greetings and sell you tell you shouldn't use it appears my friends that the dream of the united states we all grew up learning about is now nothing more than the burning final embers of the once powerful fire i say that because according to reuters the guardian and many other news agencies the united states of america and its representatives have been running a no prisoners winner take all style approach to global medical supplies since finally taking the covert 19 pandemic seriously a few weeks back reuters reports that from europe to south america u.s. allies are complaining about the superpowers with wild west tactics in outbidding or blocking shipments to buyers who have already signed deals for vital medical supplies how bad have we been well after we apparently hijacked an order of 200003 m. facemask that were being shipped out of china bought and paid for by the german government for the berlin police department state minister of the interior of
11:31 am
berlin andreas said that this was nothing short of modern piracy he went on to say this is not how you deal with transatlantic partners even in times of global crisis wild west methods shouldn't rule. yes that that is the nation we've become my friends we're the harry cooper of this night of the living dead story that is the corona virus pandemic modern pirates only looking out for the safety of our selves or at least the safety of our upper crust or their financial safety at least which is what many are now reporting is at the core of us president trumps recent obsession with pushing the anti malarial drug hydro oxy chloroquine for covert 19 patients yes even in times of crisis washington d.c. is dark money and lobbying crowd are still calling the shots despite whatever health risks that may bring. paper
11:32 am
a drug has the side effects of let's see blurred vision blistering feelings that others can hear your thoughts seeing things that are not there uncontrolled twisting movements and of course my personal big pharma side effect favorite large i have like swelling on the face eyelids lips tongue throat beating sex organs. yes that is the side effects you get when dr donald trump starts telling you to ask your doctor about hydro oxy couric when or however it's called that i have friends means that i'm just there watching dogs. what's going on in a city street you want to. see the prices you always stay i'll see a. great city displays systemic deceptions late show which were so when the jail as.
11:33 am
well as the 'd watching the locks i am tire over and over and i won this across boy oh boy i mean just so you know donald's been out there pushing the hydroxy chloroquine him. great side effects by the way who's that last one i didn't even know about all the thrilling my go yeah no the list of side effects to this and it still isn't tested and proven that yes it actually does the coven but not in an actual real scientific test they're finding out they're testing to see if it does but you know that's just a handful what you're seeing on the screen and the things that actually the side effects that's why they don't use it on everything that's why they save it for malaria patients who might die soon you know it's insane exactly and i think one of the most prominent ones is that it can increase your risk for heart failure or a lot of these patients there are already having breathing issues that you came in and you already had any type of heart condition the likelihood of you making it out because you're on this medication is very low you know and this is all you know
11:34 am
this is all thanks to you know what many outlets are now reporting or at least they're trying to say that this could have a major issue of why suddenly there's drugs coming up so frequently in the press conferences is that there's there is dark money there's lobbyist money behind this . trump might not be profiting personally from a but it's all that lobby money it's all the dark money that we know runs the game here according to investigative journalists over at the lobbying dark money in politics watchdog sludge dot com back on march 26th job creators network a conservative dark money nonprofit launched a petition a series of facebook ads in a blast text message campaign calling on trump to mealy make hydroxy available job creators network was funded by a pharmaceutical research and manufacturers of america a drug industry trade that counts many of the makers of that drug is some of their donors into the money pool of course them everything comes back to lobbyists then lobbyists are best friends with and how you can from the white house from the
11:35 am
pulpit of the entire globe because he is the leader of the free world be able to endorse a medication that has not gone through any clinical trials here for it for this specific thing that is also one that isn't. proven by doctors doctors are not endorsing this dr who gets out who is also on this pandemic task force is urging president trump to stop saying this doctors across the country are urging him to stop saying this we know that this is not been tested has not been proven like you said before to actually eradicate coronavirus for anyone and it is a medication that is taken in conjunction with several other medications for those patients who we know are doing better i want to ask you this do you feel just as offended as me when you see these reports that i also talked about at the top of the show when you see these reports that were out there you know tripling the price of face masks in the marketplace just so we get ours you know people already bought other countries already have bought and there's believe was brazil went through the same thing germany france where they've gone through and we've just basically
11:36 am
offered 3 times the selling price just to get control the shipment a friend who was supposed to go to friends of mass we just open stole in these wild west style tactics this is what president by america 1st and it also made america by any means necessary we're seeing him go and as much weight as he can to be able to showcase that he's actually trying to do something for the american people but he's also not a good partner to nations that we may end up depending on nations that have before been partners of ours as well nations that in the global perspective are people who we will engage in business with these individuals their leaders they're not going to forget this yeah they're not they're not going to get this into me and so that's the big thing we're right now the leading we're the epicenter everyone's looking at the united states saying wow you guys are terrible at handling this virus you are failing miserably eventually we're going to have to start asking for help and if we set and stole massive valuable supplies before and then we're going to come back and say please help us we're not to be partners. throughout this period of
11:37 am
