but. this is a history of the usa and there are. greetings and sell you take yes simply each season is here my friends the now 2nd impeachment trial of former u.s. president donald trump is underway here in washington d.c. and while democrats need one really isn't impossible to attain 17 republicans to jump ship and join them in order to successfully impeach the former brand name and cheap that doesn't mean this ordeal is all for naught you see it's going to be great ratings for mainstream corporate media because the political grandstanding in

pearl clutching will truly be must see t.v. for the political junkies of our day but while all the focus will be on capitol hill and the political theater of it all the events of january 6th the rise of mago in the reign of neo liberal austerity has brought the united states to a very dangerous crossroads. recently in a new york times op ed robert granular the former director of the cia's counterterrorism center from 2004 to 2006 when writing about the trump presidency in the events of january 6th he stated we may be witnessing the dawn of a sustained wave of violent insurgency within our own country perpetrated by our own country men and it's the us government in our elected leaders potential response to this insurgency that has many here in the united states on one hand sharing while many others are fearing u.s. president joe biden has pledged his administration will work for a domestic terrorism law senate majority leader chuck schumer has called for the

capital riders to be placed on a no fly list bank of america has been accused by fox news host tucker carlson and others of handing over to the f.b.i. financial data of 211 of its clients who happened to use credit and debit cards for lodging food and other purchases in washington in the days before and after the january 6th siege and while no one can argue that the actions of trump giuliani and their supporters should not go on punished there is also good reason to be concerned that buried among the search for justice are security state opportunists looking to expand command and control over american society so today let's begin at the crossroads of security and freedom as we start watching the hawks. on a city new street you want to. see this is joyce state
2:33 am
. great city this least systemic dissent says the late show which. welcome everyone to watching the horror of the world with her and i'm of the. cross security and freedom that seems to be like the underlying current when you look we have the impeachment today we know what's going to happen with that it's going to be fun to watch it's going to be sad to watch but it's very predictable but underneath that is the kind of we still haven't really was all that debate over how how do we handle the idea of domestic terrorism in this country how do we balance trying to secure the country well at the same time. you know keeping our freedoms keeping our constitution intact but i think that's the 1000000 dollar question and it's one that many congress members are refusing to actually answer partially because what we heard from trump's own f.b.i. was that domestic terrorism specifically that white supremacist was the biggest
2:34 am
threat that america head and i think that you know we've seen it underscored time and time again before the infiltration of the capital but it's a question that bears to mind that we have to start looking inwardly at the fact that there are a lot of people who are homegrown terrorists who are getting radicalized right here in america in the cities across the country and we need to do something about it now to the extent that i think we might take things a little too far and surveilling individuals just because somebody says something or follows a group online doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to take arms and attack an elected official but i do think that there are certain groups who have exhibited problematic behavior that warrants more surveillance more and more it's interesting because of the interview with n.p.r. when discussing you know what lessons he learned in afghanistan. and how those are rare. of into stopping extremism here i mentioned him earlier robert green you stated the thrust of our campaign there was guest to hunt down al qaeda but primarily to remove the supportive environment in which they were able to live and
2:35 am
to flourish and that meant fighting the taliban i think that is at the heart of what we need to deal with here. that's bothers me a little bit when you're suddenly comparing and i don't know maybe where there maybe someone hasn't given me enough information to really show me why but a buck does bother me when i see kind of being equated that we need to practice how we fought terrorism abroad and then bring that back here is there are correct correct way for us to remove the supportive environment of extremism here at home but again losing our freedoms in the process i don't think really can be done because we didn't. when watching how the us has fought terrorism overseas there's no. to their rights we still have people in guantanamo the number that have been tried for this so a lot in that quote is problematic in and of itself it presupposes that we actually did a good job and eradicated terrorism and working at figuring out how the taliban operated
2:36 am
was an environment that we were actually able to disrupt that's factually incorrect and so i think that we have to we do have to root out the elements that help domestic terrorism to flourish that help people to join and advance some of these while goals that end up actually hurting people in the long run but it's easier said than done in many cases the manipulation that goes through several social media channels but also outside of social media. these are things that we've been working at for a long time and still have yet to figure out i think that one of the toughest parts is that there is no real way or we haven't found a substantive way yet to determine who will read something and then take it into action because many people read crazy things every day and they don't go out and harm people and then there are some who do who gets radicalized and who doesn't based on the same information and that's a tough thing to be able to weed through it is and i think the way that you don't fight because in my mind is always like look it's better that people read something bad than take that bad thing away from them to read because then what happens is
