was how happy she was with her life the city bid farewell to her today it was. she was a great student very kind very ambitious and responsible she's been heading towards this job for all her life it was short but still the ultimate goal was this job and this is a big loss for the university because our not so many people like us who want this job so badly and want to educate our children when the launch and obery and she was very kind she always covered up for us because we were a very noisy and difficult class were really means behaved and the teacher spoke badly about us but she always helped us she was not strict she even couldn't really shout at anybody because our absolutely devastated community is grief stricken you know the city's heart has been has been shattered but aside from grief terrible grief there is also agger people wanted them but their monthly bill how this happened how this was allowed to happen how the shooter flew under the

radar how he was given a valid license and why no red flags were raised when he was hundreds of rounds of ammunition in the middle of a city again it's too early to jump to conclusions but it is evident at this point that there were shortfalls in security at the school and perhaps and we should all governing. because on the shooting suspect has been identified as a 19 year old he's also a former student of the school where the attack took place he used a pump action shotgun for which he had a legally obtained license now after c.c.t.v. footage to eventually emerged online it turns out the suspect was brazenly carrying the gun in the open all the way to school here on the program we'll show you a small map you can see where he ultimately left his home walked approximately 10 minutes journey that is all the way to the school but the question remains as to why no passers by called the police to alert them that there's a 19 year old walking down the street with
12:32 pm
a fully loaded pump action shotgun it's one of a number of issues that has been has raised including what might have led the suspect to carry out such an attack and those who knew him said it went totally against his character. thank you good we met this boy before he's our neighbor and i remember his face i noticed that she had a very intelligent appearance he was a very tidy i've never seen him head and now it was annie dubious people she was a good boy and was always so quiet he also held me in the past with the tonsil language i don't know why he became like these i don't know what happens to him as a very good and well mannered family i only had to good at being enough him well thanks for joining us here in our international for this hour's news program now my colleague you know neil will be here in about 27 minutes time for what is expected to be an action packed evening program with our sights. on the middle east we are back with.

they are strikes on gaza have been launched by israel following hamas rocket fire on jerusalem so will the united states be able to stay out of the conflict we're going to discuss and the covert vaccine has been approved for ages $12.00 to $15.00 does this mean mandatory vaccination for middle schoolers are in the future this as senator rand paul has taken dr fell to task about the origins of coded bin swan joins us to discuss plus is the u.s. government paying people not to work well dr wolfe will help with decide and meanwhile is a google going back on the word and still tracking your activity we're going to update you on the latest and what you can do about it i am starting now here you can all of these stories on today's edition of newsweek right here on our to america i.
12:34 pm
we start the show with escalating conflict between the israelis and the palestinians now you are currently looking at a live picture on the left of your screen. of the israel gaza border as the nice quiet seems to be very quiet now but that is in large comparison to the video on your right is earlier when the skyline was being lit up by fire power from both sides now sirens are going off across all of israel and both sides seem to show signs the fighting is going to continue to escalate and there is a lot of there's a lot of volved in the scituate situation and people on both sides of the conflict i have to say this are very passionate and the support for their group very passionate but i actually want to look past that is that's what a lot of people right now are doing today they're trying to obviously back up the side that they belong on i actually want to look at what the world the u.s. has played and possibly could play in this conflict and does it actually help or hurt the situation so help me with there's question about the united states'
12:35 pm
involvement in the region during this time every day mcadams executive director of the ron paul institute thanks for joining me daniel. but i'm scotty i want to 1st look at the u.s. is relationship right now with israel with and with the palestinian state under the biden administration you know president trump was actually very close with israel made it very open has that changed under president biden. well you're right sorry the things if things are getting very very bad and you know of course it means committing united states is portraying it as if i'm us woke up one morning and decide to start bombing and that's of course not the case that we don't foresee leading up to this for several days now with the attacks on the al aqsa mosque etc but the you know the blood administration yes the trumpet ministers was very very vocally pro israel very strong in its actions in favor of israel it might be tempting to see the by the administration as being more even handed i would suggest that's not the case joe biden has a long history in washington decades in washington he's always been
