in. the. projections put joe biden in the white house as the 46 us president was the key state of pennsylvania to all of its vote count vice president elect comma harris described the win now it's not just to follow us she sounds congratulations. believe we did. here give you the biggest president of the united states. donald trump declared victory for himself in this action that could still be a whisper about the republicans which will suit so very late in postville products but biden. on the fallout from election night in america creates division we have from new yorkers as plain as
3:01 pm
a floor to the nose of the us democrat success. old mr woodward you know. you've got to put it to people we trust is a direct threat to our looked up by the sea trump he's trying to find out what he's fighting for because to be some kind of drones in this country and it's been no accident season that seemingly deep and direct intervention of us society has both bite and i'm trying to support this continue to rally what across the country. how do i welcome top international detail of this my calling don't quote son it's saturday the 7th of november it's now 4 days since the u.s.
3:02 pm
election and that looks like we might finally have a result a number of media are projecting that joe biden has been elected the 46th president of america having secured 290 editorial college votes just a reminder to 70 i need to for victory the. piece when in his state of pennsylvania was pushed to help push him across a threshold donald trump meanwhile stands at 240. now we cross live to our new york correspondent artie's caleb mop and caleb what are the details coming out of pennsylvania this is a really a huge moment for joe biden isn't it well joe biden is being universally declared the media's winner he is the winner in u.s. media because of the fact that in pennsylvania as the vote count continues the doesn't seem to be any way that donald trump could pull ahead seems like the vote in pennsylvania is overwhelmingly in biden's favor it's pretty narrow but there's no way that donald trump could pull off a little lead in pennsylvania or
3:03 pm
a win in pennsylvania so biden is being declared to be the winner and biden has declared victory this is what we heard from the biden campaign. america i'm on it that you've chosen me to lead a great country the work ahead of us will be hard but i promise you this i will be a president for all americans whether you voted for me or not i will keep the faith that you have placed in me now michelle and barack obama have congratulated joe biden on his victory in the election and we also have this interesting video that has been released by the biden campaign of the vice president elect kamel harris informing joe biden that they were victorious this video was released. 2 believed believed. here given the next president of the united states. but donald trump does not
3:04 pm
accept these results a few hours before joe biden declared victory donald trump was on twitter saying that he won and by a lot and we heard on thursday evening donald trump come out and go over various allegations of fraud the allegations of fraud seem to revolve around this concept of ballot dumping and the argument is that the votes that came in late to be in the mail writing mail in ballots were too overwhelmingly in biden's favor that some kind of malfeasance or or in the ferias activity is going on with late ballots that were from the mail about that is the allegation and the tramp camp has been very clear that they intend to legally challenge mail in ballots and the vote counting process in a number of states here's what we've heard from the trunk campaign. we don't know why joe biden is rushing to full sleep poses the we know and why he's meeting and lawyers are trying to help him they don't want the truth to be exposed so that
3:05 pm
despite the fact that joe biden has declared victory and is being considered to be the winner by u.s. media overwhelmingly it's pretty clear the white house does not agree with that there will be legal challenges and even though we have a projected winner in the election it's pretty clear that the election itself and the controversy surrounding it is not yet over there is going to be legal challenges there's going to be battles today is saturday the election was on tuesday and it's still not fully clear who is going to be president of the united states for the following 4 years. are to scale up and thank you very much for those election updates. well done in terms possible aborigine ani has stressed the allegations of fraud wealthy via an action and up in the courts. the celibacy will be brought starting on monday. but the 1st time it was discovered was here in

pennsylvania just a couple of days ago. the good we just see behind me are just a few of about. i'd say 50 to 60 poll watchers. all testified that they were uniformly deprived of their right to expect getting single part of the mail in ballots. as you know from the very beginning the mail in ballots were the source of some degree of skepticism if not a lot of skepticism as being at a very prone to fraud well that's been the election season the seeming deepen the already existing with sound to face in a few a society that to count her out in the hundreds of force and fighting on trumped right now will cross the country the crowds gathering in washington d.c. you'll find itself and other men just witness to delays on claims of thank you for what happening to the rest and raised questions about the u.s.
