from moscow thanks for joining us tonight here on out international. welcome to the program. france over the french language is inherently sexist that's after the ministry banned schools from allowing a new form of gender inclusive writing insisting that compliance with standard to grammar is a priority. the drive for ever greater inclusive wiki is seeing efforts made to reform the french language which critics say is riddled with a boy yes it's an idea that seemed fieri to peer wrists amongst them it seems france is education minister who says there will be no way it will be allowed in schools in the context of education compliance with grammatical and syntactic rules is essential recourse to so-called inclusive writing should be prohibited in french

and many would say. so that mass killing all their feminine base becomes an issue when referring to mix sex groups now if you have 9 women and one man in for example french grammar requires you to use the masculine word for which advocates of inclusive if you think he's bad critics there you say the prospective change is even worse most of the country would like the children to be able to spill let alone have to sort of fight with defiance of little dots that nobody's grammar has been invented by people for ideological reasons and suddenly are supposed to adopted and this new this new law all those new rules there's a ruling of the. it's entirely something that takes up. a certain 2 circles in education and they want to impose it to the rest of the country but it has a new validity in artifact or history or just proper french authorities in parts of

france love the idea saying gender equality is what matters most but the proposed language changes have left some people confused it is totally useless we were able to understand child there very well before even the feminine it was not used so i find that it is useless speech we must include everyone it's true that unfortunately for centuries the man. killing has prevailed over the famine and maybe it's time for a change for me it's a bit bland but if there are those who accept it it doesn't bother me i like simple vocabulary i don't like to complicate my life i think it's a good idea it's complicated but the issue of sexism and writing is something you have to take into account though i don't know for example if writing a whole novel in an inclusive way is feasible and the carrier of the linguistic

purity or frog. of it at a time when the fight against sex discrimination involves battles relating in particular to domestic violence which disparities and the phenomenon of harassment inclusive writing if it is a part of this movement is not only counterproductive for the cause itself but harmful to the practice and understanding of the french language the concern over holding the french language is so deep that a piece of even tabled in law to ban inclusive language in the public service critics also claim to use it would make learning french even harder and could in fact lead to greater discrimination i am terrified by things i see on facebook i'm terrified by the level to which spelling sort of has disappeared and if you look at the the exercise books of pupils 50 years ago you can see that no matter what social class you could teach them decent french but then you have to do it the

proper way and not not using sort of fashionable things and then sort of interspersing inclusive spelling and whatever inclusive spelling is inclusive for about 3 percent of the academic world it's it's complete nonsense i think however that it's fashionable and like all fashionable ideas good and bad they take over it's not even a question of discrimination or something else and such a thing as language says such a thing as gravity that such a thing is history and they want to destroy all of this well. while the french look reluctant to tinker with their grammar they're not entirely adverse to so-called will changes the terms. of their health being abandoned in schools and replaced with parent one and parent to leaving the french swimming in an alphabet soup of their own making sure that even skin nazi paris.

