10:00 am
it's a nail biting election night for the u.s. where the final result depends on several states and neither donald trump or joe biden have any plans of conceding. we believe we're on track to witness the watcher rangely we did with this. this is a fraud. on the american public. with everything still to play for the potential this could drag on for days yet even longer especially with trump threatening to take matters to the supreme court with the divisive election having already protests in several states remain a potential wider unrest as the wrangling continues.
10:01 am
hello there just gone 6 o'clock here in moscow you're watching r.t. international might be the morning after the election night before but the race for the white house is still on a knife edge and results hanging in the balance in a few key states that are yet to declare now within the last hour joe biden has taken the lead in michigan although the votes are still being counted we have to say in fact kind thing is not finished in several key states they are in great on this big map up here and a sea of red you might look at and think that trump has actually may have won this election that just indicates he's actually won more states but biden is actually more electoral votes at this stage which is of course what counts big. population
10:02 am
states like california for example did actually give him 55 votes and so far biden is 238 to trump's 213 with 270 the magic number needed for victory so let's bring in our u.s. correspondent maccallum orkin who joins us from new york areas a good evening kelleher let's just start with mitch again because we've heard over the last sort of hour or so that's now flipped in joe biden's favor everything to play for is just so close and when you see that happen in swing states too it's very difficult to call what's going to happen next. yes well the clock is ticking and votes are being counted wisconsin and michigan are the next expected results and many are looking on to the fact that there has been a big shift as the count continues in michigan and it seems that this point biden is in the lead now this is being credited to the fact that wayne county the part of
10:03 am
michigan the county in michigan where detroit is based their results came in very solidly for biden as the democratic party stronghold plus in addition to that many michiganders voted through the mail they stayed home because of the pandemic they voted through the mail so it's these mail in votes that are being counted now and they are coming in and it seems that while trump seemed to have a pretty solid lead before there has been a big shift as the mail in votes in the votes from wayne county seem to be putting putting biden ahead in michigan now donald trump is behind in wisconsin biden seems to be ahead in wisconsin but it's very very narrow we're expecting results from wisconsin and from michigan to be reported shortly and those will have a dramatic impact on the election results it's worth noting that in wisconsin where the results are very very close the libertarian party has taken over one percent of
10:04 am
the vote so far with 98 percent of the ballots counted showing that the libertarian party in the libertarian vote was somewhat decisive in wisconsin but we're waiting for official results from wisconsin and from michigan now another state that is contested is pennsylvania and it's contested and many of the ballots in pennsylvania have not been counted results in pennsylvania are expected to be delayed due to the fact that the postal facility and a number of postal facilities are being inspected on orders of the us federal court so the results in pennsylvania and. the determination of who receives their 20 electoral votes will remain remain unknown for quite some time as postal facilities are being inspected so at the moment things are looking good for biden but at this point it is still you know too soon to call it right there are a number of electoral votes that are still up for grabs both candidates have
10:05 am
a clear path to victory so at this point you really can't say many people predicted that the morning following the election in the united states it would not be clear who the winner was and despite what we've heard from both of the candidates at this point it just is not clear it's not clear who the winner is we heard the words from donald trump about the potential for a court case and legal actions. so at this point it's just not clear now in the voting around the country and local races there have been some interesting results so we did see that mississippi voted to get rid of its confederate flag on its flag a state flag that is modeled on the flag of the confederacy and from the civil war they voted overwhelmingly to get rid of it also the state of oregon the u.s. state of oregon voted to legalize both heroin and cocaine so it is now legal in the state of oregon to use heroin and cocaine as a result of the voting that has taken place so some dramatic results in local races
10:06 am
but at this point we still don't know who will be holding the presidency for the next 4 years that we've heard what both major candidates have said we're looking at the results coming soon hopefully from wisconsin and michigan pennsylvania will have delayed results nevada is also going to have delayed results so much of the public is just watching and waiting. so we can do isn't it thanks calaveras county in new york. well as we heard neither don't trust nor joe biden seemed to be willing to concede at this point biden says he's on course victory told supporters he's already won only emphasizing the current divisions in society when i discuss the political climate there with. all this waiting all this counting all this tallying it is it's struggling things out so you have hundreds of thousands of people out alkan the streets in small protest appearing disappearing all of the
10:07 am
country you have you have violence you have none of the cab that. neither candidate has any cause to concede since who both of them are now claiming the e.u. and telling their supporters that we're going to win this and considering how out frayed have bizarre how little patience there is lift among the public how both sides are more and more confident that their guy has what you do this this isn't doing anyone and this this isn't doing america this is doing a lot of damage to the country that is already divided and both candidates saying they have cause to believe they think that they're going to win this. night we believe we're on track to win a selection we're going to win this thank you thank you thank you. we were getting ready to win this election frankly we did win this.
