live from the world headquarters of r t america our nation's capital this. week rick sanchez. hi everybody i'm rick sanchez and i want to welcome our viewers from all over the world including those of you are watching us right now on the portable t.v. out there is a story that we are following right now that sounds like something. that happens often here in the united states let me show you what we're talking about it's a gunman that has burst into a school and he has started shooting he's injured at least 16 people killed 7 children it sounds like something that would happen in a place i can see us right or arizona but this shooting you're looking at right there that's russia. it's happened in
3:01 pm
a russian city called. were authorities with the national anti-terrorism agency say the shooter has now been apprehended the area is in lockdown motive is still unknown expect to get a lot more information on the story and we're going to be following it for you throughout this newscast throughout the day but there's another tragedy that's taking place in another part of the world and this one is. this was not a surprise because it's been occurring off and on now for almost 70 years and that's about how long this conflict between the israelis and the palestinians has been going on in fact overnight it's really heated up violence shelling aerial attacks have been occurring we've we've been monitoring these pictures furnished by the associated press and they show the constant. flak the antiaircraft of the shooting this is in the area of gaza and jerusalem by the way
3:02 pm
where some of these incidents of taken place in fact i want to share with you some headlines this is from haaretz right it's one of israel's leading newspapers there report that israeli defense forces have assassinated the chief of islamic jihad's special rocket unit here's another headline from the rats $28.00 palestinians in gaza 10 children reported to have been killed during the attack and expect those numbers to change throughout the course of the day israel has also killed 3 top israeli job militants according to the government and dozens of israelis have also been wounded from shelling coming in from the palestinian border so. what is the genesis of all of this it's a bitter dispute over settlements as israelis move into neighborhoods and inadequate they call. palestinians argue they're not evictions they're simply
3:03 pm
forced displacements so are palestinians being effective as part of a routine real estate conflict or are they being forced off their own land as an illegal displacement this is what we are going to be debating right here on the news rick sanchez let's get at it when we believe it's time to do news again. all right here's the question as we think we'll come to mind as you watch this newscast is it displacement or evictions which is occurring to palestinians why are all stray france and japan conducting joint military exercises and why why is a pulitzer prize winning journalist warning americans about president by. we begin
3:04 pm
tonight with a bloody conflict in gaza the images coming in which seem to show the continual back and forth between 2 peoples who've been not able to find a compromise now for more than 60 years but the latest source of friction is all about something called settlements we've got some live pictures we can show you this is what it looks like right now over gaza and we've been monitoring these for oh the better part of the last couple of hours and from time to time you know we've seen the flak right the anti-aircraft gunfire going into the sky it really illuminates the sky as the palestinian defenses try and combat against the israeli warships that have been hitting this area it's continued for quite some time john hardy interesting lee enough our own john how did he work for years of that war correspondent he was based in jerusalem and he is reporting today on the latest overnight fighting between the palestinians and israelis. 2 israelis have
3:05 pm
been killed and at least $26.00 palestinians including reportedly 9 children in gaza as the cross border fighting intensifies in what has been the most intense escalation of fighting since 6 days of cross border fire in november 2019. in israel 2 women were killed when a rocket hit their apartment building in the city of ashkelon just north of the gaza strip more than 400 rockets have been fired from gaza into israel since monday as israel continues to launch air strikes on targets in gaza the i.d.f. israel defense forces says it has struck 130 quote unquote military targets in gaza according to a military spokesperson mostly belonging to hamas the i.d.f. says 90 percent of the rockets that penetrated the gaza israeli border were intercepted by israel's iron. defense system at least 122 people meanwhile have
3:06 pm
