[000:00:00;00] the ah, get used to the attacks from different directions, the attacks over various matters of various sorts and degrees of gravity. and i'm not stunned by old slide him if he didn't speak to americans, nbc network ahead of his stomach, joe biden. next week we'll go through the key points of last interview. still to come this hour so didn't sound his family call on the u. s. government dropped the case against him as they travel across america to raise awareness. but the country still desperate to extra dr. whistleblower is supportive belief that washington is trying to send
6:01 pm
a warning to others. he is being held up as an example. keep your mouth shut or this will happen to you. as campaign in 2022 presidential election. you get underway in front of summarizing concerns. the politicians and i'm going to far in demonizing their opponents. ah, i welcome you watching artie international. now the russian president says he's on phase by the garage of attacks that he faces me. putin statement came in an interview to america's nbc channel ahead of talks with joe biden in geneva. next week, our senior correspondent murdered guest, gave more details to shawn thomas. what we have heard so far is julio caesar caesar of the full interview. but i must say they managed to feed
6:02 pm
a lot into the skis of let me put and opened up by saying the relations between russia and the united states. worse than they have been in years, and i suppose that is the politically correct way of saying that the absolutely terrible, which is probably why the summit is happening there is at this point, little alternative, both sides have much more to lose by ignoring each other than they have to gain by working out rudimentary rules, which can be difficult to do when the guy you supposed to talk to cool june kilo and vladimir putin says that he is none too phased by that legitimate. over the years i've been an office, get used to the attacks from different directions, the attacks over various matters of various sorts and degrees of gravity. and i'm not stuck by all that. those politicians who we deal with argue in the world arena, we are not bride and groom, we don't swear our endless love and friendship. we are partners and compete with
6:03 pm
each other and some issues. i would add. i heard dozens of such allegations, especially when we went through a hard time fighting against terrorism, the north calkins, as yet, i'm always guided by the interests of the russian state and its people, the russian president also like and some of the allegations and accusations against him to, to verbal indigestion. he said ultimately that he believes jew button is a career politician. someone who is devoted most of his adult life to politics. who knows how things work that he isn't impulsive. he also said that he is the opposite . directly opposite of trump, who he described as a colorful and extraordinary individual who must have been talented because he became a president. should i still think that us a former president? trump is a remarkable, intelligent person. otherwise he wouldn't have become the us to death. he's a bright person, he might appeal to people or may not, and certainly he isn't the product,
6:04 pm
the united states establishment prior to the presidency. he was never into big politics, whether you like it or not, but that's how it is. president biden is completely the opposite to president trump because he's a professional, has been in politics for most of his life. it's a fact just look at how many years he was a senator and let's push plug boot also touch the unless t that on the international themes, a report that made the rounds and in american press that marcia was preparing to sell to a rod advise and satellite technology, perhaps satellites themselves, and vladimir putin said that this is complete, this information fake news. he said he didn't know anything of the sort of, perhaps us journalist knew more about it than him. there's the politics side of it . what about the western media? what are they making of this upcoming summer with much of the world political world? counting down the days until biden and to, to meet face to face. there's been a lot of reaction,
6:05 pm
a lot of speculation in the media more and more as the days. one down, some saying the american press the, you know, they should cool off the entire summer because there will be no break through, you know, having, having commented on politics for many years now. i must say there are few breakthroughs in politics, era breakthroughs and in science. but politics isn't generally a gradual, slow process. so i'm not exactly not entirely sure where they're coming from here. others are saying that biden should call off the summit on the grounds that. 3 he is doing to make much progress in the last year will make him the fool that biden will embarrass himself. others is saying that the summit should happen. the summit should go long and that it should be as productive as possible because again, rush in the united states only have to gain come from a good and fruitful relationship. have to ask about the kremlin side. what is the kremlin saying about this upcoming meeting between button and putting ad for the
6:06 pm
official russian reaction? the president spokesperson has come out and said the relations of such that both sides, she simply need to add their concerns, their grievances towards each other because they have collapse the relations on almost every fraud. he cannot make military cooperation. the fight against the pandemic against climate change, against even terrorism, compensation and dialogue between the 2 sides has stopped there. still, he says, working out the, the technical aspects and the details of this summit, such as whether vladimir putin and joe barton will meet face to face, or whether they'll have the delegation, the numbers of people that will be present. but the point, the mystery pensacola says this summits is to prevent the further deterioration of relations. the main reason for him to go is the poor state relations between the 2 countries. the critical level of this relationship requires a summit between the 2 countries to be held because this is the only way to prevent the further degradation of our dialogue. again,
6:07 pm
the world will be watching this meeting. there is a lot riding on us on the international stage, as well as the domestic stages of russia and the united states. there is not a lot of hope that the will be a major breakthrough, but the hope is that they will be able to lay a foundation foundation of of trust on which they will be able to build solid friendly relations. now the father, her brother, her jeering song, you're calling on the white house to stop handing the wiki leaks co founder. they have travelled from australia to the united states for a month long talk to raise awareness of his plight. sanchez, currently in jail in the u. k, and he wanted stay side on charge of espionage his family though and supports his won't be entire case against him to be dropped. so 6 months now
6:08 pm
passed since since the refusal of vale and we still don't know when there will be an appeal. so what, what was thing is just, it's just another instance of this abuse of, of the process that julian has been suffering under for, you know, going on 12 years now. when leaks can still pause 2 leagues can bring justice when a british caught earlier, rejected the us extradition request for june in his own job. it concerns about mental health that said, at the same time, they did maintain that washington has a solid case against him. america reach, insisting he should be handed over for releasing thousands of classified files. it has been almost a decade since the sun was 1st arrested in london, late to skip bio before spending a total of 7 years. hold up for the ecuador and embassy in the british capital,
6:09 pm
