10:00 pm
you can't be bold with the yeah you really. haven't told me oh this is america's lawyer the media in the united states being destroyed right now and it isn't coming from republicans democrats are doing just that much to harm the american media and both groups are tearing apart a vital part of the american infrastructure that we're going to talk about the onslaught against the media and why these attacks for everybody in the us also tonight a massive lawsuit against dozens of pharmaceutical companies. working together to drive up the part of the road later in the show airline companies are quietly tweaking their passenger agreement to make it very hard for if not impossible to sue don't go anywhere america's war starts right now.
10:01 pm
a functioning press is vital to any democracy in the present united states is being dismantled by both major political parties by a fair and cousins here to talk about it fair and you are a real journalist i mean there is nobody argue with you are real journalists and you write reports that really matter and in those reports you do the damndest things you ask questions and then maybe you disagree with the narrative out there for the day that's what journalists do there are journalism is dying we have a whole generation and how many there snowflakes i mean get these snowflakes political correctness it's destroying our ability to even ask questions this this matt taibbi story that it was brilliant matt taibbi is a real journalist it's brilliant the guy's one of the best in the business talk about it i want to spend some time talking about what he had to say here with this
10:02 pm
this is been you know a piece that absolutely blew up all over social media you had a lot of people on the left. mostly saying type he's lost his mind he's gone off the deep end he's going conservative now. because he dared write a piece that said listen folks on the left it's ok to ask questions if you're a reporter it's ok to say wait a minute slow down a 2nd we may have something wrong and tell you the names names he calls people out as well he should because that is what a journalist does and i think a lot of times especially on the left we like to think hey we're much better than conservative media but that doesn't mean everything we say or do is right ok let me preface this you and i have been doing progressive left wing media for how many years almost almost 2 decades almost 2 decades every time we do a story where some some numb nut out in numb land on social media
10:03 pm
disagrees with what we have to say all of a sudden all my god we're fascists we've said something that they can't process it's like they have an inability to think so ty e.b. does the story now let me just say this kelo lucy kellaway lucy works for the intercept the leaf who you and i have interviewed so many times he isn't brill he is actually a real investigative reporter actually he's probably the person that had more impact on campaign financing than any journalist in the business changing the way we go about it and talking about it so all of a sudden this a calla a tele lucy she works for the intercept who by the way i'm always talk about what a great organization that is i don't know anymore i literally don't even know what the hell's happening at the intercept so to pick it up what is this what was this horrible thing that leaf on it is leaf falling had the audacity to you know speak
10:04 pm
to a african-american activist who said listen we also need to be talking about crimes against african-americans by african-americans which you know. so you can agree that maybe this isn't relevant to what's happening at the moment in this country but the response from from a killer lacy from entire social media against leaf on was absolutely disproportionate to the fact that the man asked a question while reporting a song that is all he did he asked the question should we think about the idea in our this broad society how we get under control black on black crime i mean was 35 african-americans shot in the streets up in chicago you read about every weekend so here's what he's asking about it he says can't we do better getting this under control well the snowflakes on social media go crazy why because they're unable to
10:05 pm
think for themselves they're terrified of questions they. call it virtual virtue signaling oh i don't you know i think like the celebrities think let me let me be on the side that everybody else is on god forbid i should ask something that's politically incorrect according to social media standards this matt taibbi got it right that me he did and also you know to maybe this isn't probably the best time to be asking that particular question in the media that doesn't mean that leaf on was wrong to ask it but it just means that it maybe it's not related to what we're seeing right now and again i agree with almost everything is said here maybe not 100 percent of everything but one thing i certainly don't agree with is the response that this has triggered from the left on social media i spend a lot of time on twitter just reading people basically learning more about how people react to things and it's
10:06 pm
a fascinating case study in humanity just reading through twitter and they lost their minds not because they disagree with him on everything but because he questioned. what the left had become and that is something we do have to do because again he's the type he's not going after progressives here he makes it clear in the piece of progress i want most to progress it isn't that important progressive journalist in america it's these middle to upper class you know liberals who probably have done horrible things in the past and now they're trying to atone it by being the tone police is a virtue virtue signallers you know this story talks about how a leaf falling for doing that story was brought before the h.r. department at the intercept you know who outed brought out a brought a capella lucy whoever the hell that is keller lucy would been sitting in front of me i said look what is the problem with asking questions what's the problem with the original thought what's the problem of saying i can't always be politically
10:07 pm
