fees at the end of that time that's how wireless carriers know where you are therefore what they're charging you if you're overseas well essentially you can take that same system and you can use it for tracking it when it's supposed to be used to say well someone from saudi arabia who's using their phone is in the united states and now they're here in the u.s. every time they said that the wireless carriers in saudi arabia can now charge them roaming but the government can take that same information and say show me exactly where they're located and where they are at all times and they use it as
5:18 pm
a tracking device but it's designed to essentially set you up to pay roaming charges now it's standing saudi arabia there are your own unique brand of paranoia should we. should we as citizens or as mobile phone users just presume every time we're on our phones and somebody could be listening to. yeah we absolutely should expect that at this point and again you remember that what the saudis are doing with this particular system is they're not so much listening to phone calls as they are tracking the location of the users and what they're doing now you can use other technologies to pinpoint more of what's being said in those specific conversations and what's happening but essentially here it's tracking method and the reality is that all governments are using in fact the more you look into this story rick you'll find that the primary group that uses this cell phone companies for roaming and governments around the world to track citizens or foreign
5:19 pm
nationals it is used mostly by governments if it's not being used for roaming charges great stuff pencil on your smart comment appreciate you bringing us up to date on this ok thanks you've got it larry king is well he's the host of politicking he is also a mainstay in our national conversation no one would refute that and he joins us now live from his home to talk about everything going on in the world all the eventuality as we like to miss you miss you as i said last week that's nice of you to say lair. hey so president trump came out and said he thought we would be ready to go by the 12th of april this morning they change that pushed it back now to april 30th the governor in florida is announcing sometime in may the governor of new york is saying maybe another 3 months boy it just doesn't seem like a lot of this information is coming out in such a way so that we can understand it or at least have any sense of exactness right
5:20 pm
that's frustrating. a great writer william goldman passed away recently said 3 words i think i've said them before to you. so cognizant and so relating to just all the news you just gave nobody knows anything. nobody knows come on they don't trump knows when we're going to open up this that. the governor of new york nobody knows anything i one thing i do want to say rick. mariel cuomo was one of my dearest friends and. i spent many hours with him and joy his company at the governor's mansion i had the performance of his son during this pandemic as been phenomenal i hope you agree yeah he is so on top of things he's getting high marks all the way across the board by the way republicans democrats it's been a while since we've seen
5:21 pm
a politician rise to the occasion the way that he has you and i have covered a lot of hurricanes in florida for example and from time to time we've seen governors do that but he really seems to be doing that why aren't the democrats looking at him as a potential presidential candidate or are they i think they are but how can they pull it off he hasn't run any primary his no delegates what you need andrew cuomo to be nominated is a truly brokered convention a convention where biden doesn't reach the necessary amount and is falls short they're not going to turn back to previous candidates and then is with. someone like andrew cuomo who would forces way in you know they have someone wrote today that in 2001 they called. the mayor of new york america's mayor yeah. they should now call cuomo america's governor it's
5:22 pm
funny he has. and in fact he's so effective that he makes trump look less effective. it's funny that you're comparing rudy giuliani now is leadership great great editorial today in the new york times yeah comparing franklin delano roosevelt to john of the donald trump you should read it rick today's new york times well i'm glad you said that about f.d.r. because. it seems like this stimulus package is giving people $1200.00 a month when you do the math larry that's about a minimum wage salary and yet they're giving banks and a lot of big industries billions of dollars f.d.r. would have created a program to help people and let that trickle up this administration and everybody else involved in it democrats and republicans alike are putting the money from the top and hoping hoping it trickles down what do you think of that. you know what f.d.r. did he put people to work right and the government paid them and they built memorial
5:23 pm