12:36 pm
a very ardent supporter of israel is called himself a committed zionist and once back in 86 on the floor of the senate he said if israel didn't exist the united states of america would have to invent israel because it's such a wonderful thing in the middle east so i think by and large with some pressure from the progressive flake of his own party which has been pretty much marginalized i would say overall u.s. policy is about the same with perhaps slightly less enthusiasm on the bottom ministrations i said i have to ask you why is this happening now considering we have seen peace in this region especially to this large scale always back in 2014 but definite the 4 years i mean president trapped you know why is this happening today 3 months is that anything to do with us are there something else happening within the region. well i think a lot of things are happening right now that are coming together we've seen the tension between israel and hamas but let's not forget that the israelis are seen to be incapable of forming a government netanyahu has been unpopular at home is not able to form a government this is all in the course of broader context which maybe we'll talk
12:37 pm
about later of the ongoing talks in the vienna where the biden ministration is finding it so difficult task getting back into the j.c. peel away the iran deal which the course biden promised he would do we do know that he often yahoo will pull out all stops the israeli government pull out all stops to prevent that from happening and so i think you have to you have to look at this escalation of the last 24 hours in that context as well so is this current conflict that's happening right now you mentioned i've said it a scipio obviously iranian all this sort of fit together as a puzzle you know in this conflict in this conflict you say that you know american bite has obviously been pro israel but obviously pro palestine as well as us has to state what role do you think that america is playing in and do you think they're going to be able to stay out of it for how long. well america's never been any. an honest broker in the middle east it's always taken the side of israel there's no question even the state department spokesman today couldn't bring himself to say
12:38 pm
that the palestinians also have the right to self-defense he only could mention the israeli rockets that. their house in iraq is who are targeting israeli civilians well the fact of the matter is the israelis do have several high rise housing complexes which definitely are so villian so yes so the aliens are being targeted on both sides but a portion of the united states once again is incapable of seeing that both sides are on the receiving end of rockets and weapons well but this being said i remember during the obama administration one of the accusations that come out is that american taxpayer dollars actually went to run against benjamin netanyahu and his election underneath obama which obviously biden was very much president so could you actually think that you know netanyahu biden is a huge supporter of what is going on in israel right now considering he basically tried to get him out said when he was vice president with president obama well this shows the folly of u.s. interventionist foreign policy or no you pick one side and it wins you pick another
12:39 pm
side it loses and you're stuck in the middle the best thing for america would to do would be to completely get out of the middle east stop supporting either side supporting one side or the other in the us that means supporting israeli of the palestinians it doesn't help the israelis doesn't help the americans it doesn't help the palestinians really it just makes matters worse the best way we can so we can work toward peace in the middle east is to completely give disengage the united states well and that i think is something that we can all agree on that anytime obvious and that sort of sounded like election interference from what i heard but you know i guess it only matters if one of the countries accused out of the side of the us i do want to talk about you know the benjamin accords have a something that is under the trumpet ministration does that have any impact on how our other middle eastern countries are responding at this point. well right now we haven't seen much response you know if it depends with netanyahu is promising an escalation hamas has shown remarkable ability to fire a number of missiles far more than the israelis expected in the very expensive iron
12:40 pm
dome defense system has not has not knocked down these missiles and i think it's surprising israelis to a degree i don't know that they will want to see an escalation i think that the partners in the benjamin accords are abraham accords are going to be very has to turn this well but the israelis have got to see if they're having problems with a few 100 palestinian rockets what's going to happen if iran if hezbollah in lebanon decide to get involved and as well it's going to be a bloodbath so it really is in israel's best interest at this point to back down and look for some way to reach an accord but at that point israel said i'm not going to bite right now israel's sort of depending on the u.s. if that was to happen and all of those folks he said were to actually bind together against israel isn't israel going to turn around say ok look at to us time to for you to step in. i don't know that they'd want to do that they may have to in the end i think the u.s.