uncertainty and high alert with the coronavirus looming postal workers have been on the front lines they don't have the option of working from home. but if things keep going the way they have been the u.s. postal service could completely shut down in just 2 months just last week representative carolyn maloney and gary condit issued a joint letter to senate majority leader harry reid saying quote the postal service is in need of urgent help as a direct result of the coronavirus crisis they emphasize america's reliance on the postal service providing services and goods like lifesaving medications. this battle to save the post office is a new one with the created soley by the covert $910.00 to make the postal service lost nearly $78000000000.00 since 2007 and can't seem to regain footing the u.s.p.s. called on congress to provide legislative reforms including changes to employ compensation over a year ago the mail agency released
11:38 am
a 5 point strategic plan to help them get back on track they promote innovation and e-commerce as well as digital services the truck white house didn't bite and congress hasn't prioritize the postal agency as the american lifeline that it is the expectation that congress with the what the post agency isn't far fetched after all congress supports an advocate for lower cost prescription drugs many of which are delivered to the homes of seniors directly by their melman right now their campaign for filling out the census in important data set used for funding local infrastructure and let's not forget the steady push for vote by mail and absentee ballots it's an election year. your postal service makes all of this possible but the power brokers in congress much like trump have neglected the post office leading them to announce a net decline of over $3000000000.00 if you thought things couldn't get worse you'd be wrong in fact trump 2019 budget actually targeted calls to workers and it's
11:39 am
hacked their collective bargaining rights in addition to opposing cuts to their retirement and health care benefits and in february knowing full well the potential of the coronavirus threats the president's 2021 budget calls for even deeper cuts to u.s. p.c.'s in favor of private sector higher cost services. because that bad image is the name of the game here in the united states take something that could be running well if properly funded and actually you know with a little oversight in the government take that government government project in the government and turn it into something private so that way people could make money off of it and maybe a run of good or. just as bad it's frustrating because the people who utilize the postal service the most are often the people who are the least when it comes to being able to afford these private services and it's it again it is i like mine for so many people i think about those and areas i think about the elderly population i think about all of the things that we get from the government that we have to fill out like right now we have the census but there's also people who utilize the mail
11:40 am
service when they are standing back there when they are filling out their tax information and things like that these individuals by and large are going to be the same people who are going to pay you know top dollar for some other private industry way of doing things exactly you know and that's the thing people forget the mail is one of the biggest and most important elements of infrastructure that every country not just about every country around the world should always follow them try to keep ahead of the good there can be private you know there can be fed ex there can be other things out there that maybe do a little bit better job a little bit quicker job but at the end of the day you still need the basic service you should not just allow and that's to me when you talk about like how they vote under funded and how they've allowed things to fall apart why they're attacking union exists a powerful union you know you see those attacks over and over again because they do they want to see it crumble and i think that we have to remember that this is been something that has occurred over multiple administrations the postal service has been around in this country for 240. that's
11:41 am
a really long time and yes there are some innovations that they probably should have made awhile ago especially as as the internet e-commerce started really taking off and you know expanding their services and their product model there however our congress knows that there is so many people who depend heavily on the u.s.p.s. specifically again i'm going to fall very heavily on those who who get their medications at this service a lot of our senior citizens a lot of those who have lifesaving medications like diabetes medication cancer drugs and all of these other things that come directly through this option it is rush trading that this is. that's something that more of our congressional leaders haven't taken seriously even though you have p.c.'s u.s.p.s. has basically been begging for over a decade now it's sad to see it said to see it i think it goes back to we were talking earlier it's a lobbying money you know u.s.p.s. as they don't have a big lobby on capitol hill because why their government agency you know the head of the day and you know the thing that also is important too is that this is this is one of those things mail and even snail mail as it's called you know that
11:42 am
communication is a lifeline to people whether like you said they're getting drugs or just simply communicating with each other well if you want to maintain control over the populace you don't allow them to communicate as easily as they should you take that away you allow communication between only those who have not the have nots because of the have nots start talking to each other and then bad things can happen to the power structure with you know as we've seen throughout history but it is it is truly so especially now when you see these postal workers they could be out of a job and they're also testing positive times for the virus that we're trying to fight absolutely and there are enough precautions being taken these are people who again cannot work from home their job by its very nature requires them to be out here and to encounter not only the virus but also to be able to spread it and with traps last budget we saw a lot of their health care get eradicated we also saw their their their pensions get eradicated down to single single dollars and this is just very frustrating because it is a grand storm of all things wrong happening at the same time to an agency that is
11:43 am
the like mind of the american public it truly is and if we ran that agency correctly and we funded it properly over the last 345 administrator probably for at least 3 that administrations have gone through the white house trouble by bush clinton too you'd see that as one of the forefront leaders in communication you could take that model and put him to maybe putting out a government sponsored why fire whatever you want to call them things like but we're not seeing that because they have money and when you look at beckman operate and be able to manage an upcoming election both by mail as. not possible without the postal service so true so true art everybody as we go to break remember that you can also start watching the hawks on demand through the brand new portable t.v. app which is available on smartphones through google play on the apple app store by simply searching portable t.v. or you can stream us to your t.v. by downloading the portable t.v. app on places like apple t.v. or the portable to the horrible t.v.

