[000:00:00;00] ah, ah, facebook want some and instagram stuff of one of the largest outages and internet hate trade. meanwhile, rival platforms suffer technical problems as well. due to massively increased tropical networks as a solid dead milk. and jayden st gives the green light to part of russia's north stream to gas pipeline. as europe grapples with soaring fuel prices, i say the situation is stabilizing. no one's gonna pretend his completely back to normal. i wish it was, but he says it's getting it that way. oh, that while british official don't play that own ongoing fuel prices, they've now deployed military forces across the country. as petrol stations remain

dried, you to panic, fine with keys of angry try. i was waiting to fill out ah, are my for middle school, you will ching on see international with me, you lash out. hello everyone, welcome to the program. so 3 of the world's most popular online services has been crippled by one of the biggest ever internet outages. facebook won't stop and instagram will offline for more than 6 hours. those platforms, ronald shad infrastructure because they're all covered and owned by facebook with the problem being recorded around the globe from the u. k to the u. s. and here in russia as well, prompting a swift apology by the company c o. nagasaki bug. my colleague colin bray,
9:02 pm
discuss the issue with aussie contributor mika house know that some people are reporting that they can open their app. now, i actually could open my app as well. but i've actually been able to open my app since this morning. i just couldn't refresh the page in the same thing for instagram and that seems to still be the case. i did just check to make sure, and there is a casto came refresh from anything pat with the within the last 12 hours. so i'm not exactly sure what's going on there and the facebook domain is not working on the desktop. facebook. facebook dot com is coming up at all. so i'm not sure if they're finally able to fix the issue. and i'm definitely not sure if they even know what exactly caused it, but that's what the updates are, have been so far, and that's any of the official channels. i mean a specific result to twitter in order to try and keep that customers informed about what's happening. they've given no indication as to whether this was either deliberate or just an accident. no. and so far and no one has given any indication as to whether or not this deliberate or an accident. there haven't been any
9:03 pm
allegations of a quote unquote cyber attack, at least not by those 2 companies. but hey, we are in the us. so i'm sure you give it about 10 to 30 minutes. one of the officials will come out and try to blame, trying to rush or ran in and in a very short period of time. i'm sure. so what are people doing in the mean time and about 6 hours without being able to send any messages on what's apple communicating on facebook or uploading the pictures of their lunch to instagram or whatever it is they doing instead? so some people have some people work, twitters picked up traffic significantly. some people were joking about saying, you know, if face it says facebook down of twitter goes on next and they'll be posting all their rage tweets in food pictures on tinder instead. and, and other people, of course, that have tinder goes down along with all those other 3. well, they're not exactly sure what they want to do with their lives. because, you know, i've given all the, the shut down and things like that. people's love life is already hanging by a thread and of tender facebook and twitter goes on. i have no idea. i any one's when
9:04 pm
a father saw me. and so it's pretty hard situation. but hopefully it does get reconcile because, you know, beyond the social aspect of facebook and instagram, there is a business aspect, and a lot of people's businesses are on these platforms and do communicate using these platforms. and it will be pretty sad to see people lose a good marketing tool. i know we do want to see facebook out accountable, but we do want them to be held accountable in the right way. not something that hurts a lot of people. and let's now cross life to legal and amazing and list alina . so it's very nice to see here. welcome to our see international. so any idea what happened to what could cause such a massive outage around the world? now now let me give you the following little scenario that i find interesting. you know, last night on our 60 minutes there was a whistle blower who was supposedly going to blow the whistle on facebook. now imagine this, imagine you're a stand up comic and you're about to tell
9:05 pm
a joke and you set up the joke in that right before the punch line, the lights go off in the comedy club. and then a couple minutes ago, by the way, to go back on now, continue where you were. what was that punchline? well, you lost something because of the interruption. ah, and now today nobody seems to care about this, this whistleblower and fac, this kind of this, this, this shut down or black out, or whatever you call. it reminds people how much they need facebook and how much empowered port it is. instagram is an o. want to hear from some whistle blower anyway. isn't it interesting how this this event pretty much diffused any interest that anybody would have in the whistleblower? oh, interesting. indeed. indeed. and all that comes amid i reported
9:06 pm