correct because i'm a journalist that's the person a tele lucy would been sitting in front of me and that job would have been in question not only follow well you know and the other thing that brings up and here is the tom cotton op ed now that that's obviously heard a lot of anger all over social media you had the editorial chief i believe from new york times have to resign over this and it's because everybody now in the i despise tom daschle had eisenhower's if we don't on time we've done rounds of stories a man about the guy he was in hunted borderline trees a theory and deal but what they perceive him to be saying what social media said he said didn't get said in the op ed exactly because no but nobody will read time to read about actually read the narrative it showed up on twitter crazy world where you know it's ok to be. ok to be certifiably crazy on twitter these days and if
10:08 pm
it's not politically correct oh my god all i am so disgusted and tired of these folks that call themselves journalists that don't have an original thought they're terrified to ask the. gentle question look can you imagine this editor on the tom cotton story going to leadership of the new york times and grovelling like a damn domestic animal saying oh i'm so sorry i'm so sorry that's that's the level of journalism nowadays and it's terrifying it's almost like you know i look at chaz right now what the. saddle it reminds me of lord of the flies now here's what i mean lord of the flies he had these kids they're in charge you know they're they've they've got control of their space look what's happening in chasse ok what's happening there is you have literally warlords telling you can't be here because you don't agree with this you can't be here because you said this it is insane and we don't even appreciate the level of insanity and we know i do have to point out
10:09 pm
too like i disagree with everything cotton does say in the op ed because i took the time to read it yeah but at the same time he had a right to say it new york times has a right to publish it and as tybee points out unfortunately for those of us who disagree with it polls show majority of people do agree with it here's why don't we have it and here's why they owe journalists on the left have become left wing grifters yeah they're so they're so they're so worried about approval they have become left wing grifters who want to sell more ads on their side because it creates it creates interest there grifters there's nothing short of grifters the millionaire in charge of the treasury department has decided to keep the names of the companies getting coronavirus bailout money completely secret ok s.b.a. s.b.a. that's where the money is coming through has always always made that information
10:10 pm
available but not under the little munchkin right stupid you know is going to do what steve does and that is keep everything secret give money to his powerful friends. you know powerful financial interest and then hide it from the public and that is exactly what's happening here and the reason he's doing it now is because we know from the 1st round of stimulus that 245 at least publicly traded companies got their hands on some of that small business loan money and steve says wow i took a lot of heat for that because yeah i shouldn't have but i did so this time i'm just not going to tell you you have no way of knowing until a new administration comes along and releases it where this money goes but this this to me is appalling not just because he's hiding it because we know what's going to happen we know where it's gonna go well ok we know there's frog we know there's hustle we know there's all types of iteration of fraud we know that $4500000.00 companies split up $500000000000.00 and the s.b.a.
10:11 pm
has always said you want that information who got the money we're going to give it to you but the little munchkin comes on says no we can't do it why because he is useless in his job in that department and here's the problem here's the real problem it was a failure it was a total utter failure and his name goes on the failure his picture goes on the failure and if this information ever comes out we can then start talking about what a huge failure the guy is right i mean it is nothing short of a bond villain i mean that that's what he is that's what he's doing in this administration but regardless everything right now is infuriating with the response from the federal government with coronavirus american citizens were given what 1200 bucks 2 months ago and they haven't gotten another dime even though it's not safe to go back to work we're seeing the numbers spike everywhere there is no relief for
10:12 pm
working class people in this country i'm a new chin is trying to hide this program so that the wealthy corporations that suggestion get more money we already know it's happening we already know that the c.e.o.'s. the you know i have involved in hucksterism to get the money we know there's been con jobs for them to get the money we know that there's hustlers out there that in 13 days now think about this in 13 days they were already out of money because the 1st people in line with the affluent the 1st people in line with these corporations that had their lawyers collect the money up and mom and pop that's got a store on main street that really needs the money they ran out of money we had it happen right around here in pensacola you're getting calls like crazy what you mean there's no money this is a restaurant 3 generations in the family it but it's not a c.e.o. of a major corporation and they would create little shell companies and little new you know oh i have 5 employees at this business that was started 3 days ago i need $10000000.00 that's how the scheme worked and that's what newton is trying to and
10:13 pm
he is terrified by it because he's an idiot you've always called him an idiot and everything you've ever written and everything you've ever done in social media i applaud that because he is a true hero coming up dozens of drug companies are facing legal actions for cooperating with one another to singe in their prescription prices sky. that more when we come back. ah no no crowd. no shots no. action just don't speak up.