stadium in baltimore and they build highways so that they felt a sense of satisfaction during the great depression at the same time government gave them a reason to pay them build things people are more people like money but that they like better the making of money they like going out and doing something so getting this check which i understand donald trump is now going to sign yeah yeah i did agree both sides of finally agreed on the terms although most people are still arguing it may not be enough for the average worker. but the treasury secretary is not going to sign the checks oh donald trump is going to sign the checks i wasn't aware of that. he was also running today that donald trump will sign the checks i think. that's almost funny i'll leave you with the proverb since we're into sayings today in keeping with what you just said. give a man a fish he eats for a day teach a man a fish he eats for
5:24 pm
a lifetime and that was the method i think that you're talking about right. you're so right rick once again you hit the nail on the head. larry king my favorite thank you my friend look forward to talking to you again. thanks very much still in the sports shall we and boy the world of sports is d.m. but there is some news in terms of some things that may happen in the future well i guess right now the way we're living our lives steve christakis yes everything is about the future it really is you know it's unpredictable with this virus as the timeline goes with the virus they say so it's really a project of all sports leagues can do now is speculating but there is something for certain today it was announced the official dates for now the olympics they won't be of course this summer but they will be in 2021 as we knew we were that last week but now it's going to be almost a year to the day july 23rd 2021 to august 8th so the olympics will be in tokyo everybody is qualified will still be out of able to participate but this also gives
5:25 pm
athletes who haven't qualified yet because a lot of those qualifying events were delayed more time to compete to qualify so there is a lot of good reasons for this the one downside to it is they've already spent $12600000000.00 in tokyo on these it's going to cost billions more now to reschedule. and when exactly are they going to do this again what july 23rd 2021 of 21 yes summer games i'm just trying to think are they sure that we're going to be completely out of it by then i would imagine that and i don't mean in terms of the big part but i mean there's still some residual effects from the virus because. if you don't actually have something to create immunity you know i'm wondering if we might still have this conversation again that's true that's a very big question will there be a vaccine by then they're saying 1218 months so they're hoping that athletes will be able to be vaccinated by 2021 that's why i put on the right with the vaccine exactly at the time and so it's still a coin flip oh yeah we should be looking at another postponement or cancelation unfortunately but for now it's on let me ask you about something i've seen going up
5:26 pm
there's this trend remember last week you and i talked about what do you do on board i love watching old baseball games old football games old stuff apparently there's this new trend where people are watching virtual sports right it's a huge deal now you have people are tuning in to watch their favorite athletes though play the virtual sport of their choosing the one they participate in most likely so soccer players are playing themselves and soccer moto g.p. races are playing themselves race where they have the 1st moto g.p. virtual race last night actually sunday night alex mark has ended up winning mark marquez participate and there is some big athletic stop. who are these people they're not real oh no these people are real but they're playing a virtual simulation of themself racing around the track so for example maybe i'm just too old the players are real so the real competitors are like. well yeah it's a virtual simulator of themselves but the actual athlete let's say mark marquez or alex is playing there's a delay yeah ok so he's playing the video game exactly and the person he's playing
5:27 pm
is a representation of himself yes as you say and right here and people who are paying to watch this yet they will know this is free to search and cry being but yes let's say facebook can be the platform that you can just subscriber stream it or youtube or any of those platforms it's kind of crazy it's a little crazy i did you ever think we'd live in a world where people wouldn't actually compete they'd watch icons or whatever you call these things competing right exactly we're doing what we have to do to get through this sports rut i guess until who knows when but you know the caps play the rangers virtually the n.h.l. is doing this with n.h.l. . so we're going to they're playing themselves now caps ended up being the rangers here but exactly what people who are real people get as close as we can get i just wanted to make sure we were on the record. thanks to a great conversation as usual that's our news on rick sanchez stay safe stay connected with us. america portable t.v. whatever you can do we'll be here for you as we will be again in just

i'm holland cook in washington this is the big picture on our t.v. america. you've heard the accusations often from the political right that social media and internet search skew left whether this is about algorithms or ideology is itself an argument but is cyber suppression a matter of life and death let's ask maryam and i and an investigative journalist and founder of honey colony whose mission is to scrutinise hype and claims about natural health products and remedies and the power used to be.
