today you did not win violence never wins freedom wins may god bless all who serve here and those who protect this place and may god bless the united states of america let's get back to work. the united states senate will no be intimidated. now at this point it's important to go over how everything happened how did we get to this point of all the chaos we've seen today on capitol hill well it started with the fact that today was the day that the u.s. congress was scheduled to certify the presidential election results and set things in motion for joe biden to be inaugurated and donald trump called for a big rally of his supporters in washington d.c. to protest against that and perhaps try to stop that from happening i guess in

a vague sense so donald trump spoke to his supporters and gave them this message this is what trump said before the chaos broke out when addressing his supporters at their rally. we will never give up we will never concede it doesn't happen does anybody believe that joe had 80000000 votes says if you put my we had 80000000 computer votes to take 3rd world countries their elections are more honest than what we've been going through in this country democrats attempted the most brazen and outrageous election theft and there's ever been anything like this so pure theft. now trump supporters are certainly the talk of the town the center of the action today but you look at the alliance of forces in the country they seem to have the deck still pretty solidly stacked against them we're in a situation where as the chaos was happening the final results in georgia came in

and the 2 senate seats in georgia have gone to democrats democrats have won control of the senate and so now for the 1st time since 2009 democrats will control both houses of congress as well as the executive branch that's a situation where the democratic party has a pretty solid grip on power meanwhile a lot of mainstream republican voices have been denouncing donald trump and opposing what happened today on capitol hill we have a situation where it seems like the country has been effectively polarized now polls among regular republicans show that among republicans 70 percent of republicans do support donald trump do want their elected officials to be more like trump however among the population at large that's pretty clearly not the case and we've got a polarization where the country is pretty solidly opposed to donald trump and that polarization has favored the democratic party the democrats at this point are set

to be pretty solidly in control of both houses of congress and despite some pretty chaotic events on capitol hill it looks like for the moment as congress reconvenes and will go ahead and certify the election results donald trump and his movement has been defeated however many expect this won't be the last we hear from donald trump or from his movement of supporters who appear to be quite rowdy based on everything we saw today scale of mopp and thank you very much for those updates journalist and commentator chadwick moore believes the trump supporters merely adopted the same tactics used by liberals over the last 4 years. one of the ways people vent a little at their grief obviously the country is very tense it's very tense up it's very tense for a while but that's been agitated of course by economic shutdowns by lock downs and you have at least $80000000.00 voters who truly believe the election was stolen from them who believe that it was fraudulent and so they came to washington and

their story without all their venting this is obviously something fairly new for conservatives and for the right and for trump supporters to gather in massive behavior such as this but you know the other side for doing this for 4 years let's not forget that just 2 years ago when justice would always be confirmed by the senate liberal storm the supreme court so and of course obviously the liberal praise marches started with a with an operation a before and then kind of reach of beaver pitch this summer george lloyd in the black lives matters and deepest so are we seeing i don't think that we're going to see this sort of long to be here from the right the way that we do with the left and with we have with kids with liberals you know people are upset they're venting and conservatives are immune from an emotional response particularly when they truly believe that that this election was illegal and that they had it stolen from them. that we cross now to our expert panel with reese everson author and founder

that things have kind of got off the rails in american politics this is not normal behavior in american politics this is honestly not all behavior in any politics to see this kind of violence happening on sort of a routine you know certification process. where kerry what do you think about this when you think about these scenes in the united states of america right now well i think we're being awfully generous by simply calling it you know upset people this is sedition this is an act to overthrow the u.s. government people died this is beyond crazy this is a criminal act you know back in the vietnam war there were mobs to try to store the storm the capitol building and they were suppressed and it was not a problem because it was considered appropriate you don't overthrow the government that's if you love the constitution i do to my ancestors signed the declaration of independence we don't like kings we don't like autocrats we don't like guys who

stand up and declare that they are king no matter what. what are your $0.02 about this. actually i think contrary to what one of the analysts said i think there actually is great precedent or it is we 'd look back in history we would realize that the the the documents that were signed next you speak of the declaration of independence those are merely contracts signed by evil who agreed to be governed a certain way and when they decided that they no longer true love the way you wish their govern as americans i actually believe that was hijacked allows for us to say we have you know how we don't like how things are going and we want a change we demanded a change we voted our vote is not going to hurt and that's how the people feel they do have a right to claim their voices heard and it actually is in the courage that if you read the fine print of the declaration where it says that if you don't agree and

there comes a time when you need to do a heap of your government then you may do so. that's a really good point you bring up there i want to ask another question about the fact that some are calling for these trump supporters to be arrested for treason actually it seems like they are interpreting the constitution a little bit differently what do you think about that. and then that means that all these go back you understand what things like the civil war or what our history in america truly did everything that new york has been purchased through or if he will do people say we need to not consent to being governed in this way and what you see right now is a repeat of history you see people standing up and say i don't like words countries head and i don't agree with the principles i don't eat that is being govern the democratic way that isn't seen right now it's not about treason it's about people more american citizens so this is not what they signed up for. and what do you

think about the consequences of what of what happened today do you think that this is going to really kind of trumps last iran trying to you know stop what he was calling fraudulent elections where you think. definitely not i mean this is a carefully planned political strategy listen if you are seen as the loser in a contest you don't have the same spirit behind you as if you're seen as someone who's wronged in a legal hearing and trump is very cleverly brilliantly shifted the narrative from basically i lost an election to i was wronged by the evil system trump is just getting started i cannot imagine that this is the end of it this is the midpoint if anything i expect that trump supporters who are loyal to trump who want the rest of the republican party to be more like trump they don't want trump to be more like the rest they want the rest to be more like trump i don't see this as as as good as calming down any time soon i'm going to i imagine that the next 4 years you're