3:07 pm
democratic system so we decided to go out into the big apple get some reaction. because the whole mess go annoy you know. you got to do what benefit if the food the american people you know just what the best for the american people and what the right person to sit in a sea that's going to do good for the seafood of america that dish us is a direct threat to i would get my full sea to our freedom and to up everything that we live for and everything everybody went through and this country so i think he's already proven himself to be a threat to democracy my hope is that we can get past. this all the hysterics of the last 4 years and start moving forward as a country there's no fall out at this point even though he's going to see lawsuits which is probably going to delay the presidency from he's trying to time he needs to find. that's what he's fighting for because there is some kind of fronts in this country so we need to make sure to stay with us. for. my whole point.
3:08 pm
where we're reminded people have freedom job. maybe care and they can be free to be whoever they want to. you know i think it's actually quite important to pick up on what some of these new yorkers were saying i mean a lot of me just saying quoting trump the conspiracy theories that are unfounded claims and it was very well might be the case but i still i think we can ignore the elephant in the room because at the end of the day we've got a really unusual situation he's claiming that election fraud is the base from which he's going to contest this election i mean that happened some details coming in that would seem to support that maybe this isn't completely ridiculous what do you think right absolutely i mean all experts know that in the united states mail in ballots typically favor the democratic party favor more liberal voters and also donald trump for a long time even before this election has been talking about the possibility of these you know irregularities with these mail in votes happening but that of course
3:09 pm
alone doesn't mean that there was some sort of fraudulent activity going on but of course there are some stranger of irregularities that it would be good to see evidence for for example the fact that there were mail in ballots that kind of popped up out of nowhere after the ballots closed so we heard from rudy giuliani several times he said there's really no way to verify where these mail in ballots are coming from they could be from the moon they could be from mars who knows and on top of that it's true i mean republicans weren't allowed to observe that process so certainly something potentially fishy going on but how would we know well 70000000 people who voted for tarp with certain probably like a nice to have the issue discussed at least it can be put to bed and we could move on rather than the next 4 years of a potential vice presidency being you know saying that i actually didn't get the mandate it's not true it's not my president but it is not suitable so. about the system itself the editorial called because a lot of people have said that i mean is it time to reform it it doesn't
3:10 pm
necessarily want that won't i mean you're an american you know right outside of the us gets it so why don't you tell us about it law i would say in my personal opinion an integral part as to why the country is so divided right now and why it's basically split right down the middle i mean the electoral college is based on the principle of winner takes all so when half of the country or even in a state half the state votes for one candidate and 49 percent votes for one candidate 51 percent for the other that 49 percent essentially doesn't have their voice heard the entire electoral college votes for that state of course aside from nebraska and maine goes to the 51 percent candidate and you know now we're seeing protests in the street from both sides violence taking place just a few days ago people were stabbed in front of the white house the white house even erected a fence because of it and i think the fact that most of americans you know 49 percent of americans basically are not having their voice heard and that contributes to that anger that spills on the streets well 2nd was saying protests
3:11 pm
in atlanta georgia you know it's really tight race that recounting that saying this isn't over you know people are afraid to provide don't celebrate too soon because we're going to fight the good fight all presidents a fight to say we're going to keep going one thing i also think we do need to talk about is that. even if i can get through a great and deep becomes the 46 president he is not going to have an easy run of that because but i want to count that looks like the republicans will keep hold of the senate right they've they've been picked up a couple of seats in the house but it looks like they'll stick on that's going to be a senate runoff in georgia and john you if i'm not mistaken right now my somewhat difficult for him right right i want to bring the discussion there as well because the democrats have been saying that a blue wave was going to sweep through the house of representatives and actually the opposite happened the democrats of course still maintain a majority there although by. a thinner margin than they had under the trump president. and yeah as you said it's looking like the republicans are going to have a majority in senate which means if the president wants to pass certain laws you
3:12 pm