from boston to miami to louisiana and across the country u.s. immigrations and customs enforcement has come under fire for their continued failure in policies procedures and well you know basic safety practices since the rise of a covert 19 pandemic. in louisiana not one but 2 detainees of recently tested positive for the virus meanwhile in florida the miami herald is now reporting that despite an immigration inmate at the chrome detention center in miami dade testing positive for covert 19 for weeks u.s. immigration and customs enforcement has repeatedly told the herald that no detainees in their custody in florida have tested positive and finally in boston massachusetts immigration courts have remained open despite immigration attorney susan church having
11:48 am
a family member test positive for the virus and her being in court she recently told. news in greater boston that all the federal immigration system cares about is harming and hurting immigrants at any cost including the cost of the health of our judges and our core officers and everybody else who has to go in and out of those courtrooms well joining us now to discuss this lack of care and massive safety failures in the u.s. immigration system and ice is immigration attorney eleanor allen always a pleasure having you on sort thank you for joining us. thank you for having me so alan i got to ask you know how it's probably pretty obvious but i've dated is it leaving these immigration courts open for cases at this point and why haven't we seen it across the board closing down of immigration courts or at least something better a better system put in place for the safety of all involved not just the immigrants detained or otherwise. so i'm going to try to read the stories tonight that you've already done together and sort of thing that the u.s.
11:49 am
post office is one of the largest employer of immigrants 1st generation immigrants minority women and women of color is almost 62 percent and that's the reason that they don't have to protect the same reason that they're not going in and doing i think if they got they don't care about him or immigrants and immigration and but on top of that what it also is that they don't care about the u.s. citizen and who patrol these jobs because they're not yes people who are being detained that are there are lawyers for the guy. our province lawyer as well as anyone who has a job in the government that is pertaining to those the tensions that are people who bring the food in people who work the jail cells people who clean the facilities all those things are great concern but in addition to that one of the things that we have just recently found out today that one of them is the government is doing which is really heinous to the world and now they are defaulting people from the facility and also deporting people with the covert 19 does the other areas of the world which is a drain problem today it was reported they deported 19 haitians and of those 140
11:50 am
haitians one of them as the vase a for the disease into a place if you deport the one who had the disease to an island has already been ravaged by a different issue they're not going to be able to fight the crimes i mean to fight disease which the earlier been able to find but honestly makes me sick to my stomach the world deporting people who we know are sick to other countries further spread around spreading this disease that makes me sick to my stomach when. it is actually it may be a crime i mean there's 'd a lot of crimes that are going on and once again this issue isn't just about the training this is about all people who are behind bars who are not going into a license who are not a danger is deciding what these has done is it has changed the way that we work that we're now working from home is also going to change the way that we detain and sort of think we're going to take guard we know that it costs more to do things when a person than a desperately we definitely don't want to have the die on the u.s.
11:51 am
control because then we have lost the government and a law that i think. wow. according to court 8 percent of u.s. doctors are non-u.s. citizens working here in the united states in fact many of them are immigrants and non-citizens are on the front lines right now fighting coping 100 right here how do you think those numbers play into the recent lawsuit brought on by the american immigration lawyers association calling for an immediate suspension of u.s. citizenship and immigration services benefit deadlines and maintenance of status for non immigrants in the u.s. for the vice president for them or another. would support the numbers under reported one in 4 doctor is an immigrant makes for so therefore it is on call or in the. farm where all the borders are closed we know that this is a reference problem that they would not occur in the before the individuals that are here in the immigrant that are once again more photos are filled with the work
11:52 am
of. who they. are working or if. they work in new. orleans 'd. we need are already always we don't have our people are. totally against the constitution the united states it would seem to sort of whole. cloth. it's truly incredible what you know just seeing how there's this you know spider webs out in the time of calls of how this one issue of immigration is kind of reaching into all different parts of our of our of our culture and our infrastructure here are the mounting cases in places like louisiana and florida and the lack of transparency from ice that seems always follow whenever whenever a new scandal erupts like the one you're talking about earlier today what should we expect moving forward into this pandemic unless there are massive changes to our immigration system is this going to be more of the same does it get worse and worse
11:53 am
and worse the less we do and if we don't change anything soon. i think it's going to follow exactly what the program that i believe on monday are going to be a lot of death right i mean that's the truth and they're going to be a lot of death and there's really not a concern to follow up with that and then there's going to be a map of the back and saying that i didn't know but i think in this in this area we should look at him right across the board because also those there are a lot of large immigrant population a doctor and they may move doc next week there's a large consideration for people who are called essential worker who are the farm workers who are in the field making sure they have the best will that go to the grocery store that then come to our aid there are a lot of immigrants that work at those jobs the grocery stores those restaurants that are open right now that are eating up and making sure that we're able to provide that so we should look under our immigration law with their special consideration for people help in wartime and then grant those people some form of status that means undocumented people are great at the form of that and that means that people who have been waiting for years for a visa are just automatically given that that is because there are things now's the
11:54 am
time to record record represent or understand what immigrants add to our society and stop holding 'd them back in addition to that all those people who are detained whether they be immigrant or u.s. citizen whether they're african-american are not should be released unless they are a danger to society there is no reason to hold people in the facility but guilty because we know what this violent crime or this about barak will do would it get them to low income neighborhood which we see in chicago. d.c. and new york and we know that the health care facilities within these didn't just aren't up to par and we know that they're not testing them every day i mean that's really probably not even testing regular americans and then they're really it's just poor management. it completely and i could not agree with you more and thank you for saying that about the release of people who are a danger to society we need to have them released and we need to be taking taking care of them and not allowing them to die imprison of this virus or anything else thank you again always coming on day and discussing these issues with us alan
11:55 am
always a pleasure sir. you got any. yes these last few weeks have been brutal living under all things covered 19 but even with all the desperation hanging in the air we've had the humanity of still kept our humor in our hearts and laughter in our bellies take this bakery an ear for germany where owner and top baker of boston rob started turning out yes coronavirus cupcakes i said cupcakes because who doesn't want to buy a wrist the cupcake made of mars upin a new get. yeah but a virus kickstart to your liking don't forget to head over to chef hong kong spot and 100 vietnamese where you can get a big fat wait for a corona burger or what about the toilet paper cake courtesy of tipsy space bakery in chicago i mean look there's nothing like a good pandemic to bring out the mail the creativity of our bakers and shops around the world wouldn't you like some of that amazes me that the little specially those

