really stay close to find out what is showing where you are. when i was told seemed wrong why don't we all just don't know all. the world is yet to shape out just to become educated and in gaining strength because of the trail. when so many find themselves worlds apart we choose to look for common ground. my distract distract distract you know that is the 1st thing which came to my mind as i read the barrage of government issued press releases regarding everything from sanctions to troop withdrawal and the supreme court it hit my inbox this morning
2:31 pm
now this is with less than 100 days in office the by demonstrations actually facing several fires here at home so i did a show i want to address the major trials americans are facing today and then have a 360 view on the 2 major actions taken regarding foreign policy by this administration in the last 48 hours and what stunning and dangerous talking point from the 2020 campaign trail which is now been exposed as not being true so join me on this adventure i'm scott and no hughes and this is news huge huge and your watching r.t. america. i. listen i don't want to be a show of all of bad news as guess what the day actually started off with some really good news as weekly jobless claims of almost 200000 lower than last week you know this is the lowest since march 2020 and retail sells actually surged past
2:32 pm
expectations as people are actually spending their stimulus checks all great things however these are not directly solve the issues that americans are also facing right at this moment so let's start with what is going on down at the border. according to authorities the u.s. government picked up nearly 90000 children traveling alone across the u.s. mexican border in march moguls going right now traveling with their mom dad or anybody traveling with their mom or dad you know nobody i was here with are going to turn myself into you and they left me behind and i came to look for help you know after this video surfaced a statement from the u.s. customs and border patrol was released saying scenes like this are all too common as smugglers continue to abandon children in desolate areas with 0 regard for their well being and as some adults are turned away from coming into the u.s. it turns out mexico is housing migrants who are attempting to cross again ya know i but it's hard because i longed for the american dream because i have a little girl who is there in maryland she was there 2 years ago but they took her
2:33 pm
from my mother in law and sent her to a shelter in the city of juarez authorities turn to jim into a shelter with a capacity for 400 people as other shelters near the border are maxed out know how to situation is already overwhelmed us in terms of shelters we must have a dignified place to receive them to protect families who are on the streets especially mothers with children who hope president biden appointed vice president gamal harris to oversee the white house's effort in tackling the broader crisis last month the criticism continues to mount harris still has not paid a visit to the southern border instead she will be traveling to guatemala but not the states and the u.s. impacted by the plaguing border issues and to provide a safe and orderly process of asylum seekers at the united states border a new poll from the associated press shows 4 in 10 americans disapprove of how the biden ministration is handling the crisis some say while the trumpet ministration made border security
2:34 pm
a priority they see the current administration's efforts as troubling it's so easy to get across the border illegally and come into destruction carrying whether it be drugs 'd people weapons whatever and i just don't feel that it's the safest thing for the u.s. to do and will bite and supporters may differ on immigration policies some are also questioning the administration's current tactics they don't know what to do. log. and this is war this is what i do so and county officials in southern arizona said the federal government will provide over $2000000.00 to cover the cost of supporting people crossing the us mexico border seeking asylum a facility is currently being constructed to hold 500 people. now u.s. authorities reported more than 100000 encounters on the southern border in february and as more children are crossing by themselves than ever before the biden administration has asked for nasa employees to help assist them at that just ahead
2:35 pm
facilities while natasha thank you so much for bringing us this and bring us up to date you know all of this is going on while a democrat lawmakers present legislation to expand the supreme court from $9.00 to $13.00 justices a move which honestly seems to not be coordinated with the speaker of the house as speaker pelosi was quick to say because what she does not support this bill and will not bring it to the floor she does however support president biden's a study commission on the issue of give us the $360.00 view of the action at the border as well as expanding the supreme court we bring in ed martin president eagles and sarah palin tonio associate attorney at 11 pepin tonio and rafferty i got it right this time sarah get it you know 2nd time makes it perfect thank you so much for joining us thanks for having me sarah i want to start with you seeing that you are an attorney do you think there is a legitimate argument right now for expanding the supreme court that has absolutely
2:36 pm
