but we can see this round and the trends are very clear and so we believe this is much bigger operation. that's the program for this half hour here on r.t. international live from moscow we are back with more of your choose day world wide headlines. this is one business show you can't afford to miss i'm rachel in washington coming
9:31 am
up businesses across the country react to the latest fad lines from the t.v. feed but how many are removing their masks mandation the world they feel it in the t.v. was vaccinated and is it. 18 c. an ounce of the creation of the 2nd largest media company in the industry so how is the market reacting to the proposed merger between one of the media and discovery that point to a green month was you on you'll speculation over his holdings on twitter what does it all mean for the future of the world's most popular cryptocurrency we have a lot to get to select get started. major businesses across the country are reacting after the latest federal guidelines from the c.d.c. said that fully vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear a mask indoors or outdoors target trader joe's wal-mart costco and starbucks were some of the 1st to confirm updates to their mouth fireman's for customers leading
9:32 am
the way for a return to mask free shopping but there are a lot * of questions still looming including what happens in areas where cities or states have not updated their mass guidelines so joining me now to discuss through my co-host and investigative journalist ben swan and geoffrey tucker author of liberty or lockdown jeffrey let's start with you here so the c.d.c. updated their guidelines without much warning how long before cities and states catch up. well i think they're very cut up i mean even massachusetts which is the worst state in the entire country for restrictions and stringencies has already sent out a release saying have to wear a mask in public so i know for the rest of the country that's nonsense same like no kidding you know. you shift i was in a wal-mart. not a and. so there's a huge sea change in the public people are tired of these things are throwing them
9:33 am
out now you're right in the sense that the the companies themselves are slow to adapt these policies which are sane even to young employees like what wal-mart saying that you can get rid of your masks i think in a couple of days provided you've had a vaccine now. that's created a weird situation which the customers don't have masks the employees all do which is which is a way of broadcasting clean versus unclean like a caste system that's actually extremely dangerous to c.d.c.'s announcement was not for everyone it was only for the for the for the vaccinated which you know children can't get vaccines so it means there continue to be masked in schools so it's like an unfolding there's this crazy logic about vaccines the science didn't change was the c.d.c.'s politics that suddenly shifted for i would say politically expedient reasons and now the rest of the country is scrambling to adapt well there there's
9:34 am
certainly seemed to be a lot of questions and it seems like even with the more statements we get from the c.d.c. we still have more and more questions about what that means for the american people and how they're supposed to adapt now ben one of the biggest questions here is how do these businesses know which customers are vaccinated and which are not. well you don't no i mean interestingly and to jeffrey's point look over the weekend larry hogan who's the governor of maryland was interviewed about this and one of the things he said is that in his state about 3 out of every 4 people have been vaccinated who are adults well 3 out of every 4 problem is virtually no one carries around any kind of proof of vaccination so when you now put all the responsibility on to businesses sam's club wal-mart target starbucks and you say to them it's up to huge determine whether or not you want to allow masks or not the problem is that there is no way of being able to do this and run a business successfully so i went through and i look at every one of these
9:35 am
companies as kind of initially rolled back the mask mandate and what they're all saying is basically the same thing it's an honor system right if you are wearing a mask or not we're in a mask you see is mean we're just going to trust that you're doing so because you've been vaccinated great ok but they're still in force within that there's no way of knowing there's not going to be someone standing at the door of the publics as you walk in and say she's we have even vaccinated you have proof because 99 percent of the people out there wouldn't have proven so you're going to alienate immediately huge numbers of your customers so i think what's about to happen here is you're going to see a freak out on the part especially of totalitarian who want to continue to control who is doing what and who what to utilize masking as an incentive to say if you don't get the vaccine you must wear a mask like a pariah and that whole argument going to fall apart on them because you can't make businesses and force this because it simply doesn't work and so i think it's a good day for those who say the mass were injured in the long time ago it's a bad day if you want to continue to enforce this policy by forcing people to get
9:36 am
