capital was stormed by rioters on january 6, have recently taken their own lives, bringing the total to 4 officers who have committed suicide after serving at that harrowing event. ah! broadcast live direct from our studios in moscow. this is art international. i'm john thomas. certainly going to have you with us as we get to the news. right now, the european commission has recognized coven health passes, issued in san marino, where the vast majority of those vaccinated have received rushes, put in a v. that job, however, has not been approved by the official you regulator. now she's done quarter or joined my colleagues asking taylor in the studio to explain the latest development . while what it does mean basically, is that the european union has split a significant demographic of its citizens into 2 groups. those people who have been vaccinated with sputnik v and can travel freely. and those people who have been
8:02 pm
vaccinated with support and agree and cannot travel freely. i mean, it all comes down to these coven certificates that allow for unrestricted movement between you states. now, sam, marino certificates are valid in the e. u and that's a, that's a country that has 90 percent of its population vaccinated with sputnik v. we have had these certificates for several weeks now. europe has had them since yesterday. the signature of the commission chairman ursula fonder lion under the document is dated july 30th. thus, they recognize that the technical characteristics of our certificate correspond to european ones. this decision is of a technical nature. it does not imply recognition of specific ve. it is about a digital signature, our green pass with a q r code is now readable in european apps. so basically, anyone who got the student, the shot in san marino is now considered vaccinated in the wild. those who got it anywhere else in the world. literally are considered unvaccinated or potentially
8:03 pm
ill. why hence that, does that mean? is it because russia sending higher quality sputnik v shops to send marino or something obviously not in there, but also does that. i mean, why does that you still refuse to, to approve the rocks? and so it seems like that you want to get the protection offered by the student, the vaccine where it can, while at the same time, curbing its larger acceptance throughout the continent. i mean, the european medicines agency has been dragging its feet on, like, you know, validating the sport, take the shot or not validating it for months now. and in the meantime, over $65.00 countries around the world have already given the russian shot the green light, including some european countries that just didn't want to wait for brussels approval. that includes hungry and slovakia, including san marino. and people for you know, hungry in slovakia now can't travel freely between you countries while others from san marino can at the same time, it seems like there's potentially a bureaucratic problem on the horizon. i mean,
8:04 pm
we just also saw reports that the italian authorities are refusing these colbert, 1900 certificates to people from san marino, who got the student be shot. so it's not clear how this is going to be implemented . it seems like there's just a lot of confusion and that this is a contradiction in the law right now. dario revolt in the international relations expert and former politician under umbrellas county's government has his own view on the commission's decision. and it's not very favorable. he's not a member of your office. i'm afraid that mainly in brussel is a measure of politics. because you see equally cannot that rover if e n a is not approved. but the fact that the m a is a de la paying approval for reason that nobody knows. maybe you know what you need to be. nobody knows why e n a is not a probing that they're supposed to be intelligent. people that went to san marina

for gaining the sport niga already months ago. i know talk to right now to receive the green bus. it is really ridiculous because it is a no and that the sport is at least the valley the as the other side, it was at least if not more the u. s. as it is deeply concerned by reports of an oil tanker being hijacked off the coast of the united arab emirates with little clarity on the case. some in the west are already pointing the finger at iran, the islamic republic for its part to denies any involvement condemning such accusations as quote, propaganda, or cheese policy or has details. what we can do from the new kate maritime authority that a potential hijack has occurred on a based off the coast of the united arab emirates. now they saying that the information they had suggest that between 8 to 9 people boarded the tanka,
8:06 pm
we are hearing from me, which is fine office that they are investigating this matter. but this has not stopped, which is media from already pointing fingers as iran and the same time also in the same area. they are full of attentive that have been reporting that they are not under command. in other words, they are not in control of themselves. they can't maneuver now, it's not clear exactly what's happening in this incident. and it's also not clear whether the 2 are connected. all of this comes just days after and he's really managed tanka was hit by a drone off the coast of oman. now in that particular incident, she crew men were killed and the u. k. office has been very quick to blame iran and we have heard from the british prime minister of ours johnson saying that there will be consequences for iran because of that attack. i think that the iran should
8:07 pm
face up to the consequences of what they've done to accept that the attribution that the foreign secretary has made. not your role and the united states are backing the united kingdom in blaming iran. but the thing is that nobody has any conclusive proof as to whether or not that this happened. what we are hearing is that these countries will work together on ways to respond to, to read. we've also heard in the last few, always on these really side that tomorrow at a meeting of the united nations security general, they will be providing what they say is evidence. the united nations secretary general spokesperson, however, had said that there is no conclusive evidence. and they said the no definitive information in terms of who was responsible for best. iran has also said that it is not involved. it has a piece at this table time. and it is also warned that if it's any kind of wasted attack, it will retaliate. so all of the searching making the region more chance than it