nothing to do with the political ideology of the court. tony there really isn't you know in my opinion this is a constitutional principle that you really don't want to mess with it and i think the democrats at least some of them understand that you know they have to see how extending or could backfire on them if we do i didn't expand the court i'm to see democratic ideology what happens when the next person comes into office they do the exact same thing right and then little by real you start to feel it in my supreme court so you can't just open the door to major changes in the court like it's because it has long term effects and ultimately will affect the value supreme court decision which is exactly what i think a lot of republicans and democrats are saying you know at elections have consequences though this should not be a surprise. and the democratic party wanted to change the political makeup of the court saying that trump was able to appoint 3 of justices so what are the republicans you think going to do differently this time to stop this from actually happening and be able to achieve
2:37 pm
a win because they've not really been able to do that yet with this administration well one observation a scout it's very important for people to realize on the left they have achieved most of the major victories on policy through the courts you can start with roe v wade and go all the way through oberkfell you can look at the supreme court striking down donald trump's efforts to do things on doc and other things so the courts are where the left tries to win because the public doesn't want the stuff that they're doing and i think that's why you're seeing it's really a split we don't republicans and conservatives don't have to do much right now that we should be wary and aware because palosi doesn't want it biden doesn't want it biden posi did what is the the swamp thing to do when you don't want something to happen in the swamp you say you're for it then start a blue ribbon commission and let it die let it die over in the in the swamp but what happened what problem for blowsy is ayos see and old madeleine or and all these guys have to pay off the base and by the way what's not being talked about is
2:38 pm
schumer is pushing this because schumer is worried about the. primaried in new york by a o c or one of our people so the i've said this for a long time scotty the civil war in the parties is in the democrat party a l c versus biden it's not in the republican party which is trumps party but in this case all you have to do is keep saying over and over f.d.r. packed the courts and he lost a miserably and joe biden and his team will let it happen so that's why we're where this is a story meant to placate the progressives sees people that schumer pushed it's not a real issue it's not going to happen and it's not going anywhere well and that i can believe it to be a checkbox issue but you know there is a real issue that is happening at the thout the border sarah to you on this vice president comma harris is going to go visit the countries we're making deals with but she's not going to the border self tell me why. well you know i think the border crisis is such a pressing issue right now but the and the administration they know it but they're trying not to draw too much attention to it and that's probably because they don't
2:39 pm
necessarily have a solution and i mean understand like we heard there were nearly 20000 unaccompanied children at the border last month and everywhere there were 10000 unaccompanied children obviously a serious problem is these children are now at risk of being trafficked killed you i mean just atrocities so these these children who are roaming in rome trying to find some kind of salvation we have a real problem on our hands and the administration knows it but they're ignoring it and they don't want people to know about it and they don't have a solution to this point and that's when i saw an ad that the think there was a lot of attention given to obviously these videos have gotten out of originally they were just rumors and then they were confirmed but the bottom is tracie now that it continues to kind of downplay what is happening and it seems as though they're trying to disperse as many migrants around the country you know i found a very alarming that we see that nasa employees as well as employees of other government are being asked to volunteer and the border patrol actually cover their salaries i don't think i've ever heard of that happening before i think that
2:40 pm
screams that there's a little bit more of a problem than what we're being led on what do you make of these other government departments being asked to pitch in you know well look i mean 1st of all we should acknowledge that it's a humanitarian crisis of the 1st order we have young children being sent to the sec sent up to the border to organized crime the policy is send us your children through organized crime who deal drugs and sex trafficking so how this should be a crisis but the way to solve it is to to seal up the border and stop messing around but let me go back to something scottie kamel harris was identified by the president of states as the new leader on this problem and within 2 days her advisor simone sanders said and i quote kamel is not going to do the border she's not going down there she knows it's a disaster for her political career look the biden ship is. sinking under the weight of the immigration problem but they don't mind they're not solving it you know why because as the millions flood in and it's not tens of thousands it's
2:41 pm