know that's going to be an obstruction unless there's some serious bipartisan discussions and negotiating going on there i mean really everything that's related to the economy economy so increasing taxes which is something that campaigned on a platform of it's actually what a lot of people found they had an issue with when they went to his right is they said well i don't know 46 percent tax wise it seems like quite a lot you know and he would be able to pass out through the so-called lame duck president which is what the bomber was. and i think it's safe to assume that biden will probably try to expend thing programs like obamacare i mean the campaign also mentioned the possibility of leaving some sort of student debt on a national scale these things are going to be hard to do without the support of the senate even if he doesn't get all of the democrats in the house behind him will also be difficult given it's going to be difficult is going to be even more difficult after this election cycle because that we talked about the station within within society out on the streets right to the people who voted for trump and
3:13 pm
against him but the transfers into you know on to capitol hill as well so i think it will be it will be a tough couple if he is. absolutely a very regular election while i think we should bring in our gas gerald horne who's an old historian for this gerald where is he. with figuring out how to tell you i haven't found you. well 1st of all let's talk about. let's talk about actually how the u.s. media right because before they were talking a lot about division and how society was so polarized now suddenly come in he's talking about unity and how he's going to rip heal the soul i think he said of america it was such a quick change in tone but would it be so quick in practice. it's difficult to say keep in mind that mr trump will be in office for 70 plus more days and he is not known to be a good loser and you will expect that there will be stiff challenges not only in
3:14 pm
the court's been in the streets recall his positive words about these new facets of groups like the crowd voice for example there are others like the oath keepers the 3 percent of the boogaloo born etc we witness the spectacle of men with white flowers and guns and voting sites is votes are being counted in detroit and you almost had a replay of what happened in 2000 and south florida that is to say the storming. republicans of the voting site so what will your seatbelts this next 70 days is going to be quite bumpy. while gerald yeah that leads me into another question i wanted to ask you i mean the vote came out basically half and half of the country voting for trump voting for biden what kind of you know if any violence is going to come out of this bigger than already what we're seeing on the streets. well it's
3:15 pm
hard to say it's difficult to say certainly think that the deep dark secret us politics is that not only is that not enough for the democrats to win a majority they routinely lose the white and that's like being in israel and trying to push through legislation and you don't have a majority of the stuarts keep in mind that israel is about 15 to 20 percent error and given that and given the fact that the truck coalition they feel that they are the descendants of the original settlers who built this country and they feel that gives them a leg up with regard to the future. and so i don't think that they will necessarily retard useful and we thought in year 2000 mr bush the republicans brought that lawsuit claiming a denial of equal protection because in florida votes in one county were counted this way votes in another county were counted that way we thought that was
3:16 pm
a relief from us but it turns out that the supreme court bought it and in january 2000 more mr bush was inaugurated i'm not saying that we're going to have a replay of history but at the same time it would be naive to act as if everything's will now go smoothly in light of the fact that the mass media has proclaimed that mr biden was the winner but i want to pick up on that as we were talking about how the republicans are missing some white votes as white trump actually surprised a lot of people this time by picking up quite a lot of people from the black community on the tino's as well will say that any republican in 60 years why do you think that is and do you think that that is a sign that maybe the republican party is changing it is becoming i was trying to set the force of kind of the average possum in the waca and it could. change its historic image what do you think. well like to see their policies change
3:17 pm
republicans according to senator just foley of missouri who will be running for president in 2024 he announced on twitter that the republicans are now the quote working class party and so i look forward to the republicans introducing labor law reform in the congress to make it easier to organize trade unions that would be appropriate for soco working class party i look to them repealing the truck tax cuts of 2017 which benefit disproportionately millionaires and billionaires and maybe have tax reform that goes into the pockets of more workers but don't hold your breath with that with regard to the so called minority both republicans that you have to dissect it and so forth the republicans were quite effective in appealing to voters of cuban origin in its way to an origin colombian origin nicaraguan origin who were fleeing their homelands because of the reality or fear of revolutionary change they made very effective advertising in that respect in spanish language media for example with regard to the black vote that's
3:18 pm
a bit more complicated. that is to say that at the end of the day about 85 percent of the black americans voted against mr trump and if you have 85 percent of any other sector of the electorate voting in that way this election would have been a blowout having step that there is a real fear in the black community that this $70000000.00 plus vote for trump augur something very dark and dangerous and i think it's fair to say that many black americans feel that they should cut a deal with the right wing so that they won't be on the wrong side of the fence in case some sort of neo fascist surge rises. well i was really actually it will be interesting to see of course how any policies change and whether in fact the parties themselves change you know when light of trumpets is such an unusual counter that that would have been lost mark on the republican party that was gerald horne all thought historian back so much for speaking to us today. thank you