10:08 am
we will win this and. we already. and also as far as he can see he is concerned because well be a very lengthy legal challenge to any result well look there were many scenarios that looked at the lead up to the election the polls the polls were wrong i mean they had a blowout biden victory obviously with florida especially trump clinton that that went out the window right out the window so what we were left with was a bunch of worst case scenarios one of them so if either candidate at what outright you know it would have been done and over now that could have contested. it but if the election would have been done sort of we have a situation where both sides are now claiming victory and there is this wait this wait is as i said it isn't doing america the fabric of american society any fare
10:09 am
any favors all the ugly all the violence or all the dirt all the bitterness it is now coming out you know people's nerves people's nerves the good to be insulted i'm surprised there hasn't been more of what we've seen so far the candidates now the latest biden saying that he'll challenge any any tribe a lawsuit to the supreme court you know this is a game where psychological game where they're trying to threaten the other side leave themselves open to a lot of options going into the future if it's too close if it's too close to force a recount to delay to challenge any potential ruling. we want the law to be used in a proper manner so we'll be going to the u.s. supreme court we want all voting just. we don't want them to find any ballots at 4 o'clock in the morning and add them to the list ok. the
10:10 am
president's statement trying to shut down counting of julie calls ballots was outrageous unprecedented and incorrect a naked effort to take away democratic rights never before has a president's will to strip americans of their voice it will not happen counting will continue until every duty cost vote is counted. we've seen the tension have me on the streets just in the last few hours for people stabbed outside the white house well exactly across america still over not prove this note as large as you would expect during the day but you know as i said people who support biden people who support trouble they're out in the streets and they believe that their cabinet is the one that should be in the white house and this there's very little middle ground that america today is divided likely ever before in living memory in living memory the v.v. that they have so many differences and soon a little to agree on the direction the united states look at the black lives prove
10:11 am
the blood back to its mouth that bill of protest over the summer that they could then continuing now by the way b.l.m. jobs being heard in american cities for people stabbed outside the white house and they're still counting looks and magic what potentially could happen if you can do that you know a disagreeable cabinet what the problem is everybody believes that their net favorite candidate should be in the white house and there is there is no acceptance new recognition of the other sides of pity and this is what we've seen throughout the entirety of the summer protests and violence and where you know dialogue fails it's all that's left.