unemployment rate is not protected to reach 30 percent in america higher than the great depression the stock market's up 30 percent from recent lows and the size of the central bank balance sheet has expanded by trillions so the question is which came 1st the expansion of the central bank balance sheet or unemployment what is the cause and what is the effect as we've been saying on the show for 10 years central bank balance sheet expansion causes the unemployment because it causes the deflation that cause of the economic duress that creates the unemployment.
12:00 pm
i am. this is the u.k. where live from central london welcome to our viewers from around the world we're just waiting for the government's daily coronavirus press briefing that'll be coming your way in just a few minutes from now in the meantime our headlines this hour on. the government's top scientific advisor is meet to discuss the impact of the lockdown measures as the acting prime minister dominic admits they are unlikely to be lifted soon. data from countries across europe shows overhaul for the coronavirus fatalities happening in care homes becomes the office for national statistics reveals deaths in britain a higher than government figures suggest i'll be joined by a professor of social work. and.
12:01 pm
she is an investigation into comments made by amy holmes on the conspiracy links to find technology to the virus and i'll be talking tonight in your experts a little later in the meantime we call cross live to the government's daily coronavirus briefing with richard soon at the chancellor. good evening from downing street where i'm joined by steve powers medical director of the n.h.s. and informed medical director at public health england earlier today the government's independent fiscal watchdog the office for budget responsibility the o.b.l. published a report into the impact of coronavirus on the economy and public finances it is important to be clear that the o.b.l. as numbers are not a full cost or a prediction. they simply set out what one possible scenario might look like and it
12:02 pm
may not even be the most likely scenario but it's important that we are honest with people about what might be happening in our economy so before i turn to today's health figures i want to spend a few minutes explaining what the o.b.l. have said and let me thank them for their continued work there are 3 brief points i wanted to make 1st the o.b.o. as figures suggest that the scale of what we are facing will have serious implications for our economy here at home in common with other countries around the world. these are tough times and there will be more to come. as i've said before we can't protect every business and every household but we came into this crisis with a fundamentally sound economy powered by the hard work and ingenuity of the british people and british businesses. so while those economic impacts are significant
12:03 pm
the o.b. are also expect them to be temporary where they bounce back in growth. the 2nd point i want to make is that we're not just going to stand by and let this happen. our planned economic response is protecting millions of jobs businesses self-employed people charities and households our response aims to directly support people and businesses while the restrictions are in place and to make sure that as the restrictions are changed we can as quickly as possible get people back to work get business is moving again and recover our economy the o.b. are today have been clear that the policies we have set out will do that. the o.b. our today have been clear that if we had not taken the actions we have the situation would be much worse in other words our plan is the right
12:04 pm
plan the 3rd point i want to make is this right now the single most important thing we can do for the health of our economy is to protect the health of our people it's not a case of choosing between the economy and public health common sense tells us that doing so would be self-defeating at a time when we are seeing hundreds of people dying every day from this terrible disease the absolute priority must be to focus all of our resources not just of the state but of businesses and all of you at home as well in a collective national effort to beat this virus the government's approach is to follow scientific and medical advice through our step by step action plan aiming to slow the spread of the virus so fewer people need hospital treatment at any one
12:05 pm
time protecting the n.h.s. his ability to cope i said in my budget a month ago that whatever the n.h.s. needs it will get and we have honored that promise yesterday we published an update showing that we've given our public services an extra 14 and a half 1000000000 pounds in recent weeks. we are taking action to increase n.h.s. capacity with more beds more keystone off and more equipment on the front line and the secretary of state for health and social care will be updating on our plans for social care tomorrow. this is why we are instructing people to stay at home so that we can protect our n.h.s. and save lives. i can report that through the government's ongoing monitoring and testing programme as of today 302599 people in
