and those red lines need to be taken seriously and there lays the problem the west refuses to acknowledge russia as its own national. gratings and salutation you know just when you thought that the united states postal service couldn't fall any further or take any more hits after 2020 well so are humans to post man but it appears 2000 1 and $21.00 isn't going to be any kinder to one of the united states of america's oldest institutions yes not even a year after former president donald trump and postmaster general louis de joyce scorched earth war on the credibility and trust we have in our u.s. postal service here in steps the survey england state to pick the bones clean as
9:31 pm
they say yahoo news is now reporting that according to a recently uncovered documents the law enforcement arm of the u.s. postal service has been quietly running a program that tracks and collects american social media posts the never before made public documents includes a march 16th bulletin that was distributed to homeland security fusion centers lovely places which reveals that analysts with the united states postal inspection service titled inter-net covert operation program or i cop monitored significant activity regarding planned protests occurring internationally and domestically on march 20th 2021 these planned protests you see were part of the world wide rally perforate him and democracy yes my friends the government has now weaponized the post office and its in its obsession with online digital

surveillance of u.s. citizens thankfully though there are members of congress working against this avalanche observed beilin state bootlicking u.s. senator ron wyden the democrat out of order. and more and a group of more than 20 congress members have introduced the 4th amendment is not for sale act in both the house and the u.s. senate common dreams reports that the legislation would effectively clones major loopholes in federal privacy laws including the electronic communications privacy act and the foreign intelligence surveillance act. and it would seek to protect everyone in the u.s. from a unlawful searches and seizures. but the big question is will congress have the guts to stand up and protect our sacred 4th amendment rights or in the wake of january 6th will they once again to the taishan of surveillance and depression let's find out as we start watching the hawks. on
9:33 pm
a city street. that are so let's see this is joyce state see. grace see this least systemic deception is so much. so you'll. welcome everybody to watching the hawks i am i robot and i would be surprised amazing i never thought i would live long enough to see now the u.s. postal service turn to new and all power for surveillance being watching over everything we type and do on social media now peter said leg a n.s.a. is doing its cia's going to have b i's doing all right cool kind of kind of assume that much but the post man it's it's completely ridiculous i don't even understand the reasoning as to why we need yet another agency to help out with this level of surveillance but the other issue
9:34 pm
is the u.s. postal service has problems doing its current job in delivering mail we know about the along at times we know about the removal of certain postal postal offices in the shining. down of many of them we know about the mail sorting issues we know about the workforce reductions it seems like adding yet another task for them is going to totally tear apart a system that's already overburdened in so many ways and quite frankly failing a bill like when they saw like the the acronym i cop they didn't really think oh i cop internet let's jump on that rather than actually seeing oh no it has something to do with the post office. message it seems like to me rachel levin some wildman deputy director for the brother center for justice is liberty a national security program told yahoo news when she found out about all those quote based on the very minimal information that's available online it appears that i cop is meant to root out misuse of the postal system by online actors which doesn't seem to encompass what's going on here it's not at all clear why their mandate would include monitoring of social media that's unrelated to the use of the
9:35 pm
postal system i completely agree like i gather that it's like hey we're monitoring make sure nobody you know messes around with the mail which is a federal but this is about protests and following protesters it's a little bit out of the their jurisdiction it absolutely is and so is chasing after mail for protestors because the end of the day their communication isn't happening via the u.s.p.s. that's the media way but we don't have enough i would argue that when it comes to regulation of social media or hunting down bad actors be a social media we've been horribly poor at any way from chasing down serial killers to people who you know commit major atrocities on the buildings and other things at the end of the day this isn't the job of the u.s.p.s. you know it really isn't it really isn't but they did respond to question when asked about this the u.s. postal inspection service while they didn't kind of jump on the specific questions about like i cop they did provide an overall general statement as most government institutions do saying quote the internet covert operations program is
9:36 pm
a function within the u.s. postal inspection service which assesses threats to postal service employees and its infrastructure by monitoring publicly available open. source information what that kind of does is it kind of it's standard operating procedure because it kind of leaves this really wide berth for them to operate in well if people are protesting here and there happens to be a mailbox nearby that kind of could maybe somehow give us the right to look into it right that you can kind of use that language but they're actually finding a policy that technically someone already exists to now include social media investigation the other interesting thing is when i talk about the run wide and congress is kind of pushing back on this. what the specific goal of this new bill that they're pushing both in the house and the senate is that right now federal agencies are using these kind of legal loopholes to collect massive amounts of information on american people without a court order they're doing this because they're buying information from like
