6:00 pm
it. was. greetings and sal you taishan. captain america as die no my friends i'm not talking about the marvel universe character who is far as we know is still sitting on a bench handing out shields and bits of wisdom is an old man by a lake no i'm talking about master sergeant andrew marcus sano a 34 year old active duty 82nd airborne ranger and green beret who got the nickname of captain america for among many things surviving 6 tours of duty in afghanistan tragically tragically marcus committed suicide
6:01 pm
a monday the 6th of july reportedly while standing in front of his wife. just 48 hours of the united states celebrated its independence our heart goes out to his family another soldier's life lost to the longest running war in u.s. history a war with no end in sight because my friends just before the tragic suicide of master sergeant marcus sato the united states house armed service committee led by congressional democrats were patting themselves on the back after passing an amendment to this year's annual n.d.a. the natural national defense authorization act which would prohibit the expenditure of monies to reduce the number of u.s. troops deployed in afghanistan below 8000 without a series of conditions 1st being met yes reduced and just what are these so-called conditions well according to the men according to the amendment the department of war sorry the department of defense must be able to certify that leaving
6:02 pm
afghanistan will not will not increase the risk for the expansion of existing or formation of new terrorist safe havens inside of afghanistan and that it will not compromise or otherwise negatively affect the ongoing united states counterterrorism mission against the islamic state al qaeda and associated forces. in other words my friends let's set the bar for leaving afghanistan so high so impossible to reach that no president no matter how just or unjust in their intentions for leaving will ever be able to bring our troops home from the war that never read and that is why we are always watching the hawks. she wanted was going on a city street you want to. be so you like to see the prices you always stay i'll see you always will slice grace suggests least systemic deception is the
6:03 pm
late show which i will sell when you feel. welcome on the watch of the hawks i am tired rover and i'm surprised so they are certain the bar high to get out of afghanistan over the last few weeks and the amount of money that they're spending on the n.b.a. in general during this crisis so pandemic just makes me weep inside after 10 years of covering stories like this and i think you're not alone with when with all of the things that you listed off in terms of the characteristics that they have to lead up to for a real pullout. there is no way he will ever meet the guy to meet one it would take decades to meet all of those who were going to go through presidency after presidency before we could even you know edge off a little bit of progress it really is incredible music because it's like those
6:04 pm
those where the those parameters are so like specific and yet very good at the same time you know it's like it's like what we have to know the stand will be safe and the you know terroristic forces or groups will never take over parts of the government before we leave well that's impossible to know and how we choose to have what is what is the process because unlike their new sub national actors that pop up all the time there are terrorist groups and terrorist cells that they believe have been eradicated but come to find out a decade later they have not been there's no possible way to make that a legitimate claim that we could actually you know have any level of security and leap from that's that it's unfair to set up a set of characteristics that you'll never possibly be able to meet and to me and then it's sad to see it come from house democrats to this wasn't the son of this wasn't like mitch mcconnell and those boys these were the house democrats this committee led by house democrats and it just shows the weird lust for neverending war that you have that permeates a lot of the halls of congress the committee approve the overall and the as i said
6:05 pm
unanimously by 560 that give a 740500000000 in military spending for the next year that's roughly 3 times more than the world's 2nd highest spender which is china that's a bit obscene given the nature of the of the crisis is that we're facing right now is that. it isn't it is not only because of you know the pandemic response and everything that's gone wrong there in addition to you know the economic losses that the united states has taken since $1000.00 hit the country but also the ones that are projected out over the next decade there are several things we could do with this kind of cash that would be a lot more peaceable than using it for purposes that are. mattick in more ways than one you mean it's only a mission that you are not excited right now you are not excited right now about the authorization of $79.00 new f. $35.00 that's not made that you know you man we got 79 yes 79 f. 30 five's lockheed martin's joint strike by fighters they were approved in the bill
6:06 pm
along with yet again another nuclear powered virginia class fast attack submarine because hey you know we're seeing a pandemic and massive amounts of people getting forced out of their apartments due to you know due to the rent coming back due again and all of these other problems at 39 and 35 is a good thing to have on the back pocket of this military industrial complex is never ending it seems like our pockets continually dig deeper for a lot of things that we honestly do not know we do not and just to give people an idea to the of where our priorities are according to the advancement of science the pentagon last year spent $55900000000.00 on research and development this is generally things that are designed to kill lots of people in mass would you look at that figure and look at the research and development that was spent in other branches of government health care 38000000000 compared to 55 energy just
6:07 pm
$4000000000.00 in the environment just to say we spend $55.00 almost $60000000000.00 on research and development of weapons of war rather than new forms of energy or our environment or health care it shows us what we care about it's not the thing that people often run on but it does in fact show that this is a congress pirating. america schools are taking a beating again 20182019 were marred with protests and demonstrations from teachers parents and local leaders teachers strikes during that period where the largest the nation has ever seen from chicago to l.a. and virginia to georgia teachers protested over pay the need for smaller classroom sizes more special education teachers counselors and other common sense needs and by the looks of it 2020 is launching more teacher advocacy. the los angeles teachers union recently released a white paper outlining new calls to action the demands range from defunding the
