it's a nail biting election night for the u.s. where the final result depends on several states and neither donald trump or joe biden have any plans of conceding. we believe we're on track to witness the watcher rangely we did with this. this is a fraud. on the american public. with everything still to play for the potential this could drag on for days yet even longer especially with trump threatening to take matters to the supreme court with the divisive election having already protests in several states remain a potential wider unrest as the wrangling continues.

hello there just gone 6 o'clock here in moscow you're watching r.t. international might be the morning after the election night before but the race for the white house is still on a knife edge and results hanging in the balance in a few key states that are yet to declare now within the last hour joe biden has taken the lead in michigan although the votes are still being counted we have to say in fact kind thing is not finished in several key states they are in great on this big map up here and a sea of red you might look at and think that trump has actually may have won this election that just indicates he's actually won more states but biden is actually more electoral votes at this stage which is of course what counts big. population

states like california for example did actually give him 55 votes and so far biden is 238 to trump's 213 with 270 the magic number needed for victory so let's bring in our u.s. correspondent maccallum orkin who joins us from new york areas a good evening kelleher let's just start with mitch again because we've heard over the last sort of hour or so that's now flipped in joe biden's favor everything to play for is just so close and when you see that happen in swing states too it's very difficult to call what's going to happen next. yes well the clock is ticking and votes are being counted wisconsin and michigan are the next expected results and many are looking on to the fact that there has been a big shift as the count continues in michigan and it seems that this point biden is in the lead now this is being credited to the fact that wayne county the part of

michigan the county in michigan where detroit is based their results came in very solidly for biden as the democratic party stronghold plus in addition to that many michiganders voted through the mail they stayed home because of the pandemic they voted through the mail so it's these mail in votes that are being counted now and they are coming in and it seems that while trump seemed to have a pretty solid lead before there has been a big shift as the mail in votes in the votes from wayne county seem to be putting putting biden ahead in michigan now donald trump is behind in wisconsin biden seems to be ahead in wisconsin but it's very very narrow we're expecting results from wisconsin and from michigan to be reported shortly and those will have a dramatic impact on the election results it's worth noting that in wisconsin where the results are very very close the libertarian party has taken over one percent of

the vote so far with 98 percent of the ballots counted showing that the libertarian party in the libertarian vote was somewhat decisive in wisconsin but we're waiting for official results from wisconsin and from michigan now another state that is contested is pennsylvania and it's contested and many of the ballots in pennsylvania have not been counted results in pennsylvania are expected to be delayed due to the fact that the postal facility and a number of postal facilities are being inspected on orders of the us federal court so the results in pennsylvania and. the determination of who receives their 20 electoral votes will remain remain unknown for quite some time as postal facilities are being inspected so at the moment things are looking good for biden but at this point it is still you know too soon to call it right there are a number of electoral votes that are still up for grabs both candidates have

a clear path to victory so at this point you really can't say many people predicted that the morning following the election in the united states it would not be clear who the winner was and despite what we've heard from both of the candidates at this point it just is not clear it's not clear who the winner is we heard the words from donald trump about the potential for a court case and legal actions. so at this point it's just not clear now in the voting around the country and local races there have been some interesting results so we did see that mississippi voted to get rid of its confederate flag on its flag a state flag that is modeled on the flag of the confederacy and from the civil war they voted overwhelmingly to get rid of it also the state of oregon the u.s. state of oregon voted to legalize both heroin and cocaine so it is now legal in the state of oregon to use heroin and cocaine as a result of the voting that has taken place so some dramatic results in local races

but at this point we still don't know who will be holding the presidency for the next 4 years that we've heard what both major candidates have said we're looking at the results coming soon hopefully from wisconsin and michigan pennsylvania will have delayed results nevada is also going to have delayed results so much of the public is just watching and waiting. so we can do isn't it thanks calaveras county in new york. well as we heard neither don't trust nor joe biden seemed to be willing to concede at this point biden says he's on course victory told supporters he's already won only emphasizing the current divisions in society when i discuss the political climate there with. all this waiting all this counting all this tallying it is it's struggling things out so you have hundreds of thousands of people out alkan the streets in small protest appearing disappearing all of the

country you have you have violence you have none of the cab that. neither candidate has any cause to concede since who both of them are now claiming the e.u. and telling their supporters that we're going to win this and considering how out frayed have bizarre how little patience there is lift among the public how both sides are more and more confident that their guy has what you do this this isn't doing anyone and this this isn't doing america this is doing a lot of damage to the country that is already divided and both candidates saying they have cause to believe they think that they're going to win this. night we believe we're on track to win a selection we're going to win this thank you thank you thank you. we were getting ready to win this election frankly we did win this.

we will win this and. we already. and also as far as he can see he is concerned because well be a very lengthy legal challenge to any result well look there were many scenarios that looked at the lead up to the election the polls the polls were wrong i mean they had a blowout biden victory obviously with florida especially trump clinton that that went out the window right out the window so what we were left with was a bunch of worst case scenarios one of them so if either candidate at what outright you know it would have been done and over now that could have contested. it but if the election would have been done sort of we have a situation where both sides are now claiming victory and there is this wait this wait is as i said it isn't doing america the fabric of american society any fare

any favors all the ugly all the violence or all the dirt all the bitterness it is now coming out you know people's nerves people's nerves the good to be insulted i'm surprised there hasn't been more of what we've seen so far the candidates now the latest biden saying that he'll challenge any any tribe a lawsuit to the supreme court you know this is a game where psychological game where they're trying to threaten the other side leave themselves open to a lot of options going into the future if it's too close if it's too close to force a recount to delay to challenge any potential ruling. we want the law to be used in a proper manner so we'll be going to the u.s. supreme court we want all voting just. we don't want them to find any ballots at 4 o'clock in the morning and add them to the list ok. the

president's statement trying to shut down counting of julie calls ballots was outrageous unprecedented and incorrect a naked effort to take away democratic rights never before has a president's will to strip americans of their voice it will not happen counting will continue until every duty cost vote is counted. we've seen the tension have me on the streets just in the last few hours for people stabbed outside the white house well exactly across america still over not prove this note as large as you would expect during the day but you know as i said people who support biden people who support trouble they're out in the streets and they believe that their cabinet is the one that should be in the white house and this there's very little middle ground that america today is divided likely ever before in living memory in living memory the v.v. that they have so many differences and soon a little to agree on the direction the united states look at the black lives prove

them go to biden this stinks to high heaven and i'm not a trump supporter but i'm telling you as an election observer something very very fishy is going on do you think they're all very very strong brands then to take legal action him and put this in front of coast and perhaps the sheep raincoats well certainly there is you have to fight for everyone's vote i thought that's what everyone was saying of course it's different when the other guys getting the vote but the problem is the whole system has failed the idea that you start voting weeks in advance that you may allow ballots to everyone these are classic classic classic things that come up when you're looking at an election that's not conducted properly the u.s. should have a vote on the day of voting it should end at a certain time there should be a specific chain of custody for the ballots you don't see any of that that's all we wrote it up over the last 4 years i suspect the people who made up rusty gate the people who were counting coronavirus are the same people who are counting the votes right now. i mean the argument is isn't it coronavirus many people would be