9:37 pm
middlemen between app developers and these middlemen so app developers it's illegal for them to sell our data directly to the government however a legal loophole permits app developers to sell our data to a data broker and then the u.s. government backdoor us and gets that data from the data broker right and so what this new at what ron wyden in them are trying to do is to kind of close down which i think would be a brilliant brilliant but well i think that you're right where there's a will there's a line. the world is still reeling from the show in trial while many on the left are celebrating on the right some arguing the jury verdict was unfair or tainted by the protest movements and comments from democratic elected officials regard most of where you stand or who you are one thing is certain emotions and voices are being heard loudly across social media the sports world isn't immune to this le bron james and patrick holmes giants in the n.b.a. and n.f.l. shared reactions following the verdict via their twitter accounts le bron for his
9:38 pm
part has been a vocal advocate of black lives matter for years now he spends just as much time in advocacy as he does on the basketball court black athletes across the spectrum of sports tweeted about police countability support for the jury's verdict and calls to action for further criminal justice reforms sports leagues themselves issued statements of support to the n.b.a. the n.b.a. and n.f.l. most notably which shouldn't be surprising because there leagues are predominantly black but it will be an n.h.l. also released statements showing their solidarity with criminal justice reform is this speaks volumes to because those leagues aren't dominated by black athletes here's tell us more is our sports producer for them welcome regina. what were you talked about this before many sports leagues and organizations have taken up the mantle to buy and combat police brutality and systemic racism within their communities as well as to be vocal advocates leagues like the n.f.l. and n.b.a. or light years ahead of certain other leagues yet some of these leagues outside of
9:39 pm
those 2 they fall short and either didn't say anything or did the wrong things after the derrick shogun trial verdict came through do you think that there is for want of action happening or is this ally ship real what do you think this is i think in terms of you know if you look at the n.b.a. the n.b.a. the n.f.l. the n.f.l. is a little bit of a gray area roger goodell's not so they have the best reputation if you look back when george floyd was killed a year ago you know his statement as well we hope the end of the trial offered a chance for healing remain. committed to actively engaging the movement for equality that's pretty vague really it's not calling for change it say you should change where the n.b.a. the n.b.a. they have players coaches the even league officials have been very vocal about this change now the n.h.l. and las vegas raiders decided well we're going we're going take the batteries on this one the n.h.l. is saying in their statement while we hope to end the trial while we have the end of trial offers a chance for healing remain committed to engaging with it for quality fans to
9:40 pm
change cool great you don't say anything about actually george floyd you give a nice umbrella statement that has a we should do we should do some changes country which we should but that's very just you know it comes off as we're doing this because every else is doing it whereas individual teams statements are very specific war is coming out of this idea that like you know where there's a lot of pushback in this country i may disagree that but there is still pushback that they've term to say kind of like look sports are designed to be an escape it's entertainment many fans get up in arms when they see their athletes you know standing up for something else you've heard the conservative commentators go stick to dribbling stick you know stick to just blame sports do you think that this verdict could turn the tide for the idea that athletes and leagues can have opinions about you know social justice issues or politics or things like that is our country changing in that way and we're getting rid of that old argument against that i think the answer is yes and no yes in the sense that i think people are
9:41 pm
recognizing that these athletes they do have an enormous amount of sway especially in communities of color minority communities that is a large voices we're glad they're using and you know a lot of you encourage more athletes to do so because they are the face of their kids see that the faces that the community sees the know is the fact that you're still going to have a lot of supporters going well this is mass ports and i want my escape you at think the line and you know commentators especially you know rachel nichols said it best the line is blurred and i'm not even sure there is a line anymore because. these are people who have opinions these are people who've experienced racism who've experienced discrimination why i can't they speak out about this issue and for people saying well that's you know at a job you wouldn't do that job you would have an opinion but there's they're not saying this as a member of the lakers le bron james is saying as a member of his team he's saying it as le bron james the person and he's allowed to have that opinion and i would argue that corporations and individuals who work for corporations are also speaking out so that the job being very interesting to see.
