2:00 pm
hello there i'm a military man you're watching in question broadcasting from our to america's national news headquarters in washington d.c. here are today's top stories 1st an attempt for tat moves china slaps sanctions on 3 u.s. lawmakers and a u.s. envoy in retaliation for u.s. sanctions over beijing's treatment details straight ahead plus amazon now backtracking saying the memo sent to employees to delete tick-tock was in error this while wells fargo is demanding employees to delete the video sharing out over security concerns as well then washington redskins no more major news regarding the future of the n.f.l. franchise here in washington d.c. it's time to boost your news i q.
2:01 pm
china has just announced sanctions against the united states which target some of beijing's most vocal critics this comes one week after the u.s. sanctioned several chinese officials over reports that they are targeting some ethnic minorities artie's racial blevins is joining us now to break down the latest developments here so rachel what explanation did beijing give for the sanctions well a spokesperson for china's foreign ministry spoke out and she said that these sanctions are specifically in retaliation to the same sions that were imposed by the u.s. last week and which they accuse several chinese officials of human rights abuses against ethnic and religious minorities now china has denied these accusations repeatedly and it also accuse the united states of trying to meddle in its internal affairs take a listen. the vicious harassment interrogation and threats by the united states
2:02 pm
seriously damaged the legitimate rights and interests of chinese citizens in the us and also interrupted and destroy the normal people to people exchanges which has turned into outright political persecution is that transgressed moral duty and destructive self image. now beijing also accuse the us of trying to increase tensions because the state department sun on a warning over the weekend to any u.s. citizen living in or traveling through china and which is said that they should be on notice that they could be wrongfully detained for political reasons ok so then who exactly did china target with these sanctions and how are those people responding well these sanctions go after u.s. officials and lawmakers who have been known of some of beijing's harshest critics and who have called for president trump to pursue really strict policies against china now these names include sam brownback trump's ambassador at large for international religious freedom republican senators marco rubio and ted cruz and republican representative chris smith now in response to the news they of course
2:03 pm
took to twitter where rubio wrote the communist party of china has banned me from entering the country i guess they don't like me and cruz wrote balmer i was going to take my family to beijing for summer vacation right after visiting tae wrong so it doesn't appear that they're too upset about this news sure and how do you think this will impact the overall relations between the u.s. and china especially on the trade front given you know the back and forth tip for tap for trade has been going on for like 2 years exactly and this seems to be just the latest conflict between the 2 countries and given all of the current tensions it is even led president trump to say that he's not sure if there will be a phase 2 of the trade deal now he was asked about this by reporters in which he responded and said the u.s. relationship with china has been severely damaged by the coronavirus pandemic you allege that china could have stopped the plague as he called it but failed to do so and he claimed that pursuing phase 2 of a trade deal isn't on the table right. now because he is dealing with other issues now we've seen term go back and forth in recent months on saying whether or not he
2:04 pm
wants to even continue with these one so no remains to be seen how the latest engines will play your role in all of the tensions that we see going on here he was hoping to have the trade deal done before their 2020 elections but here we are of levin's thank you so much thank you. and amazon has backed away from an e-mail sent friday instructing employees to delete tick-tock from company mobile devices now amazon says that e-mail which was sent as an alert to thousands of amazon employees was a mistake in the now retracted e-mail amazon had stated this quote due to security risks the tick tock app is no longer permitted on mobile devices that access amazon e-mail if you have to talk on your device you must remove it by 10 july to retain mobile access to amazon e-mail at this time using to talk from your amazon laptop browser is allowed so joining us now to discuss all that the west coast
2:05 pm
investigative journalist fence one all right ben so when amazon speaks we know the whole world listens what were some of the immediate fall out problems from the original e-mail. yeah regionally when there's e-mail went out obviously everybody jumped on it to us senators reid tweeted josh holley the republican senator from missouri said it was time for the u.s. government to follow suit and do what amazon was doing but of course within a couple of hours amazon backtracked and released a statement i want to read to you what they said then they came out saying this morning's e-mail to some of our boys were sent in error they said there is no change to our policies right now with regard to tick tock. so right now right right now so as we speak right now there is this reversal and do we know why or how this could have been accidentally sent out well that's that's the whole question about the right now isn't it i mean when when amazon essentially
2:06 pm
sends out an e-mail to thousands of employees as an alert saying if you have a company device you must delete to talk off that device because it is now threatening your amazon e-mails it's threatening your intro work e-mails there's a threat because of the chinese government in their access to what you might have somebody is having high level conversations at amazon to the point where someone drafted this e-mail or maybe the e-mail was a draft they were planning to send out in the future in the near future but. it doesn't make sense for some random employed to write out a small a civic warning about to talk accidentally sent out that wasn't supposed to go out apparently the at some level amazon is considering doing this in the future well here's the big question and then do they perhaps know something that you and i don't know about i know you just joined tech talk yourself. yeah here's the thing is that there is a huge push right now to essentially disassociate from tick-tock we know that india
2:07 pm
is doing that they have pushed to talk out of the country we know that mike pompei the secretary of state's talking about doing that the reality though that as far as i'm concerned is that is it true that to talk is gathering data on you and reviewing what's on your phone it's very possible that it's happening but the issue that i have with it isn't that talk is doing it it's that all tech companies are doing it now and the attitude towards to talk is because it's chinese it is inevitably bad that they do it but when facebook does it arizona's doing it with the alexa that it's not a bad thing it's ok because these are american companies yeah and so it's it's a huge level hypocrisy and by the way as you mentioned in the lead up here wells fargo actually just did this with their employees telling their employees on company phones they cannot have took the uk so i mean if there is this chatter coming out of washington then if this is you know a state department line in the sand to you and take tock what do you think will
