6:30 am
spending over $2000000000.00 on the influence and control of our elected officials according to a newly released study by americans for financial reform during the 20192020 election cycle wall street alone spent at least $2900000000.00 on campaign contributions and lobbying to influence policy in washington that's almost $3000000000.00 my friends that shatters the previous record set all the way back in 2016 and amounts to roughly $4000000.00 spent a day but the financial sectors influence on the 20 twentieth's elections could actually be even higher because when you include the $1500000000.00 in dark or 1050000000 dollars in dark money that was poured into the 2020 federal elections from sources on the phones we don't even know how much wall street is spent and apparently wall street's brand of political but bribery knew the end of the trump
6:31 am
era was near as common dreams reports that quote the majority of the campaign contributions from wall street went to democratic candidates with democrats taking 53 percent of the donations more than 74000000 alone was given to joe biden's campaign make no mistake it's not the american people in charge of washington d.c. it's the will of wall street and those with wealth and means and that is why we are always watching this. on a cd you st you want to. see. this is your state. graves see this least systemic deception is a late show which. some feel as. well going to watching the hawks i robot and i would be surprised. we're talking
6:32 am
2900000000 spent just by wall street in the 2020 elections that's not including the pharmaceutical into i mean that leaves out a whole lot of others just wall street and by manchu of businesses and business interests this is the american voter have a chance at all in being heard or listened to when going up against that kind of campaign money i mean i would like to say but i feel like they are advocates the arms that we see that are you know the result of activism in the street where we are seeing some movement in terms of legislation from from congress or at least pushing pushing towards it from congress the upset i have is that this isn't a new story this is a lot more money than we're typically used to hearing but wall street coming together and pushing both sides throwing and bundling money to basically hedge their bets on whether the republican or the democratic presidential candidate is going to win that's not a new story and even with the money that you just you know the estimates that you just gave there are perspective to double come been exploited into election even in
6:33 am
the midterms we're going to see a lot of that type of movement so these corporations aren't backing down and wall street isn't either no they're not you know who agrees with you actually as lisa doner of the executive director of the americans for financial reform she stated that year in and year out this torrent of money gives wall street an outsized role in how we are governed while driving and protecting policies that help the industry superwealthy of mass even greater fortunes at the expense of the rest of the rest of us year in and year out we know the story i said it's an old story we know that song and dance but when you're talking about 2.9. william and like you said it's getting higher that's scary plus you can break down where some of that money went to and it wasn't like i mentioned as democrats got the bulk of it wall street predicted the trump was on his way out so let's put a bunch of money into joe and the democrats interestingly the individuals in this entities associated with the financial sector reported making about 44000004900000 in contributions to the 8 republican senators and 38000000 to the 139 house members
6:34 am
who voted to overturn the election so they even got in on that again was saying hey why not let's give money to them too it's incredible when you really start breaking all of this down and i want to jump down so you can see the top 5 wall street political contributors were bloomberg number one at 157000000 national association of realtors got a real estate inside that that was 154000000 far l.l.c. which is tom styer that was 70000000 citadel 69 and the ever wonderful blackstone group 49000000 all handed out to politicians. i mean a member of the supreme court case corporations are people do that at the end of the day the fight to get money out of politics is honestly a fight that neither democrats or republicans want to win because it funnels their campaign that funnels the the system of government that we have where these corporations are essentially not only lobbying for themselves and their causes but
6:35 am
they're holding they're holding a lot over the heads of these elected officials and it makes me wonder which are the 8 that were actually you know lobbied in terms of the crazy caucus who assumed that this election was going to be overturned in 2020 but those people still have a very strong voice and we're seeing the new lies that across the country so i can't necessarily say the investment there was wrong i there. it's a great point you know it really makes me sad when i hear that as i think about there are so many people in this country who either don't have the means or the wrong skin color come from the wrong background who don't have that kind of power that money. when you mention that citizens united decision was different you know corporations essentially political rights in this country it's sad that we live in a world where corporations to me at least seem like they have more rights than most individuals living in the united states today oh it doesn't seem that way they do. for the republican party leaders are putting on quite a show when their post political lives former speaker of the house john boehner is
6:36 am
