10:02 pm
national guard was forced to clear the building of pro trump supporters who stormed the site earlier police say a female protester died of her injuries after being shot inside the capitol during the riots video has emerged apparently showing the moment of the shooting in the capital warning you may find the footage disturbing your. number of police and secret service were saying get back get down get out of the way she didn't heed the call and as we kind of raced up to grab people pull them back they shot her in the neck and she fell back on me and started to say she was fine at school and then she started kind of like move in weird and blood was coming out of her mouth and neck and nose police used tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the crowd and push it away from the capitol.
10:03 pm
so this is been going on now for about the last half hour what we're seeing are a series of flash bangs that keep going off it's the upper part of this this
10:04 pm
platform area over on the left hand side back towards the building i have been told by multiple people who were up there and coming down that there is a large group of people who are still scuffling with police up there at one point some of those protesters took the pepper spray away from police and pepper sprayed officers so what the police are trying to do is they're trying to clear everyone off of these stairs and they're using those flash bangs if used now probably every few minutes a day try to kind of clear people off and to bring them down they're using pepper spray and they're using flash bangs to put things one of the things that we have learned about that young woman i have been getting some information from people who were here the young woman who was shot in the neck or head area apparently was part of 81st wave of people. who pushed it and you hear those why the way more of those flash bangs go enough she was part of the 1st wave that pushed it with a group of men they pushed through the doors and one of the officers i'm told it was a female officer inside the capitol building who actually fired
10:05 pm
a weapon and then he hit her we've also been told that apparently there was another man who may have had a heart attack when he was being pepper sprayed inside of the building so i have been told there may be 2 people who are in serious condition after this i'll also got to tell you i just finished talking with a guy who was part of this wave that pushed through the capitol building he was showing me that he also of them going through breaking glass inside the senate chambers going through nancy pelosi office he said there were several 100 people at one point going through nancy pelosi office sitting in the different the different chair so right now what we're seeing and what you're seeing with this the smoke is those flash bangs going off up there and it looks like police trying to push some of these guys off of the the stairway and to move them down off of the capitol building right now where you can see. that group of officers standing up at the top
10:06 pm
that was completely full of trump supporters as of you know 3045 minutes ago slowly they've been moving these folks down so now if you look you can see these officers are starting to really move everyone off of those stairs they're moving them down now and with more force than we've seen throughout the day today this is by far the most force that we've seen in terms of moving people off of the building they pretty much let people set up there are after noon i mean we had people sitting on the edges of of the stairwells sitting on the on the bleachers that are set up for the inauguration they were all up there for hours and now as we look up there it's all the you know lime green officers coats and they are pushing all these folks down there. president elect joe biden condemned the unrest branding it an insurrection while president donald trump also posted a video online urging his supporters to act peacefully and head home let's take a look at what they had to say. i call on president trump to go on national
10:07 pm
television now to fulfill his oath and defend the constitution and demand an end to this see each the storm the capitol to smash windows to occupy offices. the floor of the united states senate rummaging through desks on the capitol of the house of representatives threatening the safety of duly elected officials it's not protest it's insurrection the world is watching like so many other americans. i'm genuinely shocked and saddened that our nation so long the beacon of light hope for democracy has come to such a dark moment we don't want anybody hurt it's a very tough period of time there's never been a time like this where such
10:08 pm
a thing happened where they could take it away from all of us from me from you from our country this was a fraudulent election but we can't play into the hands of these people we have to have peace so go home we love you very special you've seen what happens you see the way others are treated that are so bad and so evil i know how you feel but go home and go home and peace president trumps message you've just seen was posted online but you tube facebook and twitter have deleted the video for breaking their rules the latter 2 have gone one step further and blocked trump's account for repeated claims about rigged elections their bans will last for 24 and 12 hours respectively but if violations continue twitter says the account will be deleted. meanwhile biden supporters have gathered in times square and by trump tower in new york city urging the president not only to leave the white house but
10:09 pm
