but what does set this president apart is the emphasis on what could be called weaponized empathy this administration has been braced awoke is the genda and all of the visions that come with this agenda. to discuss these issues and more i'm joined by my guests michael johns in philadelphia he has a co-founder of the u.s. tea party movement and a former white house speechwriter to president george h.w. bush in los angeles we have jamie right she is founder of the right employment lawyers and a political pundit and in oakland we have justin robert young he is host of the politics politics politics pod cast are across up rules in effect that means you can jump in anytime you want and i always appreciate it ok let's go to philadelphia 1st michael i think it's widely held that you know that the biden ministration has gotten off to a slow start hasn't got a lot of its appointments and they did go through the the senate was time was taken
3:31 pm
up with the impeachment the 2nd one promises like $2000.00 checks materialize but the there's been a lot of commentary about the kind of woke us that gender that is coming out of this administration it's more important about someone's background than their abilities and there's a real stress on that and playing with words no longer using illegal alien which is a legal term ok it's a legal term to a non-citizen is this a substitute for policy michel. it certainly seems i think you're correct in the sense that it's been driving both the agenda of the personnel on the culture of the administration which is unfortunate because you know it was where we feel the the methodology is an act of welcome the election it was nonetheless close election the country is essentially the country i think is a real it's the ideological predispositions and affiliations and they haven't
3:32 pm
really taken the steps that you would think any steps really to to bring about this sort of unification or any even hinted approach toward an effort in that direction as bryant park about on his inaugural address and i think that's contributed demonstrably to a continued a religion and supported as independents and ultimately going to be an issue that's going to confront this ministration that they don't have the popular mandate to be able to ask you in a legislative way. jamie same question to you jump and i think it really just depends on who you're talking about i think the defense secretary was that although he's a he's an african-american male he has the experience and the expertise i think it depends on who you ask there are some progressives who just absolutely say you know what it doesn't matter he's made not the ceremonious people color he's still not pushing our agenda and that's what the democratic base and i think that's also
3:33 pm
happening with some of those who are in the center saying you know what let's see what happens in the 1st 100 days are. a little slow but some of that is based on time and circumstance well i mean jamie maybe that name one sapir and it's is is something i suppose i mean if that's something that is important to you but you know i look at all of these people they're all from the same professional manager ariel class i mean the secretary of defense came from ray be i'm going to say i mean i think that that's when i look at you know i look at you know what who what politics they're pushing you know who are they a lobbyist for i mean those are i think a far more germane things then if someone writes me tweets which i could care less about i care about policy here right now just go ahead just and jump it. biden's 1st 100 days are going to be almost entirely defined publicly and i think in terms of his stature in d.c. on whether or not they get through this reconciliation maneuver for the kobe 1000
3:34 pm
bill nothing else is going to matter yes he certainly did more executive actions then trump or obama did in this period of time i think that's an escalating thing that's going to continue to go no matter which party is in the white house has got power and has moved to the executive branch yes it is kind of duplicitous to go out and say oh bipartisan bipartisan heal the nation heal the nation and now we're going to do a cover of 19 bill but what we the 1st that has no input from the other party bought whether it's $1400.00 or 2000 that. getting to the penny slide which looks likely will now because they're going to disappoint the progressives on not sticking up with a bit minimum wage is going to be how he's the one. you know michael again going back to this kind of weaponized empathy that for me that's a strategy it's a it's a it's actually a distraction for the same reasons that justin just said because you know and that means it least rhetorically you keep the progressives happy but you're not making
3:35 pm
them happy policy wise i mean i think at the end of day most people would not want a policy then this of virtue signaling. was going to be part of the issue and know we have this very large constituency that is not a partisan one crossed democrats in presidents my republicans were trying to call the forgotten man and woman and the progressive agenda i think a decade or 2 decades ago who had a much closer wish unfair with unions and working people who are not rooted working men and women are or aren't identifying with identity politics and you know all of their subdivisions of the electorate according to necessity or general or religion and i think you are on target about were the point in the evolution of the country where. the identity of these individuals and when it's
3:36 pm
where not only means well even more in the midst we've been through all of these personnel. i think correctly pointed out or it is policy it will to the whip or to bend. the american people and these constituencies that. you know considerable issue no secret in this country nor will the religion of leadership in inner city ins great country what i'm grits and. jamie i mean going back to the. you know genuflecting 2 virtues signalling and all of that i mean a lot of these things like dealing with trends and transgenderism gender and sports and things like that you know you know from what i can tell that's not the position that the administration is taking that's not a majority area and position in the country i mean you know i understand it just seems out of the right i mean this whole thing with executive orders unfortunately
3:37 pm