3:19 pm
well you're watching out international we'll be back in just a moment with all the very latest check back in. anybody who thinks that because i just won the election we are problems are over that i'm simply not sure the problems we're there for president trump they're not going away you have problems with the economy in the long run you're going to have to pay for the things you're going to do we still have
3:20 pm
a problem in the united states which raises too many young are going to. jails are going possessions or some of those problems are. simply allotted and don't produce not does not solve them. so what we've got to do is identify the threats that we have it's crazy. let it be an arms race. be any dramatic developments only personally i'm going to resist i don't see how that strategy will be successful very. time to sit down and talk. and. i. think.
3:21 pm
welcome back to the way of a time now we've been going out for hours not what i think is a lot we can talk about i think one thing obviously we know that the u.s. is such a big force in the wild it is global player. its military on to the daughter of course how do you think the u.s. nations in terms of international policy could change with biden well it's an interesting topic to discuss because i would say like 2030 years ago traditionally in american discourse the democrats were considered a little bit less willing to use the military in disputes and the republicans a little bit more but now it doesn't seem like it's so black and white because for example under obama's administration we saw the libyan government overthrown under moammar gadhafi we saw drone strikes all over the place in yemen iraq pakistan
3:22 pm
somalia and trump actually part of his platform when he won in 2016 was ending america's and lismore pulling troops out of syria i mean when and when he was president one of his main projects was to make nato countries pay for their own contributions to the international military alliance because i mean let's be honest the united states has been footing the vast majority of the bill and it's the biggest contributor to that so when but when biden comes to power it's going to be interesting to see maybe we'll see a return to the kind of policies that obama pursued when biden was vice president of that administration or maybe we'll see something different we already heard biden say that he's not going to get along very well with saudi arabia if he becomes president and they can and they continue their war with yemen so perhaps we're looking at something a little bit more middle of the road you know what many are saying that it might very well be a continuation of what was happening on. trumpeted office such
3:23 pm
a different perspective when really he went out and he said this is all about america you know we've got to stop getting into this what's new is that everybody's going to stop getting into. he's expensive who is going to bring back time when he really has massively limited on the ground in iraq and afghanistan and that's why he was overwhelmingly supported by the military of course you know they quite rightly say the job is not actually. to defend that country you know i also think one thing that we could really quickly talk about is climate change you know the 2 have every differing stone says you know on how they envisage the environment let's not forget you know trump's out that saying that climate change is a hoax. that he as a result he pulled out of the 2015 climate and. he is an opponent of the green new deal an opponent of the green new deal which of course fights and has pushed for one to which is cool some. from such an american voters who worry that it's maybe
3:24 pm
a bit more progressive than they would have liked it's maybe a bit more expensive than they'd have liked let's not forget also trunk mass if you want to the rust belt you know back in 26 because he went out and said i'm going to protect you livelihoods and a lot of people who want our oil in the fracking industry you know look at pennsylvania over 300000 jobs fracking right he. kept bring back the keystone into this pipeline again keeping american jobs so it'll be very interesting to see how those industries will maybe be brought back they'll be slimmed down on that idea yeah exactly that's what also ties in to work from statement that he made a couple days ago about talking about how the republican party has become the party of the american working class i mean whether that's true or not it's undeniable that the trauma of the republican party under trump has gained a lot of support for his calls to return jobs to the united states that have been outsourced to places like china or other countries that do very cheap industrial
3:25 pm
labor that were sent out from the united states starting in the 1980 s. and basically now you know with globalization and completely just shifting our. i will say i think it's important to talk a little bit about. you know we even had it was quite some we had a panel on the other day that was a man who has been down to trouble but he said look i'm one of those never trumpets who's found myself nor could position while never put them i don't like the guy but i have to defend him because the way he's been treated by the media has been so on fox the last 4 years the car can't do anything right you know he was unemployment he's doing something wrong you know or he brings more jobs and keeps pennsylvanians fracking that's also you know he puts america fast he's also lost something else where is what was very interesting in this cycle of course is that biden was i mean he was painted this is kind of this great guy you know a kind of really nice genial joe who managed to get on with everyone who is had.