been reportedly injured in israel since monday all this says the protests and violence also continues in east jerusalem and the old city where the clashes started about a month ago when israeli residents in a neighborhood of east jerusalem received a court order to have picked 6 palestinian families while that case plays out in court the violence only increased the past month old tamil erupting to the point we're seeing now fueled by political instability in both israel and the west bank. and the i.d.f. israel defense forces says about 90 percent by the way of the rockets fired from gaza into israel are intercepted by what's called the iron dome rocket defense system and as the fighting continues wreck israel is calling up 5000 reserve soldiers as egypt is now reportedly engage in intensive talks with israel and also hamas and islamic jihad in gaza to try the big key word try and broker a cease fire possibly something as soon as wednesday but that said israeli prime
3:07 pm
minister benjamin netanyahu said that the fact that rockets from gaza were aimed at jerusalem crossed a quote unquote red line and that israel he said what it's hack in response with increased strength and frequency john hardy reporting for us on the situation that continues even as we speak in gaza between the israelis and the palestinians thanks so much john joining us now. is really offer who argues for a palestinian rights also joining us is alan grayson who was a former congressman from florida who argues of the fence of israelis the fence policies my thanks to both of you for being with us you come at this from conflicting points of view alan let me start with you the conversation really is a lot about the settlements the israelis say look they're fictions the palestinians say no they're not there. people being forced off of their own land how would you
3:08 pm
characterize. i don't think that makes a difference what matters are the facts not the words that we use to describe them i think it's fair to say that the israelis have been aggressive in trying to clear a land for so many years what's most important at this particular moment is that this conflict is occurring right at the time when the most inclusive government it is really history was about to be formed and i have to think that extremists on both sides are doing everything they can to prevent this unity government from being formed and that's why we're seeing what we are seeing today we go what do you make of that the fact that. you know we're not going to get an argument alan suggests about what words we call it whether they're being forced off their land or they're being affected that we really need to look at is the fact that we have the potential to form a government that's actually going to be able to help the palestinians. you know player this. or this parents because you know this is this way.
3:09 pm
makes a great deal of difference. and . words. they are so to speak. just. the pictures as you see them. great you know it's all about the words. how it. was doing so i just friends.
3:10 pm
well. let's give a chance to chime in here allan. is it difficult at times to defend israeli's actions because they do appear certainly image wise to be extremely aggressive and let's face it. the palestinians seem like david here compared to like a lion to use a biblical phrase. well rick it's difficult to defend israel against the kind of
3:11 pm
crazy talk that we just heard from your other guest to compare what's happened in the west bank to quote ethnic cleansing is incredibly irresponsible all the settlers together occupied less than 10 percent of the west bank he think about the actual issue incidents of ethnic cleansing that we've seen historically like armenia and i compare that to what's happening now in israel and it's almost criminal to talk about it that way and when you're talking about it with such extreme terms and then yes that words do start to matter because you're vilifying an entire people you're vilifying the people of israel which isn't the 1st time that's happened so. question that listen i agree with this or whatever israel's right to like when i was in congress i agree with president obama whenever president obama's right and that's it that's as far as i go but i think that there's a real danger in trying to turn people against an entire culture against an entire now. chanelle do you like your guess is trying to do against israel right now you
3:12 pm
make it sound he says make 0 like the israelis are just made sure he will people like your demonizing them the way some argue they might try and demonize palestinians how do you respond to. accusation against your. will in the street and . there again is a general. gration. a person or society i actually know. he's lost the reality is. the oppressor. i am part. of the actually that's.
3:13 pm
a different organization the. next day because it's these. there's crowd. where these guys are like yeah i know because. people here since you. say so i. think part of course what. rico what about and if you could keep your answer to 30 years i want to get al and i want to get on the last word but what about the rocket fire in the israel that the palestinians have been doing and did last night by the way some 30 some israelis were apparently injured. yes well. yes. there is the right of people.