6:08 pm
police placing a moratorium on charter schools increasing funding from the local state and federal government as well as a wealth tax the white paper in title the same storm but different boats is gaining traction because it outlines the ways vulnerable children and communities are continually under-served and how covert 19 continues to lift the veil on systemic racism. today teachers principals superintendents local school councils and parents are fighting the white house and united states department of education secretary that's a good boss over the safety of students returning to school with out a plan during the pandemic there is always room for one more clown in the car for the top administration and folks in walks bitsie develops schools should do what's right on the ground at that time for their students and for their situation there is no one uniform approach that we can take should take nationwide.
6:09 pm
president trump is tweeting and yelling at anyone who will listen that it's time for students to return to school he's even threatening to cut school funding if they aren't reopened as if schools are already struggling financially trump dismissed the centers for disease control and prevention guidelines calling them quote very tough and expensive which he said ask schools to do impractical things impractical things mr president like what social distancing reducing classroom size to stop the spread providing better cleanest and say material measures what is impractical about that. absolutely nothing if we actually cared about the youth of america but you know what we have is if we actually cared about the children and their schooling or at least cared about the ones who are giving their money to private schools and but you know we care about kids in public schools then you would see action but i don't i don't really think they do you know that they i
6:10 pm
don't think there's a there or if there might be lip service of but i don't think at the end of the care you're absolutely right again this goes back to politicians having priorities in word but in action not so much. somebody who never should have been department of education secretary she doesn't have a background in education she's not someone who's ever served in any education capacity as a principal as a superintendent and any type of school leader as a teacher nothing assistant teacher somebody who volunteered in a classroom to go on down the list she's never had the experience but she is someone who is wrote big checks to charter schools and we've seen over and over her you know need for privatization of schools but there's something else that is an undercurrent here when it comes to the priorities because as you know there are several acts that were designed from the federal level to give more money to public schools that care that the heroes act being among them those were never fully funded so k. $12.00 education is lacking a lot of funding from the federal level the local level and the state level and right now estimates show that it would take up to $500000000000.00 in allocation
6:11 pm
just for the special education needs of students to be met alone right now you know they're asking for a private 1000000000 they're not even getting 1000000000 wow it's amazing too because as you said you know you always hear you know politicians running whether federal or state talking about education and that's what they run on the campaign trail more money to education all that stuff but it's amazing when you look at the actual percentage of members of schools who are being funded growth absolutely 87 percent of schools in america are not funded adequately at the state level and that means that where where do you pick up that huge shortfall in the budget at the local level and they do that by property taxes and if you're. somebody who grows up in an impoverished or poor community or community where there are more runners than there are home owners your schools don't have that bundy those property tax dollars are a lot lower and that helps to set the standard between schools that are in wealthier areas or upper middle class areas versus those that are largely under-served underprivileged or areas that are black and brown and the free market is going to
6:12 pm
change because as we talked about on this show as you've talked about most lenders aren't given out home loans to folks who live in that area to begin with the so they're adding go there is no that's not going to change anytime soon unless people get together as a community through the government or through the elected politicians that we that we lead to aware of these things and want to change these things for real that's the only way or most of that change absolutely so it's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy but you know who is still funded a very high levels regardless of being in black and brown impoverished communities and the police. these school districts particularly we touch on l.a. but as they are looking to push towards a lot of the deep on the police narrative because they're seeing how many billions are thrown into policing districts at the behest of these school districts that are begging for dollars for basic things technology books that are up today they are begging for it you know that these that they have around $1000.00 we're talking reducing classroom sizes you can only do that if you have a space that is the bailable for you to have enough classrooms for reducing from
6:13 pm
2535 students to 12 and many places just don't you know it's really incredible to me when you talk about the l.a. teachers exist one of the if not the biggest teachers' union in the country and the fact that they're saying hey we're on board to fund the police the pact they introduce like hey we want to wealth tax like that that is speaks volumes about where i think teachers or you know obviously one union doesn't represent everybody but the biggest union saying this is where we stand that's a pretty big statement exactly in their white paper to its credit goes to great pains to talk about and point to research as to why you know they deep on the police movement needs to be taken seriously. what these things could go towards in terms of more special education funding in terms of more teachers aid and assistance particularly looking at counsellors because when most need to recognise is that a lot of people are dying during kobe 900 and there are young people who are still going to school after the loss of their parents grandparents violence in certain communities homelessness homelessness is a huge problem in l.a.
