the east coast was hit by a sign for attack last friday hackers locked up computer systems and demanded a ransom to release them the attack is raising concerns about just how vulnerable the nation's critical infrastructure remains well colonial resumed its normal operations monday drivers are still feeling the crunch several states including north carolina and virginia have declared a state of emergency as a result of the gas shortage however officials say there is no reason to hoard gas as it will still take a few days for operations to get up and running at normal levels that it set up ghastly in these areas that motorists simply park their cars for a few days and conserve as much as possible but some motorists aren't so sure even while filling up certain types of fuel are also on low s. and p's oil price information service with the number of gas stations encountering shortages at more than 1000 in virginia 7.7 percent of the state's nearly $3900.00 gas stations reported running out of fuel tuesday and in north carolina 8.5 percent
1:31 am
of the state's $5400.00 gas stations were out while they're helping reports of price gouging gas prices were rising even before the pipeline incident and now with summer approaching summer worried about the busy driving season ahead government officials are taking action to assure the public there is no reason to feel alarmed over the shortage the environmental protection agency reportedly lifted some fuel quality requirements on an emergency basis and the transportation department is also relaxed and some work for standards to have railroads deliver fuel in lines reporting for news feeds houston hospice suites are at sea. now most industries in the u.s. are starting to get back to work but car manufacturer is actually having to reverse the course or start shutting down did you know most of the 4 plants have been shut down for several weeks here in the united states and g.m. is likely to do the same but it's not for the coronavirus so tell us about why domestic car lot seem a little bit more desolate these days we were going found a partner at
1:32 am
a synergy advisory manager group elsie and to thank you so much for joining me on this. thank you very much for having me today ok so andrew the u.s. environmental protection agency states that the average weight this is the average weight of a car and 20 is about 4000 pounds of that size we're talking about and small little piece which is causing automobile bill manufacturers to stop production here in the u.s. so what exactly is causing all of the trouble these small loom simone conductor chips that we just don't have enough of right now and that is causing a major major problem here this is why i want to move beetles to the dealers in the u.s. well and that's i think you know we knew there was going to be a supply chain issues so why did it me out a matter i don't feel many factors took anything to prevent this i want to tell you other technological industries are still going and they have 2000 same little chips . right i know but you know we had such a meter you know it's a supply and demand type of thing with regards to the coronavirus and people
1:33 am
staying at home all of the demand for tronics and everything like that so basically that caused a major supply demand issue and with regards to you want to go into streets been up ended because of that we just don't have enough chips to. you know supply the cars with different parts of the car that you may not make with regards to entertainment systems we just don't have it shipped to that driver assistance systems cruise control things like that so that's why right now there's a major issue going on and gordon g.m. can't complete some of their cars and they're going to have to make some changes for next year and or abby i think you i honestly did not even realize this was going on it's actually been happening for several weeks now my actual that i talked to my dad it was like i can't get a car hope you're not planning on looking for one lately and then i start looking around and notice
1:34 am
a lot if their ship had some very scarth some scarth parking lots and for them so but some are and some are not i think that's a big key here what car brands are actually being affected by this and who is not. well the only being affected is the top of the line you know vehicles you know for instance like. you see nice and b.m.w. having meet your problems because a lot of their cars meet come with seats that move like 18 to 24 different ways and they're just not being able to produce them because they don't have the chips so you know that's one of the problem right now is that they can't get the chip supply to get some of the features so a lot of the cars are going to come in a little bit more stripped down and that's what i think we're going to see you know in the beginning at the end of this year they're going in next year when. the supply you know will come back hopefully in the next 6 to 9 months which that does
1:35 am
not make a because they're buying the high end cars they like all the bells and whistles and we're facing right now you know with all that's got everything going on gas right now the joke at the electric and hybrid car owners are just driving by and smiling and watch and waiting are we still at this hour electric and hybrid car say the tesla being affected by this absence. well you know all the car manufacturers are or are being affected to some clearly but really it really is the high end manufacturers that are the ones that are having the most problems here and trying to get out you didn't for it it's having a big problem with the sort of one city you know it it's got some you know premium equipment on the on the vehicle and it just you know having problems getting it out you know we talk about if you've ever like running that engine of your hood it's like i do absolutely need a computer degree to try to even change my oil at this age it's become very technical and i think this is probably one of those drawbacks as compared to maybe
1:36 am