making a full 180 and calling out the kooks in the crazies in his own party how their belief systems made it difficult to move any bipartisan legislation forward in the hurdles they posed today due to their white supremacy racism and a penchant for conspiracy theories the news you couldn't pay him to call these folks out while he actually was in a position of power to do it instead he allowed their beliefs their toxicity and their isolation as idiology to move forward needless to say boehner has also a large back to installing progress on landmark health care reform gay marriage rights gun reforms he would like us to forget while he pursues the number one slot on the new york times best seller list and in that same vein former president george w. bush wants us to reinvigorate his leadership as well in his retirement bush is doing a lot more than painting he's lobbying for bipartisan immigration reform this comes on the heels of calls for current u.s. president joe biden to do more about the surge at the us mexico border in his
6:37 am
recent change of course on the trump air refugee camp in an op ed for the washington post bush advocated for a pathway to citizenship for immigrants in the deferred action for childhood arrivals daca program bush still opposes a pathway to citizenship for the estimated 11000000 undocumented immigrants are going their citizenship should be and must be earned he list work requirements and service requirements as well as proof of english language proficiency as prerequisites bush is no stranger to immigration reform policy it was a key factor in his own reelection campaign but he was unable to pass any substantive reforms because he couldn't get it through his own party. perhaps the most welcome part of bush's most recent engagement in immigration reform conversation is shown in the following statement. i hope i can help set a tone that is more respectful about the immigrant which may lead to one of the system. will we will see a fellow republicans are willing to see the humanity of immigrants and change their
6:38 am
hateful rhetoric if current makeup of congress tells us anything bush's hopes are misplaced. man i couldn't agree more with the last statement because let's be real right now too many people run in with. stoke fear they may like it when we when we play in stereotypes we like it when we hate each other because that's what get some real elected every year to get some you know us mad at each other rather than looking at their record no you're absolutely right i think that you know inherent in his belief about changing the tone and rhetoric is a full on misunderstanding or just a just a willful ignorance as it relates to the tradition of the current republican party won it which has used anti immigrant sentiment not only to fundraise but also to increase their residence at the polls and you know branch off into this level of crazy saying that immigrants are the reason why our economy is in stumbling immigrants are the reason why housing prices are up immigrants are the reasons why you know individuals keep on the jobs that they want to buy the middle class is shrinking there's been such
6:39 am
a push against immigrants in this country that i think that you know it becomes a very difficult conversation to even bring people to the poll republicans to oppose when you talk about immigration reform because they've made immigrants this dirty word they've made immigrants criminals they've made immigrants stealing from america and american culture and that becomes a very hard thing to overcome when that's the narrative that they've been pushing for a while now even while bush was in office himself that's true because you mentioned he put together a comprehensive immigration reform plan that ultimately failed his own party didn't even back when he had control and got enough people to actually believe the lie about the iraq war but couldn't get couldn't convince people to like change immigration that's something interested me what actually went. his plan originally was running good points about it like that could actually hope people would know so his plan sounds similar to what we've heard from both democratic and conservative democratic and republican administrations when it comes to immigration reform which i would argue a lot of that is missing the point of immigration reform he boasted border security he saw that as you know as an issue temporary work visas and the strangest part of
6:40 am
his plan was that they were a large focus on assimilation an idea that yes we should be welcoming to immigrants they should go through the path toward citizenship is a little murky on how they get there but there was a full fledged understanding or at least on his part he wanted there to be a assimilation type. assimilation type framework which. america is built on the foundation of immigrants and many of those immigrants brought their own languages their own traditions their own food their own culture so the idea that you would eradicate all of that it's interesting to see that that was actually at one point a part of his policy agenda because i mean when you mention the right of the head to what that america is built on the diversity of its cultures like best it really makes this great now of course those cultures all crisscrossing in a reactive you've got tex mex and you've got you know you've got like all these kind of different cultures kind of overlapping each other and creating some really amazing things when they do but assimilation is not there's not like one version of america to rule them all land and that's really really truly truly tragic but it's
6:41 am
interesting looking at this moving forward because i don't know if he's really going to move the needle on his party anymore or boehner for that matter i mean if he's that made me that then we're able to move the needle on their party when they were actually in power and i don't think they're going to be able to do it now when we see you know partisanship is even stronger than it was during the era him amban or for the for the most part boehner has done a thing when 80 at this point in terms of calling out the ridiculousness of his party which existed while he was there and he had absolutely nothing to say any actually lead being on it and we iterated a lot of that what they were saying while he was in leadership but to bush's comments the the question that i have is that it seems he has more of a problem with the rhetoric and told him that he actually has with the lack of policy moving forward in immigration reform and even in his ideology about immigration reform it focuses almost solely on dr recipients he has no real full or forceful plan of action or idea who are undocumented immigrants who don't fall