10:12 am
and this is where we we're at now with the waiting the waiting in
10:13 am
a situation election where each side is willing to take it out that they're trying to get their nerves physically on their opponents on people wearing different you know different colored hats with with different names written on their t. shirts and this is why the situation is so dangerous america is polarized like never before with silly little middle ground with so little overlap and the believes and the interests of both sides america is changing it is evolving at a breakneck speed we see this in the way that people have voted against all polls against all predictions we see that america their 'd values people's values people's ideology it is changing and evolving and as my colleague donald. reports you know there's this new predicting which way this will go. it was all
10:14 am
high hopes and big promises back in 2016 when donald trump took his place in the white house the nation was already divided by race gender class you name it and the country needed a hero now it's time for america to bind a division have to get together. republicans and democrats and independents across this nation i say it is time for us to come together as one united people turned out trump never came to be that knight in shining armor. for. 20 twentieth's presidential election seasons looks more like an all out war on the streets more than anything mishandling of the pandemic response and the economic crisis but most significant was the brutal killing of george floyd that sparked
10:15 am
outrage across the nation and even calls to de-fund the police all together. and instead of trying to unite people america's dividing lines became part of both parties political strategies on the one hand bite and then the democrats sold themselves as allies of the so-called peaceful protests wets let's be honest we're not so peaceful problems in this. peacefully protest. not a bad way to dip your toes into the more radical left and black voter pool. but on the other hand you have trump who decided to play the tough guy calling anti racism
10:16 am
protesters vandals and anarchists trump sent federal troops to put down uprisings in cities a move that one support from a number of police unions and people who didn't want to see their white picket fence neighborhoods ruined now the law and order doctrine also embolden some of trump's more radical supporters so that seeing armed right wing militias and anti for freely walking around the streets of american cities became a new reality and one of both candidates done to fix all this point the finger it is what it is is the raese what's going on and he doesn't want to see a lone order because he can't because you lose his radical left supporters proud about stand back and stand by but i'll tell you what i'll tell you what somebody has got to do something about the left because this is not a right as we know is a direct this is. not what it's about this is the radical left would you she wasn't raised on both sides of the political spectrum we've got armed groups white
10:17 am
nationalists proud boys right wing militias and a whole bunch so what exactly will happen when the election is over well everyone just sit down and decide to accept the results. ok well let's get these now i don't you're not mcadams from the ron paul ince he joins us. good evening dan it's so close to call isn't it this presidential race what are your feelings. well my gut feelings were a little different i spent a lot of years as an election observer and i think the process in the us if i were observing it somewhere overseas i would say it was a deeply flawed process i would say the results should be brought into question by the way the process is done. the idea that you go to bed in the middle of the night they stopped counting the votes in several key states mysteriously stopped counting the vote and then all of a sudden particularly in wisconsin and michigan all of us a nature huge chunk of votes over 100000 in each state show up and 100 percent of
10:18 am
them go to biden this stinks to high heaven and i'm not a trump supporter but i'm telling you as an election observer something very very fishy is going on do you think they're all very very strong brands then to take legal action him and put this in front of coast and perhaps the sheep raincoats well certainly there is you have to fight for everyone's vote i thought that's what everyone was saying of course it's different when the other guys getting the vote but the problem is the whole system has failed the idea that you start voting weeks in advance that you may allow ballots to everyone these are classic classic classic things that come up when you're looking at an election that's not conducted properly the u.s. should have a vote on the day of voting it should end at a certain time there should be a specific chain of custody for the ballots you don't see any of that that's all we wrote it up over the last 4 years i suspect the people who made up rusty gate the people who were counting coronavirus are the same people who are counting the votes right now. i mean the argument is isn't it coronavirus many people would be
10:19 am
concerned about turning up to polling booths and they're full of postals i t's is a kind that's what many people have done. g.c. that is a fair argument as usual point just the white house system and as you say that the chain of custody except for a lead to the printed piece. of course it is i mean we've been told for months the mirror wearing masks work and social distancing work so if that's the case you put on a mask and go what's the big deal if you have a specific reason that there are people that have been specific reason you've always been able to get a mail in vote if there's something wrong if you're disabled if you can't get around what have you but you don't you would never have these hundreds of thousands of votes floating around in the ether for anyone to manipulate this is huge huge red flag that it wouldn't matter if it was it was flipped in biden was the one on the losing at this point it is still a structural problem with the u.s. voting system just waiting. than just me talking to biden or at least his
10:20 am