was just a short time ago. i'm it, it moves savvy. a professor of political science at the university of ron says, throwing accusations without evidence, could lead to an escalation between iran and the west. inches are very high right now. so throwing ations without any evidence might actually lead to an escalation. nevertheless, it's an open secret that you on israel have been engaged in a sort of like a shadow war in the past few years. and lately, in the past few months, the 2 sides have been attacking each other ships, but they don't think any sides at the moment want war. nevertheless, the future will really depend on whether you're on we'll be able to reach a nuclear deal with the united states. the history has shown us that the re, these are actually very clever in sabotaging uranian negotiations with the americans. so. busy busy if, if in fact these re,
8:09 pm
these are behind the red flag operation, then i think that will sour the situation and it might lead to a breakdown of the negotiations. now if the negotiations actually break down that i think that would really escalate the tension between iran in israel in the region on degrees now and dramatic scenes as firefighters. tackle massive wildfires in the suburbs of the capital. the nation has been sweltering through its worst heat wave in 30 years. temperatures are already above 40 degrees celsius with weather services forecasting a high of 44 degrees this week. the fires have cut off a major highway linking athens to northern and southern greece. people are being evacuated and more than 100 firefighters have reportedly been sent to battle. the place police in berlin are looking into cases of alleged brutality by officers during sunday's protest against coven restrictions. demonstrators claim

police used excessive force and video shows rad squads getting heavy handed with protesters. here's our europe corresponded peter oliver. well, there's been a lot of videos doing the round since sunday showing violent clashes between police on protest through where they are demonstrating against measures put in place to stop the spread of coven 191 video. in particular though, has drawn a lot of attention because it seems to show a police officer grabbing a woman by the neck and throwing her to the floor. the well, this is also drawn the attention of the un wrap onto for torture. that's neil's meltzer. he's put out an appeal on his social media accounts calling for anybody who witnessed this incident to come forward. he's so far not talk to anybody in the

media concerning his potential involvement and what that would form that could potentially take in this particular incident. what he has said is that he's in touch with the german police with the german authorities. he's asking essentially for explanations from them. and then we'll see where we go. now the protests had the protest took place on sunday, had been prohibited by a court order that said that they could and would potentially spread coven 19. everybody who turn dope knew they were supposed to be there. in fact that was made abundantly clear through. absolutely everybody. what we did see was some demonstrators attacking the police themselves, but it's this video of amongst many other videos and most of police violently. some would say, pushing protests back, which is drawing the attention in this particular one video of the police officer, sorting the woman to the floor. this i think is going to bear a lot more. inspection in the future. are talking about people unhappy with coven

a major challenge for unvaccinated new yorkers. as the city mer introduces new rules banning them from public activities indoors in an effort to boost inoculations amid a search in cases or to kill them up and went out into the streets of new york to hear opinions on the move. new york city mayor bill de blasio as announcing a new strategy for getting people vaccinated for coven. 19 starting in mid august indoor dining and restaurants and working out in gems will be exclusively for those who been inoculated. this is going to be a requirement. the only way to patronize these establishment indoors will be if you're a vaccine at least one dose. i want you to imagine the notion that because someone's actually they can do all the amazing things that are available in the city starting in mid august in order to go work out at the gym or in doors in a restaurant. you'll have to show that you've been vaccinated now, and you'll do that either with an app on your phone or by showing your vaccination

card. and beyond that, the new york city mayor didn't go into specifics about how this will be enforced at this point. infection rates in new york city are rising and 59 percent of the population has been vaccinated already. here's what people on the streets of new york had just hey, about the new restriction. what the mayor and the governor doing is actually illegal because it violates the federal rules. people who get the vaccine they're showing that they can transmit anyway. a lot of people don't like it got the nubile, but i think it would, it would better us. it would help us, i think it's a difficult decision that he has to make. but i do think that you're starting to create a divide and separation within, within the community. because he has to do it to protect new york. it's, of course, it's a good idea. obviously it's a good idea. say it's horrible for the economy. i would say, i don't think it's more seats available. what exactly that policy january storming of the capital building sent shock waves throughout america. and

the commission is now looking for answers, but there is a tragic aftermath that is not making many headlines for police officers who defended the capital that they have committed suicide. 2 of them in recent weeks, while joe biden has called them american heroes, family members believe they could not overcome the mental strain of that harrowing event or cheese dimitri park comments. there are now 4 confirmed police officers who have committed suicide, who had been at the capital riots on january 6th. yesterday, the metropolitan police department had announced that 2 officers had taken their lives. kyle to free to 265 year veteran who was found dead around a month ago and gone through ha, should a $43.00 another police force veteran who had also killed himself in late july, leaving behind a wife and 3 children. however, these are but the latest tragic deaths of police officers who ad worked the sheriff