9:42 pm
is a weird crossroads a very gray area so switching gears a bit former new york yankee alex rodriguez. he just spent 1500000000 to purchase the minnesota timberwolves and the n.b.a.'s minnesota lynx yet you wouldn't know by the statement he put out is this just more disrespect for women's sports as a whole yes because again people want women to sport the b.b.c. just did a study that people love watching women's sports a problem is it's not it's always accessible sometimes behind a paywall like you know c.b.s. all access to the national to soccer league cup you can't you're going to ask people to pay for it but you want to have the access is just doesn't work like basically we made the announcement that he bought the timberwolves he didn't lose you lose it all which is arguably the most successful franchise that i didn't see that is there is a 13 playoff appearances and you're like you know what we're going to get big this group that's a big forget this vision what exactly is it because his break ups on his brain and he just kind of forgot who knows which it's interesting but i do think i just want
9:43 pm
to ask you do you think you're going to see more former athletes stepping forward especially whether in basketball or wherever is kind of stepping forward saying i have enough money i'm going to buy another to you know absolutely of a possible us is a is bought into the kids or the royals we're seeing these athletes be more involved and i think also too that helps them get a better sense of community as well and be more involved in their community because now to them like yes financially it will matter but i think also of them they realize they have responsibility at that point as well and for basketball and also . bridge the gap between the governors and mayors to yangon absolutely absolutely all right everybody as we go to break thank you very much for example by the way i'm sorry it was so your body as we go to break remember that you can also start watching the hawks on demand with a brand new t.v. app which is available on all platforms so definitely go check it out coming up it will appear it would appear that many of our elected leaders around the country are doubling their efforts to abolish our right to protest yes they are let's find out
9:44 pm
why next and watching the whole. show seem wrong. why don't we all just don't. let me. get to shape out these days become educated and gain from it because the trail. when so many find themselves worlds apart we choose to look for common ground. i think that will be an interesting new chapter in all of this is that after all the jobs have been shipped to china the majority of american landlords will be
9:45 pm
chinese and so most people will have lost their jobs from china they'll be addicted to sense of all chip in place of china and paying rent if they can afford a house to someone in china. throughout history collective action and assembly have been the most useful means to bring about change think about it women's suffrage voting rights for blacks marriage equality a 40 hour work week and worker protections environmental justice anti-war demonstrations not a single national reform has been passed in america without a protest not one but when it comes to protesting in the name of black lives matter republicans want to up in the system and torch the constitution as
9:46 pm
a result of last year's george boyd protests the g.o.p. is pushing bills that target protesters and give immunity to drivers who run them over while the black lives matter demonstrations forced america to rethink racial inequality and placed america's human rights violations and white supremacist terror in the international spotlight republicans refused to acknowledge it instead they chose to attack protest rights in $34.00 states and county republicans are coming after protests rights a florida bill that was recently signed into law gives police broad discretion to call a gathering a right and charge protesters with a felony. the law creates a new crime mob intimidation and requires anyone of arrested at a protest denied bail until their 1st court appearance it also appeals to the governor and his cabinet for any local officials that want to reduce police funding . but that's not all protesters have to worry about bills being pushed would bar people from receiving student loans and state aid and again immunize drivers who
9:47 pm
decide to run them down this would mean that people like james alex fields jr who ran into heather hire murdering her during the charlottesville protests would not have been charged and republicans aren't just targeting protesters on the streets they're also ramping up anger for support supporters of protesters in the sports world le bron james is a target if he's come under fire as of late 4th since the lead a tweet regarding the police killing of teen makiya bryant republican senator tom cotton said le bron james was inciting violence against an ohio police officer and called an m.b.a. and twitter to respond joining us now is republican strategist chris brown chris. gray gratin glad to have you chris you know. we are so excited that you're here and we're able to make it i know you've been traveling a lot recently the black lab matter protests were overwhelmingly peaceful estimates they 97 percent peaceful. but g.o.p. leaders and right wing media latch on to episodic instances of violence while these
9:48 pm
largely peaceful protest subject to drug colonial all that fly in the face of constitutional rights. but i think the reality is that you have plates and i look at them as a sanchez right they don't want to end up like seattle or you know people are in other places i think they really want the church anymore meticulous about the process now to look really what this is to me it is anti writing anti looting bill now i do think the g.o.p. has to be careful about passing. bills that has the potential of restricting the freedom and the right to create approaches i think we ought to be very very careful about that i think we all have to kind of calm down and really come together and protect the 1st amendment as well as protect the rights of protests i think that's really immensely important because a lot of political rhetoric going on going on and i think that's really important we come together and find a way to 42 together so people can peacefully protest and i actually protect the 1st moment but we cannot have them each day is we cannot have people burning
9:49 pm
presently burning sitting down a lot of things on fire and i'm goes far as to even tearing down statues and monuments other things that's just unacceptable we have to start being tighter as a country and being more organized when these things take place and look people have to learn how to actually protest and do it in a professional calm manner 97 percent of people 97 percent of those protests were and what you would describe as a professional and matter just being but i know exactly his case well but you know what it takes just that 3 percent you said you are right but that that 3 percent can do a whole lot more damage in 97 percent that's what the reality is and look what happened some of these cities and i was in the last week in the years with protesting that's what we're trying to avoid we're trying to avoid those couple conference let me ask you the natural when you look at something isn't there other sort of cultural isn't there you know there are already plenty of laws on the books already the pretty much say hey if you burn out a building we're going to charge you for it of your. you know what tax someone storefront vandalize