a league of private data for one and a half 1000000000 facebook uses. and do you think there's a connection here? well, i could be, unfortunately, we have habituated to the notion of leak to data. it doesn't mean anything. how many times have you heard a credit card or some the insurance company leaking data? we're immune to it. we've heard it before. but what's also interesting to note is right now this, this a whistleblower and i hope we spend some time with it. she was up, everybody thought she would be talking about the allegations evolving, child probation, and child information and suicide in children. the lo and behold, she said that the reason why she was coming forward was because of her friends who sell prey to conspiracy theories and the january 6 insurrection. so it was this, this complete let down. so all i'm saying is, and we don't know what happened,
9:07 pm
but there's this interesting time me, and one more thing. there's a lot of people believe it or not, in the world of, of big tech who doesn't, who do not like what has happened to facebook and others. there were people who started off as nerds, and people who wanted to basically spread information in free energy. and all of a sudden they noticed that the social media platforms were becoming platforms for social justice, warriors, and all of these interesting m. a societal moves and critical race theory, what have you had there's a lot of folks within this community who are very disenchanted with facebook and others. so let's add that to the list of potential suspects if anybody were to claim the, perhaps this is hacky. and finally, it's not in facebook's best interest to say, yeah, we were hacked because if your facebook,
9:08 pm
the one thing you absolutely positively will guard against is hacking it. so it is that in your best interest to admit that you have fallen prey to that, which is basically the, the, the scene a coin known of your industry or eyes. and i could that be any repercussions from the u. s. government or any other countries. if the data leak is indeed confound, oh, i mean over how, because they will claim it's accidental. we didn't do this deliberately. and fact, how many people, as i said before, have been the victims of this. but let me explain one thing which is very interesting. we are right now here in the united states, ready to, to cut ties with, with frankly, a lot theoretically though they couldn't do it because of narcissism, being what it is. but people are so tired of this strangle hold, that social media platforms have hannah's. people have been in facebook jail and twit moe, as we say, people are wanting to reconsider section 230,
9:09 pm
and all of the immunities what, what's going to happen is they better do something very, very quickly. and by the way, none of these whistleblowers ever brought up the fact that there are americans or people around the world who have been basically shut out. who dared to mention that they have questions regarding vaccine or gear dimension that a former president is not allowed on social media. that was never the subject of any whistle blowing. it was again, the january 6th insurrection in the like. so we m as, as we saying the best that there are a, there, there's a lot more that remains to be seen. and i hope this is the beginning of the, not the end of facebook. like kind of a disentangling of the lack of freedoms that many of the people have not suffered or not enjoyed, i should say. yeah. what about facebook itself? how costly will this be for facebook? good, the company lose market share to his competitors. now? absolutely, that right now, believe it or not,
9:10 pm
what is probably the most important aspect of your presentation right now are the lights. and if the lights go off, you go off and one would think we've got the lighten lighting taken care of. this is facebook. think about this, this is mark zuckerberg, these almost cyber org like, you know, a genius is and this a, by the way, have you heard the reasons for this? because people are coming forward with damage control. try to explain that. well, apparently there was just a little, it was a very simple thing. there went wrong. there was no such thing as a simple little error that was not anticipated. that brings down facebook a gazillion dollar enterprise for 6 hours. and not only that, do you know what facebook is, where people live? i'm not being funny about this. they live in facebook and for 6 hours,
9:11 pm
there were people all over the world. we keep in mind that 90 percent of all facebook users are outside of the us and canada. so this is around the world. this is enormous. for 6 plus hours people had no home. they had no life. they had nothing. this is, this is extremely serious. extreme huff so lately arrived, that was brilliant line of a legal and me to unlist a thank you very much for that line l. thank you. thank you very much. moving on now, denmark's anna agency has cleared part of russia's knowles trying to gas pipeline, full duration, and he is our europe correspondence piece only with more. we're not quite there yet, but this is a step along the way to this gas pipeline eventually being up and running. what has happened is the danish energy agency has given its rubber stamp to the 1st string
9:12 pm
of the node stream to gas pipeline ad. that means that it has undergone air pre commissioning. it's also the hardest number of tests carried out on it, and it's pass those tests in the eyes of the, the danish energy agency. there's still some way to go yet, though, before the pipeline will be open running to its fullest extent. the 2 strings were tied together in the summer of lab this year. it was of course, much delay due to sanctions and everything that came with that at all of the, the political wranglings they are now in the past. it would seem as we're into this stage of going through the compliance sensitive occasion for the infrastructure project. and ultimately once the 2 strings have been given the approval, they will be able to see gas flow through them. what's gonna happen now with this 1st string that's been approved by the danishes, that they'll fill it up with gas very slowly and gradually to essentially make sure that it takes all of those boxes as well, that it can carry the load that it's opposed to the 2nd string of nord stream to