3:26 pm
kind of nice things to say about everyone the consummate politician i think has been given a sort of a more level start to ground to one trump style to 2016 you know he was outside your knuckles like i'm not sure about this guy you know the way he's he's just some random guy who's on the apprentice now he thinks he's the president whereas already that quitting presidential i had racing to see how the media to compare her to you know over the next we have how the media discusses joe biden as to compared to how they talked about joe donald trump for that have to agree and in this election we also saw about how the mainstream media before i mean there was a huge lead of biden over trump they were already basically claiming that he was going to be the next president of the united states and i would even have to take it further and talk more about social media too because a lot of people think that you know if if there's a private corporation or a private company doing news or handling information that it's going to be unbiased but a lot of people seem to disagree with that specifically conservatives especially after
3:27 pm
twitter and facebook blocked that new york post article about hunter biden's suspicious dealings suspicious business dealings in the ukraine with the company brás money just. remind our viewers that new york post article claims to have claims to have seen e-mails on a lot of former laptop of hunter biden's connecting him to these shady business dealings in the ukraine and then one of even one of hunter biden's former business associates came forward just right before the 2nd presidential debate to say that to identify actually his father joe biden in those e-mails who previously had completely denied having anything to do with those businesses and both twitter and facebook actually blocked that link from their social media platform which is very a lot of people are saying is a move of political bias i want to i think i let's bring out not shot of cuban scale correspondent in paris because i think we can talk about how the u.s.
3:28 pm
and foreign policy. one shot against to us where she was finding her that way out that sort of biting claims he was beaten. by biden's out back claiming he's beaten trump says that no no no i want to go away wolfowitz and anyone else so it's quite a complicated situation doesn't seem pretty yeah but what has been what hasn't been any reaction from a brooch. well yes a complicated situation when 2 people essentially saying that they've won the election however leaders in europe have been quick to flock to congratulate biden on his victory to become the president elect to be the next president of the united states the 46 president i want to take you through some of the reaction now we'll start off with ursula van dillen who is the european commission president she said she offered her warm congratulations to the biden harris team on the democrats
3:29 pm
there and she talked about the u.s. and the e.u. as being allies and friends hoping that cooperation would continue cooperation was also a word used by sebastian kurt sues the austrian chancellor he tweeted about the shared values between the 2 countries and again hope that it would be a good relationship going forward in the future giuseppe conti who's the italian prime minister talked about the u.s. being able to count on italy as being a solid hour like we're seeing lots of these dependencies people saying stability looking for these strong transatlantic relationship between the e.u. and the us and even there was a note from jens stoltenberg who is the chief of nato saying that he knows that joe biden is a strong supporter of the organization and that a strong nato was good for not only the u.s. but also the e.u.
3:30 pm
so lots of people reacting including these reactions on social media from the prime minister of the u.k. the french president and the german chancellor. congratulations to joe biden on his election as president of the united states and to come our harris on her historic achievement the u.s. is our most important ally and i look forward to working closely together on our shared priorities from climate change to trade and security the americans have chosen their president congratulations joe biden and come all of harris we have a lot to do to overcome today's challenges let's work together i look forward to future cooperation with president biden our transatlantic friendship is irreplaceable if we are to master of the great challenges of our time well so much congratulations but let's be clear not everybody is going to be welcoming a bite in president c. one person's perhaps not.