welcome back to the program the u.s. state of texas could soon allow private citizens to anyone who helps get an abortion including counselors even taxi drivers bill outlawing terminations after 6 weeks has passed the texas house and senate unlike other so-called heartbeat bills responsibility for and forcing it falls entirely on private citizens not on the state authorities or supporters say that will allow it to bypass federal laws protecting womens rights to terminate the bill will become law after being approved by the texas governor who has said he plans to approve it and the republican congressman behind a draft law claims the state in the midst of an abortion crisis to take urgent action. it's time for texas to protect the natural right to live for the tiniest and most innocent tax since and there's bill does does that it's time republicans make it clear that we actually think abortion is murder unborn children the dying
5:14 pm
at a faster rate and taxes than code that patients but taxes isn't taking the bush and tries to seriously all views on abortions remain more or less evenly split in the us with the latest polls showing 46 percent identified as pro-life 48 percent are pro-choice the trend in recent years though has been towards tougher laws back in 2019 restrictions were enacted 17 times across 10 states in that year about acted only a total abortion ban while missouri outlawed abortions after 8 weeks federal judges though later blocked both of those states from enforcing the bans we can our go live to our 2 guests legal analyst jennifer damascus and women's rights advocate reese everson both joining us today for what's certainly been. salient quite a motive if she doesn't across the states as well jennifer of i can start with you perhaps these are the heartbeat bill some of those were mentioned just now in the
5:15 pm
report they've been struck down by federal courts despite being acted by representatives do you expect the same to happen here. you know i do for this i haven't had a chance to read all of it but i've read a good portion of this bill in texas and and so when you when you look at it i can see what the intent is i can see the intent is to try to utilize the state authorities say powers to to limit or to restrict abortion zx or to place more penalties or civil penalties on these providers but but the main provision in this bill goes against the texas own constitutional and texas own codes and regulations for standing in cases and not just texas i mean universally you have to have standing you have to be harmed or injured party and so and so i see at the very least that provision that allows basically anybody in the state of texas to sue a doctor for an abortion that this person might not have any sort of attachment to
5:16 pm
i don't quite see that being upheld not just in and federal courts i don't see that it can be held by the texas supreme court now of course there are a lot of other provisions on this bill but i don't see it being upheld at least that provision on allowing anybody to sue that might not even have standing or an injury you know there are still a couple of amendments of course to be passed which we'll talk about a bit later if we can have if we have time reese all republican lawmakers who are pushing through this bill simply given voters what they're off for in polls in texas showing more than 2 thirds of republicans 68 percent are in favor of an abortion ban i mean isn't this what people want. even if that were absolutely the case and it seems to be that there is i desire for a lot of people and sexes to be pro-life in washington here's the issue and jim did point to this allowing a person to his shoe because their neighbor they've been able to sue their
5:17 pm
neighbor for and dropping another neighbor to get an abortion is absolutely absurd one there is no standing you're not of one party and to allow a person to clog the legal system with frivolous cases because that's exactly what these are if you consider that. until your neighbor to go get an abortion if you can sue the nurse who signed in the patient who then got an abortion in your youth allowing the citizens to absolutely abuse the legal system and that's not what the people of texas deserve or need want or anyone for that matter. jennifer just coming up to yours to you shelby lawson who is one of representatives behind the bill is still to make some amendments as far as i understand that to prevent you know people such as rapists people have made women pregnant by incest to stop them
5:18 pm
suing there could be other of arguments as well in the spell but are you broadly in favor of this heartbeat bill that you know life starts off the 6 weeks on with this so-called abortion crisis like we heard there from from the republican representative something needs to be done. you know it is difficult i am at the outset i mean i am i am i tend to lean more conservative politically on my i tend to be more pro-life i mean as as others have touched on as as research also touched on you know i know the majority of texas is pro-life even though i'm not a texan now i be what they want but i'm also an attorney at heart i'm also somebody who has studied the laws i am going to turn it law and and i do respect the justice system and right now there are too many issues in this bill that do open up a problematic door and now i see what the legislature is trying to do i think that there are some that might believe it mentions the bill itself mentions many times
5:19 pm
if roe v wade is overturned if k.c.b. planned parenthood if these major supreme court decisions are overturned and the bill also talks about how texas has never repealed their criminalization of abortions and so it seems like there's language in there that shows them wanting to kind of get back to that where that it would be that is for example if abortions were criminalized or if certain types were criminalized then it would be a state a state filing there and so that would be a different story it seems like they're trying to use language to do to allow civil penalties for something because they can't have criminal penalties and i don't think that's the way our justice system works even if we disagree with these things obviously there are churches civic organizations that can help to end of fortune's that can help pro-life matters i don't see the legal language in this bill being able to stand up even if i agree with the premise but as you stated there are some amendments there might be new amendments i know that than the recent amendment was just introduced i believe it still needs to go to the senate in texas for approval