going to see a lot more rallies a lot more potential violence unfortunately i think going to see a lot more ire and i do believe that trump's political career is very far from over ok i saw you nodding a bit over there did you want to add something you know i think that was really well presented just now the one before i don't agree with let's just cut to the chase. let's pretend it's brock obama and he says you know what even though 60 different independent courts with all the evidence of a little known to humankind have absolutely adjudicated that there was no fraud including mildred whose husband fought in world war 2 against the nazis she's there manually counting along with computer scans no fraud she's somehow a lying sack and come up seriously so let's say it's barack obama who says all this 10000 black people show up in washington d.c. and they storm the capitol building and they're armed with guns do you think they'd

be called terrorists you better believe it with the helicopters be out you better believe it would they be allowed to do it you know chants so literally it's because of the. who donald trump is who his followers are that they can get away with it and not be considered terrorists if it was black lives matter storming the capitol my god we'd have to batten down the hatches and lock our doors at home wherever we live oh my god the negroes are. writing negroes cannot happen will not happen but these are just aggrieved people who are just they just want to be heard seriously and that's really great way. you had to do want to say anything about that reese during the during the george floyd riot or as they were called right through the george writing there was a phrase that said when the looting starts the shooting starts and that basically

quit black or white lies narrow warning that if they were to be cancer any any type of violence or are evil that was seen it violence that there must be surely there will be glad in the streets and you're absolutely right that last matter black people who are greedy comes in this country asking for justice for the murder of john exploit and had a head prison any time of bibles there would have been blood in the streets and that's why when people chose the route that he did because he saw when black people speak up and use any type of strain they are crushed but when bill when people who are not african does it show up in this country they did manage their whisky her person strange reason were able to protect the capital without a single bullet being fired or without a single person being killed and i believe and just recently there is a toll that one person has been here but even. looking back at others not it was fun. other than that you know that is not in any great seriousness so that's

a very interesting i'm saying gee why is it that like this kind of you're able to ask or just is or what the contract of the constitution and titles everyone else to you without there being violence. those are all some really good points but i want to move the discussion now to 2 tech giants actually i mean we saw today how facebook and twitter of both suspended trump's account this this question let's start with you are than i mean do tech giants should they have the right to censor the president of the united states. they're private companies and i think they have the right to censor but i do think that that means the government needs to see things any involvement with facebook and with twitter that means any federal agency any federal representative of any kind any job posting and none of that should be happening on facebook when you allow when the government continues to have other things happening through facebook important information alerts and whatnot it

essentially amounts to outsourcing censorship censorship you can't just outsource censorship to the private sector to get around the 1st amendment and that's what we're seeing right now isn't facebook and twitter aren't just just censoring the president they're censoring basically anybody with a with a position that doesn't go along with the silicon valley narrative i've been censored many times many libertarian groups have been censored many have been shut down not for any cup for promoting any kind of violence but because they simply don't support the welfare state so do they have the right to do it sure because the government have a responsibility to seize any involvement with facebook definitely and most importantly do we as a as a as a community have the responsibility to say yeah i'm not going to be part of a an organization that censors people absolutely and so this is incumbent on us as people to say we will not be part of any kind of organization that censors people up to and including the president of the united states. carrie do you agree with

that what you're saying yes actually i agree with much of it i'm a fan of censoring by withholding my wallet but let's also understand that facebook and twitter are free so let's say it was the phone company where you're paying a flat rate fee or even paying a lot of money for it they don't censor you you can swear and show your wee wee and do whatever you want to do it's not a problem but it's somebody else's real estate now that's not saying it's good i'm not defending mr zucker bird here trust me i'm not but he owns the real estate i'm walking on his lawn he's not walking on my lawn if he decides that you've got to wear a green hat on my lawn that i have to wear green hat or i get kicked off his lawn if he wants to charge me for being on his lawn then i might have an expectation of privacy or protection order freedom of speech but i'm on his lawn his rules just like you're under 18 at home living with their parents their house their rules we

months. when state events left so many surprised a very bad way and actually worried and this is why we're here international reaction and it's mostly about condemnation of the chaos in washington d.c. this is actually the word they use to describe the situation the events in the american capital but again the world is said and then this when we hear from u.n. secretary general he said he said by events in washington adding it is important that political leaders impress on their followers the need to refrain from violence and i think this is something that pretty much everybody shares that no violence can be accepted here's nato secretary general saying shocking scenes in washington d.c. he tweeted by the way that very tweeted that blocked the whole trams account for at least 24 hours one out threatening to suspended for ever if the rules are not mad and also he added the outcome of the democratic elections in america should be

respected and here are some other politicians describing the situation in washington d.c. in quite similar words. the scenes in washington d.c. this is not acceptable assaults on democracy peaceful and orderly transfer of power must be ensured the violent acts against american institutions are a grave attack against democracy i condemn them the american people's will and vote must be respected disgraceful scenes and u.s. congress the united states stands for democracy around the world that it is no voice of that there should be a peaceful orderly transfer of power. shock and condemnation it's clear it's not every day that you see in a democratic country special like america hundreds of supporters storm in the federal building interrupting a crucial event for the entire nation debate over such a fine in the presidential election and itself every day that you see vice president evacuee you know it's clear. now we hear german foreign minister saying

that tram and he's supposed to smushed accept the decision of american voters at the last and stop trampling on democracy and we also heard from him that he called on german citizens currently in washington d.c. to possibly stay away from the city center because would be dangerous and it is dangerous we now hear that one of the protesters who was shot during the protest near the capitol building died later in hospital so it is it's going so vile and so wild i mean the raw data so it's very very serious and we now know that congressman to back the capital city to discuss do what they were supposed to do and they were unable to do to the protests and i guess we're going to hear soon the outcome of the recount. well.
