8:49 pm
i will spare no effort none or any commitment. to turn around this pandemic. folks. i'm a proud democrat. but i will govern as an american president thank i work as hard for those who didn't vote for me as those who did. let discriminator of. demonization. in america began to end here and now. face years of democrats and republicans to cooperate with one another it's not some mysterious force beyond our control it's a decision a choice we make and if we can decide not to cooperate then we can decide to cooperate. and i the way. that this is part of the mandate
8:50 pm
given to us from the american people they want us to cooperate in their interest and that's the choice i'll make and i call on congress democrats republicans alike to make that choice with me. the american story is about slow yet steadily widening the opportunities in america and make no mistake too many dreams have been deferred to law. we must break the promise of the country's real for everybody no matter their race their ethnicity their faith their identity or their disability . a mare has always been shaped by inflection point by moments in time where we've made hard decisions about who we are and what we want to bring later in 860 coming to save the union
8:51 pm
after you are 930 tour promising to beleaguered country a new did. j.f.k. and 960 pledges a new front tear and 12 years ago when brock obama made history told us yes we can. we stand that inflection for you we have an opportunity to defeat despair to build a nation of prosperity and purpose we can do it i know we can i've last talked about the battle for the soul of america we must restore the soul of america our nation to shape by the constant battle between our better angels and our darkest impulses and what presidents say in this battle matters it's time for our better angels to prevail tonight the whole world is watching america and i
8:52 pm
believe that our best america is a beacon for the close. we will not leave and we will live not only by the example of our power but by the power of our example. the 5 who i've always been way too many of you heard me say i've always believed we can define america in one word possibilities. that and america everyone should be given an opportunity to go as far as their dreams and god given ability will take to you saying i believe in the possibilities this this country we're always looking. ahead to what america is freer and more just ahead what america crazy jobs with dignity and respect had an america that cures diseases like cancer and all simon's ahead to america and never leave anyone behind. the

head of america's never gives up never gives. the story. it's always been a bad head to bet against america we're good people this is the united states of america there's never been and. never been anything we've been able not able to do what we've done together for. the last days of the campaign i began thinking about a ham. that means a lot to me and my family particularly my to see son bo it captures the faith that sustains me which i believe sustains america. and i hope. and i hope i can provide some comfort and solace the 230001000 americans who've lost a loved one to this terrible virus this year my heart goes out to each and every one of you hopefully this gives you solace as well it goes like this and he will

8:55 pm
alive she yelled no joe we spread it. to you all. and let you take your cherry thank you thank you. while we're going to cross live now to our t's ben swanson an atlanta bed swan i'm sorry in atlanta to discuss with me the 1st speech that biden has given since the race was called in his favor so ben i mean this really was pretty much the victory speech even though we thought that the elections are still going on isn't that the is not the case. that is the case i mean there is a big difference between being projected winner which obviously joe biden. harris have been projected the winners by the media which is not unusual right when you are projected to win a certain state enough states to win the electoral college donald the bottom line is media makes projections in this country it's how it's always worked what's
8:56 pm
important here to consider is the fact that in this particular case there are more lawsuits than we've ever seen at one time going forward after the election and enough lawsuits that if they were to prevail and that's a huge if yeah it really were to prevail we would see you know a possible different outcome yeah absolutely and it's important to note like you were saying and in previous hours that another lawsuit was filed in arizona just hours before this speech was actually given and it's also important to note you know. biden was talking about how the country is really in an inflection point right now and he promised that his administration was going to be able to turn around the pandemic you talked about systemic racism the environmental crisis i mean how how how serious do you think biden is in fixing these problems do you think you can. well i think it's going to be very difficult one of the things that's still outstanding at this moment is where the senate races fall so right now as it seems to be trending it would appear that republicans would continue to hold
8:57 pm
control of the u.s. senate there are still going to be 2 runoff races in the state of georgia that would ultimately decide it looks like north carolina will go senate for republicans alaska will go to the republicans if that's the case it really comes down to georgia but if republicans hold the senate the biting the ministration doesn't have a whole lot of room in what they can do certainly not in terms of like the green new deal pushing forward a lot of these climate change policies even rolling back some of the policies of the trump administration it would be very difficult to do if they don't control the senate so it really comes down to whether or not they can either tie the senate because in the us the vice president is the tiebreaker when there is a split senate or whether or not they control that's what really comes down to that issue. right and of course there's also the idea of obamacare which was obviously. started under the obama administration in which joe biden was the vice president so that's another thing that he may perhaps biden will be trying to get through the
8:58 pm
congress but the speech actually seems pretty confident that he's going to be able to work bipartisan lee with the republican party with the democrats with people of all racial denominations as he mentioned there are even if i guess you know there is a smaller majority of the democrats in the house and even if the republicans do maintain the senate do you think that's plausible. well i think it depends on what he's trying to accomplish if he's talking about rolling back tax cuts not going to happen if republicans control the senate because even though they'll work with them they're not going to roll that back are they going to institute the green new deal are they going to ban fracking are they going to ban oil exploration none of those things are going to happen it really comes down to what can you get done can you pass for instance comprehensive coronavirus bill that would provide economic relief to people who are struggling yet that can probably get. so i think it depends on the issue i want to mention very quickly though about these lawsuits it's very important you know a lot of trim supporters believe that they have been cheated in this the president
8:59 pm
keeps referring to and i'm sure we're going to hear from him if not tonight by tomorrow we'll hear from the president who is going to say again that he has been cheated and by the way starting monday a lot of these lawsuits will go forward donald i've got to tell you the chances of these lawsuits actually prevailing pretty slim it's very unlikely that those lawsuits will prevail because it would be a very high burden you don't just have to prove that there was cheating you would have to prove there was enough cheating in these states that it actually would change the outcome of the election the outcome of the results in those states so it's very unlikely but here's what's important about that is that at this point dollars for his part didn't get blown out he has $69000000.00 plus votes almost $70000000.00 votes that have gone to him so even though the biden campaign says look we have 74000000 we have 4000000 more it doesn't discount the fact that at this point quite honestly joe biden and donald trump are now number one and number 2 in the history of the united states in terms of the raw vote and how many people
9:00 pm
voted for them so that means 70000000 people in this country believe they've been cheated so it's very difficult you know the biden talked about in his speech a time to heal he quoted the book of ecclesiastes from the bible and said there's a season for everything and this is the season to heal a time to heal it's very difficult to tell people to heal when the half of the country 70000000 voters believe that you cheated your way into the white house is going to be a very very difficult thing for him you have been like you were saying i mean i think i'd agree with you there when you say that the lawsuits are most likely going to fail on on a state by state basis but then also there's the possibility of the supreme court right and the supreme court has a newly established conservative majority there we're not sure so you know what do you think about the possibility of it going to the supreme court and perhaps making a serious impact on the outcome of this election that joe biden was just declaring full out one yeah it's going to pin on a couple of issues number one if it goes to the supreme court specifically for the state of pennsylvania.