5:20 pm
which would not allow those who committed rape or incest to sue the providers or anybody who aided and abetted but there are a lot of legal hurdles that the seems to overcome regardless of what amendments to and i'm trying to find some of the more redeeming qualities here i i can understand a lot out there would at least. allows for civil penalties brought by a mother a mother who maybe was in juice that language of inducing somebody to get him an abortion or or saying look maybe i'll pay you this money if you're if you're on the edge your future in or near not sure what you want and in kind of pushing her over the edge choosing abortion absolutely allows civil penalties for that and there are all kinds of penalties i think that there has to be language that narrows down people not only was standing up but people that have truly been injured like for example a mother who's been injured because we do know even if i am pro like i do understand that there are even if somebody is pro-choice we do understand that there are women who have maybe been in juice or force gene and abortion or women who suffer severe
5:21 pm
emotional or psychological trauma afterwards and so maybe civil actions for that but that would have to severely narrow down this bill and in that case i would i would understand and certainly agree with that premise but it has to fit a legal guidelines and guy lives just across any any place that has to agenda for having a slight technical problem with resorting to see you shaking your head there i mean would you agree with the watered down pops version of the bill of rights is some of the really controversial issues and secondly do you think you know a lot of supporters republicans are probably hoping this could end up in the supreme court which of course has a conservative majority if it goes that far do you see this paulson. here's the thing reproductive rights are a constitutional right everyone that has a right to decide for herself what to do with her body and at the end of the day the heartbeat bill is seeking to attack the right of every woman who has can decide
5:22 pm
whether or not you want to carry a child what the consumer what the state of texas what the state of louisiana they are intending to do is they're trying to push laws that will get contested in going to the supreme court whole being to overturn roe v wade hoping that this will somehow allow them to subtract and contract the rights of women in their reproductive rights here is the issue even though there is a conservative court justice roberts who's a conservative judge decided with the member has decided with women and the rights for women the last couple of times these laws were brought up in the state of louisiana in the state of texas and the reason why he disagreed peeta since it when it was brought up in texas the last time but then when a similar watch was brought up they expected for the conservative justice to stand with the other conservatives and he did you know why because of starry decisis
5:23 pm
which means that when something has been decided a certain way by the law of the land the supreme court that is the law of the land in he as a person who respects the constitution respects the law that this land decided to up hold there are former decision which was the decision in the texas case and so what can we say we know that based on the history in this country even the conservative judge recognizes a one who's right to choose and recognizes that the court has recognized the woman's right to choose and i stand with that and i think that the rest of the country has to basically continue to bring this issue to the forefront because there are state like texas which are trying to reduce a woman's right to choose very quickly running out of time jennifer can just go back to you quickly for your 32nd just final take on this before we have to wrap up . absolutely the 1st of all i think a lot of people would contest the fact that justice roberts is a conservative i know that label has been applied but this is also the lone supreme
5:24 pm
court justice who authored the opinion of passing obama's affordable care act so i think a lot of people would i would contest that regardless of that but there are a lot of different issues that come in here and it's not just about a woman's right to choose it's also about the same to life because for women's rights issues there's also an absolute inalienable right to life and an alien will right for for to to give others a chance i mean there are absolutely programs people that are that are involved in this issue and and so when you look at that when you have science that actually disputes itself and where does life start where where should life start what point does it have to go from being the mother's choice to a to a legitimate state interest search illegitimate interest to protect that human life and that's where the debate lies that's where they have scientists doctors experts legal analysts that are all disagreeing on this and that is the crux of the matter is this more is it more important their way to evil to choose or is it more
5:25 pm
important that we be able to protect the sanctity of human life we're out of time unfortunately jennifer the most recent was a boy so much for coming on the program that i. think he's that. russia is gearing up for victory day on sunday and other military hardware will be rolling through moscow's red square with hundreds of troops marching in the air force taking to the skies progressives joins one of the helicopter team is taking part in rehearsals. it is a rare privilege to be offered the opportunity to fly over the moscow city itself never mind the kremlin the as face above the seats he is generally wish to imagine c 7 says state and military aircraft but we were offered the chance and this is a ride the me 81 of the most mass produced helicopters in the world.