9:13 pm
well that is currently undergoing its air pre commissioning. you would imagine that once that's gotten begun that then it also goes through the ad, the certification stages, that the 1st strings being going through. eventually, when all of this is connected up, it will start the working light for this pipeline stretches over 1200 kilometers from russia into germany on a, on the, at the baltic sea coast there. and it could pump as much as 55000000000 cubic meters of gas into germany every year. that's enough to heat $27000000.00 european homes every year. gas, of course, in high demand across europe at the moment and coming with high prices. lot of people looking to nod stream to, to wealth fill the gap when it comes to that gas, and hopefully, hopefully see some of those bills go down. sir peter says they owe your opinion is on the brink of an energy crisis. gas prices continued to hit record highs,
9:14 pm
surging to over $1200.00 per 1000 cubic meters. and with when to looming, there are concerns of how the block is managing. the crunch reporting from paris, his shanty davinsky. there is a lot of finger pointing going on as the block faces this unprecedented energy crisis. that winter crunch is looming and according to some, this is a problem that has been years in the making. let's have a look at some of the main issues across europe at the moment. and we'll start here in france, where there has been a price increase this month of 12.6 percent in gas tariffs that follows several months of other rises. the prime minister shawn cast excess, that will not be a freeze and they will not be any more increases. but of course, that doesn't mitigate the months of increases that people have already seen on their household bills. then in spain, where price is they have tripled in the last year. i mean, we know that the spanish government is made emergency measures to try and mitigate
9:15 pm
the worst impact on the poor. but small business unions are just saying, this is an impossible situation coming after the cobit crisis. businesses just cannot take any more. and then in italy, prices are set to so by 40 percent, italian government is announced to package over $3000000000.00 euros to try and aid that. and then in germany, we also heard last week that one, the power plant had to completely shut up shop. and it's not the 1st time at all to do the same a number of times in september. why? well, because it couldn't get enough co. this crisis when it comes to natural gas, has pushed more people towards buying coal, depleting those stocks as well. so it seems like this is a double whammy. so what's behind this looming catastrophe? well that you can all agree on that, but some member states see that this is
9:16 pm
a problem that he was cause itself because it's pushed too fast too quickly to move to greener energy in at the same time as moved away from fossil fuels. and essentially what it done is last, the entire book exposed energy price is currently soaring across the u and putting unprecedented pressure on both energy companies and all our citizens. when designing energy and climate policies, we have to ensure their social acceptability. otherwise we risk their failure. well, the ease flatly denies this, it would jack said it says actually this crisis shows that the problem is that is too much dependence in the you all know, fossil fuels. and the reality is that the only way to mitigate crises like this in the future is to move harder and faster towards green energy instead of being paralyzed or slowing things down because of the price hike. now, in the energy sector, we should speed things up in the transition to renewable energy. so the affordable renewable energy becomes available for everyone. when i say e,
9:17 pm
u is scratching its head over what to do. it's also looking potentially for a scapegoat. and some have suggested that russia is to blame for this crisis, saying that it is holding back on natural gas reserves. russia says that's not the case. in fact, russia says it's willing to step up to the hour of need of it to you repeat neighbors. and increase the supplies of gas to meet those needs, those demands. but what needs to happen for that to take place is the certification of the nord stream to pipe. this is a pipe that was completed last month and would see natural gas be able to be delivered directly to germany. but before that can happen, that certification needs to take place. that is something that you find out. i mean, this is our light. he to disgust this week as they meet to discuss this entire crisis. but the idea that you finance ministers are discussing bread and butter subjects like energy bills and how people are going to pay them really gives you
9:18 pm