2:08 pm
happen what do you think that signals to to us the consumer or what do you think that signals about u.s. china relations if this all out right man could happen. well i think a rule it says several things about the us trying to relationship with just certainly that if that's only going to amplify and accelerate a division between the u.s. and china which isn't necessarily a good thing but again there's another issue here and that is the issue of the fight with everybody else is playing by the different set of rules from what i can tell and from all the information that's been presented there is no indication that to talk is doing anything that other tech companies are not also doing and so the fact that you would say this one is a threat when they do it because of their relations with the chinese government but these companies are not a threat when they do it even though they have a relationship with the u.s. government i think that is problematic and it's certainly problematic because no one is standing up and say milk company should be gathering this information there is no credible voice pushing back on the idea that tech companies are gathering in
2:09 pm
mass everything about you if you only if they're chinese that it's bad and that is a problem or the russian face change app that aging app remember that from last year that's right men totally inconsistent message coming from washington about any of any or all of our apps so we'll live right there and that's one always appreciate your taking insight thank you from the things. and now to the latest cove in 1000 numbers worldwide cases now topping over 13000000 with 569000 reported deaths the top 3 countries with the most confirmed cases the u.s. still leading the way again followed by brazil and now india here in the u.s. cases topping 3000000 with about 135000 reported deaths taking a closer look at this country the charts show the number of new covert cases and deaths reported each day in the u.s. since the beginning of the outbreak that's what you're looking at there while the number of deaths are on the line the number of new cases 'd are on an upward trend

the author of the now debunked russian da ca christopher steele has drawn the ire of president trump again with poetess tweeting this calling for the extradition of steel after a u.k. court ordered mr steele pay damages to 2 russian bankers after he effectively slandered them in that now infamous dossier but while mr steele roams free following his publishing of his commission report another publisher awaits the outcome of his extradition hearing to the u.s. that is julian assange so for more on all of that let's go to former u.k. and george galloway and again full disclosure to our viewers george is personal friends with julian a songe so george it is the tale of 2 publishers it appears one of them locked up
2:17 pm
for publishing the truth the other are roaming the streets of london freely after publishing now proven lies what is going on here. well it's an even more tangled web is woven here you know because christopher steele is the former handler of and form a near neighbor of the now disappeared russian agent for the british intelligence service mr scriptural who was at least sent of the so-called love. affair saw here we have a month mr steele who is quite clearly guilty of involvement in a foreign funded foreign source to any way regime change operation in the united states of america because that's what his dossier was it was to force out of office the elected president of the united states
2:18 pm
a don't trump so mr trump has every reason to demand his extradition just as we have every reason to demand the extradition of on circle us the talk not just from the cia who has admitted to killing a young teenager in britain driving up the wrong side of the road after which she flew the coop falsely claiming diplomatic immunity all the while jewel in a son who never published a false war didn't his life is still languishing in belmarsh prison still wanted by the united states of america what a tangled web manila we had george axel and points i mean we should just leave it right there but if there's still more to unpack i mean i had no idea that mr steele was neighbors with the score palls and that is news folks that is a very very weird coincidence and george that the u.k.
2:19 pm
courts have ordered mr steele pay about 23000 u.s. in damages to 2 russian bankers that he sneered in that dasi a is that a fine and fair punishment you think. no not at all undone door britain's libel laws damages are normally a multiple of 5 least maybe 10 of that figure saw mr steele go off very lightly for what were very serious slanders of the entirely innocent people of a bank or anywhere can be innocent the bankers were innocent of the slander that he issued in the document in the dossier against the other don't see it was not just the regime change operation it was a series of fantastic lies it turns out that whenever you put dossier after something it's a it's a synonym for lies we've had the dodgy dossier that took us into the war in iraq
2:20 pm
we've had the dirty dossier that tried to bring down donald trump the question is begged manilla who is this man working for who is he really working for follow the money follow the orders follow the instructions if i were president trump i would i would not accept anything other than his extradition to face trial in the united states and if i were president trump i'd realised just as it's very uncomfortable to learn that foreigners are trying to remove your government from power but as true of those that the united states is trying to remove from power to them bizarre is that i mean with president trying now validating his complaints against mr steel any chance the walls might close in on him george if you know coming in some form of a warrant for mr steele's arrest would the british government hand over
2:21 pm
a former m i 6 by to the us. well it's a game of multi-dimensional chess this now because how could they justify refusing to after all the mountains that have been moved to extradite poor julian a stunt amount entirely innocent of any wrong doing to the united states how could you say we're going to break everybody of the exists to the extradition of julian our songe but we're not going to extradite christopher steele what would be the logic what would be the lawful lawful logic of refusing to do a short of what about your friend real briefly what is the status status of julian hearings that concerns at coronavirus that belmarsh what's going on there. september will be the beginning but of course there will be appeals to
2:22 pm
the outcome of this is going to run and run all the while bill has been refused guilin much well can get bill for all the things she's alleged to have done but not julian our son among the convicted of any crime. the prison belmarsh is not just britain's guantanamo bay it is the coronavirus rhythm tunnel will be but the want to loan them out even on a tag even on to the supervision of his wife and children with a policeman standing outside his door insisting on keeping him in belmarsh where his health condition continues to deteriorate both his physical health and his psychological health it's very very marcus story chopped up that will live on in infamy in british legal history and in u.s.
2:23 pm