also demanding his indictment the protesters held banners and posters calling on the president to accept the results of november's election. let's get a live update on the situation now from our new york correspondent caleb moppin caleb always good to hear from you can you tell us what is you know where things stand right now at capitol hill it's been quite a day indeed well the u.s. congress has finally convened its no longer on lockdown and at this point mike pence presiding over the congress in his role as vice president has made clear that they intend to proceed with the certification of joe biden as president paving the way for his inauguration and that this provocative activity this storming of the capitol building will not influence that outcome this is mike pence speaking to congress to those who wreaked havoc in our capital today you did not
10:10 pm
win violence never wins freedom wins may god bless all who serve here. and those who protect this place and may god bless the united states of america let's get back to work. united states will no be intimidated. now how did this all start well today is the day that it was scheduled it was scheduled wednesday that the certification by the u.s. congress of the presidential election results would take place and it was scheduled to happen and trump called for a major rally of his supporters he called for all of his supporters to convene in washington d.c. to protest against that certification donald trump gave a speech to is supporters telling them that the election was rigged and that they
10:11 pm
would not surrender they would not stand down this is donald trump addressing his supporters just hours before chaos broke out on capitol hill this is trump we will never give up we will never concede it doesn't happen does anybody believe that joe had 80000000 votes says that if. he had 80000000 computer votes it takes 3rd world countries their elections are more honest than what we've been going through in this country democrats attempted the most brazen and outrageous election set theft in this ever been a thing like this so pure theft. now it's important to note that mike pence sent a letter to donald trump saying that he would not be using his powers as vice president to try and delay the process in the senate and in the u.s. congress he would not be trying to delay the certification results donald trump lashed out at mike pence on social media and while the chaos was breaking out in
10:12 pm
the u.s. capitol while that was happening the results came in from georgia and the 2 senate seats in the u.s. georgia have in georgia have been won by democrats the u.s. senate is now in the hands of the democrats the u.s. house of representatives and the executive branch are all going to be in the hands of the democrats for the 1st time since 2009 while donald trump's supporters may be the center of the action today in the center of attention the deck is pretty solidly stacked against them they are in a position of weakness and many mainstream republicans are starting to denounce them as well many voices from the republican camp have spoken against donald trump spoken against today's activities now a recent poll was taken and 70 percent of republican voters in the united states do say that they they would like the republican party to be similar to donald trump and closer to donald trump's viewpoint but beyond the republican party itself among
10:13 pm
the broad masses of americans there seems to be a pretty strong repudiation of the last 4 years at this point there has been a polarization and that polarization is favoring the democratic party joe biden is about to take office and it seems at this point that donald trump's movement is very much defeated and on the defensive it's also been worth pointing out that donald trump has at this point been taken off of social media twitter and facebook have shut down his account for the next few hours at least and so we won't be hearing from trump on facebook or on twitter he has been. and in that way and while trump supporters around the country are certainly angry and protesting it seems that they have lost the battle and at the moment the democratic party trumps critics in the republican party and all who stand in opposition to donald trump have the upper hand and donald trump will be leaving office very shortly despite
10:14 pm
utter chaos breaking out on capitol hill. new york correspondent up and thank you very much for those updates. now for more insight into the situation we go live to jennifer damascus or anti terror expert and legal analyst jennifer thank you very much for joining us on the program now 1st i want to start with the international reaction to what's happened we've heard from european leaders even the general secretary of nato and they've basically all of course denounced the storming of the capital what do you think this is going to what effect this is going to have for america's reputation internationally. i mean we're going to have to see there's still a lot that we have to do that we have to see going forward i don't think it's going to affect much the reputation but i think that the recognition is actually very important mainly because regardless of what both sides are saying or what multiple different sides are faded now becoming a little more murky donald trump a great foreign policy was able to work with not only our allies but also supposed
10:15 pm
adversaries or others overseas and reach across the borders and tried to sexually piece not only deals in the middle east but others that he was able to work with well over the trampoline operate be able to respect other countries our allies their influence and try to bake america's position in order stable and that area rather than just inciting endless wars and so i think i do worry because they're i know it may be outside of european union but i do know that there are world leaders there and people around the world that are probably concerned about this as are american citizens that what is going to happen to the rest of the wall i think that's the main thing to look at in terms of actual leaders throughout the world especially those leaders that are concerned that if joe biden takes the white house again. that there just going to be more and less wars despite that and that's one thing the donald trump of able to stop now is if european union leaders or others
10:16 pm