to the capital building during the riots and other 2 officers committed suicide shortly after the rise. first was howard leaving good 16 year veteran of the capital police force who took his life just 3 days after the event. and jeffrey smith, who shot himself on the way to work in mid january. he had also dedicated over 12 years to the police force. and reportedly did not have any history of mental health issues. however, he did sustain a head injury during the rise, while the family of officer hospital, the latest to commit suicide has not made any direct connection between him taking his life and the event of january 6. other families have stated that the riots and their aftermath put significant mental stress on the officers who responded when my husband left for work that day. he was the jeff that i knew when she returned after experiencing the event being hit in the head. he was a completely different person. i do believe if he didn't go to work that day,
8:20 pm
he would be here. what must not be lost and all of this is that my beloved husband died as a result of his dedication to the us capital police. and the sacrifices he made to his well being on the 6th of january and the ensuing days. just as surely as if he had been slain on the capitol steps, recognition of the cause of his death. much like the critical examination of the right itself will remain central to how we make right those tragedies and help avoid their repetition. obviously the colleagues and family of these officers have been devastated by all this. some of the widows of these officers have even been fighting to have the deaths of their husbands be classified as being in the line of duty. officers. how should have family has set up a crowd funding page to help support the family and organize the officers memorial . as for the official response to these debts, several lawmakers have already expressed their condolences, including nancy pelosi,
8:21 pm
who issued a statement regarding the latest officer's death officer as she did was a hero who risked his life to save our capital, the congressional community, and our very democracy now just as a reminder, that january 6, riots are still under investigation. lawmakers are to this day hearing testimonies of the people who were there during the storming of the capitol building. protesters, police officers, staff members, anybody who was there during the riot, which resulted in the police 5 deaths over a 1000 hospitalizations and hundreds of injuries among both protesters and police officers. so far of the seemingly thousands of people who had stormed the building that day over 500 people have already been char for the insurrection, with some already admitting their guilt. but the situation is constantly changing, and the investigation goes on. to discuss more on this topic, we're joined live by

