7:30 am
and i. think the in the in the clip that i've come to you in this. so to. speak is the. greetings and sell you take all right the great leader yes u.s. president donald trump is finally back in the confines of his plush white house bunker to wait out his bout with covert 19 after leaving walter reed hospital on monday thankfully is brand of performance art was on full display these last 2 days
7:31 am
especially on monday night with not only the president claiming that maybe he's he's you know maybe actually. took over 19 and that we shouldn't be a frame. i didn't feel so good and 2 days ago i could have left 2 days ago today is going to feel great like better than i have in a long time i said use reason a better than 20 years ago don't let it dominate don't let it take over your lives yes coded take over our lives we'll you know what i'm sorry mr president but i'm pretty sure the families of the over 200000 u.s. citizens who have died from this pandemic kept a pretty good reason to disagree with you but you see it wasn't just himself the dominated the president trumps thoughts this week as he also pointed out on twitter that quote the fake news media refuses to discuss how good the economy and stock market including jobs of the trumpet ministration are doing we will soon be in
7:32 am
record territory all they want to discuss is couvade 90 you know for one side agree mr president let's discuss the u.s. economy and our friends on wall street in fact just last week the federal reserve released its legal latest triennial study into consumer and household by nance's and according to mint press news the report found that quote millionaires and billionaires hold a remarkable 79.2 percent of the united states household wealth and then only 11.9 percent of american households have at least $1000000.00 in wealth to their name only 11 only 12 percent roughly but but what about wall street us that that magical mystical place that realm of power here in the united states well truth is wall street means very little to most americans as a political political reports that the reality is that the wealthiest one percent
7:33 am
of americans own 50 percent of the value of stocks held by individual households and the top 10 percent control 88 percent. as the late great george carlin famous. it's a big club and you ain't in it remember that the next time one of these professional liars politicians like us president donald trump starts tweeting madly about how great the stock market is doing you see that's actually 5 him paying fealty to his owners and let's start watching the hawks. on a cd. player so let's see this is joyce state . great city this least systemic dissent says so which. so. welcome everyone
7:34 am
watching the. world with her and i'm so measure wall street hey you know fresh out of the little ones tweets about wall street talk about our great wall street and how great is wall street to our great of the american people just love wall street and i think that your intro was right on point because we know what matter and it is wall street we know the people who invest in wall street aren't the people who are crying out for help on main street every day right now we also noticed that today the president has argued that he is not going to push for a co-pay 1000 really bill that package of money that americans were hoping to get so that they could pay their rent make sure that they could make their electric bills and all these other things it's just not coming so i think that you know we have a stronger recognition for those who already who cares about the most and it's not the everyday citizens it is those one percenters who actually are watching the stock that we day and you know they make their money yeah i mean look at a survey by the federal reserve this new survey showed that more than half of american families 53 percent were invested in the stock market as of the 2nd
7:35 am
quarter this year but that was mostly through not through really a lot of direct owners and that's mostly through retirement for a one k. things like that that's not people out earning money on the stock that's people. whose businesses or retirement plans through their businesses put their money to start work you're absolutely correct and today when you have a predominance of the american workforce that is doing the work that means that they are not only in most cases not full time employees and they don't have benefits they also don't have a 41 k. in existence this is it 203040 years ago where people were looking to that part of their retirement plans and there are a lot of folks today who don't know what those retirement plans are going to look like and are don't even have enough money in their savings to consider anything related to retire because the bottom half of all earners only one 3rd that's earners as people with a job actually were lucky enough to have only one 3rd are actually invested in any kind of equities or stocks compared to more than 90 percent and 90 percent of families in the top 10 percent of income basically the stock market is
7:36 am
a rich man's game and when you look at what how the pandemic has affected all of this yelp reports that the review site yelp reports that 60 percent of businesses have had to close during this pandemic small businesses and that are now permanently shut you're never going to get them back so guess what your big your big corporate people who got bailed out the most from congress and donald trump they're fine every other business struggling more than 60 percent and i think the best important thing to note because it shows what congress prioritize and that's an argument for both sides i mean i lean more on the liberal side of things when i think about this that is something that democrats could have a in the house controlled more than they did what we saw was that stimulus package money the money that was supposed to bail people out in large part went to corporations in it went to the state organizations it did not go to the small businesses which are the engines of not only american innovation but also employment for people across the globe and colors a big issue here you know in this in this country right now and when you look at