there are obviously going to condemn violence i think everyone would condemn violence both parties have condemned it people that were even attending the trump speech today have condemned that violence because many of them say they had no idea what was going on so we're getting a lot of different stories coming out and i think everybody should condemn violence i'm more concerned about why violence of smashing windows and doors was attended by joe biden for the last 7 months that was going on throughout america by and i guess that will be remains to be seen regarding any investigations. thing on the to. the condemnation of violence of course i want to bring our viewers' attention to these the extraordinary pictures of guns drawn inside the capitol building i mean then there was also that female protester who was shot in the capitol building and later died from her injuries from those gunshot wounds did you. did you ever think you would witness such a scene in the united states of america and who do you think is responsible for it
10:17 pm
. definitely not the united states you know i've been to the middle east many times i've i've seen lots of different things you never see think that you're going to see this here and united states you don't think you're going to see that kind of violence and i think that one of the reasons that you're rested in unfolded the way they have here because this is one country that most people are really not going to leave the country they haven't seen a lot of the world and so they really do think that they are so far away americans have really been blind to a lot of going on around the world a lot that's gone on being perpetuated by their own elected officials really don't know and i think right now we're starting to wake up in terms of what we thought we would see or not in the capitol building i mean it is they call it the people building i've lived in d.c. i've been there many times the capitol is open to the public all the time you can generally ringback the time at least you can. walk through it so it's a very it's a very peaceful place a place that's supposed to be for the people. but i tell you have you know even
10:18 pm
though a lot of us mainstream media outlets haven't covered up for much of the n.t. some islands throughout throughout the last 7 months that have been going on and business is against state capital building throughout the seattle and portland michigan and we've seen i really do think that there are. going to show be poached rallies was infiltrated into fab and i just i just hate to have acted as a terrorist organization they've demonstrated on the black flies matter they have. engaged right typically when you watch trump events that people are thinking the police officers and there are very very people on they really haven't even been around or been burned and to see some of the vitriolic yelling and the rockets and they're even thinking as they came out last night before anything happened they where some of the trauma tend to perceive things on the side of the road. propane tanks other things and we're concerned about that. so i think there has to be an
10:19 pm
investigation whether this was infiltrated by and by some of their variants because it seems that he more of a terrorist attack rather than this i guess what that's all going to be. some of the i mean that of course dress enough and or sense that everything now seen and forced multiple senators were going to protect the electors to not object. well you know there are those who have been you know talking about the events of today as somewhat of a domestic terror an example of domestic terror and there are those who are calling for people to be arrested on charges of treason even what do you think about these these claims. well it turns the truth and i have. any of the charges treason are providing aid and comfort to an enemy of the united states major that enemy of the united states and i do think there may have been treason charges i do not think there's any to day per se in and of themselves unless they're connected
10:20 pm
to something bigger. than looking at a more universal picture i will talk about the domestic terrorism in the united states and i think terrorism is defined as an act of violence that is intended to cause a political purpose earlier we were talking about how. there were many senators are going to be led by ted cruz to the certification of electors and many p.c.'s where there are hundreds of thousands of pages of fraudulent fraud allegations in the election of regularities machines the people for the way ballots anything else and so many of these senators one of them you can say unless like she was going to check the certification we need to investigate this fraud or we certify i did as president. and did act this act alone however strong these buildings were came in dressed in all this whatever else that was actually in the political purpose of multiple energy policy telling leveler and a few others to say you know what because what we saw today we're not going to do
10:21 pm
that so in fact if you're looking at the definition of domestic terrorism you saw today whatever happened today for so senators are going to jackson's not object to the electors and which is something that trump supporters trumpeter part of looking for him and some of the suggestions in the biden by saying hey we need to investigate brought before we can do just to make sure he didn't win broad so i think we're definitely looking at domestic terrorism if anybody doubting before that i was that now i have to go in and see if i'm sure they're all right pictures they're actually multiple sources one anchor even fox news here in america as nothing but it might seem that pictures are starting to pick up their facial recognition they're showing some of the people that stormed the capitol building were in fact. agitators and. riots and so these are already starting to trickle out i think it's going to start coming out more social media maybe but that would absolutely eat about the carrots and of course anybody else was involved for that purpose well whoever they end up turning out to be right we're talking about the