and has been in belmont prison since 2019. i have sent the us, you could face up to a 175 prison. but your water founding member of the rope and pink floyd and a long time supporter of his sons told us that he's persecution is meant to send a warning to others. he is being held up as an example to people who might young people who might decide to make a career in journalism and who might decide that the public has a right to know all he did was report the news. that's it. and if that's a crime, and you should lock up, they had a tauriel boards of the new york times and everybody else but particular, but particularly the, the people will start to scratch their heads and go, hold on a minute. this guy got a story. very interesting that he had an absolute duty in the public interest to
6:10 pm
publish that storing wrong with their spectra. the language, ellen, some a politician actually get a good 1st or ok. well jennifer, now there's not just century idea. it's jim in a vision of those to come up with ation. that's clearly not true, but the danger is it's always a gray area. is it true, isn't it, it's, and this is the debate, should they even be sensory at all free speech is, is kind of up for grabs here as to whether or not it has a limitation. and while i agree with with jennifer, i'll take one step further. i mean, you know, the supreme court in the united states of america ruled that there is no such thing as hate speech. so that goes to the question back to the question in the debate. these multinational corporations in big companies, they operate all over the world, but they're based here in the united states of america. so they basically should be able to understand that when your,
6:11 pm
your consumerism happens to be the american people, the citizens of america. and they're also subject to the laws of the united states of america, and they need to you know, respect that where we get into the gray areas. is this universal application of, of well, if it's hate speech where it's this kind of feature that census age shouldn't, doesn't don't these big chart company that have the obligation to, to start to center what is said on their platform. and then again, we get into this other gray area which is our, their platform, or are they a publisher? and, and so this is why this is getting extremely confusing to the extent and, and degree that, how do we address it? however, what you can't ignore is the fact that 87 percent of the american public are set up . they don't want these technicalities interfere with their ability to communicate with each other and,
6:12 pm
or use these platforms for various reasons. whether it's to conduct, you know, regular birthday greetings on line or to actually express a political view. and it gets very when big companies start to interfere with political speech when they start to interfere with political action. when they start to tamper with the economic fairness issues, and i'll leave you with this, we want to watch the american innovation in choice on line act. this bill is actually a bipartisan bill that aims to stop big tech from using their power to keep smaller firms from setting their own prices for online goods services. and to prevent these platforms from giving their own products an advantage over their competitors. and it's going to block big firms like google and amazon from using data and other firms business transactions to gain a competitive edge. so it's not just speech what, what is the role of these big companies and how are they actually going to exist in
6:13 pm
our, in the, in the steering phase of 2021 and beyond it. well, what it seems to me, jennifer, is that there's no trust is there because the people who are all on social media but, you know, who should do the censoring, i'd be happy that person that the dissenting, you know, fitted in with all my views on the world and i'll be happy as pie, but of course the other person wouldn't beta, how would you do it? i mean, and, and who would elect this, this governing body that to sensor and to police what goes nobody should elect that there shouldn't be a censoring or a governing body there. it's absolution. what my plate before was it there are locked in place. if somebody's hurt by actual, legitimate defamation or in minute and 2nd and violence, i mean there are 2 things that we still have law where it can protect people and that can be personal if somebody's actually had an injury, but there is no governing body. no censorship body that should be over any, any sort of speech and in talking about misinformation in general, i mean in the united states right now misinformation that term alone has become
6:14 pm
a relative term. it's whatever anybody really wants to call that. and so one year ago, a little more than a year ago, it was total misinformation and dangerous, and people were shut out of their account, some of them still away from their livelihood. ringback or social media presence because they talked about this lab leak theory, cobra and maybe there was a last week theory which is now becoming she's now seen of becoming more and more credible. so she knew about it completely dismissed. and so that's just one small example of how something that labeled for misinformation is now coming out to be true. how many other things have been labeled misinformation with people's what people sometimes some of their livelihood, but their social media councilor, john or speech shut down and then and felt demonized vilified me the job loss. and so we can have the kind of censorship because one, we don't know, we talked about how much we respect the rule of law. but if you're not looking at the actual evidence, the fact that you're just telling people the fact that are either lies outright lives or no lives, then that's not actually,
6:15 pm
that's not actually have been any sort of censorship or because they do, they fit twitter, facebook due to all of these, they say that there's been the board, the censorship panel, and just to protect, you know, just to protect the users. it's protected public. but again, we don't know the board. these aren't sure if you can judge a jury of our peers following an actual sort of a legal principle, judges that have been pointed to the bench because of the years of service to the practice of law. i mean, we don't know this, and so i'm not comfortable advocating for any censorship board or for any board to be above the freedom of speech of american citizens or any, any citizens because that's what this country's stand on. you know. secondly, i think even if we're talking about the 30, they're also now provisions that help you apply one of the been a holy private entity and with the anthony jace emails that have recently been released between him and mark zuckerberg with mark decker bri thing. i'll do anything to help you more and more evidence is coming out in court filing
6:16 pm
legitimate documents that mark zucker berg and facebook were working with democrats in 2020 election trying here to help us out. she's so at what point can you call yourself a private entity under the protection of to 30 of section to 30, the communications decency act. and one point you say is if an arm of the government is, has been acting as a shadow arm of the government, how much they've been working. and so i think there are things that we can still look at even with the existing laws. but in terms of any kind of border shipboard, that's absolutely crazy. we have a rule of law, it's in america, we have things to hold people accountable. but we can not trust alleged private companies for ration or big tech principles, or who knows whatever, you know, political affiliations. they have to do that because again, there's no oversight for the big tech giants. and so there's not going to be any oversight for americans that want to have opinions or god forbid offensive speech. ok, karen? just last 30 seconds or so to you? would you go along with most of that or what would you change?
