that's russia. it's happened in a russian city called cazan where authorities with the national anti-terrorism agency say the shooter has now been apprehended the area is in lockdown motive is still unknown expect to get a lot more information on this story and we're going to be following it for you throughout this newscast throughout the day but there's another tragedy that's taking place in another part of the world and this one is. this was not a surprise because it's been occurring off and on now for almost 70 years and that's about how long this conflict between the israelis and the palestinians has been going on in fact overnight it's really heated up violence shelling aerial attacks have been occurring we've we've been monitoring these pictures furnished by the associated press and they show the constant. clock the anti-aircraft of the shooting this is in the area of gaza and jerusalem by the way

where some of these incidents of taken place in fact i want to share with you some headlines this is from haaretz right it's one of israel's leading newspapers there report that israeli defense forces have assassinated the chief of islamic jihad's special rocket unit here's another headline from the rats $28.00 palestinians in gaza 10 children reported to have been killed during the attack and expect those numbers to change throughout the course of the day israel has also killed 3 top israeli job militants according to the government and dozens of israelis have also been wounded from shelling coming in from the palestinian border so. what is the genesis of all of this it's a bitter dispute over settlements as israelis move into neighborhoods and inadequate they call it vixens the palestinians argue they're not if the actions

they're simply forced displacements so are palestinians being affected as part of a routine real estate conflict or are they being forced off their own land as an illegal displacement this is what we are going to be debating right here on the news rick sanchez let's get at it where we believe it's time to do news again. all right these the question as we think will come to mind to you as you watch this newscast displacement or evictions which is occurring to palestinians what is the latest coming out of the gruesome tragedy and because on russia will be there also are sanctions really the way to solve global conflicts. ok we're going to get involved with the bloody conflict in gaza and the images coming in which seem to

show the continual back and forth between 2 peoples that have a seem to be able to find a compromise or a way to get along and more than 60 years with the latest source of friction is all about something called 'd 'd the settlements. john hardy worked for years about war correspondent based in jerusalem he reports today on the latest in the overnight fighting between the palestinians and the israelis. 2 israelis have been killed and at least $26.00 palestinians including reportedly 9 children in gaza as the cross border fighting intensifies in what has been the most intense escalation of fighting since 6 days of cross border fire in november 2019. in israel 2 women were killed when a rocket hit their apartment building in the city of ashkelon just north of the gaza strip more than 400 rockets have been fired from gaza into israel since monday as israel continues to launch air strikes on targets in gaza the i.d.f.

israel defense forces says it has struck 130 quote unquote military targets in gaza according to a military spokesperson mostly belonging to hamas the i.d.f. says 90 percent of the rockets that penetrated the gaza israeli border were intercepted by israel's iron dome defense system at least 122 people meanwhile have been reportedly injured in israel since monday all this as the protests and violence also continues in east jerusalem and the old city where the clashes started about a month ago when israeli residents in a neighborhood of east jerusalem received a court order to have it 6 palestinian families while that case plays out in court the violence only increased the past month old so many erupting to the point we're seeing now fueled by political instability in both israel and the west bank. and the i.d.f. the israel defense forces says about 90 percent by the way of the rockets fired

from gaza into israel are intercepted by what's called the iron dome rocket defense system and as the fighting continues wreck israel is calling up 5000 reserve soldiers as egypt is now reportedly engaged in intensive talks with israel and. hamas and islamic jihad in gaza to try the big key word try and broker a cease fire possibly something as soon as wednesday but that said israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu said that the fact that rockets from gaza were aimed at jerusalem crossed a quote unquote red line and that israel he said what it's hack in response with increased strength and frequency john hardy reporting for us on the situation that continues even as we speak in gaza between the israelis and the palestinians thanks so much john joining us now. israeli author who argues for a palestinian rights also joining us is alan grayson who was a former congressman from florida who argues the defense of israelis but that's

policies my thanks to both of you for being with us you come at this from conflicting points of view alan let me start with you the conversation really is a lot about the settlements the israelis say look there are fictions the palestinians say no they're not there are people being forced off of their own land how would you characterize. i don't think that makes a difference what matters of the facts not the words that we use to describe them i think it's fair to say that the israelis have been aggressive in trying to clear land for settlers for many years what's most important at this particular moment is that this conflict is occurring right at the time when the most inclusive government and israeli history was about to be formed and i have to think that extremists on both sides are doing everything they can to prevent this unity government from being formed and that's why we're seeing what we are seeing today we go what do you make of that the fact that you know we're not going to get an

argument alan suggests about what words we call it whether they're being forced off their land or they're being evicted that we really need to look at is the fact that we have the potential to form a government that's actually going to be able to help the palestinians. you know player this lot of this spirals because he knows this is this way. makes a great deal of difference. this year later some of the introduction. and some. words. it's actually. it's exactly what is. joining. us. live it's just so. serious. they are so to speak.

defend israelis actions because they do appear certainly image wise to be extremely aggressive and let's face it. the palestinian. seem like david here compared to ally of to use a biblical love phrase. well rick it's difficult to defend israel against the kind of crazy talk that we just heard from your other guest to compare what's happened in the west bank to quote ethnic cleansing is incredibly irresponsible all the settlers together occupied less than 10 percent of the west bank if you think about the actual issues the incidence of ethnic cleansing that we've seen historically like our media and i compare that to what's happening now in israel and it's almost criminal to talk about it that way and when you're talking about it with such extreme terms and and yes that words do start to matter because you're vilifying an entire people you're vilifying the people of israel which isn't the 1st time that's

happened so. question that listen i agree with this or whatever israel's right to like when i was in congress i agree with president obama whenever president obama is right and that's it that's as far as i go but i think that there's a real danger in trying to turn people against an entire culture against an entire nationality like your guest is trying to do against israel right now you make it sound he says. like the israelis are just by nature evil people like your demonizing them the way some argue they might try and demonize palestinians how do you respond to alan accusation against you. there. is a general. it's. reality

. you know if you. think. it's. because. there's a crowd. where. there's an. artist 1st. rico what about and if you could keep your answer to 30 years i want to get allen i want to get on the last word but what about the rocket fire 'd in israel that the