12:06 pm
the u.k. have now been tested for corona virus with 93873 people testing positive 19706 people in the u.k. have been admitted to hospital with the virus down from 20184 people yesterday sadly of those in hospital 12107 people have died an increase of 778 fatalities since yesterday after what's up with the family and friends of all those who have lost their lives. these figures are a powerful reminder to us all of the importance of following the government's guidance. stay at home protect our n.h.s. and save lives thank you and now hundreds are to steve to take you through today's day to read more detail we've just heard from the trial to go soon giving the
12:07 pm
government's daily coronavirus press conference and shout it was daschle joins me now for more on this so should it even though the chance to said we will bounce back from this economically is not actually great for the economy overall is it no absolutely not bare in fact pretty soon at the chance of stepping in for the prime minister again today really how much time that we are looking at quite a difficult economic situation ahead of us in here already pay particular attention to the figures that came from the office for budget responsibility earlier today and ready for at least quite some worrying statistics so just to stress really soon i did say it was a forecast and not it was not a forecast it was not a prediction but simply based on a 3 month lockdown scenario so he said that unemployment will rise by $2000000.00 the office for budget responsibility also said that in the 2nd financial quarter of the year april to june g.d.p. will fall by 35 percent and the total the economy will shrink by is 13 percent by
12:08 pm
the end of 2020 now as i say though really said that covert 9000 will have serious implications on the economy but did stress it will bounce back eventually these are only temporary difficult scenarios for the economy and senate and stressed that the government is really trying to keep the safety nets in place so that the economy can bounce back the aim for the government is to get people back into work as quickly as possible but stressed yet again but all of the government's policy is led by the the experts in the science and medical fields but now also those the heads of the economy as well and while this announcement might be welcomed by the public what is really concerning. the public at the moment is that these lockdown measures how long will they be in place for that is something that the car of the country really want to know of course the government has long stressed about the no change to policy until we are past the peak of this virus and it doesn't really
12:09 pm
vote to well if we look at another set of figures have been released today by the office for national statistics that have found that there are more deaths from kovac 1000 in the government is reporting because the government only records hospital deaths whereas the announced today are including deaths in care homes in the community as you can see on your screen a further 2100 deaths are linked to the deadly virus also found on april the 3rd over 6000 people had died by that date the department of health and social care recorded just over 4000 deaths now guess these figures are higher and it's quite alarming but it's actually it's simply just a different way of looking and recording these deaths not to mention of course hospital deaths a slightly more confirmed because these are the confirmed cases of 19 whereas the other deaths may not necessarily be categorically definitive may be linked to that 19 so a day with much data coming out from various different departments but still painting
12:10 pm
a very bleak picture indeed showed thank you very much indeed for detail they know a whole of all of growing of our steps all in cahoots according to data collected by a team based at the london school of economics this is the chief medical officer for england professor chris when he says that 13.5 percent of homes registered to break the days are based on figures from european countries could mean the government is underestimating deaths as it only records for tendencies in the hospitals. well the research focused on a number of european countries including our own and where as of saturday 54 percent of all virus deaths happened in care homes in italy the figure is just over 50 percent 53 percent as you can see there it's nearly 45 percent in france and if we go to belgium it is 42 percent of the time of these and the highest number 57 percent has occurred in spain. well for more on this i'm now