6:14 pm
a lot of those kids come to school and they don't have a home to go back to so they're also looking towards relief for that that's incredible i mean more power to the teachers union for standing firm and saying no this is what we want and i hope that sets a precedent for other unions across the country say hey look at what they're asking it's not pile in the sky it's actually what would potentially work to revitalize our public school educators absolutely and with the protest movement i think that they just might be able to break through the noise so all right everybody as we go to break remember that you can also start watching the hawks on the man through the brand new portable t.v. ad which is a bailable as you can see on all platforms writing now is you've got no excuse pick it up all right coming up on our next half and i say we're suborbital bernie joins us to discuss the state of security or possibly lack thereof surrounding us voting in 2020 i don't want to miss those states for watchable.
6:15 pm
and then in. tower read out read i turn on the t.v. on the about the world and what's happened in the around me i see shows on the screens but in last every day because the fake news narrative steady state the need to maybe cooling his clock build enough business with mom f. to barbara fabric globalism a kid my house plenty off this endless war but i found a network that'll question science breakthroughs that space civil strife climate
6:16 pm
change stop a war think cool simplify lists all the mainstream wants to do was keep us quiet here watch the right you can't keep a stylist critical point seize hold perspective question inside direct we don't take sides we walk the dog artsy america of means real talk. you cannot be bold with yeah you're right.
6:17 pm
i'm holland cook i invite you to climb with me above the main stream media empire and from that higher fan to each to glimpse the big picture question more. democrats republicans green parties libertarians independents i don't know satanists everybody across the united states from sea to shining sea have this upcoming election day and early member have pegged this upcoming election day in early november as one of the most important for the future history of the united states while every election day here in the u.s. and around the world makes for the ultimate choose your own adventure 2020 is set
6:18 pm
to be quite the doozie from the debate over voting by mail that has u.s. president donald trump so panicked to hack the voting machines to good old fashioned legalized gerrymandering that we've seen over the years this year's bedr one state elections on november 3rd are looking right up for controversy security boulevard observes that it is alarmingly easy to hack into u.s. voting systems at the 2018 def-con conference and an 11 year old boy hacked into a replica of the florida state election website and change the voting results in under 10 minutes wow at the 2019 death con conference organizers assembled over 100 machines and not a single machine was left on compromised so how do we protect the most basic and important tool of our free society and of our democracy of a republic well joining us now to discuss these dangers and more is the former national security agency intelligence officer and whistleblower thank you for your service the one and only william binney bill always
6:19 pm
a pleasure having you on sir. so there was a lot of different stories and scenarios leading into this election where you know concerning the sanctity and security of our individual votes what do you feel is the biggest concern but u.s. voters should have when going to the polls in november. well i believe the integrity of whose vote is fundamental to the cynics you know for example judicial i said that in their surveys that about 3 and a half 1000000 people who are registered to vote who are who you know i think their numbers and the like it's probably one half of what really is the problem but it's spread out a new one senator who's counting if one and a quarter 1000000 people who are registered to book are notable well that's a major problem the young with a 100 men already there are a minority voting rolls system whether or not they're eligible citizens to vote is
6:20 pm
fundamental to this process and have to add it's a question of needing to machines and the people in hong kong and all of that and there there's a whole process there so it's there and isn't monitored from beginning to end so in other words they don't have any rigs on the line anybody changing anything. you did on present when they went on the line and and met and change numbers on the on the elections result now could be detected and it could be picked up and they'd need it so i mean and then the machines themselves may not be registering the crank number of votes for a given candidate which means you can the parallel check and balance to verify that the machines are operating properly none of that exists in any state that we've been on while. and along that same vein bill we know that there is something else that is taking up this election cycle in america u.s. president don't trump and other top republicans have made
6:21 pm