12:41 pm
would probably be the 1st of all interior if that were the case let's hope it doesn't come to that but israel is left with not a lot of options yes it has nuclear weapons but it certainly can't use them on its neighbors because it would be right in the middle of the radiation blowback so they're pretty limited right now when they're surrounded by groups that they're irritating further and further you know what they could do was back off and stop stealing palestinian homes in east jerusalem so the settlers to back off and i think really the body administration could deliver a message like that to netanyahu and maybe it's in a better position than trump was to deliver that message you know was definitely a different especially interesting to see how the u.s. you know that actually i hope i agree with you i hope they stay out of it i don't think that haven't both sides however today at this point seem to be digging in their sails conflict does not seem like it's going to end soon and sadly and this is what really hurts the people on the ground more bloodshed is expected on both sides thank you so much for joining us thanks scotty.
12:42 pm
the f.d.a. has it cleared under their emergency orders the use of the pfizer vaccine for children 12 to 15 years old with pfizer actually hoping to have the vaccine available get this for ages 2 to 11 in september now this latest approval will give almost 17000000 children access to the vaccine at a time when the latest numbers actually show people under 18 account for only one out of every 5 new chronic virus infection but are extremely low risk of actually having a symptom more than a cold hospitalization and even death so this is good news well we bring investigative journalism business want to help us figure this out and then let me guess this need is did not come as a surprise to you but tell us what we know about the study which cleared pfizer vaccine for children in this age group. yeah it's pretty concerning here so a couple of things this study essentially is saying that kids who are as you said you know 12 to 15 and 16 and over are all eligible now to actually receive the
12:43 pm
coded vaccine the problem of course with this as you rightly said in the intro here is that young people teenagers children are the least susceptible we know this the least susceptible to cohabit in terms of the seriousness of the virus they are very likely to either be asymptomatic meaning they show no symptoms at all or they have very light cases of it and so you have to ask the question why would you allow for tens of millions of children and teenagers across the country to receive a vaccination for a virus that has been proven it's not suspected it's proven to have a mild effect on them to receive this vaccination at all especially when you consider the fact that it's still being deployed and still being used on an f.d.a. emergency basis we do not know all of the side effects of these vaccines because of the fact of the f.d.a. hasn't reviewed them so why would you approve this for children and for young
12:44 pm
people who we know are the least susceptible to serious conditions as a result of coping well and i have to ask if parents are looking at this now possibly might be required and followed by some states what is the difference between and this vaccine why can't they just group it in a require it like they do all the other vaccines that are required for school age children. well there's a lot of there's a big difference the biggest difference is there's not a single vaccine that your kids are required to have when they go to school that is being issued under an f.d.a. emergency usage rights and that's so important for parents to understand if we're talking about getting back to school in the fall and you're right this is why the reason why this is being pushed right now is to say by the time we have a fall every school age child is going to probably be required to be vaccinated but all the other vaccines that you're supposed to have and by the way in many states you're allowed to have either religious exemption or a medical exemption because we know for a fact when it comes to all vaccines not every single person is safe taking every
12:45 pm
single kind of vaccine people are different we know this but there's not a single other vaccine for all the ones that are out there where it's being issued under an emergency basis therefore there's been no 0 f.d.a. study of the effects that it will have long term on kids we do not know what it is and so the idea that you would mandate this look it's a way of getting around what's being referred to as vaccine as it in c. it can't get the parents to do it but you can force the kids to do it or else you can come back to class which is quite frankly insane well and polio small packs minute. it's all of those that kids are in fact safe or actually affect kids and more than just like a snifter so i think that's a huge difference you're right about the f.d.a. then why have you i would like you dolphin weigh in on dr fallon she being questioned today about if it ever rand paul regarding the origin of the credit iris and why we still have not held anyone accountable for it. i just found the report sending money to the we've gone viral a-g. institute we do not send money now to do we want. more in sending money we did
12:46 pm
under your tutelage we were sending it through eco health it was a sub agency and as grant do you support the money from an age that was going to the woman on institute let me explain to you why that was done. the saunas kolby one originated in bats in china it would have been responsible of us if we did not investigate the bat viruses and the surrounded g to see who might have been or perhaps. descended to the chinese government that we may not be able to trust with this knowledge and with this is incredibly dangerous viruses government scientists like yourself who favor again a function i don't favor again evaluation research into ninety's you are saying that that are not correct this was created by friday watch and i real quick i got to ask you what is gain of function research and what is the u.s.