i think that's what it's going to be that way always going forward as the country remains so deeply divided but it's a good politics to try to make these past these things through executive order and instead of dealing with you know what let the politicians in the house and the senate hashcash it out because then you have kind of recourse you can argue you can negotiate but these are it's very. executive order driven if it's not good taking into consideration other opinions is that a fair thing to ask go ahead and i don't think you necessarily but i also understand why he's doing it i mean he's trying to back some of his campaign promises with action of these are the things that i'm going to do in my 1st 100 days and he other thing that really are getting here is that there is an opinion that most americans are paying attention to the intricacies of policy the way maybe you and i are they like. straw man arguments they like church terribly lights needs that light things that appear to be appealing to our emotions so that way we don't
3:38 pm
be attention a little bit to what's happening on the legislative front because you know what reliance that is dragged or that there can't be a consensus for that we're not doing anything to have the 2 parties i think that some of the trouble of course it should be with our legislative body absolutely but it's not going to happen well in just a minute and up until that time it does happen people are going to get very very angry mame very divided i mean i i think people should have a say on these things here these are very important things and you know it goes bang and people talk about norms and values and all that but a lot of people's values and norms are are not being listened to when i think that this is very dangerous i mean it seems to me that you know the democrats they see that they have an 18 month window and they're just going to do everything they all their wish list to get everything done it if they have to build to a 2 executive order which will look very authoritarian to the other side the other half of the country just you know i think that there's a very interesting thing at play here and that is when obama was leaving he did an
3:39 pm
interview with mark marin on his podcast read described change from the president's position as slowly turning a ship that all you can really do is turn it a few degrees donald trump comes in and i think that this is a lot more complicated when you get into the weeds on this but from a public perception standpoint did a lot of very facts that was the narrative that he is radically changing things that america is far different 12 hours. now than it was 12 hours ago and so biden has to come in and on some level match that speed he can't come in and give the the obama line of well i'm just going to slowly turn that ship a few degrees as far as the reality of trying to get stuff through congress. number one you actually kind of need in a highly divided government you need 2 very competent well organized parties because nothing really gets done unless they both fear each other we have not
3:40 pm
necessarily seen that sometimes the democrats been weaker like they were under trump and now the republicans can't seem to get their stuff together the best thing that you could possibly say going forward is that now they're bringing back earmarks because if they can't agree with each other maybe they can at least bribe each other well then will it but if they. fear each other maybe it's been replaced they hate each other ok i mean when you i mean that but that's a terrible politics to have you know calling a member of congress that you know a potential terrorists are almost potential murderer all that i mean that kind of discourse is just shows that politics is as it has no place in our in our society more i think that's what you know having deplorable xin you know and castigating 75000000 people that's not good politics and then all of these executive orders here i mean i just i and i need to turn this to michael i just find that to be very alienating and we'll talk a little bit later in the 2nd part of the program about joe biden's mental acuity
3:41 pm
which is kind of adding compounding is these perceptions here go ahead mike if you go through these now over 40 years and syria needs. that. you know tens of millions of americans voted for with and they're not they're not the things that he discussed in the debates with trauma are not things that he build any grassroots support for and the predominant reason of being done by executive order is you couldn't get through congress. should essentially removing border security or reinstall and catch and release policies that are building up illegal. immigrant presence in this country very destructive some these steps like allowing china to invest in our electrical grid system one of the 1st words he signed a very peculiar head scratching initiatives for which there's no grass or not only
3:42 pm
is there no grass roots of poor but there's just the fire and in an extraordinary national security concerns for those who've witnessed it so it's an agenda that certainly was executed given the house and fast order. and methodically and pretty thought out but it's also one that you look at and so that even people who voted for missing words my $2000.00 check for for the. coded relief they're not looking for these were of initiatives and in fact at a time when we got millions of americans out of the workplace to say the book the energy steps and the immigration steps are ones are going to ultimately be destructive. to economic development job creation which is. jamie it's interesting very much agree with it michael i mean we started out the administration is moving slow but in other ways it's moving very very fast is that because of just special interest groups i think that some of it i think the
3:43 pm
substance portions which are. there's an awareness that they're just not going to be able to get that through congress however we also have to look at a little bit trying to pursue. migrants but you can you buy health and human services you know the response has been kind of german i ask because we don't have or cents in place but some of these are. the impeachment trial so we've got to do something i could jump in here we're going to go to a short break and after a short break we'll continue our discussion on the buy diminish nation state party . that. didn't do anything.