vaccinated because it's just it's not going to work well and it's interesting for a lot of those businesses because i know we've seen countless viral videos out there over fights breaking out between you know these minimum wage employees trying to enforce things math mandates on cars right here you come in and say we're not going to do it so for some. those bigger companies they may be seeing this as less pressure on them you know to kind of put that out there because i know that some of the statements have even said to the effect if you're not vaccinated we ask that you wear a mask you know and so kind of putting it out there in that way but at the same time we know that a lot of people are getting vaccinated and you know jeffrey the sheer number of people who are getting some sort of not seen it in many states really is remarkable but to ben's point the vast majority of people don't carry around some kind of vaccination card now at this point is it impossible to separate people and businesses based on vaccination status. well it isn't possible assumed worse and
9:37 am
it's unscientific i mean that i mean assures here's where the real outrage is and if i could just put it very bluntly all of the science for a year has confirmed multiple occasions like to hundreds of studies and i could cite all of them that natural immunity is a real i mean we've known this for a 100 years if you have covered and recovered as have had you know maybe a 140000000 americans probably vastly more than that 150 maybe more they all have very robust comprehensive long lasting immunities and that's been confirmed over and over again so what's strange and actually like ultimately discredited about c.d.c. is announcement is that they only consider valid forms of munni that we is you know comes from a shot you don't not that which comes from natural muni's or to some memories or crossed immunity some of the corona virus is so i mean they're. standing in denial
9:38 am
of the science and basically the c.d.c. seems like you know they're just shilling for the vaccine and which again is fine some people need vaccines that's great but every competent epidemiologist i know says it's ultimately crazy and unscientific the existence of natural immunity so the idea of a vaccine passport or you know having a caste system we've had a vaccine you're free if you haven't had them you have to keep asking up this flies in the face of all the evidence that science has worked so hard for the last year to accumulate and distribute and i know that goes back to the fact that any kind of vaccine is not a one size fits all solution and it does raise a lot of questions for those who are either built up in unity or who have their doctors telling them that it's not recommended for them specifically now ben before we go i want to get a new episode anything is going here that's asking about the speed with which this agency has changed their status. recommending face mask indoors and outdoors to
9:39 am
suddenly saying no more face masks are required how do they get there so fast well i think jeffrey said it before it's all politics right there is absolutely no change in terms of the science though we've looked over the last year there's been no change at all there was nothing to say oh all of a sudden we now recognize that there is no need for these indoor and outdoor masks because of blake because of a study because of research because of the science no none of that it was simply a tell you what it really was it was an issue of on the internet and throughout the news media there is that the debate going on about whether or not vaccines actually were because if they work why are you still wearing the mask that debate starting to rise up was getting it working its way into washington we now have lawmakers starting to ask questions about it and so the biden ministration has been prompted to essentially push for a 2 tiered caste system of saying those who are vaccinated get to be free and those who are under x. in
9:40 am
a did you don't get your freedoms back until you were vaccinated that was the real push and there's been a lot of talk about this that the bike to the straight should have bungled their opportunity to kind of force people into this and so the c.d.c. suddenly turns around and now says oh yeah now we know that you don't have to wear it which of course is nonsense because you know all of this doesn't fit and to jeffrey's point natural antibodies every study that we're starting to see about that indicates that people with natural antibodies have higher levels of antibodies than people with vaccines and i'll certainly adventurous thing to see what businesses do and of course what the c.d.c. continues to say from here on out then salon jeffrey tucker thank you both for your time and insight on this 1. 2 of the largest media companies in the business are coming together to form one massive enterprise acnc an ounce plans to merger warner media with discovery on monday this marks a significant reversal for the telecom giant as it comes just 3 years accurate. he acquired time warner and an $85000000000.00 deal the latest deal would create
9:41 am