6:42 am
under the dock of program do you think those other do you think that like the reason that they're suddenly getting engaged is because what bush is probably seventy's barriers probably will push an eighty's you think it's just they're fearful they're going to die soon and want to leave could leave somebody that i like that and the legacy of the yeah yeah they reckon after the insurrection a lot of republicans decide at least republicans who are no longer and. office decided they needed to change course and i think that the top administration in and of itself tainted the republican party and that these are 2 people who as of late have decided they don't want anything to do with what is seen in the republican party up today because you always see that you always feel like the worst people in life are the people who made the worst decisions which looked to me george bush along with cheney and other war criminals at the end of the day for what they did with the rock and torture and everything that that in the middle east in the in the war on terror and to me it seems like better i better fight back somehow now so people can think of me i'm good in that way i can go to heaven ironically he did not speak on bringing our troops back home and. the the. areas all right everybody
6:43 am
as we go to break remember you can also start watching the demand through the portable t.v. which is available on all platforms so definitely check that out coming up the n.y.p.d. yes the new york police department has a new dog and a restaurant in florida has added some new members to their wait staff but guess what neither the new servers or the dog has a pulse. stay to watch. psychiatric drugs are essential for millions of patients. they want that pill that the hole will take care of their problem thoroughly and rapidly in the short term they really work the problem is in the long term and mostly disastrous suddenly
6:44 am
stopping a drug can cause withdrawal symptoms most serious than the condition it was meant to treat instead of the beneficial effects of these different medicines ending up to something wonderful very often armful of fix it up to something terrible. trying to medicate life itself i just think i was in like i was just scared. when i was a scared little girl i was 24 and like. it didn't have to be so complicated. kind of financial survival job today was all about money laundering 1st to visit this cash into 3 different. oh good this is a good start well we have our 3 banks all set up here maybe something in europe something in america something overseas in the cayman islands or do we know all these banks are complicit in the tough talk or soon we just have to deal with all and say ok i'm ready to do some serious money laundering ok let's see how we did

the growing calls for stricter gun control measures in the u.s. are getting louder and louder as a weekend of mass shootings left several did the us reporting at least $45.00 just last month president biden is a clearing mass shootings in this country as an embarrassing epidemic tranny shop is has the latest from new york. in the coronavirus pandemic and now experts are warning of another pandemic gun violence in america gun violence in this country and the u.s. reporting a total of $147.00 mass shootings so far this year with 45 of them just in the past month authorities arresting steven broderick a former sheriff's office detective suspected of killing 3 people in
6:47 am
a shooting in austin texas on sunday while 8 people were killed after 19 year old brandon scott whole of former fed ex employee opened fire at a fed ex facility in indianapolis the incidents just the latest in a series of mass shootings taking place across the u.s. just last month 4 people were killed in california one of them a child when shots rang out at an office building and just a week prior a mass shooting in a boulder colorado supermarket left 10 people dead including one police officer while just days earlier 8 people were killed in a string of shootings at a day spa in and around the atlanta area and what's even more startling is the number of firearms reportedly owned by americans. of the 857000000 civilian held firearms estimated in 201-7393 1000000 are in the united states and with more guns than people the us is the most heavily armed country in the world with 4 out of 10
6:48 am
firearms held by u.s. civilians many of which are black americans according to the national shooting sports foundation block. people owning guns in the u.s. has gone up more than 58 percent during the 1st 6 months of 2020 versus the same time period last year the guardian also noting that gun ownership among black people spiked when president trump lost his re-election against president joe biden president biden has called on congress to ban high capacity magazines and assault weapons in the wake of recent mass shootings and has issued multiple executive orders on the issue democrats and republicans have been at gridlock over gun legislation while democrats are pushing to crack down on assault weapons inaction has made this. completely predictable inaction by this congress makes us complicit republicans refuse to move on measures that they see as restricting 2nd amendment rights and every time there's a shooting we played this ridiculous theater. where this committee gets together
6:49 am