2:37 am
that gives it this credibility it gives this this new mystery that everyone wants to read or if you block somebody on social media if you take that away. you know when suddenly everybody mistreated i got to see what this person said it's interesting too because a lot of would we see these procedures as they call them or you know giving law enforcement more power that doesn't mean that necessarily they're only going to go after people that we reversely don't like diyala shamus an attorney with the center for constitutional rights she told the guardian quote an expansion of domestic terrorism won't mean more focus on white terrorism when you consider the biases that law enforcement has with its focus on black political distant muslim political distant descent palestinian or going to organizing it's not far from which to imagine that those are the groups that will be disproportionately represented in any so-called domestic terrorism framing yeah you know they're going to turn this around on the very people that we might be fighting they've already been writing for as they've already tried it we've seen it we've seen it with you know the push to label the black lives matter activist as
2:38 am
a terrorist organization we've seen it historically with organizations like the back black panthers we saw to be labeled as a terrorist attack martin luther king jr who labeled as a terrorist and yet one of the most peaceful movements in american history so i do think there's something to be said about about the government many times utilizing that terrorism 9 tactic or label for individuals who are actually just trying to have their voices heard or you know humanitarian. needs of for civil rights and justice rarely do we see it placed on the groups that actually that label that is very true i mean look at the muslim americans after 911 and the patriot act has destroyed many of those communities. president biden entered the oval office with marching orders from progressive minority and 1st time voters they wanted radical change and a swift departure from trump era policy amid the backdrop of a nationwide racial reckoning the deep on the police mantra and calls for police reform took hold u.s.
2:39 am
immigration and customs enforcement ice became a primary target former president trying to utilize ice to advance deportations game with a. and turned america's asylum laws upside down the expectation was that with a new president a democratic president things would change it seems like ice isn't easing up on its human rights violations nor its ramped up efforts against asylum seekers in fact 3 cameroonian asylum seekers at pine prairie ice processing center and with the ana argued that an ice agent brought in to expose them to kuwait 19 if they failed to obey his orders and submit a transfer one of the detained men told the intercept if the detained immigrants didn't submit they will be transferred to bravo alpha the detention unit where kobe positive detainees according to asylum seekers say guards dragged him pushed them threatening them while trying to fast track deportation under the truck administration the u.s. rate of asylum applications for cameroonians plummeted last year but their
2:40 am
deportations increased the men have been subject to overcrowded dance where they can't socially distance and tight sleeping quarters 100 people to a room president biden issued a 100 day deportation moratorium a campaign promise he kept he also committed to review and reset boersma policies but states like texas rebuffed by these efforts in local injunctions additionally 20 more more than 20 babies and children have been deported by the u.s. to haiti at least 72 people were deported to haiti on monday a clear breach of suppose that halt in deportations the children were deported on to flights chartered by ice from laredo texas to haiti's port au prince. is going broke new rules must be put in place to protect asylum seekers and limit these mass deportations the guidance is said to be on the horizon. it's interesting that we're you know thinking about law enforcement agencies you said going rogue when you're
2:41 am
being that it's ice it doesn't surprise me given the kind of blank check and brutality that they were given over the last 4 years you can't just suddenly turn back with a stroke of a pen now i think you're right there is a mindset here and i think that you know with as much credit as they get during the chump administration for some of the heinous things that we saw them do i've been ratcheting up these these you know terrible deportations for years now they also did it during the obama administration and they got started during the during the latter terms of the bush administration and they've only gotten worse and they've got more expansive states are now using their legislative power to have injunctions that so that they can basically start circumvent buy and hold on deportations and when they do that guess who is ready to come in and ready to rumble ice and all of a sudden separate these families and you know the asylum asylum system all over it it's interesting because as you mentioned kind of the threat of him as the language of the intercept mention these sorts of like them using you know threatening these
2:42 am