joined by professor of social work at the university of dharm roger smith roger thank you so much for joining us today this is exactly what people worried about deaths in care homes another nightmare seems to be unfolding before our very eyes and did you see it coming. i don't know any police or not much of what's going on coming out to be honest i think we've got to be a bit careful about interpreting figures too early are not disagreeing with what's coming from the other say they're very worrying figures they suggest there may be significant undercounting in this country at least and if you look across to france for instance that their figures including care home they're so much higher than ours but that might be one of the reasons for it so why is it do you think that we're not seeing these care home figures in the overall figures that we're seeing concerning deaths in hospitals and in some ways it's obviously the government is deliberately underestimating this but why have these figures in effect being lost to us. well they haven't so much been lost as has not picked up and that's partly

because if you go about the origins of you know the policies around testing and contra contact crossing and so on we won't testing as widely as as in in some other countries we weren't choosing to. test people who might be particularly vulnerable such as those in care homes and so. if you go if you go out of the testing strategy people will be picking up those numbers it will be picking them up at the same time as your correspondent mentioned as those people in hospital because the tests there are carried out more or less since instantaneously whereas there's there's almost bound to be a time lag with care homes but as these figures are gradually coming through and we've seen some quite alarming figures in today's drying of the 2 largest or 2 of the largest carol providers talking about hundreds of deaths in their homes and it may well be that we've got quite a extremely worrying picture emerging why is this picture emerging why are we