12:47 pm
actually finding yes so so again a function research is literally taking coronavirus cells and making them attach better to humans that's what you gain if that's what gain a function literally means because a coronavirus when it moves from an animal to a human most coronaviruses like sars for instance are not very effective at making that leap from animals to humans again a function research which has gone on in the united states since 2002 to 2014 there's plenty of documents that prove that we were funding it through different universities including the university of north carolina in 2014 the obama administration said you cannot do this anymore because you're trying to make coronaviruses attach better to human cells instead of ending at the in h. move offshore to china to 6 different labs including the rule of a biology all of this is laid out in documents it's very clear what he said today in front of rand paul. all was a lie when he said that the u.s. government. he says have never funded been
12:48 pm
a function research it's an absolute lie on thursday i'm actually releasing a document in the podcast we're going to show you documents that actually prove that in 2016 it was very clearly happening and the. were essentially saying we're proud of the work we're doing to create again a function research on coronavirus and you don't have to investigate to hard to find that and they found a loophole in this maybe they didn't directly give they gave it their eco health eco health which i'm sure you'll explain then like always we're just beginning to dive into it and i know you'll hold their feet to the fire as you continue to gain more and more research you got it thanks thank you scott. and when we return the i'm a are americans being incentivized to stay at home rather than get a job or is this just another part of the recovery process our expert will join us to discuss.
12:49 pm
the world is driven by dreamers shaped by the interests of those great. thinks. we should ask. the list of states ending a federal pandemic unemployment benefit is growing but iowa arkansas montana alabama and south carolina jumping on board 1st. but hold on we're actually saying stay cover ments deny federal money oh i do way as hell just frozen over well dr
12:50 pm
will be thinking that if the system when it capitalism fails to save us from pandemics or itself joins me now dr wolfe thank you so much thank you you know president by the last latest press conference he had this to say about the disappointing unemployment numbers that were just rolled out we're going to make it clear that anyone collecting unemployment who is all for to a suitable job must take the job or lose their unemployment benefits that's the law no one should be allowed to game the system it's easy to say the line has been because of the generous unemployment benefits that is a major factor in labor shortages i think people who claim americans won't work even if they find a good and fair opportunity under estimate the american people dr wolf i have to ask you what does it say about a society where this is even something which is need to be addressed by the highest
12:51 pm
office in the united states. well i think we're seeing a pretty ugly spectacle the employers in the in those states are powerful enough and unpressed pyatt to get the governor of the state the legislature to not accept federal money and there's nothing there's no nice way to say this if you take away the extra $300.00 per week that is given to unemployed people to help them get through the worst pandemic in a century if you take it away you're making those people suffer and you're basically saying ok now you better go back to work because that will at least be better than doing without the $300.00 we can give them $300.00 to work or not work we gave them $300.00 because it was that the isa right thing to do since they were unemployed used up their savings and all the rest this is
12:52 pm
a pretty ugly ploy tell force them back to work and you know this i mean you're easier alternative if you want people to come back to work if you want to overcome the so called labor shortage raise the wages that will bring the people back they don't want to live on the employment compensation there's plenty of studies that show that so this is this is the same basic policy that led to not raising the minimum wage to $15.00 an hour because you want people that you can get to work for less it now turns out that you have to force them and we shouldn't be in the business of doing that and you're right the federal government for sure shouldn't be doing well and that's why they had i get in the river my people were working with because prices were close and business owners had to shut down they weren't getting a fair let's tax to keep them open without actual business happening that means that the prices are opening up they are offering what they can in their budget or
12:53 pm
lucky that somebody. we're able to survive as we thing a huge kick cut and small business from this year so how do they get their way how do you get those people motivated to actually go to work if they have high or higher wages but what if the small business can't afford people to come back we're paying those wages well you know that's always been a good question what do you do if you need to help people have a living wage on the one hand and that's the majority but you also want to help the employers particularly small businesses they particularly those have had a hard time dual goals given the minimum wage they need to have a decent life and a decent job and to help the small businesses the able to last for that we shouldn't be putting the small business which has suffered against the workers they need to hire who has suffered that lets the people at the top of this system enjoy