millions flood in they want this problem in our borders because we the people we're not mean people when you get here we have a hard time being hard and mean to our fellow american fellow neighbor not fellow american our fellow human being and that's what they're counting on so this is a disaster designed by biden managed by biden ongoing by biden and calm liars just try to step away as fast as she can it's very easy seal the border make the mexicans and guatemalans military stop the influx whether the biden administration will do it or not it seems like they're too busy distracting with things like you know sanctions and other stuff but don't be fooled the american people are going to vote in 2022 on this failure and it will be an absolute dominant issue in that election cycle but that's the thing as you just said that sounds very common but it hasn't been done yet neither party has actually taken those steps to solve it because this is well a new issue that we've had no no the trial of the drug administration is rising right yeah he tried but also he did get the guatemalans on hondurans and mexicans
2:42 pm
to slow the fight it was a long lasting and far away to be honest i mean is that even possible to think is that on a realistic to think that we could have a long term plan by one president that's carried over by another president. well the problem is this when you have certain things in place for instance i know i had a migration action protocol in place which proved to be slightly you know successful for the time beating which was overturned you know just recently when you have a kind of influx of a different policies there's no consistency with as a thing are we so what i understand right now are that if we have this if we actually have a solution that it doesn't matter just for the sake of i don't want to give that last party a when we're going to turn over i hate that we're in that type of society today but i guess that's politics ed sarah thank you so much for joining me thank you for. that very return it was a 4th night of violence and protesting in minnesota this time even those who were
2:43 pm
meant to just cover the story actually became a part of the story does it go with the job our own john heidi who has been known to go into a few tense situations in his life joins us with this perspective and we're going to get 360 view after the break. western governments and western media betrayed the tensions within ukraine as a conflict involving russia and ukraine this is false there is a road map to resolve ukraine's internal strife and it's called the minsk accords russia is not the problem but nato expansion is. today the industry prefers to spend millions of you know the.
2:44 pm
pieces i will be sniffing all about making money making profits in some of the corporations international markets import export do you imagine the number of printing diseases in every community then it is not due to new viruses all new microbes that's not true so it is due to. their momentum to simply. accumulate could only come in to be seen though to be. deployed. if the so food industry is successful it will create more jobs it will create more value added it will create more growth so i don't see why we shouldn't also fight for the interest something into st cloud said that we are british and we want regulation i was in just belief we don't behave any aspinall to just fine.
2:45 pm
it was the 4th night of unrest in the streets of brooklyn center as the protesters clashed once again with police following the fatal shooting of dante wright and the crowd does not seem to be calming down this is the trial for derek shave and will deliver closing arguments on monday keeping the environment very unstable as to what is going to happen after the verdict is delivered this is only 10 miles down the road in minneapolis but not only there but also major cities around the united
2:46 pm
states now the stories deserve coverage but last night several different journalist and their crews became a part of the story camera crew members for c.n.n. were attacked during a black lives matter protest and a group of journalists were also detained a large group by the minute minneapolis place for more than an hour so you get a little perspective on what it is like on the ground covering situations like this we bring in our own john heidi who has been known for reporting from a dangerous situations and has covered protests in the past which have turned violent here at home not so violent right now in miami you kind of have a little bit of a little bit of a broadcast vacation you've earned it over the years but when you see the kind of footage that we have of the c.n.n. crew who are getting you know obviously attacked for this and you hear the various stories of reporters being accosted assaulted is it fair to say guess what this just goes with the job unfortunately these days yeah it does it does i was
2:47 pm
a reporter you know this in new york for close to 10 years i was a journalist simon reporter for the fox affiliate of you and why don't you t.v. i cover major blood of big stories including occupy wall street and for me being a fox affiliated with fox in new york i was not a very i pod you were both right and so basically on a daily basis i expected to get verbal e. assaulted and i was as we were talking i was physically assaulted several times. i was threatened at occupy wall street guy threatened cut me you know slice my throat had a shank guy was arrested we had on video in another case i was literally punched in the face by by some crazy guy who didn't like the fact that we were recording an interview on the sidewalk so i was used to that happening in this is going back almost 15 years now so before any of this stuff going on yeah i've been there and done that it's unfortunate it happens and i've often joked that as a foreign correspondent i felt safer in many parts of the middle east than i did in