a new business separate from a t.n.t. which would be valued out around $150000000000.00 including debt shareholders for a fee and he would receive 71 percent of the company's stock and discovery shareholders would receive 29 percent while the move is being seen by some as a way for 18 t. to get out of a questionable acquisition and also creates the 2nd largest media company in the industry ahead of netflix and n.b.c. universal and right behind disney meanwhile inflation concerns continue to wait on u.s. markets so joining me now to discuss the latest issue of shell sign are partner and director of trading research and education for the market gauge group now michelle let's start with this new merger i know we've talked a lot about how much tech stocks have struggled in recent months so how is the news that 18 c. is planning some major competition for netflix and disney having an impact on the
9:42 am
market right now. well when netflix reported earnings that's really when they started to run into trouble because the numbers were already starting to shrink in terms of the number of subscribers that they were looking for going forward and they were talking about raising prices so the fact that there is this tremendous competition now coming from a t. and t. obviously does not bode well for netflix or disney which both fell but so did the stock. discovery and so to the 18 d. stocks fall while some of the tech stocks actually fell not as much today for other reasons which i know we're going to talk about so what's interesting to me in terms of the whole sector of the streaming services is the timing seasonality wise we're getting to a point now where people are coming out and actually what's interesting is the stocks related to movie theaters actually rally today so it's almost like i think they may have to still sit through some storm here as we get through the rest of
9:43 am
the spring summer in the fall and then maybe when people start going back indoors for winter but at this point now in terms of the overall tech i think there's a real separation between what the streaming companies are doing and netflix and disney 18 t. and what the big tech are doing never really looking more now at year olds and the inflation numbers and what the fed says this week yes they're in lee and it's interesting to see especially for those streaming companies how they have had so much reliance on the over the last year and now we kind of people wanting to go out a little bit more and maybe not staying home and watching netflix quite as much as they would have in the past ok now looking at the markets overall there has also been a big focus on inflation and with the latest report showing how consumer prices are increasing while the global supply chain struggles to keep up the message from federal officials continue to khinjan used to be that this won't last for a long are there more concerns among investors than the market is letting on right
9:44 am
now. well i certainly am concerned as one who was trading commodities back at the last super cycle of inflation which i'm almost embarrassed to tell you how many years ago that was i saw the stretch between the ratio of equities to commodities were at 100 year low so forgetting about everything else for a moment just in terms of that type of ratio you knew we were getting close to a point so now enter the pandemic so what is the pandemic do supply changes struction the labor force but on top of that a lot of the wrong materials had cut back in production to basically hedge against a glut and now we have a short supply routes here are those you can't just create them they take a while to mine or grow depending on what you're looking at and the supply joined us ruction now at some point is need itself over time as people start to come back
9:45 am
but at the same time it's going to take a while now i think to really cycle through and get back to being able to produce some of these wrong the tiriel so the short answer is i think transitory is very much going to be defined by the time frame and i think we could be looking at at least a year to 2 years 93 before we start to see production come back and alleviate that short supply with the high demand ok so speaking of sort of the messages that we've been getting from the federal reserve i'm trying to keep everyone calm we know that we're also waiting on the minutes from their latest meeting and they're set to be released this week is there any chance of the fed raising interest rates or making significant changes to their policies that are different from what we've seen over the last year. well of course there's a chance but if you think about the situation there and probably read many of my top 3 unfavored jobs to have right now would be to be drawn power working at the federal reserve because he's really in
9:46 am
a tough spot if he even intimate as raising the rates were the economy coming back but still relatively fragile and then there's still the question mark of what happens after we come back to keep growing then he really puts the go bosh not only on economic growth but he also put it on the markets at the same time if he doesn't rise we're seen with gold and silver particularly rallying like crazy today he's really taking the chance of inflation getting out of control so i'm going to be raring to see what he says but i'm expecting him to keep it sort of low key and still use that word transitory. and inside of those areas michel snyder thank you so much for your time. thank you rachel. the time now for a quick break but will only come back to calling balls to its lowest point in the room not so how that's the latest tweets from you on the robin and hot water. and as we go to break here are the numbers of the close.