12:54 pm
the fighting below them let's help bolster the workers who need and deserve it and to small businesses we sure can do both given the amounts of money we're spending to get our economy growing there's no reason to short change these 2 and i could agree with you on that but the problem is in the factor analysis in small business is really suffer we're saying the n. word that's completely different from these large corporations that have seen their revenue growth through the roof in their c.e.o. like jeff bezos like or bill gates all of those have seen a really great boost in there but if these small business owners are hurting they can't afford a $15.00 minimum wage the government stepping in but also the problem is we the taxpayers end up paying for whatever else the government can have how can we continue to have this check written when middle class ultimately can't have that are having a hard time with taxes as it is. scotty i think you've answered your own question you did it well you know if i were a teacher and you were a student give me a good grade that i did want and i need one. who is nice here's the story let's go
12:55 pm
after the people who made a fortune during the pandemic when we had all these people unemployed all these small businesses that we want and need to survive go belly up let's go after those who did really well and say it's time you already the richest people in this country to make a contribution so we can give workers a decent minimum wage and save our small businesses taxing them or finding other ways to move the money around is a reasonable way to respond to the exceptional circumstances of an economic crash and a pandemic that we're still living through talk about how for if there are these guys actually paying out more than their fair share there who actually have fairly share they're the same guys that contribute to the politician to make these growth once again dr always great to talk to you thank you.
12:56 pm
and google is getting slapped with a new lawsuit this time over privacy violations and while the tech giant has promised to not sell user data as what lawsuit claims they're doing just that want to talk this way he joins us live with more. google actually walking back their statement of protection protecting privacy after this lawsuit service. well good evening sky despite this new lawsuit alleging that google is selling users' personal information the tech giant continues to deny those claims and get this according to the lawsuit google made more than 147000000000 dollars through selling personal information now what they're calling a digital footprint includes things like browsing history interests various locations and ethnicity and that's something google said it would never do and so this information is believed to be collected through different apps and products such as you tube and google chrome gratian shocking they're not going by the world
12:57 pm
but in this lawsuit actually isn't a huge surprise to you know we've actually no google has been charge of something simular similar actually in the past. yes not exactly several times and just a few weeks back the australia competition consumer commission actually won a victory over google the court ruled that google had in fact misled consumers in relation to their location data the tech giant lead users to believe if they turned off location history that google would stop collecting location data but that wasn't the case since google was automatically defaulted on other apps take a listen we see today as usual since a very clear message to the digital platforms that they have to be up front was consumers about. what is actually happening with how it's being used and how consumers could in fact protect. but it's not clear if the outcome does in
12:58 pm
fact. send a clear message back in 21000 the u.s. federal trade commission find google and you tube 170000000 dollars for illegally collecting personal information from children without their parents' consent scotty very troubling and you would think if they spent a lot of they had to pay out that they would actually stop the practice showing that they're not but speaking of children and the owner of facebook instagram mark zuckerberg has actually come out saying they're working to create an instagram targeted for kids but it sounds like there's already kind of a push back from the public. and it's not just parents u.s. state attorneys general from 40 different states are urging facebook to do away with those plans of creating an instagram for kids letter said social media can be detrimental to the health and well being of children but also pointed out that facebook has failed to protect the welfare of children on its platforms its facebook's most person so that the platform is still in the early stages and that it will not contain any ads however of the letter calls the app intended for kids age 6 through 12 a shameful attempt to exploit and profit off vulnerable people and the interesting
12:59 pm
thing in all of all of this is that the bird himself said in the past that he would not allow his daughter to start a facebook account until she was at least 13 so very very interesting to tell you like the kid that all ages are already on the go figure thank you. thank you. and that's all for today show in the meantime follow me on twitter at scotty and hughes use the hash tag team and be a british show and more make sure you download the portable got to the app thank you for watching if you fuse or we want to empower you to make your own views on today's news and so next time.
