7:00 pm
i want to. thank. my. fellow there i'm a military man your watching in question broadcasting from r.t. america's national news headquarters in washington d.c. we want to welcome our viewers from across the nation and all around the world our top story tonight of course america in chaos. and waves of protest are raging nationwide following the death of george floyd a black man who said he couldn't breathe after he was held down by a police officer with his knee on his neck as boyd begged for his life since then
7:01 pm
peaceful protests have turned into riots right here in the nation's capital a large group of protesters have gathered right outside of the white house now these protesters aren't alone national guard troops are starting to arrive on the streets of washington d.c. and just moments ago president trump spoke to the nation from the rose garden saying he will deploy national guard troops to states dealing with massive protests he also said he will do what he can to protect washington d.c. with the latest on the ground just outside of the white house his art he is very project. but only put out here all afternoon and i got to tell you one thing before there was hundreds around the south who knew now there are at least thousands here in front of the white house i want to talk about the people that are here in front of me right now we have a lot of young old black white brown all together standing in unity saying that they want a peaceful protests now the curfew ended just a couple minutes ago but a lot of them plan saying out here well past that curfew that ariel browser put in
7:02 pm
place now trump is calling on state and local leaders to crack down on these and get tougher on protesters actually unloading on governors earlier today calling the week i asked her do you see that curfew was put in place tonight at 7 pm just moments ago and. last until 6 am and then extending into tuesday 7 pm to 6 am now last night the curfew was at 11 pm just an hour before last night's curfew multiple fires in the area were started including at the st the historic st john's church right in the downtown where many us presidents have attended over the years we also had other vandalism like what you see here in d.c. is national mall we're right outside the lincoln memorial it was written graffiti on not tired yet and the world war 2 memorial written to black vets count now. has called in the entire d.c. national guard which is made up of about 700 soldiers to help control these protests metro police arrested 18 people ranging from 18 to 34 years old in there also putting pictures out on social media with as of people caught on security
7:03 pm
footage asking for the public's help in identifying them now today president met with attorney general bill barr who actually took a step outside on the grounds here between all of the natural police the park police and the d.c. national guard to take a look at what was going on with the protesters he's also the one that's fast track in the investigation into george floyd but trump had a closed door video conference with just a few hours ago with those state governors along with law enforcement and national security officials where there are reports from the inside of president trying time that they need to step it up one quote actually coming from that room saying from trump movement if you don't put it down it will get worse and worse any time it successful is when you're weak and most of you are weak and have trouble at all to pointing out the minneapolis police apartments patients being burned the city where protests all began now trump has been very vocal on where he stands on this issue mainly saying that those that are riding in looting and causing violence are members of the follower yesterday he doesn't need anti fire as
7:04 pm
a terrorist organization tweeting this i don't see any indication that there were any votes or promises groups mixing in this is an anti for organization that i've been here with protesters all afternoon i was say they have been wanting to. remained very peaceful there was a couple skirmishes between a couple protesters going over that barrack me and some police actually spraying them down telling them they had to say behind that barricade now taking a look behind me i want you to see there is those these different lines that we can see through these protesters where you're going to how you're trying to d.c. police but now it looks like the national guard and the military police are actually on that front line now again curfew just only a couple minutes ago it's extending all the way into 6 again but again you know these protesters say that they plan on staying out well past that curfew reporting in front of the white house ferrin fronsac r.t. . right meanwhile george boyd brother terence floyd spoke to a crowd of protesters as well listen. all knocked over a wall and. of all knocked over
7:05 pm
a. wall went up off. the farm out on were that's not marker no order oh. we're holding our own. well our goal would go but we're not a firm. because. all right a statement comes as many apple dozens of people arrested after nights of on the arrest many businesses vandalized and now the national guard moving in to force a curfew there's actually banks reporting from minneapolis. i am here in the exact spot where george floyd was killed by many awful police officer derek exactly a week ago today. we all saw the video and we all know that he knew exactly what he was doing we all know that this was a conscious decision. 9 minutes of video watching him standing around with a guy. i mean. i don't see
7:06 pm
a way out other than charging. 70 people here that are a living flowers they're leaving stuffed animals and messages for full weight for those who knew him they say that he was a man who was against violence he actually spoke out against it and tried to invoke . the same cycle over and over and over no matter how you did it was just this is devastating period i was here a last night around 11 pm 3 hours. and i want to say there were about 2 to 300 protesters that were peacefully protesting and completely unified however the best way to describe the atmosphere i thought it would. look at this history this is seen in the books not just the whole world is incident like this is.