7:37 am
who really has money in wall street i'm sorry wall street is one of the whitest streets in america when you really break it down. the value of stockholm. american households was held by white families compared get this just 1.2 percent by black families. to 1.2 percent just point 5 percent of wall street is held by hispanic families that's a massive gap wall street is a wealthy white man's game and always has been it's almost like monopoly for theo the end of the day if you're somebody who is not in that range you're not a part of that power structure where you have a quarter of a $1000000.00 for the most part you are not watching stop daily you're not getting your investment you're not your investment portfolio isn't that your most americans are just worried about keeping food on the table making sure there are enough cover for the next month they are not as attentive to the stock market because the stock market doesn't necessarily affect their day to day work no it does not william
7:38 am
spriggs a professor of economics at howard university and the ceos chief economist of the basically said quote when the stock market goes up that exacerbates wealth inequality for blacks and for hispanics because they just don't own stocks and that's that's the honest to god truth and that's what's sad because we talk about wanting to get money into those communities stable real money into those groups but guess what this is interesting all that money that should be going to the people is going upwards as we know jeff bezos the big dogs little they're all just sucking up the wealth of this country but that's not just true for the u.s. that's around the world in fact a report out of scotland found that the richest 20 families have as much wealth as the bottom 30 percent about population this is a global issue that we need to start addressing now. another day another headline of an unarmed black man being murdered by a police officer though 31 year old jonathan price lost his life on saturday lou news coverage spoke of the murder until today because today officer sean lucas was
7:39 am
charged with murder of course the bents that actually happened so quickly considering in most cases it takes weeks or months for an officer to be arrested and charged after a fatal shooting. could this incident turn the tide let's dig deeper jonathan price was a pillar of his community a city employee a balance here and well known public servant price witnessed a fight at the local gas station and wolf that in texas between a woman and a man and he intervened price was attempting to diffuse the situation and reduce any potential harm to the woman and at some point a passer by presumably called law enforcement but by the time made a ride price had already defused the situation. price was truly a hero that likely prevented a complete stranger from suffering from domestic violence but when police arrived on the scene pryce was given anything but a hero's welcome by the camera footage showed police officer lucas tasing price even though there was no aggressive or threatening posture that would have
7:40 am
supported that level of force price was actually walking away when he was struck by a lecture wave of the stun gun and after that already unnecessary use of force the police officer then proceeded to shoot price in the back 3 times price was unarmed according to an official statement from the texas rangers with camera footage the rangers now say the preliminary investigation indicates quote the actions of officer lucas were not objectionably reasonable. officer lucas has since been arrested and charged with murder his bond is that for $1000000.00. wow wow wow wow that is the incredible like what we're looking at with this because it just it just boggles my mind it was happy to see that we might like you said we might i mean what do you think do you think that this is a turning point where violence some departments across this country are saying a rather than a long day at this hour rather than claim the like innocent you know we're going to
7:41 am
buy that we're actually going to charge them and wouldn't charge an officer with murder when they act over the line like this i think this case presents its own bit of differences from some of the other ones that we've seen 1st and foremost there is. somebody who is still who was there on the scene who also witnessed this happen the woman who actually got involved in engaging in disrupting that fight where it looked like she was being threatened by a male but the other thing that is very interesting here is that the texas rangers and the police officers have already you know the police force has already come out because they had to the video had already been released. showing that this man posed absolutely no threat not even for the stun gun much less him actually being shot in the back 3 times this was somebody who is technically a pillar of the community he had come in to try to stop a fight which is something we would expect or at least hope for if i am is just passing by and sees that a woman is being threatened but the interesting note i want to make here was that this is the type of hero conservative tried to make rittenhouse remember the young
7:42 am
man who decided he was going to take a gun and travel you know to a whole nother state. and wound up killing multiple people and conservatives talked about it is though he was somebody who was protecting his community and that wasn't even a community in this case this is where jonathan price was born and raised this is his place this is a place where he is known this is a place where he is respected he works for city government a place where all of his neighbors know who he is he saw something he decided to do something tried to intervene and wound up losing his life well. it's interesting when you really look like when you point out that this was somebody who you know is well if you put all the chalk marks that you know you see a lot of times and white media literacy like white kids or me you're like whoa this person was clearly you know a bad guys so somehow they deserved to get choked out or this person had a criminal record so somehow they deserved to get you know to get shot 6 times in the butt but as you pointed out this wasn't this guy so there's no excuse for this