3040 years where anybody could just you know actually go in there and just follow the steps and you can get car working again i'm a little bit wondering if this is having any effect actually on the market itself you know i've tried to look at for stock truck a car stocks is this actually having a hard effect on an industry that's had a real tough year yeah i mean see also been flat for a long time right now and right now the demand this is very high right now coming out of the pandemic people want to spend a lot of money on cars these seem to have some money and they're ready to spend but you know the supply is just not really dear and i just would think it's going to happen a step however i think you know manufacturers are going to be able to demand higher prices because of the issue of not being able to you know get the goods vehicles to dealers and that's a problem higher prices you know right now you might have money but that doesn't mean in 5 years for most people pay off their car they still have that same cash in the pocket and thank you so much for joining i think it will and cited this i
1:37 am
imagine more people are going to start looking at it as the weeks go by go by and they realize they don't have any vehicle options right now say because rental cars can't find a real car right now i was told so lots of obviously different demands that people don't realize thanks for joining us thanks for having me today. when we return the olympic games have already faced many challenges post pandemic but now will social justice movements be the most crippling effect of them are. totally utterly. lowest lowest place
1:38 am
. but if you were when you came from but that was with a chance. to grow the agency of a major overhaul for. us to keep the insurance you offered. which 93 did that i didn't know was reasonable because a lot of my think if you can't. flush a little fish not go for the beautiful bill and want to be sure that it is the kids at least 2 that they share a small bible with us from the us was something she could. possible of the boys schooled once this issue will. go well for the group sort out the story could get a good beat and if we did those initial by years of too much interest but you mean yes to clutter ceased door why much as they should but they see it because when you get out of the scott. peterson you're chicago's 3 securities off
1:39 am
what she has missed. so what we've got to do is identify the threats that we have it's crazy to confront ation let it be an arms race in this on off and this very dramatic development only closely i'm going to resist i don't see how that strategy will be successful very critical dying time to sit down and talk. new york is really what america is about. when our mayor took office he was elected because of his campaign on our city being a tale of 2 cities the haves and the have nots and those who have not are usually
1:40 am
the ones who wind up being buried on hard out the city has always wanted to forget about. what. city is want to forget about the people who are buried there want to forget about the fact that there is a potter's field that there is a place where difficult stories started the fact that we're using inmates to maintain this active burial site where 1000000 souls are buried where so much of new york city history is very is testament of the inequality that has existed in this city for centuries. the international olympic committee has voted and decided they're not going to allow a black lives matter to be involved in this year's olympic games now to $500.00 athletes were surveyed the last year and 70 percent agree pushing personal
1:41 am
political views from one country while participating in the olympics was inappropriate so did the i.o.c. make the right decision now i want to be fair there's been forms of protests in the past for various social movements and the i.o.c. has come out early outlining what is and what is not allowed at this year's games so to help us face discussion we bring in new journeys chief of staff pace with and thank you so much for joining me a.j. . thank you for having me and less to be here ok so let's 1st just start off and kind of tell our audience what exactly with black lives matter one thing to be able to do in this year's olympic games. so they want to be able to make a political stance about racial inequality systemic racism here in america and probably where different different things on their jerseys similar to what we see in the n.b.a. in places like that where you see black life matter even on the court but they want to make
1:42 am
a political ok and i understand that here in america we're all americans obviously we all for most for they are familiar with the issue but i do have some concern about putting that on who were. world stage when you have many many countries each of them having their own issues are trying to deal with do they feel like why did the i.o.c. say you know what we're going to go want to do this now we're going to preempt it and we're going to just say here's a roll of what you can and can't do were they afraid that this was going to actually make it become the story of the olympics it's why you know why whenever you take a strong stance in today's culture is the story the fact that you believe that you have a right to draw boundaries people get upset about that people don't like to be told what's right from wrong they don't want to hear that their political statement isn't important in terms of the olympics so that's the i.o.c. job is to draw their boundary they are expecting players to come in to be fashionable and to represent their country not their movement and not themselves so
1:43 am
how has a black was not a responded here in america to these new rules have they put out anything or how any public response. well i think they're from people on the left making comments about how you know it's taking away speech rights and things like that but i think that should totally be ignored if you understand the point of the island thinks this is america versus the rest of the world this is a time for us to unify around or this is not political this is supposed to be competitive and the end of the day we want to let this to be fun and i'm glad the i.o.c. took a strong stance was interesting because let's move it back here to home because it seems like the i.o.c. can take a stand to keep politics out of sports yet domestically here in america our own aesthetic organizations can't seem to avoid it why is that and is that a good thing for that the sports business selves. well there is that or fortunate
1:44 am