10:14 pm
no arrests. points your thirst for action. the deep history of the book of just a non-conformist utopia or a politically correct i'll take your dig nonetheless the experiment being played out in seattle is no laughing matter the ideas of law and order and the legitimate use of force are at stake a piece of advice go visit shots for chast visits you. in the troubled 19 seventies a group of killers rampage through parts of northern ireland that was coordinated loyalists attacks protecting only catholic population in belfast tens of thousands were forced to flee their homes and what was striking to put these attacks was that the r.u.c. the police actually took part in the attacks so instead of preventing it they were active participants in the burning of coal streets in belfast at the time more than
10:15 pm
a 100 innocent civilians were. as the review can seniors and we found out more i was surprised about the extent and of the currents which the collusion was involved in some of those cases that killers would later be named goodwin and the gang i think it went to the very very top i think it is crossed the water where all the taste since you thought it was going on and give the go ahead. a sweeping lawsuit accuses $26.00 drug manufacturers of colluding in a price fixing scheme to drive the cost of gin their prescriptions or those joins me now to talk about this story really to which companies are named in the lawsuit and how did they defraud the public. well there are $26.00 companies named the
10:16 pm
defendants include notable drug makers milan pfizer sun pharmaceutical industries and novartis is sandoz unit and at least 10 drug company executives who are responsible for sales marketing pricing in operations the $450.00 page complaint outlines how the companies and executives artificially inflated the prices of 80 generic drugs through phone calls text messages emails corporate conventions and even cozy dinner parties the executives reportedly in constant communication colluding to fix prices and restrain competition their alleged activities are of course illegal under federal and state antitrust and consumer protection laws so it's great to see this lawsuit coming forward. yeah but in america if you're dressed up in a suit you have a tie on and you carry a briefcase and you get a bit. your laws are different from everybody else i see none of these thugs will see the inside of
10:17 pm
a prison even though 'd the laws very clear it's felony felony felony we're not talking about misdemeanor law here we're talking about serious felonies in the department of justice under clinton was unwilling to do anything about it under bush was when unwilling to do it under obama not going to send anybody in prison under trial nobody's going to go to prison so so this is been going on for so long because we they they know they never have to go to prison all they do is pay a fine and that's get out of jail free what drugs do the companies inflate what what prices did they inflate. well this complaint really focuses on generic. topical skin products so dermatology products including the local anesthetic light it can't mint anti-fungal cream missile and let's head across drops for treating glaucoma and other eye diseases these are drugs that are commonly prescribed so many people rely on them and this game unfortunately took place allegedly between 20092016 which denied millions of consumers access to affordable generic
10:18 pm
alternatives to those expensive brand name counterparts and the fact that the prices of these generic topical drugs had increased exponentially over that time frame is really what prompted this investigation prices were skyrocketing without explanation in some cases doubling tripling or even increasing by over 1000 person . well we know this we know the you start 2000 we know the eric holder not only did not prosecute them he gave them their way out every time they were every time they were corner eric holder let him nobody was even investigated much less prosecuted then comes in loretta lynch right after eric holder you see the both of those folks just like we saw with the bush administration just like we saw with the clinton administration just like we see with the trumpet ministration they all are just joined with industry all kinds of
10:19 pm
industry not just drug industry all the industry the cost of generic drugs aren't just high in dermatology there are higher across the board as in the health care in general what kind of bills are covert 19 patients seeing these days. it's been absolutely crazy how people who have been treated for kobe 1000 have reported receiving astronomical medical bills one woman in new york accidentally received a bill that should have actually gone directly to her insurance company but it eliminated how high health care prices are now her bill totaled over $400000.00 it was reduced to $75000.00 as a. financial assistance benefit but still she can't afford to pay that much when she actually looked at the bill to find out what she was charged for it was really vague it did it include $1.00 line for prescriptions for over $42000.00 actually was titled pharmacy now there was no itemized breakdown letting her know what the drugs had cost or even what drugs the doctors gave her and then another coven
10:20 pm
$1000.00 patient from seattle said that his car on a virus medical bills totaled over $1100000.00 now he's not going to have to pay most of that due to special financial aid rules that apply only to cope in 19 due to those congressional bills that were just passed but people suffering from other diseases like cancer they're often on the hook for similarly outrageous bills. and the point is this the point is we these these folks these c.e.o.'s absolutely know that they are criminally breaking the law but they're absolutely know that in washington d.c. they're going to get away with it someone's going to have to pay a fine but nobody goes to prison so the next c.e.o. comes in and does exactly the same thing without a perp walk this is never going to change and i haven't seen a president that is have the damn backbone to do what he should have done in appoint an attorney general who serious about throwing white collar criminals in
10:21 pm