3:14 pm
and. what do you expect the but i don't mean to break it will do alan in this situation what should they do why what what what would you counsel them to do what they have done that condemned terrorism sometimes some people in jerusalem are being forced out of their homes the that's being countered with missile attacks against civilian populations and literal terrorism people throughout south israel now other parts of israel live in terror because of these fanatics and if you want to relive again what happened in 1948 that's one thing but if you want to talk about what's happening today the palestinians are wrong wrong wrong you do not launch missiles at civilian populations period mico alan my thanks
3:15 pm

you know 'd i'm famous for my views. yours truly. 'd how to read out of read i turn on the t.v. on about the world what's happening around me i see seals on the screen in last every day because the fake news near its steady state. building up places with farm after a plump brick by brick pool is that they could have plenty of that in the store but i found it didn't work that'll. turn water back in the 1st ever japan is being joined by all of france and the us military exercises in the southwestern part of that country these drills come out of japan is moving to try and strengthen its defense ties to try
3:18 pm
and counter china somehow they're doing so it's united states the effort to send china a message through new countries though again that are doing this argues alex one hell of it takes us through. western allies have picked their common threats of the day and china is at the top of the list committed to working together to take on the challenges from china and on issues like east china sea the south china sea as well as north korea to ensure a future of a free and open and don't pacific. japan and out of states are 2 strong democracies in the region and we're committed we're committed to defending advancing our shared values including human rights and the rule of law now japan of the u.s. have been joined by france and australia to show that their stance against china is
3:19 pm
more than just words as a response to a growing concern regarding trying to assertiveness and its region the 4 countries are participating in a week long run of air land and sea military exercises the show of force follows a slew of accusations against china from g 7 foreign ministers at their recent gathering this was the chinese government's response secrets are going down to the 7 porn ministers meeting made groundless accusations against china it's lamely meddling in china's internal affairs and engaging in blocking on tell us what you call the gross interference in china's sovereignty and you know wanton destruction of the norms of international relations and contrary to the trends of the times of davao development and win win cooperation with china strongly condemns that the drills which are being held in the southwest part of japan include biter jets and b.b.'s operation exercises at sea a japanese submarine and 10 ships including 6 from japan 2 french one australian and america's u.s.s. new orleans are participating in the joint exercises to crush
3:20 pm
a couple comey the head of the institute of world studies at tackle shoko university told a.f.p. the drill is no doubt a deterrent to china's increasingly aggressive behavior in the region japan has had long time territorial concerns in areas of dispute with china beijing has made claims to the japanese administered some kaku islands and through the years there has been chinese military activity in the area the latest military exercises which include european nations are a rarity in japan and are clearly an effort on that country's part to expand and consolidate military alliances in an effort to deter china for r t i'm alex mileage. meanwhile according to a recent poll president joe biden's approval ratings i get sick certainly when compared to his predecessors the associated press has mr biden 63 percent and that means 63 percent of americans polled approve of how he's handling the country y.
3:21 pm
well you know the explanations could go from the fact that unlike his predecessor he is not bombastic hardly even visible comparable speaking but the real reason for his popularity probably has to do with what he's promised create jobs through an infrastructure plan tax the rich provide college tuition for free increase medicare increase medicaid the list which goes on by the way reads like a dessert menu for progressives but is there a catch. my next guest says you betcha chris hedges has is an award winning former 'd new york times correspondent the host of on contact here at archie america and he's written a column where he warns americans with these words don't be fooled by joe biden chris joins us live now to explain what he is saying in his column explain to us
3:22 pm
chris what you mean by don't be fooled by the guy with a 63 percent a.p. approval rating right now. well he has a high approval rating as did obama when he came into office obama was also compared to f.d.r. and then turned out to quote the phrase by my friend cornel west to be a black mascot for wall street biden has long serve the interests of the business elites and lead he was chosen by obama to be the vice president because in essence he voted has voted republican call him senator a credit card most the big credit card companies are based in delaware he has you know he was an author of the patriot act nafta on and on and on and then of course in the clash with bernie sanders the democratic party elite made it very clear lloyd blankfein the former c.e.o. of goldman sachs and other major figures in the democratic party said that if sanders was the nominee they would vote for trump trump was distasteful in that he
3:23 pm