a retired us police officer. dominic is a glad to have you with us. sorry, that has to be under the circumstances. so this is the 4th time an officer who defended the u. s. capital has taken his life, suicide is always personal. no one can speculate as to the exact reasons of course, but how big a role has the stress of that day played in the situation? do you think i'm going to take a very unpopular opinion on this and none of these just honestly would pass the smell test. based on the evidence i saw, which was like every other person in the world in america, i had seen, which was the video camera footage and people cell phones and, and when it, what the government shows are released and all of my years is active service and again, you have to remember, i'm going to go on a very, very unpopular opinion, not taking away from the tragic deaths of men who served and, and their choice and take their lives. it doesn't add up, in my opinion. i don't see any attribution from what happened on january, so the piece, the mostly peaceful protests to taking it,
8:23 pm
being so precious for them to take their lives, something i'll try to be going on in their lives. and this is based on all my years and law enforcement. this is what seeing what they see in chicago on a daily basis for the last god knows how many years of real estate out there. i don't choose to believe that that i'm mostly peaceful protests lead to these men taking their lives on january 6. that'd be something far more deeper. and it does sound like government and it does sound like media manipulation to make it sound to pick civilians against law enforcement or the other way around to gain empathy at least. but it just, it does not make any sense whatsoever. and again, it's an extremely unpopular opinion. that's my view on this. now, you mentioned to the media playing a role here. some western media outlets are claiming that the january 6 riots caused long term psychological effects is clear from your answer that you don't believe this is the case. oh, i don't. but what particular incidence that happened on that day could have led to this? if this were the case that the officer who took a hit to the head,
8:24 pm
that's 100 percent. i will say that they could have met that absolutely could have caused brain trauma to having him make an unreasonable decision like taking lives. but to have what we saw. we didn't see a riots like we saw in kenosha ferguson. what we see in chicago were, officers are pitted against the civilians and black lives matter, an antique on the destruction they cause to being put in such a stress. the only thing, and this is what i will say, that makes the most sense of anybody who serves in law enforcement to understand when you are pressured by those who are supposed to protect your meaning, your command staff, your governments, the ones you actually go out there and do the job, you have your back when you're pressured by them and your family is put at risk. that's where you going to make some unreasonable decisions. i don't see the events happening on january 16 meeting again. so unpopular it may gain massive on favor by police supporters. it does not make any sense that will happen on january 6 would lead these men to take their lives at all. let me probably a little bit about the pressure you just talked about. is it possible that the
8:25 pm
current prob, into the events of january 6, is also a little bit to blame that questioning these officers and revisiting these incidents, access something of a mental trigger of sorts. not going to go a conspiracy theory route, let's just see for arguments sake, right, that these officers were in somehow not doing their job. maybe they were standing in the doorway, letting people come in and not preventing them from coming in. and again, i have no idea what happened on that day. yes. if there's a probably going to be coming on and those officers were going to be held responsible or accountable for actions that would have made them look unfavorably. yeah. that would 100 percent, in my opinion, lead to them doing something. it's that dresser. let's take a look at the bigger picture here. the subject of mental health issues is dominating us media right now. with some commentators saying it affects everyone from capital police officers to us olympic athletes. let's take a listen to some of what's being said. reaching out for help is assigned strength, not weakness, and it's happening the same time we're talking about simone miles. so i think
8:26 pm
there's an intersection here that's very powerful. both can send a message that mental health support is necessary. resources are inadequate, and we need to change the entire national conversation. and again, i want to stress that no one can go into the mind of someone who is contemplating suicide because it's a very personal decision. but is this comparison at all fair? that the problems faced by us police officers are similar to those suffered by olympic athletes and people who operate at high pressure situations. they're going to be apples and oranges. i'm not taking away from what i live, but gasoline puts themselves through because that's, that's intense to be on words. what then again, what law enforcement sees dealing with children, victims day and day out a repetition that is unmatched in human behavior. now there apples and oranges, you can't compare them at all. now about media, scott media coverage in the u. s. specifically of the riots on january 6 and the various increase and the debates following it. what do you think? generally the whole situation. i think it's political theater. i really do,
8:27 pm
i think, until we start giving the same attention that we gave during the black lives matter and empty for riots of 2020. this is a joke. it's an embarrassment. and honestly, what i think they're doing with these officers lives based on the statements that i heard it almost sound like those are can statement that were written for those wives. again, bad opinion, but that's what sounds like it was written their, their lives are being used and leveraged for empathy for, for whatever side wants to leverage these air quotes, riots where we call them peaceful protests throughout the rest of the year. so i think this is a horns using these officers, deaths are to gain political leverage. briefly, how would you like to see the situation move forward? as far as somebody in touch with the other, with the officers, lives officers like to talk to you that how would you like to see america pick up the situation and go from here. i'd like us to sit there and see exactly what happened. i mean we, when we have these congressional hearings come up, when you have these police officers talk about all the n word was used against them . and they were body camera footage with the body camera. what is not being released to cooperate their stories. there's a lot that is going on, but it's just,
8:28 pm
it's if it's not right and we know, or we don't know there's, there's no proof out there. now everybody's gonna have their own assumption to be make myself included. but unless there's full transparency, especially coming from washington, d. c. i don't think the american people should believe a damn thing here from the government again. right without full transparency, it is a recipe for all sorts of craziness to come. dominic is ho retired us police officer . very interesting to hear your thoughts here on our international. thank you. switch gears now to war torn afghan stan, a powerful explosion has erupted in the capital couple reportedly from a car bomb detonated near the iranian embassy. now in this video, you can see dense clouds of smoke billowing from the scene, a prominent neighborhood home to many diplomatic missions and senior officials. gunshots were reported at the scene. in the immediate aftermath, with some reports, claiming armed militants targeted the residents of the country's defense minister. now the fighting, however, is now reported to have stopped. earlier we spoke to a local journalist on the situation in couple, 5 behind me not very far,
8:29 pm
we could hear a series of explosions and burst of gunfire. according to multiple officials at the interior ministry, a suicide attacker donated his car, packed with explosives outside of the home of the defense minister in the same street. many one parliamentarians and officials and politicians also live according to one of on official. you know, you said that the attackers that breach of the home of the minister defense after they had attacked the home of the african parliamentary. and that comes at a time when we have seen large crowds of ones, even in cities like cobble roaring and saying a law bought in support of the african national security forces after crowds of people did the same in the city of iraq. that's under, you know, massive enlarge, kill paula on attacks. and we're seeing heavy and intense fighting, illustrative the capital of hell, man, province with very,
8:30 pm
very heavy strikes both by the african air force as well as by the american air force. a city of 1000000 people, children, women, and elderly stock people need food and water is no power in the middle of the heat of the summer, as well as the pandemic. at least one hospital was hit in the air strikes. one official said that there was an issue with coordinates, so ones that got nowhere to escape to ones. i've got nowhere to fleet, especially after years of being displaced in districts, in many of these provinces, the refuge and in these provincial capitals that are now under attack. these art international oh, i use new gold rushes underway in gunner thousands of ill equipped.