7:07 pm
more protests are scheduled for the rest of the day as protesters say they won't stop until justice is served now what exactly does that look like protesters say they won't stop until the remaining result of their own crimes and convicted and they're hoping that all. research shows in a 3rd degree murder charges change to the 1st degree i'm actually banks reporting in minneapolis. all right as protests royal american cities paying neighbors against one another racial tensions rise to the surface over the death of george floyd in minneapolis but will there be one unified voice to come from this latest round of rioting or well this further the divide here to discuss our panel tonight do you want kinsey is a college professor and editor at large for salon dot com and of course former congressman and lieutenant colonel in the u.s. army allen west gentlemen thank you for being with us today so i'll start with you ahead of of george floyd's death you wrote
7:08 pm
a piece for huff po about dirty cops in your hometown of baltimore and your brush with one of them as a young teen reflect on your personal experience for us in light now of mr ford's death. so what i want to do what they say is just to show people like i want to take it a step beyond 30 cars because we are know that they have 30 cars but i wanted to highlight what went through and how you can be on either side of the wanted drugs but at the same front of you still if you're victim if you're selling them using drugs which also a victim is given a set of locking up people a lot of times we should be locked up or as of people who shouldn't be harassed and using the bench as a tool to every just sells off of money that's made on the street and i really wanted to cover that and i didn't just do it i use my personal story but i use terms and terms in terms of court documents and testimonies from victims and
7:09 pm
witnesses who participated in the incarceration of this police officer because you know we are noted as dirty cops but we've got to take a step for of this on the other people outside of communities like mark you understand and congressman west you are. are known for being an outspoken conservative and a proponent of the 2nd amendment how do you feel that the mainstream media's coverage of the the reopen protests that we saw last month we saw armed people descend on state capital buildings like those in michigan with how they're covering the protests we're seeing today. well it's very simple i've been to some of these rallies with the matter of fact i was in a rally in our sin taxes just 2 saturdays ago there was no destruction of property there was no burning down there was no looting or anything i think the problem that is happening right now is that we're losing focus piece about it firsthand this new saw and not anyone remember george floyd because i don't think that the people that
7:10 pm
are out there doing all of this damage think about if you're a small business owner and you just got your business opened back up because of the covert 19 issue and now you know show more come along and destroy your businesses you had nothing to do is that that's exactly what has happened here in dallas texas as a matter of fact and saw some of the social media communications from these groups that are out here at the for related this and say they're pushing this out of dallas texas let's move further up and gone let's go in the water and let's go in that sense these are small suburban communities so this has nothing to do with getting justice for george what this is an opportunity is these very violent gangs who should rightly be called domestic terrorist groups to what they're doing who are not and perpetrating again in the some people. and a now barring the minority of those people looting and displaying criminal behavior how do you take this momentum as president obama spoke about today and
7:11 pm
propel change what does that change look like and how how do you harness this why swath of people and varying ideologies about what moving forward means. you know at the end of the day us. i think that the generation before me. they didn't have a figured out in a generation before them didn't have to figure it out you got so many people who make in a conversation about any and everything but the history of violence and poverty and racism and white supremacy and all the different things cocktail that are fueling these people in the streets right now i know that my job as a person who loves my city and who loves my community is the pull of love and support for the young people who are going to be left here and have to put this that these things back together i think you know there's no big answers because police you know police police are different and every minute the paladin every
7:12 pm
