news coverage spoke of the murder until today because today officer sean lucas was charged with murder a course of events that actually happened swiftly considering in most cases it takes weeks or months for an officer to be arrested and charged after a fatal shooting could this incident turn the tide let's dig deeper jonathan price was a pillar of his community a city employee tear and well known public servant price witnessed a fight at a local gas station in what city texas between a woman and a man and he intervened price was attempting to diffuse the situation and reduce any potential harm to the woman and at some point a passer by presumably called law enforcement but by the time they derived price had already defused the situation. price was truly a hero that likely prevented a complete stranger from suffering from domestic violence but when police arrived on the scene price was given anything but a hero's welcome but

a camera footage showed police officer lucas tasing price even though there was no aggressive or threatening posture that would have supported that level of force price was actually walking away when he was struck by alexa wave of the. got and after that already an unnecessary use of force the police officer then proceeded to shoot price in the back but times price was unarmed according to an official statement from the texas rangers with camera footage the rangers now say the preliminary investigation indicates quote the actions of officer lucas were not objectionably reasonable. officer lucas has since been arrested and charged with murder his bond is set for $1000000.00. well that is a credible lead what we're looking at with this because it just it just boggles my mind it was happy to see that we might like i mean what do you think do you think that this is

a turning point were some departments across this country are saying hey rather than longer at this so rather than claim that you know we're going to put it we're going to charge someone with charge an officer with murder when they go over the line like this i think this case presents its own bit of differences from some of the other ones that we've seen 1st and foremost there is somebody who is still who was there on the scene who also witnessed this happen the woman who actually got involved in engaging in disrupting that fight where it looked like she was being threatened by a male but the other thing that is very interesting here is that the texas rangers and the police officers have already you know the police force has already come out because they had to that video had already been released. showing that this may impose absolutely no threat not even for the stun gun much less him actually being shot in the back 3 times this was somebody who is technically a pillar of the community he had come in and he had tried to stop a fight which is something we would expect or at least hope for if i am is just

passing by and sees that a woman is being threatened but the interesting note i want to make here was that this is the type of hero conservative tried to make rittenhouse remember the young man who decided he was going to take a gun and travel you know to a whole nother state. and wound up killing multiple people and conservatives talked about it is though he was somebody who was protecting his community and that wasn't even a community in this case this is where jonathan price was born and raised this is his place this is a place where he is known this is a place where he is respected he works for city government a place where all of his neighbors know who he is he saw something he decided to do something tried to intervene and wound up losing his life well. it's interesting when you really look like when you point out that this was somebody who you know is well if he put all the chalk marks that you know you see a lot of times in white media literacy like white conservative you're like well this person was clearly you know a bad guys so somehow they deserved to get choked out or this person had a criminal record so somehow they deserved to get you know to get shot 6 times in

the back but as you point out this wasn't this guy so there's no excuse for this but why is that somebody has to have this pristine record to actually see charges correctly brought against the police when the record shouldn't even come into play it should be the actions of police right well by somebody you mean black people you know exactly you know translation i think that part of that is how america sees black people specifically black man is always having to prove themselves innocent 1st and that's not something that you know that that happens when white men are involved in this type of thing so i think that in this case we're seeing quite frankly an expeditious process in him being charged this happened on saturday so just a few days later there are already charges he's already been arrested that is unheard of and police involved shootings it's i do think that that's a very important point to note i think it is a good point to note i mean i would hope that we're going to see. you know because that's how many cases we see it even with body can footage and things like that

roll over and over and over and over again where it's constantly like you see the police union step in and everyone then let the gears of justice just stop and roll slowly and maybe this is that i hope it's a sign that like hey you know. people shoot people who are trying to help people in our community that maybe we should actually hold cops accountable when they step over bounds like this absolutely and there is a facebook post that that price did just like 4 months ago that is now being brought to light may think that it's important for our viewers to see that as well in the facebook post price that there were times i should have been detained for speeding outstanding 5 patients outdated registration dozing off at a red light before making it to my garage downtown dallas after a long night i passed a sobriety test after leaving a bar while a texas by 2 white cops and they still let me drive to where i was headed and by the way they consider wiley texas to be very racist i've never got that kind of energy from the popo not saying black lives no matter but don't forget about your

justice ruth bader ginsburg nope this time the highest court in the land is making news for taking all one of america's favorite pastimes baseball the supreme court recently been requests to dismiss a lawsuit that seeks to increase wages for minor league players this could be a watershed moment for wage piercy but it doesn't come without hurdles here to tell us more is our team sports correspondent jeanne how well they were doing. well regina this lawsuit by minor league baseball players was given the green light to go ahead and trial court even though the supreme court denied a request to take the case can you give us the cliff notes version of that lawsuit it's pretty basic when you drill down to it mean it minor league baseball 2014 decided they weren't being paid enough and major league baseball said yes you are that's the nuts and bolts if you want to dig a little bit deeper into it they were getting paid less than $7500.00 a year to put that in perspective the poverty line in the u.s.

