comes down the road anyway, to the maximum extent that they can put it a little bit in historical perspective. in the fifty's and sixty's, the corporate tax in the united states was 50 percent in the eighty's ninety's and into this century it was 40 percent. so we are now down to less than half of what the corporate tax was way back then when our employment rate was lower, our economic growth rate was faster. we were promised, wonderful things would happen if only you cut the taxes and corporations. the wonderful things didn't show up, but the in the quality in the country went crazy. so i think something has to be done, probably more fundamental than tinkering with the tax. go. ok, so you look at that, you look at what, what will says as you go ok, can we take some of those same things that we use back in the fifties and sixties with a higher corporate and apply it to times today?

would it have those kind of same results? but the doctor was also overlooking the number of deductions and credits that corporations got in those time. so it was not an effective 50 percent. right. actually, one of the reasons that we've eliminated most all of those loopholes is to make the rate more accurate to what's being paid. so the bottom line is that when you raise taxes, you do cost jobs, you do costs the economy, make it less effective. now there, when we look at what happened when the tax cuts, when we did see an explosion of growth at this particular time, when you're seeing a slowing economy rising prices, rising inflation, more risk to our economy, people being laid off or refusing or being fired for refusing to get back seeing, it looks like the buyer did ministration. the democrats are following the same effect of policy. do are absolutely deplorable abandonment about the game. say, i think it's the same sort of planning we saw there. well, and i think dr. wolf has, as steve mentioned, would not be. what is your problem or do you think would be a good idea to do this fair tax,

which is 0 deductions with that actually make more sense and deliver some of the same results. so this is supposed to deliver now because again, it's a more fundamental problem. i'm a little bit amazed at what the other speaker had to say. the reality is that the promise benefits of cutting taxes haven't shown up. we're in a very bad economic situation and we've been cutting taxes and corporations for the last 50 years and almost everybody would agree that hasn't worked out as was promised by all those folks who did it. but you're quite right. if we had a flat tax, then there would be the return of the corporations through their lobbyists to regain as they always tried to do the deductions, the exemptions and all of the usual paraphernalia. corporations don't have one plan . they either escape attacks of it's on the books or they use their lobby is to change the laws so they can escape or they simply hide their profits in tax havens

around the world. we've documented all of those things, which is why i advocate making more basic changes. if you keep giving a small portion of the people of enormous amount of wealth, you can't really be surprised that they use it to control the laws and the procedures to hold on to it. that's your problem, and you're not going to get around it by adjusting this way or that way. well, and that's the thing, have you know when it comes to a doctor who was talking about, but also talking about just the democrats manager of paying the fair share. why not keep that same kind of philosophy when it comes to social security tax, which is extremely low due to the benefits that it's currently paying out for this recent port? i know you saw that said it is to run out by 2034. why not apply that across the board? well, 1st of all, i don't know how you could argue that the tax cuts haven't worked. president trump came in and we reached with the tax just levels of gross domestic product increase

that the president brock obama said would require a magic wand. and president trump said, you know, abracadabra, we saw the lowest levels about employment of black americans, some lower levels about employment for hispanic americans, historically low levels about employment. it did work. and for those that argue that we need to have the fair share sort of thing, i would point out that when it comes to the federal income taxes, the top half papers, 100 percent of the total federal income tax burden, the bottom half pays virtually 0 and when you look at the federal income taxes, the bottom half is also getting tax credits and, and, and funds. so actually the bottom half is actually making more than they're paying . and as long as you have a system where half the country is pulling the wagon and half is riding in the wagon with, with no cost, it's not surprising that we use waste fraud and abuse because half the country didn't pay for that. you know, to do a poll that people, should the government pay for this, or that's why people will say, yes, the government to pay for that. if you ask them, should taxpayers pay for that people suddenly have