folks with you know exposing them to covert in the process of whether deporting them or holding them whatever you know what people might look at say arm so shocked how could these people be solaced people do that and actually look at them say you know what we use tear gas people practicing their 1st mineral rights which is a chemical weapon and you cannot use that on the battlefield so it does not surprise me with mine so i would say you know what yeah i'm a bright new with cold would not throw you into a tank with people who have. just because i don't like you and getting brought up that that's a strong correlation because that's exactly what we're seeing happen these individuals these these ice officials know how it is running in even the facilities they're holding them in what is already present as a matter of fact in prime prairie facility which is one that is also a it is owned and operated by a private a private jail institution a private prison they have 21 confirmed cases. now so when you're threatening these individuals who already are in many cases receiving treatment for the covert they
2:43 am
already have and you're threatening people who you're trying to fast track in the process to throw them into an area where these people are already being isolated because they have covert 19 that's really scary because it not only pushes them to i guess obey your command immediately because they're built for their lives but also you know it's it's a biochemical warfare to a certain extent because you know what could happen you know the potential and you're fully aware of the threat that you're posing to these individuals and when and when we've now given. these border security people when they look at people crossing the border they look at these people that they're training for lack of a better word is what they're doing they don't see. a lot of them of the train themselves not to see a human being they see an enemy. an enemy combatant for lack of better word. it almost makes the question obscene people raise this now do we need to just abolish ice across the border we need to get rid of this is an organization and start over and i think the more we see stories like this the answer is going to be
2:44 am
a resoundingly yes because we've handled these issues before without we have to remember that i have is not is still fairly young organization i do think that we need comprehensive immigration reform our asylum laws don't necessarily be need to be changed we need to follow the laws that are on the books and that's not what we're seeing happen right now and to the point that we see so many people in the media when you're talking about undocumented immigrants when you're talking about asylum we rarely see black people the interesting part about this case to me is that they were cameroonians and haitians think that during the during the trial that ministration a lot of the ratchet up that was over a latino immigrants who for the most part latino immigrants and asylum seekers also did not deserve what we saw happen but i do think that there's something to be said that now we're seeing this happen in mass to people from black countries. couldn't agree with you more and you know while we're talking about the abolishment of ice can we also get in this plays into the original. and we also get rid of the use of the term homeland i think that just bothers me to we're supposed to be you know
2:45 am
america we supposed to accept people of all walks of all cultures say come here try to make a try to succeed and yet we use this term homeland like like like we didn't take it from the native americans in the 1st place like we're not all we immigrants on this land and yeah we don't like to think and we don't all right as we go to break remember that you can also start watching the hawks on the man through the brand new portable t.v. which is available on all platforms for the family check that are coming up we dive into one researcher's theory behind what fueled the rise of the politics of donald trump and what led to the violence we saw on january 6th you do not want to miss this conversation so stay tuned to watch. the.

internet censorship is happening at an accelerated pace conservatives and progressives i mean democratized and he plotted more times than not the censorship is never really explained we are left to assume when the phrase community standards is invoked we somehow what's right but that's what dissent is all about. join me every thursday on the alec simon show and i'll be speaking to guest in the

world of politics sports business i'm show business i'll see you then. dark industry comes to life in los angeles every night. dozens of women sells their bodies on the streets many of them under-age. los angeles police reveal a taste of their daily challenge no if you're going to exploit a child here in los angeles we're going to come as you see officers going undercover as 6 workers and customers to fight 6 trade. the insurrection of the u.s. capitol on january 6th will never be forgotten president trump left office steeped
2:48 am
in a sea of election fraud lies conspiracy theories and with the blood of 5 lives on his hands 5 people died at the capitol where trump supporters moderate and and white supremacists believe wholeheartedly that they could flip the results of the 2020 presidential election and they believed it because trump and many of his allies in the house and the senate said so. much has been said across multiple media channels about what inspired thousands to travel across multiple states waving maga flags confederate flags stripping down the american flag and replacing it with trump banners meanwhile beating and killing capitol police and forcing their way into the capitol building threatening to murder not only former vice president mike pence but several democratic congress members as well. and you don't just turn the page from that day you don't just wake up one morning and forget the domestic terrorist attack that ship democracy at its core but many republicans expect you to do just
2:49 am
that for get. and the mission is bigger than trial of course his 2nd impeachment is underway and the main topic is his role in inciting the insurrection but what made so many people gravitate towards his brand of populism trumps our radek behavior conspiracy theories came with this claimers and were flagged by twitter long before he was ultimately banned but that didn't stop his hardcore followers from drinking the kool-aid what is it about trump that made him such a threat to democracy and his violence so pervasive here to answer that and more is forensic psychiatrist by lance expert and the president of the world mental health coalition dr bendingly. hello welcome doctor. you know for a problem they don't let me know where we're really excited to have a former president donald trump can be called many things but we know that few things are certain he was a master manipulator he understood the desires of a population that needed to bill in eyes or other people to find an enemy and he