9:47 am
of the us it. we 1st like when you on us come into inspect the property if somebody would've been told me to spend my life replying to bits of that i'll talk to story corps in the solti was clear. every night although we were attacked by the arabs we were all attacking them and we will extremely shocked and saying but that's not possible all army doesn't do such scenes and then disorder simple myself from the standpoint of the. host with
9:48 am
all the prisoner with all the god with all the world they all are. really much 2nd class citizens in the on call. it was like and i think in my head that there is no way to be able to live together without tearing down the street past. was a pandemic no sin you know borders and slide into nationalities. has emerged with all the maturity we don't like seem to be saying. judgment is coming crisis with this system to. get better we should. everyone is contributing each way but we also know that this
9:49 am
crisis will not go on forever the challenges for the response has been masked so many good people are helping us. it makes us feel very proud that we are in it together. bit coin is down nearly 30 percent from the all time highs we saw just last month amid new criticism from you all must. go fueled speculation about whether he was planning to sell off his company's $1500000000.00 investment in the cryptocurrency
9:50 am
before simply tweeting quote to clarify speculation has not sold any bit coy so joining me now to discuss the stand crypto analyst christy i all right christy how is the queen community reacting to be as tweets from you on must i mean is all of this price action because of him. you know well even want a controversy so now he's paying for this entire p.r. stunt by mosque has just been 80 otic iran has basically doubled down on endorsing something like point annoying to himself as a father basically a little joke and claims to be working with this non-existent development team and integrating the cryptocurrency into space x. so let's be clear dogecoin was a joke it's a knee inquiry that no one took seriously because it was supposed to be fun even didn't create it didn't work on it contributed absolutely nothing to it except lend it his influence and followers basically like champion their diet drinks to get
9:51 am
sales so he championed. while criticizing it quite so when hot cast host peter mccormick called musk the perfect troll so his very poorly informed criticism of why while support for something as useless as dovish one it really touched a nerve with musk who added more fuel to the fire so he tried to rebut asking the community if they've ever heard of pay pal to kind of a search his superior understanding of money but was then once again silence after michael saylor of micro strategy who answered him by highlighting the differences between pay pal and stating that the world needed to be centralised security flay share a store of value much more than it needed a centralized less secure inflationary medium of exchange so now there's actually a petition for him to actually sell his quite holdings so there's a petition on change dot org that's currently gathering signatures to make iran divest himself of his personal stash of decline louse of
9:52 am
a bit coin community of not having it and i know it wasn't surprising to see you on must get into a bit quiet and what was surprising to have been how much weight you put behind coin all of a sudden this basically trolling the entire and the street he's a giant troll i can't think of a more perfect word to describe it. a lot of questions about how he thinks that that's going to work for him in the future but ok one of these concerns that he says that he's bringing up about bitcoin is related to energy consumption would you say that that's a legitimate concern. so i think this thing about energy consumption that's also bull because that's clearly not a concern of iran given that he's building rockets like actual rockets that spew huge plumes of c o 2 carbon so copper and lots of chlorine alumina although very severe compounds there mean there's also trace amounts of various other harmful gases and particulates that let's just stay on those main ones that come out of that iconic
9:53 am
sorry plume on the lauch so all of those gases nitrogen oxides so far oxide and carbon monoxide those are pollutants so much of smog that we have chlorine alone and nitric oxide that destroy the owners and they also cause acid rain which is really bad for marine life and cheese and basically anything letting then you have c o 2 soot and they are that are greenhouse gases that absorb more heat and cause radioactive for sanction and contribute to global warming and meanwhile the batteries he produces are a product of heavy lithium mining which also harms the soil pollutes the groundwater and contaminate the air so this entire argument is really hypocritical must doesn't care about the environment at all his tweets are merely a p.r. stunt to be controversial and manipulate the price of a big one for himself and if friends so they can accumulate and as he reiterated monday morning because i haven't sold any at all so they're still holding and likely accumulating and here's a thing in addition to jack dorsey saying that they will actually improve
9:54 am
sustainable energy billionaire mark cuban is also voicing out saying that crypto currency is including bit quite well actually help the environment because keep in sight of the industry has become the near equivalent of nuclear waste dumps that must be tended into perpetuity because hard rock mining generates more toxic waste than any other industry in the us and he also cited that bitcoin network of pain 74 percent of its electricity from renewable sources and then in another independent study points energy usage stands at $114.00. terawatt hours while the banking industry consumes over 260 karawaci hours each year and this report was came out on friday which provides open source access just methodology and calculations so in conclusion shrinking big bank and when you say it will actually benefit society and the environment excellent points to consider here and i hope that ilan musk of listening to this one in particular christiane thank you so much for your time