3:44 pm
kind of. inner. you don't consume don't even can do it on their own the stand on the will soon in that are equal tony jones is also into what he calls a stance. don't need to tell him to. move it up to those all. those groups going to. push for all. the furniture motion. in the early 1970 s. helmet a psychologist and fix only just proposed to the west but incentive to social experiment he wanted to live paedophiles and down to jaffa neglected boys experiment was

3:46 pm
you we're discussing the beginnings of the bike in ministration. ok let's go back to jamie jamie you know what role do you think it just point in time and biden's early administration are special interest playing because when i look at some of these executive orders just like what michael said he said this was a campaign dom of that i remember. i think i have a lot. of special interests are driving a lot of executive orders i think some of it like i was saying has absolutely nothing to do with the campaign promises particularly because i think those campaign promises are better our legislative action it's easier to get executive orders because of the power that he's sorry but you have to consider that for instance health human services secretary is not place and a great relief response will be coming that apartment but some of that has been
3:47 pm
held up. trial and some of the other trying to do so we have to consider that as well but interestingly enough when i look in my time i've got many people saying well you know what you can't it's the minimum wage you can't get it's $2000.00 stimulus. can do some of these are things but you know what you can bomb syria well i'm. completely agree with you absolutely and i mean i was i'm going to bring up foreign policy but i'm glad she did ok and i don't really want to waste time on the whole pot prosy of all of the chattering classes about it he just infuriates me you're just you know you can't do this you can't do that men are not like that means you don't understand help politics work ok that's an excuse i'm amazed the number of times the democrats get power and then they all of a sudden have excuses not to do things not that they want them to do things but it's a way to excuse their favor to go you know we can't do it you know it's not possible ok this is why i find this inquiry what i do also find in theory justin is this. really has nothing to do with that 90 percent of the budget money that's being
3:48 pm
outed has anything to do with kobe and so much of the money will be spent in 202220232024 i mean i find this infuriating ok we these thing there's so and there's a lot of money that's going into foreign aid as well not aid at home ok and that $2000.00 check the asco i mean you know if i'm sorry if this had been trump and he'd made the promise and he didn't fulfill it he wouldn't he would have gotten a huge black backlash here so i really hate when they say we can't do this it's nonsense go ahead well look i agree that misses in many ways a dog old there is a tremendous amount of money for things that have nothing to do with coping relief including here in the bay area $100000000.00 for bay area rapid transit routes look the part is nice and i don't know exactly how much you're going to get those bad but it could sure use a little sprucing up here and again what i would put the pressure on and again to
3:49 pm
go back to the idea that these parties have to fear each other these parties have to be pushing each other if there is going to be any kind of bipartisan a back and forth i really do blame the disorganization of a. republican party for not framing this bill far earlier than they wound up doing it it's not mitt romney who is not exactly the lead attack dog historically in terms of conservative philosophy it took him a week before this thing was about to pass in the house for him to write in an editorial in the safe is the ball conservative safe spaces the wall street journal editorial section this is something that they should have been on way before because they were already having that they already had the talking points the last 2 times they tried to negotiate covert relief this always was a gigantic giveaway to certain organizations but you have to make that clear to the public you have to say the reason why this went from $2000.00 to $1400.00 is because these politicians need to paycheck there and they don't want to pay you if
3:50 pm
you're on that side of the argument then you're going to win but the republicans let this one get so far out of the barn because they're as mixed up about trump over the last 2 months as the democrats are trying to hammer this through you know you know michael i mean this is this is this is such a wish list a christmas list i find it really insulting when so many people are suffering in the country when you have had tens of thousands of small businesses destroyed and i don't see them being helped here i see a lot of other things a fine everybody's got their little special needs they would like to give money to and if you're in a position of power if i want a position of power a probably would do it too ok however there is should be prioritized here in the middle class that has suffered most from this pandemic and economic turndown there once and getting the least help when small and small businesses which are you know who you are creating and use in the country and want to hurt economic it will not
3:51 pm
have the access the capital and not have the. credit lines are you know that there were chains who are competitors have had one of the down. it's not just the impact it's going to have on the middle class and you're exactly right as in the the this is a really great country if you're incredibly wealthy you have a great country even if you're incredibly poor there's no better place in where all but it's we have you know these low wage earners this is continues to be a country that struggles we don't have a system that has really created around helping them through what is still one of all being a global economy in this new us and do it and part of that is also just the way we structure congress and how when solution is being developed in the 21st century it's not the liberty of not and there's not enough input from the $572.00 members of congress too much power is no leaders that book parties and book the parties
3:52 pm