2:50 am
has a lasting following what do you think contributed to trump success and why is his following so loyal and dedicated despite his lies in the insurrection. well mental health professionals have known from the start that she would be very dangerous with presidential powers that having a mentally impaired person with severe symptoms and an influential office would allow his symptoms to spread and that is essentially what we are seeing with his followers many people believe that he is a master strategist and that he is. somehow brilliant in his ability to. gather a following but actually mental symptoms can do so far more effectively and almost infectiously in ways that go beyond any rational strategy so these are
2:51 am
the dangers that we see. no and warned that without intervention that his dangers would spread and erupt and that is what we saw on january 6th when you say the mental. issues that you saw what were those issues that you're saw in the in the former president and when the mental health industry experts 1st start kind of seeing them grow was before you ever was a lockdown or was it like a career after or one about come about and what were those issues. yes many people who are speaking up since before the election and i gathered a group of the most nations must renounce psychiatry at yale school of medicine in early 2017 to speak about the ethics of our speaking out and we decided at that time that we had a professional ethical duty to speak up about the dangers that we saw and
2:52 am
subsequently published our assessment in the dangerous case of donald trump this was in late 2017 but you probably have not heard much from of us because in early 2018 just when we were raising the topic to the number one issue of national conversation the american psychiatric association acting as an arm of the government. intervened and called us unethical stopped us from having any input with the major media and so we were relegated to the sides but everything that we warned against has happened almost as if on schedule. and dr you were an integral part of the book the dangerous case of donald trump where 27 psychiatry is a mental health experts assess the president you and your colleagues analyze trauma his behavior and his overall mental state what were some of your keep bindings and how you think that influenced his administration. yes we are. that he was very
2:53 am
dangerous and in. in ways that were violence prone meaning he was verbally aggressive he boasted about sexual assaults he incited violence among his followers he time to. alight and animations including nuclear powers and these are all signs of danger that he showed before his inauguration but we warned especially after his inauguration because now he had presidential powers also he showed characteristics of impulsivity detachment from reality having to brandish a sense of self to make up for his inner. sense of inadequacy and worthlessness. you know it's interesting because you know how can how can the
2:54 am
united states kind of move forward because you know look if you're you know that the rules for running for office are that if you're a citizen and you're over certain ages that you could run for office in the form of people vote for you you can you can you can be elected and i think those rules are very strong and they're good and should stay but there is a certain like you say there's a danger of what happens when you elect somebody who is mentally unfit or mentally unstable to hold office how can the united states kind of rid itself of the cult of trump or you know is it baked into the kind of collective psyche of the country now that we're going to with the we always kind of go towards these narcissistic strongman types in our leaders. well certainly mental pathology in politics can be very dangerous and so when a country is mired in parties and. strikes then it is important to have incurred from experts and so even though we don't have a method of screening. for mental fitness unlike any i. their job or position that
2:55 am
deals with life and death matters in the country because every military officer law of law enforcement officers and those who handle nuclear weapons have to go through its density psychological screening before they ever take their job but we don't have that for elected officials so the least that we could have is for experts to be able to speak when there are signs of danger and we have a professional responsibility to society not just to private patients and this is what the american psychiatric association blocked. in a sense to protect its federal funding and so to remove this kind of corruption and interference to allow. access to extra tese for the public just as they have access to tax would go a long way in allowing sell through currently we've taken away
2:56 am
a lot of power from the people essentially by not only blocking access to valid information but spreading distance from nation and essentially using psychological tactics to. suppress them and to gain power that is truly incredible dr bradley i want to thank you for coming on the show today and really educating our guests on what happened to you and in this book and what you observed in our former president hope we can use the information that you present there to help us tell the lines we do not make this mistake again thank you so much dr. thank you so much for having me. all right that is our show for you today remember in this world not of the whole of us are told that we are loved enough so i tell you all i love you i am tired roland and i'm a nice across keep on watching those hawks have a great day and night everybody. is