6:17 pm
jennifer and i are locked up on that, you know, who in the world would want bureaucrats and or big tech oligarchs who, who basically put together a board of god knows who to be the arbiters of truth. my goodness. that goes completely against what our democrat republic stands for. each individual should determine for themselves what it is they believe and how they want to conduct their lives. jennifer is absolutely right there are, there are laws on the books right now. defamation seem to have been filed for, for legitimate reasons, the non legitimate reasons, but we let the court decide look, we're to new age here. and what's interesting is that from the 2020 election, you're seeing a lot more individuals being affected by big tech abuse. and oversight of their lives and people are standing up now and they are pushing back and lawmakers now
6:18 pm
need to get involved. because arguably, big tech has become more powerful than the elected at representative here in the united states of america. and, and arguably, more important and powerful and, and abusive as they go through each cycle, especially election cycle that we're seeing. it's being exposed and we've covered it's been exposed. but, but if you think about it from this perspective, most of these big tech companies, their profits exceed the some countries g, d, p, they are becoming more powerful than governments on the local, state, and federal levels. it's, it's very frightening and it's time to, to put an end to it. i can just lastly jennifer, the government's big tech companies. they all want more censorship, but it's clear that the public doesn't want bass at the moment. if you go buy these posi, think we'll change tack all g, think they'll continue to try and police what we say. so they'll,
6:19 pm
they'll continue trying to believe it as long as they're their buddies in the government or the powers that be allow them to do that. again, remember, we're now seeing more and more come out, you know, how many conversations have happened between these big tech giants in between? and then you found your national institute of health, or joe biden himself, or the democrats, the democratic party during the elections. i mean, has there been talk with the republican party officials? well, i mean, what, what is going on here, you know, is the only the democrat and, and so until we know for sure whether a big tech is tied into our government is this kind of shadow arm. then we need, we need to make sure that nothing to stop them. they're not going to stop because, you know, we've seen stocks fall and we keep seeing them be able to survive and be able to thrive. and so, you know, really we, we would think it would be the public or the investors and thought work that could hurt them based on bad christ. we're not seeing that harm to them. we're seeing them continue to be a big tech company that is over and over and over. and so whether that's government, government, bailouts, or these new, you know, somebody's new build back,
6:20 pm
better bills, of course, buying and ministration. you know, who knows how much of that is going, we don't, we don't have a lot of transparency with our budget with our tax dollars. so we don't know if they're just going to continue to be stage, continue to thrive, continue to rule over all of our lives. and our speech was sensory enough if that's what the ones that give them money wants. so until they, we can be assured that they're actually a private company actually working off of, you know, public trading and the public's trust that we can't trust them to do the right thing. and we have to make sure that that there is transparency in these organization. okay, all right, look, we're going to have to leave it there, but really nice to talk to you this evening on this topic. that was jennifer de master legal analyst. and also karen, you know, that on the right she was a senior advisor to the 2016 trump presidential campaign. thanks for coming up on time talking to you with art. he will be back in about half an

the sanction rarely was rarely work except maybe a week, maybe a month. but the world always figures a way to get around the fact whether it's, whatever it is that's was sanctioned. i don't work. politicians you get the city and they say see, i am saving the world, are saving themselves and they're making friends which ah, they football in the middle east. ever since the tiny gold nation wanted the right to house, the people world cup it football national team been done as a dark or boring campbell, if you will. one of the persian gulf wealthiest country is, has spent billions of dollars on state of the art stadiums. but is it really possible to play football when it's 30 degrees celsius outside?