9:50 pm
a place we can charge you for i mean there's already all these laws on the books that would essentially prevent that you know isn't this kind of just building more government and putting government you know just kind of building layer upon layer of a lot of laws that would actually kind of go against more of a libertarian ideology when it comes to this nature of the work kind of doubling our efforts you know we already have these law going on and so so i think it's designed more to kind of hone in more it's more specifically like if you look at docs in a police officer they when i was he stopped that now being and for those that know we're talking is going to be easier to watch and obviously not be able to the public so swiftly and a lot of people a lot of officers private information are the personals or person or family poverty or make something that's very important as well look what happened yesterday with le bron james to conclusions let's just say that that information was something that could've been very detrimental to him or his family and it's not fair to those of the people involved maybe to the officer but not in the family that's absolute right so i think dr apart i agree with that but i think we're just in a unique time and we have to be more firemen and more strenuous when it comes to
9:51 pm
type of measures we can have folks running and then looting we don't need to we have to be more direct and not incentivize people to do so and we start laying down the law and we start getting more firm about protesting in the streets a little more. aggressively i think that's where it comes and you look at what governor state is doing on oklahoma like i think some of the stuff he's actually doing is a great thing we're talking about folks blocking roadways shutting down stores is absolutely ridiculous and think about from a store fronts owner from their perspective these are things that are unacceptable the fact they're stopping you from making money they're stopping you from your livelihood there stop me from going to paying your employees that is absolutely crazy and should not happen here in america we're not in the contract unacceptable so i don't see any wrong with being more spending when it comes to laws and tightening up now we can be more aggressive when it comes to that it's unacceptable we have to be aggressive when it comes to the same when he want to be aggressive when it comes to protecting the rights of minorities like myself we have to be the same on both. it's a fair coin. the way just that which you have also been
9:52 pm
a proponent or against the montgomery bus boycott because at the end of the day the montgomery bus boycott took place because individuals were not some were being mistreated in the jim crow south had many laws that actually pushed against the the constitutional rights of african-americans so yes sometimes businesses do take a hit when it comes to protest rights but i would argue that that has also been something that have you know been a part of pushing civil rights and ensuring that black people are treated as equal citizens across this country. well i completely agree but again i want to go back which you have come if you want to pursue me but i want to go back to what you said the night is from sanford that 3 percent i mean look again liquid happened yesterday. with the officer with the young lady with a knife situation that was cute and literally just really talking about the le bron james tweet that if that's there i mean that could have been detrimental on a whole different level now you know that's a small percentage still that's big enough to cause liquid that kind of in 5 years over 50000000 followers feel doubts i'm talking about these one instance is going
9:53 pm
to cause greater damage and so when you have a 3 percent audience who are causing a lot of damage and a lot of destruction that's different for america and it's just the tone for other cities well look we have many outlets not to and it spread across the chicago in other places los angeles people were actually 2 were out of control and lighting things on fire they were looting those type of things cannot happen but we have to get firm we have to set this very strong standard for that because you keep bringing up the le bron james tweet that was the leagues and i think it got a lot of attention because it was deleted at the end of the day the tweet said your next and your next was not in the context of any level of violence he wasn't calling for violence what he was speaking to was a process we just saw happen with their job and the your next was you're going to more than likely go through a litigation you're going to more than likely go to a court process and be held accountable that was what that meant that republicans utilizing this as some call to arms against an officer i think is completely mistaken and also not something that le bron james ever really spoke to at all. well i want to be clear and the machine only put it well so i want to be clear when
9:54 pm
i say the next thing i think it goes to inciting things that people over sensationalizing think i'll give you a quick example i can think of them and that obviously i disagree with this person that's a but the gentleman that harassed the young black kid in their hood you see how quickly that crowd came to his home which don't get me wrong i'm totally against that. what he did to the kid was actually wrong but i'm giving an example and so what i'm saying is we can afford to have things like that happen when it's actually in the right jobs the clue that guy was wrong but my point is things like that cannot we cannot afford for that to happen so when you look at le bron james let's just say that tweet was one you know 30 minutes prior and it was less it's caused more damage we cannot afford those type things that happen american that's where i'm coming from and we have the buck has to stop here and we have to all stop being all over the over slash lots of things have to come together as a concert we simply have to and it's important to check people's minutes when it starts from the 1st minute it's important to protect the right to protest but we have to come together as a nation have common ground that now you know it's
9:55 pm
a scary thing right now and we should because people in america today we don't want to compromise people we don't want to be on the left side. and that is and that's not a healthy thing but we're in a very bad place in america and i want people to remember that and now forget that i agree with you there that we do need to kind of find common ground i think that at the end of the day though we should always hold cherish our rights to protest and yes there are people that the titles rights too far but at the end of the day i do i would disagree and say i think we already have plenty of laws on the books rather than create brand new one of the chris thank you so much for coming on today educating our audience on your viewpoints always a pleasure sir sure thank you thanks so much. all right man an interesting conversation. and had some friends of our show for you today remember in this world we are definitely not told that we are loved enough so i tell you all i love you tyro ventura and i don't you should probably keep on watching all those hawks out there have a. played by. someone