7:43 am
but why is that somebody has to have this person record to actually see charges correctly brought against the police when records shouldn't even come into play it should be the actions of police well of by somebody you mean by. people you know exactly you know translation i think that part of that is how america sees black people specifically black men is always having to prove themselves innocent 1st and that's not something that you know that that happens when white men are involved in this type of thing so i think that in this case we're seeing quite frankly an expeditious process in him being charged this happened on saturday so just a few days later there are already charges he's already been arrested that is unheard of and police involved shootings it so i do think that that's a very important point to note i think it is a good point to note i mean i would hope that we're going to see. you know how many cases we see it even with body came forward and things like that roll over and over and over and over again where it's caused like you see the police union step in then everyone then let the gears of justice just stop and roll slowly it may be
7:44 am
this is the i hope it's a sign that later you know what will people shoot people who are unarmed who are trying to help people in our community that maybe we should actually hold cops accountable when they step over bounds like this absolutely and there is a facebook post that christ did just like 4 months ago that is now being brought to light making that it's important for our viewers to see that as well in the facebook post price that there were times i should have been detained for speeding outstanding 5 patients outdated registration dozing off at a red light before making it to my garage downtown dallas after a long night i passed a sobriety test after leaving a bar while in texas by 2 white cops and they still let me drive to where i was headed and by the way they consider wiley texas to be very racist i've never got that kind of energy from the popo not saying black lives no matter but don't forget about your own or your experiences the road and waking up. so it's coming to light
7:45 am
that. it seems that price wasn't necessarily somebody who was gung ho about to be a limb movement he himself had necessarily experienced a lot of police violence there. police interrogation the past and felt as though he was in a safe community so now it is even though these times clearly pointed out by him himself and in his own words he felt as though he was treated fairly by police officers or may have even gotten off from something that he might not have thought that he would have there still comes that point where you could lose your life you know there's always going to be that point where it's going to be a bit wrong and i hate to say that i had to say that but it's true it's like that that can be brought the point that up perfectly it's like hey you might not experience these kind of ills on a day to day basis that you hear other people talking about that your other people marching about but that doesn't mean i'm going to come around and affect you at some point absolutely and i think about something we all have to remember i think i couldn't agree with you more could not agree with you more all right everybody as we go to break remember that you can also start watching the hawks on demand

politics or business i'm show business i'll show you that. the u.s. supreme court is in the spotlight again and this time it has nothing to do with the controversial supreme court justice boys to feel the seat left vacant by the late justice ruth bader ginsburg nope this time the highest court in the land is making news for taking all one of america's favorite pastimes baseball. the supreme court recently been requests to dismiss a lawsuit that seeks to increase wages for minor league players this could be a watershed moment for wage parity but it doesn't come without hurdles here to tell us more is our team sports correspondent said you know how well the media. what
7:50 am
we're doing up this lawsuit by minor league baseball players was given the green light to go ahead and trial court even though the supreme court denied the request to take the case can you give us the cliff notes version about lawsuit it's pretty basic when you drill down to it mean it minor league baseball 2014 decided they weren't being paid enough and major league baseball said yes you are that's the nuts and bolts if you want to dig a little bit deeper into it they were getting paid less than $7500.00 a year to put that in perspective the poverty line in the u.s. is 12760 dollars a year and some of these statistics you see on salaries on the menu league baseball structure are shocking if you're a rookie or you're playing a short season $290.00 a month i think they spend that money on gas so players decided they needed to have a better advocate and to actually make a livable wage $20.00 actually snuck in a little bill and some federal legislative action that is called the save america's pastime act and what that did is argue that they were seasonal workers they did not
7:51 am