themselves forget the obvious partisanship we in the parties we also have 2 parties that are in the ongoing reflection about what they actually dudes were and so now there's dinner parties and you have it michael whitney saying that you know the donors know what they want ok and i would say that that's the problem is well i mean i don't i don't put much stock into politicians or very few of them impressed me very very few of them but you know again you know when when the average senator or representative to spending 85 percent of their time on the phone with donors and not with their constituents i think this is what you get into a plague on both parties here i'm a conservative and everyone that watches this program knows that ok but i will go after the republicans with in equal measure willing as i win with against democrats or i want to bring up a kind of a delicate issue here because it depends on what you where you get your news jamie is i don't know if any of you saw the snippets of trump at sea-tac and i've watched
3:53 pm
you know joe biden's public appearances you have there couldn't be more of a contrast there now of course on m s n b c and c.n.n. they're not going to show you a joe's slip ups ok on fox news they're going to give you every blow by blow ok but you know we should be concerned about it what's the what's a fair way to look at being concerned about joe's state. we can't attack you you know right doesn't know and we will never you know get this leave me just rhetoric kind of talk that or window. the idea of talking about the president's cognitive ability it's twofold on the one hand if you spend a lot of time talking about any there's a fear that he's not able to lead so there's a lack of trust by the american people it also may make our enemies bill little more i'm told him but if we don't address it we ignore the fact that people are there systems and processes in place that can support him through this process i
3:54 pm
think it has to come down to the administration making a choice to be honest about the situation but we're saying there are systems and processes in place to support this president and he's doing fine and we're giving him the tools i mean you accommodate somebody in the workplace in any other workplace and if he needs that maybe that's something that we should discuss but we really don't know if that's a little hard to say i'm talking time and well what i think you're probably talking in a very rationally and charitably and i think that's one of the best answers i got into this whole thing because it impertinent for many people on the right that's a political football that they use as a cudgel i think it's really morally repellent i don't like that but at the same time this is the hardest most horten job in the world justin how much should we be concerned about it. i wish that i had jamie's charity but i i i i am i am a little bit more of
3:55 pm
a mad max man myself when it comes to politics i think bear is the take no prisoners attitude and quite seriously i think that we are just in a court part of our culture a time in our culture where information has been so decentralized that we cannot shape the truth and more sure we can inside of our own families and an organization say that we we want to give x. amount of deference to the president because we think that that is better for our connect. and to our leadership but i don't think that there is a world where you can call 6 friends that run the 6 major newspapers and then they can call the people that run the 3 major television networks and you can shape things in a way that used to happen regularly this is a works in all society i was on the road it's funny i'm getting all these alerts because it all happened about a year ago for the primaries i was in new hampshire when joe biden in a rambling hotel a bizarre campaign stop called a young woman a lying dog faced pony soldier and in that moment i thought that his political
3:56 pm
career was over because of how he was acting and there's a reason why it has south carolina they radically shifted how he went out there and interacted with us than just that he was coronated ok the party decided that he would become the no oh yes and we are we are back to a year ago is when i said that the democratic party called in orders executed order $0.60 everybody dropped out and elizabeth warren stayed in split the progressive vote and that was a fait accompli past that provided but still if we're talking about his mental health. i mean the ship has sailed to a certain extent we knew we was when we elected him any one of you being one of those anybody in it let me go to michael i mean we can explore connecting some dots here i mean come on harris the vice president she's taking calls with foreign
3:57 pm
leaders apparently what's being reported up there's also reports that even some democrats in the house are challenging the president over who controls the nucular codes and things that are they preparing us for something here what did they know they we don't go ahead i was thinking as we watch the president trump speech at the conservative political action conference that the us speculation will be run again in 2024 the chances of trump running again in 2024 i think the minds of most americans are considerably greater than that of biden completing a 4 year term i think and a lot of the issues that we're raising now just as correct about they were campaign issues more than they were leadership issues there's the the issues that you're raising i think we have a question of why was a well we not. you know when the media not more pressing is a related to form disclosure when it was obvious and it still has obvious something not quite right if you follow this guy 47 years in public life and i've certainly
3:58 pm
fault him for a couple decades he is not the man that he was 20 years ago or years ago even 40 years though with and but even with you know kind of all these neurological words as general dementia issues or broad categories of things that are beyond mentally progressive them threatening things that are just more routine to general age and it's sort of unfair to american voters and now it's a leadership question. here but the culprit here in all of this is the media as usual they need to tell us what they know ok because it's very important for everyone and the world that's all that now we have or they are going to lead. and you know what i want to thank our viewers watching and see you next.