2:48 pm
many parts of brooklyn and no disrespect to brooklyn i long for oakland but the point being is that sometimes when you represent or are affiliated with a certain media outlet now more than ever because of the anger and distrust of the media and the polarization of what we call the mainstream media here in the united states the anger that we see on the streets is not only directed sometimes brightly or police but it's directed at the media as well it's kind of you'll kill the messenger and i think if they feel justified in it they feel like this is justified and taking up because that there is so much distress there is so much hate as compared to usually brought if you were attacked it was probably by accident they didn't realize that that was where a journalist was set out or was just as sidebar whether it might be more directed in this case sometimes look if you're in the scrum right if you're covering a riot or a major protests and clashes break out and you're in the middle of it if the police come through there with batons or they start firing tear gas rubber bullets and you
2:49 pm
happen to get it well you know ok you're in the scrum you are there otherwise what i've always done with my crews is i try to stay back i'll try to interview people but i don't want to put myself or more importantly my crew in a dangerous position however sometimes that's just the nature of covering stories like that they do get you know they can get contentious and volatile and you it's your job to be there to cover the story now when i. see the video and the images of the c.n.n. people look there are some reporters that i think do need to. announce and i don't know how much you know but some i'm like are a good yet chase that change that they get out there and what they've said in the past obviously the unfairness of it and look there are some outlets that are very to create a problem that are there to spin it or twist it and that's part of the problem for the fair and accurate and honest journalists it gives everybody a bad name and it creates that it just creates that increasingly hostile
2:50 pm
environment an attitude towards the press and yeah i've been on the receiving end well and it's kind of become blurred the difference between an activist and a journalist and i get that journalists have opinions but now we have activist out there you're right sometimes you do see cases in that sense a lot is actually true for identifying are you media or not that being said do you think we talk about law enforcement need to have training obviously to deal with the people that they were that they are supposed to protect but with journalists sometimes the police don't necessarily help either they like we saw last friday put them all in cages for an hour a chat the last thing that actually i think raises a red flag that what the plates are doing they don't want people to know do they need special training better on how to handle journalist and the media yes i think so and when i was when i was a journalist in new york i was asked sometimes to speak with law enforcement agencies about how to do that exactly about how to deal with the media and what we've seen more recently our law enforcement agencies and police specifically
2:51 pm
targeting the media that doesn't help that just fuel the overall anger that's that emotional contagion that's being felt in these situations so the tactical aspects of how the police deal with not only this not only the immunity but also the media sure that that's part and parcel of it you know and i also the other aspect of this you know we're dare to cover these stories we're. very to give a platform to people that have a right to speak that want to say something they're going to get it and janet or you buy the house they're out there because the rightly so in many cases they are there to to make something better to ensure or to bring you know attention to something and just so when i'm covering a story you know like occupy wall street i want to use an example when i'm surrounded and shouted down by people you know what i would do i would just hold the mike up and i'd say i'm here so that everybody else can hear you so you're not
2:52 pm
doing yourself any good by shutting me down or attacking my photographer and that is why it's such an honor to work alongside i have a colleague if you like you have that integrity thank you john how did you scotty. now i do want to end today show talking about the latest round of sanctions at the bottom ministration has just imposed on russia and they're blaming it on a major hacking operation in interference in the 2020 election so the announcement of sanctions to come at the same time u.s. intelligence is having to walk back a major issue as you remember for the 2020 campaign so this was a claim that the kremlin was paying up militants to kill the remaining u.s. forces in afghanistan now that was back in june months later actually almost a year later the truth has come out as a senior administration official says u.s. intelligence only had low to moderate confidence in the story when it was released the information to actually have been given from a detaining reporting and probably from some one time there after jail or what they
2:53 pm