deserve to be paid a wage they would pay a yearly worker so this isn't a 6 year court battle to get some sort of wage parity and mannerly baseball is still fighting paying a livable wage to arguably its farm system or this is where your up and coming stars are coming out of and they're like you know what you're seasonal we don't pay a much that's the round of it it's interesting because you know we've heard over and over again these horror stories about how major league baseball is kind of shown their face with their inability to support their 4 teams and now you have this kind of attempt to subtly disregard fair pay for these players who aren't in the big leagues but could be called up or spend their entire career there the league wants to know. do you feel your teams from the minor leagues from basically small tone baseball is this common this shows a blatant middle finger disregard to your farm system which is essentially where you're getting every year your next crop of potential superstars or just players
7:52 am
absolutely if you look at the fact that minor league baseball and major league baseball they have their talks of falling apart to kind of form a new p.b.s. so essentially major league baseball it would take over everything and there are $160.00 farm team system it starts a single it goes up to aaa which is pretty much one step below the majors they would get rid of 40 teams now that is 40 teams with dozens of players personnel coaches staff that you're just telling you know what you don't care that you exist and the fact that you won't be these people need a livable wage even minimum wage in ny paying the minimum wage when your average major league baseball stars of like 2019 makes $4000000.00 you can barely pay them $15000.00 and yet you're like you know what let's tighten the belt let's tighten the belt let's tighten the belt and you're telling these players we don't care about you and even players on twitter sometimes joke like a life of a minor league or my kitchen is in my bedroom at my 9 $100.00 apartment that i have
7:53 am
maybe $50.00 or i left it's sad it's disgusting and these are suppose they are you know some are heroes yet we're like you know what you really don't matter. do you think kobe 1000 has an impact here is this lawsuit a result of 1000 in the economic stress of that and what impact or is there an impact this has on it and has this lawsuit been brewing for a while isn't brings us right 14 but i think over it exacerbated the issue you have the appalachian leave for example that is a 10 team squad oh environmentally baseball and major league baseball major league baseball says you know we're going to make you now not really part of this minor league system we're going to make you independent baseball which is so arguably very fun to watch but now they're saying you know you're going to be for the top $300.00. 40 collegiate players in a wood bat summer season so now they're even getting around paying them at the minor league a wage so koven is ravished minor league baseball it shut down the season didn't play one at all compared to major league baseball who played this year and
7:54 am
a lot of teams economically are going to suffer players like that play for the oakland athletics they were told they were going to get paid period not even a salary not even any sort of stipend for their season being canceled and you're going to see a lot of teams fold because of this and it's going to ravage the landscape of baseball and that's because a lot of the minor league teams are where a lot of you know they're in cities that don't see big major league clubs come in a lot of them and they're sometimes the only baseball the only entertainment for those communities nearby who can afford to go pay for the big time $1200.00 ticket to go see the major league team play what about other minor league teams get a little bit of time like the shell of the g. league in the n.b.a. are they facing similar issues or are they being treated as far as wage and all of this they seem to have a little bit more of an equal footing not exactly equal obviously these are still their developmental league but it's a little bit higher and livable then minor league players the gili they have an elite prospect contract extension and what that means you have to be 18 you play for 5 months guess how much you get paid $125000.00 here players that is beyond
7:55 am
a little i'll bet you don't even know for sure you know 2 for 3 at burger king. has a simple program you can't you know 18 you can't play in a junior hockey league but these players a lot of the go on to play in the n.h.l. they even go on to play at the olympics so you're seeing that these leagues invest in their minor leagues or l.b. is pretty much saying you know what fend for yourself all right well gee that thank you so much for coming on always a pleasure given the given us the sports update on what's happening there. all right as we mentioned earlier u.s. president donald trump is back in the white house a policeman walter reed medical center on monday night to much fanfare and showboating and while the brand name and she appears to be back in campaign. mode blasting controversial tweets and videos left and right front and center it appears the coburg 19 inventions led to the president and his inner circle continue to grow despite the president's cavalier attitude about group or to america's tradition as
7:56 am
the latest. fresh off his release from walter reed hospital president trump walked off marine one and off the stairs to the white house residence and then he did this and the president who was still contagious removed his mask and put it in this pocket and then saluted posing for pictures for a whole 2 minutes a white house staffer told her 1st standing right next to him even though he's supposed to be in isolation. just like this as police brutality and racial injustice protests continue across the country video capturing a black militia group called the f.a.a. see armed with assault rifles body armor and tactic gear marching through the streets of lafayette louisiana more than $400.00 armed demonstrators with the coalition seeking justice for trade ford pellerin a 31 year old black man who was fatally shot by lafayette police in august leaders for the group said that they also decided to go to the southern louisiana city