campaign is nigh saying that i have won wisconsin michigan to get a tight that is well in the bodagh if that's the case does that wrap up victory by now because there is the issue of the $100000.00 plus votes in michigan and wisconsin overnight where did they come from why did they all go to biden the big question 100 percent of them went to biden at least according to what people from politico and elsewhere are reporting so it's a big question i don't think it ends it at all i think we need to figure out what happened and why they say we're going to stop counting the votes will wait till morning maybe we will maybe we'll find some provide you know this is this is a bad process and as your as your previous correspondent points out the image image is the process the legitimize it's whoever wins the presidency and it certainly doesn't put us in a in a great spot and it will get absolutely stipes a lot of tension doesn't it i mean on the street i think was it yesterday we still full people stop that side the white house how concerned are you that this could turn violent on the streets. well the drunk winds that will turn by that we've seen
10:21 am
the radical leftists are the ones that are rioting you don't see anyone writing on the right truck managed to win this the radical left will start right in the car burning the cities down again as they did in august though there's no question about it we've already established thing i read in the new york post one of the persons from behind was the leader of the problem which is the conservative right wing group would want to call it so yeah there will be rioting if they don't get their way this is a this is what happens in of and out of republican this is what we've become in the united states dang good to talk she we have to leave it at that mcadams executive director. thanks he time this evening. and with much of the world anxiously looking on that's especially the case in the middle east where overwhelming support for israel has divided the region more than ever before we can get reaction to all of this and the view from that part of the world now with

mccain abu sada he's a palestinian political analyst thank you very much for coming on to our seat what do you all thought gee you think another 4 years of donald trump would be good for the middle east. well it depends on who you are talking to if you are talking to the gulf countries mainly saudi arabia united arab emirates egypt definitely these middle eastern countries would like to see trump in the white house for another 4 years for a simple reason one thing is that these gulf countries see iran as the number one threat to their national security and they've believed that the republican doing on time would do a much better job in confronting iran and its. proxies in the region and 2nd that we all know that the u.s. on the presidency of donald trump went after qassam soleimani the head of our could
10:23 am
sprigg aid in the iranian revolutionary guard but if you are asking the palestinian leadership the palestinian people they would definitely like to see joe biden the definitely would like do not like to see donald trump again in the white house on the presidency for one simple reason the do not trump dean of the century is a way to try to leak with date the palestinian cause and liquidate palestinian rights by giving israel a green light to a nix of about 30 percent of the palestinian west bank and also. liquidating the palestinian leadership in which a number of u.s. officials have indicated lately that the palestinian people deserve a much better leadership from the current palestinian leadership so the region is divided on. as i mentioned to you that something that the republican donors from
10:24 am
and others like the palestinians who favor joe biden who has promised to continue funding of the palestinian authority and the uan agency on. that was for the relief of palestinian refugees and he also joe biden also promised to reopen the palestinian representative office in washington d.c. again which was closed by the drum by administration if i'm right in thinking he also said that he would he wouldn't necessarily move the u.s. embassy back to tell of eve i think he said he would keep it in jerusalem with that be an issue or am i wrong. well i find it difficult for the candid did joe biden to bring back the u.s. embassy from jerusalem to tel aviv for 2 or things one is that the decision to recognize do most of them as the cover television was
10:25 am
a resolution passed by both houses in the u.s. congress in 1905 and all u.s. presidents from that time from bill clinton until barak obama they very much from those than suspended the implementation of the u.s. congress of moving the embassy from tel aviv to jerusalem but it was trumbull made a promise to during his $1.00 to $16.00 election campaign to recognize to save them and to move the embassy from tel aviv to jerusalem now i find it difficult for joe biden to. to go against the u.s. congress and 2nd we all know that there is a very strong and vibrant jewish lobby in washington who would be definitely against any bringing back of the u.s. embassy from jerusalem to tel aviv so i think this thing is all the and the palestinians also understand that it won't happen again at the u.s.
10:26 am
embassy would be to look at it again back to tel aviv and it's not only the u.s. so we all know that a number of. cabot a number of countries of also look at that their embassies from tel aviv to jerusalem after the u.s. has done so and just finally will be t.c.'s the the most important in the middle east at the moment regardless of who wins the white house. well i it seems to me that the middle east must rethink their position is aware from who wins the presidency in the white house without it's the democrats or the republicans i believe that the leaders of the middle is should work together. to confront the issues of poverty unemployment political stalemate in their countries as a result of. political instability but unfortunately many of the
10:27 am
middle east leaders are hanging their future on the on who wins the white house or who is going to win the us presidency also the scent think can be said about the palestinians doesn't matter who won the presidency without its donuts on board joe biden i think the palestinians must reorganize their internal house put them into their internal division distort palestinian national unity in order for them to confront israeli occupation and settlement expansion and also to stand in the face of the us when it comes to the implementation of the term deed of the century which as i mentioned is going to give up around 50 percent of the palestinian territory to israel which is located in the jordan valley and other settlements across the west bank ok well we appreciate your thoughts nor have they