10:22 pm
storming of the capitol building this is i mean i think it's safe to say this is a huge security failure what do you what do you think what do you think this means for the security of the capitol building and also for biden's upcoming inauguration . well it is interesting you know we know that i didn't actually it was about 2 or 3 days ago biden canceled his inauguration parade you know i was actually in d.c. a little earlier in december and it was walking towards the white house which is completely different areas and one of the one of the white house office for secret service there are one of the i have offices of the. state in that state and that they would bring down for the inauguration i mean that was all the way back in early december and you have not can sleep it's an occupation for aid a lot of things that actually do you see even as much as in early december we're looking like they're being shut down the residents don't want to be there or the dogs local residents please you know they know something's going on they know
10:23 pm
something's up and so i think there is a lot to be said for what is going on with the security there's already footage this is a leak that looks as if one of the breaches of the capitol building the capitol police themselves are actually opening the gates there is a video that's come out it's now 30 laying around i don't know if it's been played on any media outlets but they're showing capitol police that were opening these gates and some of the people that were intended for or wondering what was going on so an absolute failure in security not just the feeling and security for the capitol building before elected officials both parties but for all the people in attendance there were people in attendance that were part of the violence or didn't ringback know what was going on they were told to meet in front of the capitol they thought i would get peaceful protests outside and suddenly they're stuck in the middle of this but here yes in all this this is incredibly dangerous and to see the failure there in the nation's capital is incredibly incredibly burning especially for the future of our country and so we have to make sure that we do for them honest enough for d.c.
10:24 pm
is run by their more. or a lot of people are looking at that as the failure if there is a lot of different questions on who controls whom and whether the president or or other elected officials with control any part of that but really was at least the metropolitan police that was. they are there but there does have to be multiple investigations and i think that people are just the man he answers i think american people are tired of being kept in the dark not knowing what's going on seeing things ringback in their very eyes and that means hold something else so now that we definitely want to see something happen. jennifer de master anti terror expert and legal analyst thank you very much for joining us on the program your insight is always very valuable and. there's been a huge shock around the world that such events could play out in a country that presents itself as the leader of the free world earlier maria financial joins me to talk through the global reaction to the riots in d.c. . world is shocked washing what is happening in washington d.c.
10:25 pm
but more it and said at the same time because things have been developing on the ground in the american capital very violently and it's not every day that we see things like this happen in a democratic country it's not every day that we see hundreds of supporters storming the federal building interruption a very important meeting debate over so define the election presidential election. and it's not every day that we see vice president evacuated and the whole senate temper evacuated the national guard on the ground the world has been worried about what's going on america not only in the last couple of hours but in the last months with to be honest with america being divided torn by so much violence and intolerance and hatred with people being so exhausted so angry so aggressive to each other going on the streets to protest and to beat the child and to kill each other but even despite all these things that we've been seeing from america in the
10:26 pm
last months wednesday events left so many shocked again and this is what exactly what we hear from the u.n. secretary general he said the events in washington d.c. and he's calling on the leadership of the country to solve it in a peaceful way nato secretary general mrs stoltenberg tweeted shocking scenes in washington d.c. if we can't agree more. the outcome he added of these democratic elections should be respected so overall the reaction from the leaders we hear so far from the leaders and from the politicians official reaction i mean it's a condemnation of the k.s. this is exactly the word they use the scenes in washington d.c. this is not acceptable assaults on democracy and peaceful and really transfer of power must be ensured the violent acts against american institutions are. grave attack against democracy i condemn them the american people's will and vote must be
10:27 pm
respected disgraceful scenes in the us congress the united states stands for democracy around the world that it is no voice oh but those should be a peaceful orderly transfer of power and here is also the german foreign minister and this is rather alarming for me i don't know he's called on german citizens currently in washington d.c. to stay away. you know possibly from. the capitol building because it could be dangerous and it is dangerous we now know police confirm that that one protester a woman died in the protests she was shot and she died in hospital and we've seen these pictures i mean this crowd is aggressive and very loud and tear gas armed national guards i mean i mean it has been violent and still could be dangerous there. and now we know that they congressman they return to the capitol building and they are they are back to what they were supposed to finish hours hours before
10:28 pm