downturn has happened in sports where even sportscasters are constantly throwing around little hole statements you have people calling on george or calling it you know slave laws when they passed laws tightening their election in sports has become political but the reason why i think a lot of people want to be social justice warriors a lot of people want to you know quite frankly they want to get attention for themselves they're building their own brand and it's a peer pressure thing if you want needle at the game from the other players will call you out it's unfortunate the way that our culture has gone sports is supposed to be about unity it's supposed to be about team or you're supposed to be being a good example to young people and you're supposed to be being professional this is your job this is not the place for you to be making political statements and protesting now the n.b.a. allows it and that's their prerogative but i agree with the i.o.c. the olympics is not the place for this kid that home well and that's i think it has
1:45 am
happened before you know over 50 years ago there were 2 olympians tommy smith and john carlos actually lost their medals because they raise a fist during the u.s. national anthem at the 1968 olympics in mexico city they were protesting the same thing racial injustice so these bans are actually nothing new you know i have to ask why did the backlash writer think that they would be the exception when this president this rule had already been been set up long for decades. right well keep in mind i can't wear and i love jesus pin i you know as much as i am i think that's important i can speak out against you know the slave labor that's going on in china like none of these things is the point of the olympics and they've been clear about that for a long time i think that's why they've been able to be so strong about this when you have a clear standard that applies to everyone no one should expect to be above that not even black lives matter although here in the u.s.
1:46 am
it's become kind of a right to snitch if you're a social justice anti-racist warrior and you walk around with a black live matter hat as if that doing anything to help black people which black flags matter is not so the olympics is not the place for him to be political stances supporting movements that are getting billions of dollars and doing nothing for black people and we need to keep force as force force is not the you know it's not protesting on the streets it's not even really honestly what has it really done to improve things for everyday black people so let's just let's just simplify this and i wish we could do something like this in the united states well it will be interesting to see if there are still other ways obviously for people to have a freedom of expression and i'm sure everybody always finds a way whether it's on their own social media or in their own private life a.j. thank you for joining us today thank you for having me it's a pleasure. well republicans have gone and done it and actually they did something
1:47 am
that is extremely rare in politics they have voted to oust one of their own representative live cheney over her past comments and lack of support for the former president trump agenda from her leadership position but she is not going to go out silently. the nation needs a strong republican party the nation needs a party that that is based upon fundamental principles of conservatism and i am committed and dedicated to ensuring that that's how this party goes forward and i plan to lead the fight to do that i will do everything i can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the oval office we have seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language we have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the constitution and i think it's very important that we make sure whomever we elect is somebody who will be faithful to
1:48 am
the constitution now the vote for her only took 16 minutes so obviously house members had already made up their mind when they walked into that room but people today are asking the question did liz take this stand on principle and like she said wanted to protect the constitution or is she trying to make a name for herself for the 2024 presidential election amongst a certain group of the g.o.p. and the biggest question is any of this good for the republican party what about the 360 view of this family feud we bring in our panel do you talking to a guy who's a former georgia state representative and conservative commentator and a strategist rory reilly thank you ladies for joining me on this one thank you happens ok so i want to start with you worry because guess what we're talking about your house today and i have to say is this really a smart move for republicans at this time considering they're only 6 seats away from reclaiming the majority should you be alienating anybody that claims to have
1:49 am
some sort of tie to the republican party at this point. well i think that you're right that they really shouldn't be looking to alienate anybody and as far as whether it's a smart move i think that from their perspective it's a smart move in the short term i don't however think it's a sure move in the long term because as we've seen trump is a very polarizing figure whether you agree with him or not i think you can agree that he's whole arising and they've said that cheney is a distraction but i would argue continuing to talk about child who is no longer in office is arguably more of a distraction than anything that was cheney was saying but dee as a democrat looking at this is there any doubt the republicans still have donald trump is the leader of this party i mean there's no other may name that has been able to come out of focus in the past even just few months trump is still this is still trump's party so if taking a listen out of office does that actually help or hurt republicans when they're trying to form an i did he post from or is this just saying guess what he's still
1:50 am