state every city every community they have their own way they police so we as people who love our community have to do what we can in the places where we live on campus on what happened and it is then because i have to put my energy into the things that i that's happening and bottomless city right now but i do think we need to change the conversation i think the conversation is this you know that in a day there'd be no small business if you keep killing people in general because innocent people care to see a park so we have to figure out how to get to the bottom of that ok that sounds like you're saying that the change starts locally at home and then maybe eventually will get there into the bigger conversation but then congressman there's that old adage one rotten apple spoils the bunch we all know that when we've heard it applied to the protesters and these rioters why doesn't the same apply to cops. well i don't applaud the cops i mean you think about the gentleman who shot the
7:13 pm
young man down in south carolina he's in jail this man will go to jail i'll agree that it's to be a 1st degree murder without that and they should be accessories to murder those other 3 police officers but look i cannot explain why any city attorney there and minneapolis did not decide to do that but when you look at all of these major population centers all across the united states of america and just talk about the crime the poverty the despondency i grew up in the inner city of atlanta georgia i was born and blacks always hostile in 1960 or you had one party rule in many of these urban centers and so let's start asking about the failure their policies that have perpetuated this poverty in perpetuate the lack of quality schools and education and things of this nature that we saw that but you're going to have bad doctors that soldiers bad cops there in every profession there is bad individuals but today i'll go out and try to destroy our communities all over the cross united states of america because of this one bad cop and minneapolis minnesota doesn't
7:14 pm
cost that's a rational that's a reasonable and makes no sense whatsoever i don't care what you say this is not the result that you seek to have if you want to truly have justice and we don't need people gone out and saying hands up don't shoot because we know that last fall from there that they came out of service a loser or and gentlemen it is a metaphor for what it was it was a it wasn't a farce narrative that's not true in a small narrow they don't care what party maritime panel now what happened at the end of the day i think there are you know how do you remove people like people like yourself things like one back grab the battle that i wanted i'm going to kind of part of the problem one last time meet me i'll let you say ok i'm going out and i like i don't but never mind. because it's not one bad cop it's a bad system system doesn't work and when a system doesn't work you are you are creating. i think people would try to pacify these things that was 1600 black men unarmed black man shot by police officers
7:15 pm
since 2014 you just named above the roof what did you know about a lot of the 1600 modest big papi 800 we got a 6 audible 6 tell you but let let's let the congressman respond. that's my point they're going to be going to the barber and you know the problem let's hear him out let's hear him out i'm not a. 1000000 who want to. protest about the fact that now we'll have 24 percent of young children almost fall down the whole decimation of black why don't we protest again we don't have them. like you from like well to be very big. if you know you're going to see that letter. 'd and let's let's not let's not go to name calling there me because you know no points to make here i know that i know that you guys have have love for this country coming from 2 different political perspectives here we want to refrain from

destroyed q the national guard now activated in 20 states and washington d.c. curfews enforced and thousands arrested. and what started off as peaceful demonstrations in new york quickly turning destructive in parts of manhattan was the outside of it was demonstrators clashing with police setting fires to police cars throwing bricks rocks and fireworks at officers who responded in full force mobs of people seen rampaging down sidewalks smashing into numerous luxury shops to steal merchandise over 100 stores vandalized by sunday night at least 33 n.y.p.d. officers injured and 47 police vehicles destroyed buildings are crowding god and brown people are god this as an independent investigation is underway over the violent clashes between police and protesters including this moment when an

n.y.p.d. police cruiser drove into a group of protesters there must be immediate investigation and must be the appropriate penalty and that penalty here include all the way up to being removed from the police force at least $250.00 people arrested on sunday alone including chiar de blasio the daughter mare bill de blasio for unlawful assembly saturday night all this in the midst of the krona virus pandemic the virus already ravaging new york city accounting for more than 50 percent of all infections. the state this city which was the epicenter of the outbreak for weeks hasn't even started lifting lockdown restrictions and already new concern the mass protests will spark a 2nd wave of the deadly virus 100 seen here clustering together in large groups and screaming many going against state regulations not wearing these masks. also says using tear gas and pepper spray to disperse crowds causing people to tear up and to cause further increasing respiratory secretions enhancing the possibility of