a vote by mail one. the biggest threat to having election free of voter fraud do you think mail in voting is really as dangerous as the top administration aides making it out to be. i certainly think it is a major issue that could be in fact in major problem especially if somebody is in the in the loop of boats going in and out of the post office for example if you if you can manufacture it you can capture a numbers of boats and handle them separately for example boating for people who don't really want to get up and do the book themselves then that's a real problem so that i think it's 1000008 year i think we need instances where it's validating who is brought in and. some kind of process that has you know link in we have to get a real idea from the state here in maryland through that and certainly if you need it in the end and the 1st years of the united states and there are. yes there mir
6:22 pm
and they are the ones actually both you know bill it's interesting because i've heard a lot of people say over the years that you know would be better for us to possibly move to online voting you know as someone who worked with me on a say for many years i mean do you feel about something that like if the right could be an answer through a source online voting a little too dangerous these days given the hacking a boat is out there. well for example we had to live in your old again that you had mentioned who hacked into the. now in 10 minutes when. if you're on line that's that's really what you're. be exposed in that fashion and you know it's they can be done anywhere in the world so you know how it's a real hazard in my view. on the democrat side of things i mean we've heard the fear mongering out of republicans on the democrats we've got a lot of filmography over you know calls once again over alarm of russian influence in this election bill you've been
6:23 pm
a big big advocate against those actors. that were made during the russia gate fiasco what do you make of these latest calls from the left and others of potential russian interference in the 2020 election. again and even their alleged interference in the 2016 election was was put into courts in the terms of the rosenstein indictment and at least one of the people they called trolls for the russian government who are you know trying to interfere in the election they came over and sent their lawyers in saying we are not in any way connected with the russian government this was the internet research agency out of st petersburg russia and so the government had to prove that and they failed they couldn't have they had no proof and so the judge really gave it to them say you were never to mention this it's important. because you can't prove anything and that's exactly what the entire kind of new report ought provocation they knew that we had forensic evidence it's pretty good most likely was artist cia but it was the average age and
6:24 pm
he didn't back and we also could group the wiki leaks data big from the scene and they post it was downloaded to work towards the place and i'm grown ever since you promise it's equally transported record. another one that was not a hack nor would they had to have known what the heck and we can also prove for example there's weeks on i died and that moves through to publish them and you can only know i'm saying here they've got russian signatures in light of the data into our research in the u.k. for in the in the same the same items napalm in the opening of protest. but they didn't have any russian thing to know that meant cooper to inserted the russian language which means fabrication or claims or fabrication fascinating stuff . and bill what can individuals cannes and others around the world do to protect their vote from the kinds of attacks you've been discussing. now whether it's going
6:25 pm
to be hard for individual who are going to get involved here i'm really it's really it's really going to be difficult for anybody to do anything i mean you can show up at the polls you can one that is a machine you know rid of your record there's no way to check that and if you're if the vote totals are not some great or they're not modified by somebody online doing something like the hackers and def con could do well you can't you can't really you're really helpless against the government's really got to step in and do that no recent letters to all the secretaries of states of the of the states of the united states he clearly won in puerto rico and other places too saying there are ways to verify and validate the voting role than make sure that people coming in the boat are actually eligible to vote also if you use of the right comparisons with the databases the government already has at state local and federal level things that they legitimately have in
6:26 pm
a different and different agencies you can verify and validate everything in the whole country all the polling stations who supposed to be there who live here and you can also weigh in on. whose impact not in any illegal immigrant and where they are. well bill i want to so thank you very much for coming on today always a pleasure having me on the show and for educating our audience thank you so much for. thank you. for a boil foreground bill bell is always a fascinating guy to have on to bring up some interesting bits of very very honest very into a city doesn't hold back the you know it there clearly problems with this and that and to me that's what makes us all borders the voting is like the last like there's a lot of problems a german thing was that that's the last gasp of the block receive the votes we've got to protect the heart of what about is our show. for you today remember in this world we are not told that we are love that it's all you all i love the world and i'm in the keep on watching although there are another great thing about it.