going to stick with us. well you know i hate to get a family squabbles they really don't concern me but i will say this it is great for the democratic party that the republican party is imploding because this is very much donald trump's heart and this journey was very correct history is going to judge. the republicans on this moment in time and so bay needs to get it all together or just go ahead and say you know what we can all of what you democrats without a bit of fun it's because to me liz cheney is the only one along 100 other than something they may or may. have to be good since right now you know it's interesting you say that day because honestly chuck schumer came out and he actually said this is horrible why would you do this to one as a republican looking at this goes why would we go along with chuck schumer why would we go along obviously democrats were saying we loveless cheney if you love her take her that way that she's more part of your party what the democrats be
1:51 am
perceptive if the if the republicans came out said you need to get right you need to keep you know get rid of nancy pelosi what the democrats did it not honestly kind of back up why republicans were angry at liz when her biggest chunk squad for the democrats. no not to me at all let's listen priss in georgia you had grand rapids berger who was the secretary of state who was trying to do a legitimate election and then you had the governor saying you know what i really don't see voter for all it's as well as your house and. all republicans are doing is not germane to the political party is at the core of who you are and so there are republicans not agree with there of democrats i disagree with but at the end of the day they all have to be in. this chain you have some because everyone knows from inside their right. and united states capitol. but as you watch today
1:52 am
as a republican look at everything that's going on right now in the country rory i mean gas prices with the turmoil in the middle east this would been a great day right now for the republicans to take focus on all the things and put the blame on the biden maceration instead we're talking about what just happened the republicans once again that i'm a sabotaged this new cycle to make sure they're still the ones that are being put in that quit put in the spotlight that being said republicans they're putting her under credibility they put marjorie green underneath the category but they're not actually holding the people who possibly could have done illegal actions within their own party neither to mcgrath's why is it that they're going after oddly enough females within the republican party for words that they said not necessarily the males and i'm going to 1st back to you dee as well why are we going after the men who have possibly committed criminal actions they still have their titles and their leadership positions within both parties what is it is it just a simple it's just because words are more powerful than action. well while i agree
1:53 am
generally that actions speak louder than words i think that you get to an important point here which is that unfortunately sexism runs deep and we're seeing that play out right now with these examples that you just mentioned with liz cheney and marjorie taylor green as well as some of the men that you mentioned as well that are being investigated for more serious crimes i think we clearly see a double standard and as you know that's a double standard that exists with both parties as well as outside the political spectrum i think as a society we have a lot of work to do before we really are treating men and women as equals and it's disappointing to see that it's consistently women being singled out for clearly illegal behavior whereas men are continuously given a pass for doing more agree just actions when they hold a position of power in politics andy i imagine you kind of believe in that kind of agree with that so let me ask you why are the democrats when we look at some of the things that are happening and i'm referring to representative that was actually having
1:54 am
a relationship which we now with the chinese spy all of these things are going what are the democrats doing to hold their house accountable or is it a perfectly clean house. well 1st i have to have problems even in my own personal house but what i can say is the democratic party has been the big team i mean we are always going to be gentle with sexism and racism and classism until a whole group of people probably die and go to the other side and hopefully we will be able to educate this next generation of young people to eradicate all of the isms exists here in america let me be very clear women even democratic women we run for office and when we serve we always get criticized for my hair our clothing where we're going to eat who we are in a relationship where what and so it's somewhat all the women around the world to rise up at some point because i honestly believe that the world would be a better place if women ran the entire well he might see that they had to have that
1:55 am
being time to talk they were real quick to you on this one. because of everything going on today to think how do you think the american people are viewing this as you talk to your neighbors right now or the people on the street obviously there's a lot of things going on that is actually affecting everyday household and yet this is what their focus on this is what they're spending hours upon this is not why people are don't like d.c. and why they don't like politicians right now. well i think you're right that it's why they don't like d.c.'s your point of what are people on the street saying i think that really depends on where you live we've heard people on both sides of this take really strong opinions but i think for the average person to your point this really takes away from things that are more important the gas shortage for example the economy things that really impact people who was in the conference leadership has much less of an impact on people's daily lives than some of these other issues and to your point i think that today was poorly timed given everything else that's going on in the world well unfortunately that's just how do you see
1:56 am
usually words de roy great conversation that we had i agree definitely go on better if more women were in office and guess what that's it for me now i want to follow me on twitter at scotty and he used to use the hash tag team engage in front of show and more down the portal got to be app on your android or apple device thank you for watching another tell you again our goal here is to bring you the news that you can use in order for you to form your own view will feel later.