is $12760.00 a year and some of these statistics you see on salaries on the man really baseball structure are shocking if you're a rookie or you're playing a short season $290.00 a month i think i spend that money on gas. so players decided they needed to have a better advocate and to actually make a livable wage 20 b. actually snuck in a little bill and some federal legislative action that is called the save america's pastime act and what that did is argue that they were seasonal workers they did not deserve to be paid a wage they would pay a yearly worker so this isn't a 6 year court battle to get some sort of wage parity and manly baseball is still fighting paying a livable wage to arguably its farm system or this is where your up and coming stars are coming out of and they're like you know what you're seasonal we don't pay a much that's the round of this it's interesting because you know we've heard over and over again these horror stories about how major league baseball is kind of shown their face with their inability to support their farm teams and now you have

this kind of attempt to subtly disregard fair pay for these players who aren't in the big league spotlight could be called up or spend their entire career there the league wants to know here deal philly 8 teams from the minor leagues or from you know from basically small town baseball is this common this shows it's like a blatant middle finger disregard to your farm system which is essentially where you're getting every year your next crop of potential superstars or just you know ballplayers absolutely if you look at the fact that minor league baseball and major league baseball they have their talks of falling apart to kind of form a new p.b.s. so essentially make minor major league baseball it would take over everything and there are $160.00 farm team system it starts singling goes up to aaa which is pretty much one step below the majors they would get rid of 40 teams now that is 40 teams with dozens of players personnel coaches staff that you're just telling you know what you don't care that you exist and the fact that you won't pay these

people need a livable wage even minimum wage didn't nightbane the minimum wage when your average major league baseball star that like 2019 makes $4000000.00 you can barely pay them $15000.00. and and yet you're like you know let's tighten the belt let's tighten the belt let's tighten the belt and you're telling these players we don't care about you and even players on twitter sometimes joke like a life of a minor league or my kitchen is in my bedroom at my $900.00 apartment that i have maybe $50.00 or i left it's sad it's disgusting and these are suppose they are you know some are heroes yet we're like you know what you really don't matter. do you think bad kobe 1000 has an impact here is this lawsuit a result of kobe 1000 in the economic stress of that and what impact or is there an impact this has on it and has this lawsuit been brewing for a while isn't brings us right 14 but i think over it exacerbated the issue you have the appalachian leave for example that is a 10 team squad oh environmentally baseball and major league baseball major league

baseball says you know we're going to make you now not really part of this minor league system we're going to make you independent baseball which is so arguably very fun to watch but now they're saying you know you're going to be for the top $340.00 collegiate players in a wood bat summer season so now they're even getting around paying them that this minor league a wage so koven is ravished minor league baseball it shut down the season they didn't play one at all compared to major league baseball who played this year and a lot of teams economically are going to suffer players like play for the oakland athletics they were told they were going to get paid period not even a salary not even any sort of site but for their season being canceled and you're going to see a lot of teams fold because of this and it's going to ravage the landscape of baseball and that's because a lot of the mother league teams are where a lot of you know they're in cities that don't see big major league clubs come in a lot of them and they're sometimes the only baseball the only entertainment for those communities nearby who can afford to go pay for the big time $1200.00 ticket

to go see the major league team play what about all the water league teams get a little bit of time like the all of the g. league in the n.b.a. are they facing similar issues or are they being treated as far as wage and all of those they seem to have a little bit more of an equal footing not. back with equal obviously these are still there developmentally it's a little bit higher and livable then minor league players the gili they have an elite prospect contract and what that means you have to be 18 you play for 5 months just so much you get paid $125000.00 for your little boy players that is beyond a little guy or a bad would you know you know you don't forger you know 2 for 3 at burger king. as a simple program you can't be you know 18 you can't play in a junior hockey league but these players a lot of the go on to play in the n.h.l. they even go on to play at the olympics so you're seeing that these leagues invest in their minor leagues or l.b. is pretty much saying you know what fend for yourself all right well gee that thank you so much for coming on always a pleasure given the giving us that sports update on what's happening there. all