thought they needed to be heard in order to get out of the cage and a press conference on thursday president biden did claim that he has eyeing a deescalation with russia the united states is not looking to call for. school is she in conflict with russia we want a stable predictable relationship continues you know if you're of our democracy i'm prepared to take further actions to respond. it is my responsibility as pretty united states to do so the united states is unwavering in our support of our allies and partners in europe in that vein i expressed concern about russia's military buildup on ukraine's border and occupied and occupied crimea i affirmed u.s. support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of ukraine and i strongly urge frame from any military action now is the time to deescalate. as about what it always is discuss these recent events as well as the withdrawal of
2:54 pm
afghanistan we bring in dana mcadams executive director of at the iran institute oh i could do a whole show just on the last probably 12 hours of what is going on but i want to start obviously with these federal reserve and the federals are actually jumping in on the russian saying should business class crush my head with this when do you think they are actually trying to involve themselves in the current situation and add pressure along the united states happening between ukraine and russia just another way to kind of get our nose involved. well we're told ole long of course that the federal reserve is not a political tool it's not a political institution it's only there to guarantee our security of our money and you know the economy well that's about as true as you know the russian invasion of ukraine and 2014 you know it's not true of course it's being used as a weapon as well being weaponized against russia and in fact i think today's round of sanctions really look more like economical warfare against russia when when
2:55 pm
you're attacking the ruble trying to take down the ruble you're actually committing acts of war against the other country ironically the dollar is going down too so it's not having the desired effect but you know they're certainly being used as tools in this well and that's the question of all of that you know sometimes sometimes we are politicians speak a lot but the actual meat of the conversation you know how effective or ineffective do you think these sanctions are going to be not only to russia but obviously the effects around around the world. well it depends on your perspective i'm sure the neo cons in the united states in washington and in the biden administration you know people like victoria nuland are thrilled they'll think they'll have a great effect because they will keep this but this summit from having i mean that i would say right now the vital foreign policy team is in a shambles they've made some extremely extremely serious unforced errors over the past week or so 1st they encouraged ukrainians they delivered hundreds of tons of weapons they say hey we got your back we got your back wink wait don't you want
2:56 pm
crimea back you don't you want you know to pacify the dog best what have you and then when it gets close and russia says listen we're serious this time this is a 214 this is a different game if you are going to bring your ships in the black sea you'd be smart to not do it and and this is where are the u.s. turned around it doesn't seem like jake soul of a knows what he's doing is a national security advisor and it really is if it weren't so serious and so potentially deadly right it would almost be a laugh but it is deadly and serious and that's why i think people have to understand obviously things escalate ng possibly between russia and ukraine i just don't know what good this does and the timing of it obviously is very suspicious i also talk about suspicious also came out today i know you remember back in june and i'm sure you were questioned i was question on it about the russians actually were out there that had been from the kremlin to actually put bounties on american soldiers had that was a huge campaign talking point the white house tonight it biden did press conferences on it how do you feel that now is coming out that that really wasn't
2:57 pm
true and we knew it all along from the intelligence community isn't that a legend or. what's more shocking than that is it actually made its way into the white house statement on the same sions this is a bogus story we've known for a long time it's a bogus story a general mckenzie said way way back last year that we really cannot corroborate this claim but somehow it's sort of like how the case against trump for this. impeachment included the then knowingly false story that the supporters had beat a capitol hill police officer over the head with a fire extinguisher they knew it was bogus and they used it anyway they knew this was bogus they use it anyway what i would say is that the reason they do this is because they simply have no evidence of anything the solar winds the russian interference in the elections cetera et cetera there's just no there there so they're just making it up as they go along and that's what kind of makes me understand why the american people have so much like
2:58 pm
a trust if they've been wrong on everything and today you're having them twice themselves in trying to explain why they push this narrative that they're not generally good job of except think the american people could say to you daniel mcadams always great to see you we will bring you back on as we continue to talk about the withdrawal of the troops in afghanistan and if it's really going to happen all right thanks cutting. well that's all the time we have for today show we know your time is extremely precious and we want to make sure that we give you the best 30 minutes of news possible without any distractions and more i encourage you to download the portable t.v. app on your android an apple device and let's continue this conversation on social media i always enjoy your feedback thanks for watching.