transmission but despite the risks the message is clear for the able we need to be out here on the streets doing the work of reporting in new york trinity each other as our team. after days of protests and riots across the country many u.s. officials are looking for someone to blame for that violence but the countries that routinely receive harsh criticism from washington for their handling of protest are pointing out some hypocrisy blevins is joining us now to discuss the details of all of this so rachel let's start with the obvious right now china how they responded to these protests happening here what china just recently passed national security legislation for hong kong which specifically targeted foreign influences there months of demonstrations that were cheered on by the u.s. even in cases where the clashes became violent but when it came to mass protest here in the u.s. with many of them violent china responded by issuing a statement in which they expressed concern for the minorities who have been
7:23 pm
targeted by police with. the. social current state of affairs once again the seriousness of the problems of racial discrimination violence law enforcement by u.s. and police and the urgency of the problem. so you know a spokesperson for china's foreign ministry also took to twitter sharing a broadcast from r.t. america where anchor rick sanchez pointed out the contrast between help a tramp and ministration refer to those who take part in riots he. in the u.s. as thugs and those who take part in riots in hong kong as heroes she also referenced a statement from the state department which criticize china for quote breaking its promises to the people of hong kong and to that she simply wrote the phrase i can't breathe. and rachel what about iran america's other arch nemesis how they responded well the u.s. has been known for praising any anti-government demonstrations that it sees in iran but in response to these protests are on foreign minister actually quoted
7:24 pm
a statement that was released by secretary of state my prom pale back in 2018 but the version he posted had a few changes to it now if we take a look at that statement he added it so that instead of claiming the people of iran are tired of the corruption injustice and incompetence from their leaders the statement targeted the u.s. government and cited the american people with the caption some don't think black lives matter to those of us who do it it's long overdue for the entire world to wage war against racism which all that on twitter and what about domestically who is the us blaming them for all of this we've seen more than 4000 arrests tied to the protests which have seen no booting and destruction of businesses and now when it comes to this there have been claims that these acts of violence have been carried out by just far left or far right extremists however when you take a look at the data that we have seen so far it suggests that most of these suspects are local and many seem to be opportunists taking advantage of the chaotic

environment as opposed to being part of an organization with a climate but that hasn't stopped current and former officials from trying to place the blame on other countries now during an interview former national security adviser susan rice said quote based on my experience this is right out of the russian playbook we cannot allow these extremists the foreign actors to distract from the real problems we have in this country then senator marco rubio also claim the u.s. has seen very heavy social media. to be on protest and counter reactions from social media accounts linked to at least 3 foreign adversaries now when asked about those comments current national security advisor robert o'brien confirmed that the us is currently monitoring online activities from china russia iran and even zimbabwe in relation to these protests and it is interesting to hear claims of other countries cheering on purpose here in the united states because we know that whenever it comes to mass demonstrations against the government the u.s.

government is typically the main true leader but when it happens in other countries yes absolutely rachel blevins thank you for digging into that i think you. are regina ham over the sports h.q. of regina we don't see too many high scoring games here in major league baseball here in the u.s. but over at the caveat though just wojo they rack up 25 actually total runs was the magic number in the k.v. over the n.c. dinah's to find a way to end their 2 game losing streak top of the 1st in line of break up in scoring with a solo home run off the bat a 2nd baseman pacman woo all the way to the right field stands sino the lead one to nothing top 2nd downs that's right again this time as catcher came to going all the way to left field warning track ready to run double dynamos lead 310 not thing and n.c. is on a roll they are ensembles of the 4th minute again this time in rb a single right center field felt the season for him so i knows putting samsung in