didn't bring the gravity and decorum to the management of empire that the elites want they knew biden would do that and when you look at his plan remember biden on the campaign trail had said that he would when he got to office right to $2000.00 stimulus checks that got reduced to $1415.00 minimum wage has collapsed his infrastructure plan is not clearly going to be whittled down by the senate and his relief package is essentially handing large sums of money to states and to corporations that's just another version of trickle down economics so then how does it work how is it that all my friends and the folks that i interviewed from time to time on the rides can have it so wrong they say he's a communist a socialist but he's going to absolutely give away the country to all the poor people and the rich are going to be a lark i mean they literally have have
3:24 pm
a could worse view of him then you do explain that to us. well but that was true in the obama administration rick i mean they made those same charges against obama when the track record is quite clear obama serve the interests of wall street indeed bailed wall street out bailed out the people who carried out the financial fraud at the expense of the victims of that fraud so that's a rhetorical feint i'm not sure they believe it and fact i think most of them are probably quite comfortable with biden biden is not going to touch structurally the for profit health care system he has called for an increase in his budget military budget by 11000000000 dollars 1.6 percent increase and that's going to over 7 $150000000000.00 so yeah i think that is just part of the kind of political game but the reality is that he has always
3:25 pm
been and remains essential creature of the corporate elites so he that would be the more expression is a walking representation of that saying we hear all the time that nowadays in america there really is no difference between a democrat and a republican is that right well there is a difference but there isn't much of a difference so let's talk about the his call to tax the rich well what he's really talking about is restoring tax rates that doesn't even reach pretty trump levels remember under reagan the wealthiest corporations and individuals were taxed at 40 percent go back to eisenhower republican president the legacy of the new deal you're talking 91 percent so there's certainly movement but it's not significant movement it doesn't threaten the death grip the corporate power has on our political system and let's be clear the goldman sachs' there is no way to vote against the interests of goldman sachs in our political system whether you're
3:26 pm
voting for or whether you're voting for biden do you believe he joe biden the man knows that much of what he's saying isn't true and isn't going to come to pass that he's actually being dishonest. that's a good question i think he's pretty shown that he's pretty intellectually limited in the same way that george w. bush was was limited in some ways this makes obama more culpable because he wasn't intellectually limited i'm not sure what biden knows and what biden doesn't know he strikes me as a pretty empty vessel he has throughout his political career shifted with the winds remember he was the super predator and. orchestrated the whole militarization of the police the explosion of mass incarceration the 3 strikes you're out was even though his own son struggled with addiction i sense a kind of vacuity there but you know again that's conjecture sounds like he's
3:27 pm
a guy who's been playing a role. yeah i mean that's what he does and it's what i that's what political theater is about you play a role look reagan that's reagan did that very well and so did trump i mean let's hand it to trump he did it better than jeb bush mitt romney and all the others but that's what it's become it's not about substance it's about playing a role and he plays a role is kind of like being there early they trot him out any reads from the teleprompter chris hedges nobody like him thanks chris always a great conversation thanks for the call and thanks for the wisdom pretty good. that is our news thanks so much for being with us i'm rick sanchez by the way when we come back we're going to tell you more about what's going on throughout the day and the situation the rush hour with someone walking into a school killing people. mainstream
3:28 pm

change you have to be honest you have to tell the truth archie's able to do that every story is built on going after the back story to what's really happening out there to the american public what's happening when a corporation makes a pharmaceutical chills people when a company in the environmental business insert polluting a river that causes chancer and other illnesses they put all the health risk all the dangers out to the american public those are stories that we tell every we can you know want they're working. our way i hope there is a money a lot of your stimulus check because you're actually might going to need it especially if you're planning on driving somewhere soon a national emergency declaration has been declared as a cyber attack is shut down the u.s. is the largest pipeline causing already high gas prices to soar even more now some

say possibly as high as $1.00 within the next few days we're going to discuss the political fallout with our expert and if you were considering building a house chances are you are wishing you started sooner as a lumber prices have caused new home construction to be on average $38000.00 more today than it was just 3 months ago i guess is a buy is being put on well the rising cost of lumber that's an easy $1.00 buying the trees but to use that really accurate mortgage broker especially a dairy boyd is going to join us with her analysis and a divorce is rarely easy especially if it involves a mega fortune but the drama around. bill and melinda gates just took a turn for the nasty as melinda is publicly revealing she sought the advice of attorneys back in 2019 regarding her husband's ties to jeffrey i've seen so could we finally be able to find out the details regarding the relationship between the 2 men and what i.