seeing the telus in care homes is it very difficult then for residents to to be hospitalized and to be tested and to be treated the virus and taken out of the home . well often people don't care i mean we talk about care homes but they often have health complications as well the people people residing in care homes so they are particularly vulnerable and again when all the dust to settle from all of this we're going to have to ask ourselves serious questions about strategy strategy in place now and previously to protect people in their homes and starting in care homes because. you know clearly the issues to do with how the disease is transmitted allergies and to and talking of that protection some of the social distancing guidelines must be very very hard to follow when you're in a care home well not exactly so you need other strategies to do with as we've heard about personal protective equipment about testing about tracing the look and contact with people in care homes all those sorts of things which which kind of

build a protective barrier around the home and all needs to be in place and needs to be in place obviously sufficiently early it's not neutral that is it disease gets into into the home and becomes much more easily transmitted amongst residents so. it's a it's a whole package really and the question now will start to be addressed and we've got consider as these figures begin to stack up is is is what was in place when it should have been in place how effective was it. for all troll sorts of reasons we need to understand what's happened and we need to learn from it because there may be a next time i mean i know it's it's awful to talk about this but you know not only are we going to get through this this this incidence of the virus but they don't know maybe next time so we've got to learn all the lessons we can just very briefly the government has announced financial support to local authorities is that giving some sort of comfort somehow. well there's there's always comfort in additional funding going. home health care settings but again the backdrop and the backdrop we

all know is is one in which you've been substantial cuts since it will number of years and now show me some of the some of the policy decisions and some of the. questions we need to ask about our homes were before the fall before all is struck professor roger smith really good to talk to you today thank you for spending time with us here thank you for. health bosses one that some n.h.s. staff are facing extreme shortages of personal protective equipment following delays in receiving supplies from china chief executive of n.h.s. providers in england chris hops and says that staff a struggling to get protective gowns meanwhile has been reported that britain refused to join an e.u. scheme that bulk bought p.p.a. around 1300000000 pounds worth of equipment is due to make its way to hospitals across europe but dr mark porter told me earlier that the number of deaths will be a lot higher than reported. b.p. short it's been a problem on the front line i work in general practice with about 11000 patients
12:16 pm
we've actually got enough now we have to fight through it a bit but we've been lending it out to our community nurses at one stage they were down to just 10 masts and certainly we're hearing in our area that the pressure points into points appear to be in hospitals and in cairns obviously hospital staff get through much more protective gear than we do it's much more important that they have it because they're exposed to much more risky activities things like ventilation and integration and although there's supposed to be enough across the country whether it's getting to where it's needed when it's needed it's another issue the reporting of cases is more about statistics and gathering information rather than some may say they could be even indeed a deliberate case of underreporting these deaths or that but it is simply the way the system is set up do you think i think we need to be careful on the i mean that the reason why we just use hospital dates is because they're the only confirmed cases they're also available with a 24 hour turnaround but they are the tip of an iceberg everybody in the field
12:17 pm
knows that the real figure is much much much higher. what we're seeing is you know confirmed cases in hospitals within 24 hours they get reported very quickly so that updating it be 24 hours of the total deaths gives us an idea of what's happening nationally but but trust me the number of cases and the number of deaths is going to be much higher and that's the same across the world. new u.k. figures reveal an additional 778 coronavirus patients have died over 93000 patients and not just a positive for covert 19 across the country of those more than 12000 have lost their lives meanwhile the number of confirmed cases across the world approaches 2000000 according to johns hopkins university there have been over 121000 deaths for the more almost half a 1000000 have recovered from the disease. still to come this. broadcast you will

depths. for a mate in the shallowness. media regulator ofcom is to investigate remarks made by i.t.v. present to a man holmes on yesterday's edition of this morning after the program received over 400 complaints holmes questioned the media's quick dismissal of a conspiracy theory linking 5 g. technology to the corona virus but what i don't accept is mainstream media immediately slapping that diet is not true when they don't know it's not true holmes is in said his comments were misinterpreted but reiterated that the public is concerned and right to look for answers it comes amid over 30 reported attacks and 5 g. towers across the u.k. since the outbreak began the theory states that radio waves emitted by 5 g.

to suppress the immune system making people more vulnerable to illness over the claims of other been debunked or lack scientific research to back them up but not joined by experts in business i t jamal ahmed jamal hello to you. good afternoon bill how you or i think you very much now these conspiracy theories about new technologies that were important or aren't they but why has this one in particular gained more traction. i think this one skein in particular more traction because it coincides at the same time as coronavirus naresh use an expo cabal using common sense in our approach to fighting this coronavirus in his press conference today and when we look at the mix of 5 g. contributing to coronavirus we can dispel and the bank any of those missed so the 1st thing we know for a fact is in 2085 g. was 1st rolled out to south korea and the u.s. now we need to find out about coronaviruses at the backend of $2900.00 so if 5 g.
12:22 pm
had anything to do with corona virus we would have known about it in as early as 2018 now secondly 5 g. is prevalent in communities where there is a higher concentration so it makes sense to 5 g. moss would 1st be put up where people are more populated such as cities and because the 5 g. towers are there people are making the false assertion that 5 g. towers equals coronavirus if there is a population that's more densely populated such as in cities it's more likely there's going to be a greater cases of coronavirus in those cities because of the density of the population and it also makes sense for telephone networks to put up to 5 g. must now more importantly what we need to understand is 5 g.'s work on radio waves and they have no impact on any virus developments we know from scientific fact that this virus spreads through water droplets that come through our saliva and that absorbs into i mean just membrane 5 g. plays no impact on that whatsoever the electric magnetic waves have no