and proposes a bunch of laws that would do nothing to stop these murders meantime the white house is facing a balancing act amid the coronavirus pandemic it's focusing on a sweeping coronavirus relief package and now a sprawling infrastructure plan that will likely dominate the congressional calendar for months leaving many to believe that issues like gun control will take a backseat the president biden says that's not the case and insists that gun control is a priority reporting in new york trinity chavez artane. way back in 1942 the late great science fiction icon isaac asimov introduced the world to the 3 laws of robotics they're pretty simple and straightforward the 1st law i robot may not injure a human being or through an action and allow a human being to come to harm secondly a robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the 1st law of robotics and finally that last law the 3rd one
6:50 am
a robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the person of the 2nd law but tragically this week we learn that apparently there is no robot laws on the books protecting our jobs from robots nor are there any robot laws protecting new yorkers from the new york city police department wasting time and resources unleashing robot dogs to the city yes the new york post is now reporting that a seafood restaurant in florida after struggling with staffing issues decided to invest in robots to help deliver food to tables and perform other important tasks and back up in new york city curb reports that the new york city police department sent a robotic dog to an active crime scene in the bronx where a home invasion was underway yes my friends the n.y.p.d. has a robotic dog named digi dog. joining us now to discuss the good the bad and the ugly behind the robot of asian society is media legal analyst lynell of blando
6:51 am
media always a pleasure sir indeed sir so a lot of boston dynamics the company behind the n.y.p.d. is robotic dog chargers over $74000.00 commercially for this little 4 legged robot while the n.y.p.d. has been very tight lipped about the how in the why behind acquiring their robo canine i want to ask you do you feel comfortable as a new yorker that your police department is in the business of news in robotics on this level or higher. no no no no no no no no and by the way with all due respect mr asimov for dr asthma he didn't really take into account artificial intelligence he talked about robot robots are fine they're cute they're great this is a different story let me ask you fine people the following question of all the shapes and all of the forms and all the be manifestations of a police robot why a dog why for
6:52 am
a way why not a box with the wheels there are these things that open up in the but why something that we are familiar with when we say oh maybe to distract somebody maybe that's one of the things where somebody is and a shoot out and he was a what is that wrong let's put our guns dot com it's cute or god forbid you're going down to your mine on drugs or whatever it is if you think you're hallucinating and this mechanical dog comes and you think that's it i've lost it but there's a reason for this what they are doing is are using in essence the uncanny valley this this wonderful degree of when mick and mystic types of human similac raw. change face for example have you noticed why some people find clowns so scary and this is called my life is going crazy i think the n.y.p.d. is acting up here and a reason for that is because of this thing called the uncanny valley where
6:53 am
sometimes they become creepy at 1st they look like us then they something happens and they know precisely how to does arm us with how these things are going to truck to now let me ask you folks what happens if these become armed what happens if these not necessarily with weapons or with bullets but what about some type of a gas or some type of a light resume type of a sonic. they're going to weaponize these things and what we were worried about before was the hyper military raised the hyper militarization of the police after n.d.a. programs gave them wraps to little small police departments now we're going into this. because remember it always starts with literature and movies robo cop robo dog the jetsons and here's the bottom line when you remove responsibility from the police when you say i didn't do it the robot did it or i'm going to be
6:54 am
a little bit more aggressive why because i'm not in there but let's see what this baby can do let's open her up let's let's let's really get our money's worth i think this is going to actually encourage more aggression and the police will say rightly so better that a mechanical dog would say you know disengage of by something and then a cop but i see the possibilities for abuse it's right there because of these cool toys and also as you know no department wants to spend this amount of money and not use it so in those instances where you might have had 0 i don't know a police officer remember on the phone from a dog day afternoon listen what do you want their time mean what's wrong you know we're going to heck with that send in the dog it's cool has got a camera and we'll put it on you tube or tick tock at a gold viral. i know this this is scary and it's the cuteness of this which is what

alluring and what i think should frighten a lot of people i know it's a very interesting i couldn't agree there more i think we definitely got to kind of pump the brakes on what's happening here lionel always always a pleasure having you on to discuss and break down for audience thank you so much sir. thank you. we saw the body was alluded to there we kind of saw what the drone program where you have a lot of drone pilots that separation between point a trigger on a t.v. screen and then actually do it in the field now absolutely i think he brought up some good point specifically about these being you know mechanized and weaponized for things that are not necessarily you know out to the public right now i think it's very strategic that the police choose a dog because they have historically been use to erect deer the model knows who they are investigating so true already but if that is our show for today remember in this world we are not told that we are loved and so i tell you all i love you. and i'm a nice across keep on watching those hawks never great being like. it's