prison and that's what we have here and it's only going to get worse bridgie to thank you for joining me. thanks mike airlines around the world have taken a nosedive with the coronavirus pandemic scrapping millions of travel plans so what's the story of the airlines tweaking their passenger agreements making it more difficult to get paid when you pay an airline a 1000 dollars trying to get it back when they cancel your flight let's talk about the yes so basically these there are a number of airlines that have added these additional clauses even before code head where they you know you have to sign these carriage of car contracts that carriage when you buy a ticket is. it's a standard industry document if you want to take it before you can even swipe your credit card to buy that plane ticket you basically have to agree to this and there are clauses in there that say if you've got a problem with this airline we're going to have to go to arbitration or you can file an individual lawsuit but no class actions and so essentially it's one of those what you call a contract of adhesion yes yes it is on joyce yeah so here's how it works airline
10:22 pm
owes you $800.00 because you paid them and they say they canceled not even on a covert they just canceled the flight so you call them and you say i want my $100.00 back they say well no you're going to have to you're going to go to arbitration to get a bag or get a valid order or get a voucher and what is a pap inning is these if you if you're owed $800.00 by the airline right you can't sue him because the cost to sue them is so much but the way you could go after him is in a class action where you had thousands of people that were treated the same way and it's one lawsuit and they say under the one lawsuit this conduct by american airlines was wrong it was a contract of adhesion the you made these people sign they had to sign in order to travel it's of due process argument it's an equal protection argument and frankly the only way that anybody's going to get the money back is the class action well i think that because they talked about that that class actions are actually where the
10:23 pm
few avenues that an individual has in order to pursue the litigation for exactly what you're talking about and when you say something like that i might well gosh can you go to small claims court know you had it in your state but that's what they said it most airlines aren't subject to state or individual state laws and or consumer laws that would be in place and actually protect the consumer have to sue in federal court the chance look here's the only good news there is a spectacular class action law firm handling a case on this is called burger monterey we work with them all the time there are powells we do business with them we're partners and some lawsuits they are the best class action law firm in america they're going to. american airlines are going after some of these other folks that's the only sure that's the only the only possibility of changing all those as of yesterday so you have american airlines british airways friend to airline spirit airlines also have the new class action clause and you have american airlines is one of the few that responded and said no no we give people arbitration as an option or doze off the plane and they can still
10:24 pm
bring an individual lawsuit which if you don't realize what that means like you talked about the individual lawsuit is not an option they owe you $700.00 a gram 5000 just initiate lawsuit they know this once they get the the guy the person that's owed money in arbitration the arbitrators are typically typically controlled by the corporation right so if the amazon has been under fire for exactly there is no there's no arbitrator there that's out looking for the consumer the arbitrator gets their job because of their contacts with these various corporations so this whole process of what american airlines is doing what incensed me about some of the articles that were written is they actually with a straight face american airlines with a straight face says we're trying to help that's what they say that's what we're trying to help our passengers as in the what which i mean exactly right yet again even with the spend we you know you can still bring in individual lawsuit with a straight face knowing that that's going to get them nowhere but it defeats the
10:25 pm
whole industry is going to change because part of this you know you've got so many cancellations of flights billions of dollars going to have flying actions they're facing so it seems like this is almost a hail mary on the part of the airline and the contracts he's in are not favored by the court so it's not going to work out well. mostly depends on what judge it appears and from the father who had some good news last week google was hit with a 5000000000 dollar lawsuit for privacy violations being committed by the tech company the lawsuit claims that the company has been tracking the data of users even when those user specifically said don't track me you're not permitted to track me this class action lawsuit. in a long time coming in tourney's are expecting the class to cover millions of users who've had their privacy violated their rights violated by google if it's successful the lawsuits hoping to recover up to $5000.00 for every individual who had their data scraped and tracked by google illegally online privacy violations

are becoming far too common and while other countries have taken strong steps towards guaranteeing that users aren't taken advantage of america is falling dangerously behind due to the severe lack of regulations and leadership at the top this is what corporate money buys you in the united states in american internet users are the ones who pay that prize even though they don't know it most of the time so that's often find us on twitter and facebook at facebook dot com slash r t america's mayor what's all our t.v. programs on direct t.v. channel one and streaming live on you tube and be sure to check out this new r t portable app that's out there it is fabulous you can follow any anything you want to follow on to. happen tony on this is america or every week we tell you the story the corporate media is ordered not to tell because of their political connections and because their advertisers demand that they not tell the story of a great. if

deep economic crisis. become a battleground in the us in vermont people love to. have a local plant. is right now my focus because it's a very dangerous oh no care power plant the owner is attempting to run the reactor beyond its operational limits this case just sort of puts a magnifying glass where's the power in this country where is it going is it moving more towards corporate interests or is it more in the idea of a traditional participatory democracy is or powerline with the people this case demonstrates that struggle in the very real ways though a struggle. this