correspondence or have anything to do with the droplets that travel of an infected person that has corona virus and also if you look at countries like iran and japan who don't even have a new 5 g. we see there are high numbers of people. to have already been infected with 5 with the corona virus in those places you've done a brilliant job bunking the myth all together but of course part of the appeal linking this theory to the viruses that will happen in china where the did the virus start it was a trial center for 5 days you can potentially see why people are a jumping on this. yeah i mean we can see where people are jumping on this and people like to put 2 and 2 together and sometimes they come up with something that's greater than 4 now if we look at we hand that is not the only place where the only site in china where 5 g. was tested and in fact what we have is people sharing videos of fake news of people taking down a lamp post in apparent new warriors who hand because that's contributing the

coronavirus actually that video of the people taking down that lamp post with a smart meter is from the 100 concret tests a long time earlier so people are taking video and people are taking information and falsify it to spread fake news and the most important thing is that there is no scientific evidence whatsoever that 5 g. has contributed all causes any kind of harm to wards people or spreads any kind of viral infections now the international commission on non ionizing radiation protection as later 13th of march 2020 they said the protections that they had put in place in the restriction they had put in place almost 22 years ago in 1980 they reviewed those and they said they still appropriate for 5 g. and the use of fire and people are not exposed to any kind of radiation that is likely to be harmful for the general good of you to join us thank you very much indeed for that jamal that. well the off com investigation into

a man holmes comments comes as a report finds that trust in media outlets has dropped considerably over the course of the global health crisis however after 4 years of political division over break says the pandemic has brought us closer together for now at least the survey found that 21 percent of britons across the political divide say they have lost confidence in their media sources over trust in political institutions as increased with 40 percent saying they have more faith in the government than before the pandemic. the 5 g. conspiracy isn't the only this information circulating about the pandemic already has martin andrews has the lowdown on some more myths and urban legends. are you suffering from information overload let's debunk some myths and get the lowdown we're here to separate the facts from the fiction.

the virus is on our cash now we all use money and we don't know who's handled it before us the world health organization has advised the public to stop using all physical cash in favor of contactless payments if possible as covert 19 might be able to survive on the surface of banknotes talk to christine tabor card an expert in infection and immunity says that koreans are even worse for helping viruses survive so if you do have to use coy it's a bank it's please watch your house regularly special drinks will save me there are dozens of crazy theories flying around the internet from gargling with bleach to drinking how your in yes you have done correctly so consuming drink it will silver or the so-called miracle mineral supplement to chlorine dioxide also known as industrial bleach public health england says there are no approved vaccines drugs or investigational products currently available to treat or prevent the virus it's

as simple as that plus drinking bleach will make you very ill and how your and. that's not very bad. dentists can spread the virus. every 19 can settle on all surfaces and that includes toothbrushes just like you are about phone so it might be a good idea to wash them thoroughly before use or even safer perhaps it's time to buy a new one but what about going to the dentist dental authorities say routine treatment is not available at the moment but emergency care is still possible but is it a risk for both the patient and the dentist. the measures that have been said by storage were in order protected on. and you know all the protective measures there are needed there shouldn't be any risk now that's why emergencies have been been allowed because a we know that their leader. their mosque and so they're out there you can prevent

there's a 2nd wave this winter nobody wants this to return later in the year but cope with 19 is a completely new virus so it's really hard to know what will happen or returns is certainly possible while social distancing and lockdowns will help slow the spread of corona virus if society returns to normal too soon the outbreak could sadly escalate again so in short stay home until government advice changes that slow down for today be safe because and wash your hands. more news in a half an hour. the be . above.