a sense of how this crisis is. and as they scratching their heads, looking for a solution, there are tens of millions of households who are concerned about what this winter is going to bring. the difficult choices that they will have to make in detail. i the heat that homes or. ringback feed their families all the while, it is wondering how it will keep the light so on and brussels base journalist luca reveal, predict that prices will soon be back to normal and that no stream to can play a key role. here. there is no lack of gas in the world, and a good example of it is the fact that the price of gas is not increased by $1.00 euro cent in the united states over the last year. but while can europe, it has increased by more than one percent over one year, which is of course, a lot. so now is the time to support the customers, the consumers,
9:19 pm
the end consumers to will order a price hike. now in the winter, but by sprain, this will be finished. everybody knows that the easiest is of course, to get the gas from russia, from an all stream to. and again, there is gas, everywhere in russia is not stopping this gas from being the liver thing is that we need to finalize all stream to and it's a matter of at most and across the channel. there is a crisis in the balance in the u. k. as well with petrol stations that still running, try and angry drive, it's forming huge keys, the government's deploying militia personal nationwide to get supplies. moving. shantia edwards dash j reports now from london. put it this way as day 10 now of the petrol crisis situation. and the united kingdom is still seeing many cars backed up outside of petrol stations. people waiting hours to fill up that tanks and even the public transportation is being diverted away to avoid all of this, the gridlock things have gotten so bad. now,
9:20 pm
the military has now been deployed and drafted in to try and get the feel to the petrol station i think is also really important. we can actually call in the military at a time like this for that extra support to give that confidence and have a mission that's there as a precaution, because as i say, the situation is stabilizing. no one's going to pretend his completely back to normal. i wish it was, but he says it's getting that way. so the government says that this shortage is easing the problem is getting better. the prime minister also reiterating side to javits comments just that that the ali being deployed is simply a precautionary measures. now, around 200 military personnel getting involved in this operation, they're trying to focus on is london on the southeast region. they argue that these are the worst affected it for myself. personally, i'm a little bit worried because in my journey on the way to work this morning, my call was flashing red at me, meaning i need to get to
9:21 pm
a petrol station as soon as possible. but of course, i'm not the only wanna tool, millions of people are now affected. in fact, it's such a hot topic that discussing the pectoral situation is as common as discussing the weather here in the united kingdom, which goes to show just how many people affected, particularly those people working on petrol pump stations. if you're going to feel a 6 or 7 narrative, you're very lucky to cross woman one day, your, your flucker movie, take you return, did not you. normally, they run a fuel in i some which isn't true. it just doesn't get sold because nobody comes in will the last 10 days have also be defined by a bit of a blame game on the one hand journalist of being attacked, saying that the media is really reporting on big headlines and then on the individual level as well,
9:22 pm
people pointing the finger of blame directly at those people panic, buying out all of this patchwork. but can jonas be a blame for simply reporting the news? no. can the public really be blamed for simply buying depleting? results is neither seems remotely irrational, especially at the crux of all of this is the very fact that a 100 a 1000 laurie drive as how now has now had a mass exodus leaving the united kingdom. there are many reasons for that, particularly things like breakfast with these laurie, dr. is staying in the e u countries that they are from. so this seems to be a direct result of numerous things, particularly, like breck said, and it doesn't seem that it's going to be a quick fix for the united kingdom. donald trump is demanding than the pulitzer prize board trip new york times on oceans and pose journalists. although i was for what he calls, they now proven fossil, their russia gate coverage of his 2016 election. when,
9:23 pm
as has been widely publicized, the coverage was no more than a politically motivated force, which attempted to spin a false narrative that my campaign supposedly colluded with russia. despite a complete lack of evidence underpinning this allegation, i would expect that you will take the necessary steps to rectify the situation, including stripping the recipients of their prize and retracting the false statements which remain on the pallets. a website. report has fixed picks up the 2018 prize for almost 2 dozen articles linking trump selection campaign to moscow. a year later, trump demanded their watch should be rescinded. after an investigation into the conspiracy found no evidence to prosecute the president. the special council's investigation did not find that the trump campaign or any one associated with it, conspired or coordinated with russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 u. s. presidential election. so tom parade her, his demand to take away their ward, utter a full mcclinton campaign lawyer was indicted on charges of line to the f. b i.
9:24 pm
when talking about supposed connections between trump and russia, although that attorney has pleaded not guilty, trump believes that indictment has proven his point. i'll see america as chris hedges, who is a former long time new york times reporter things trump's request will go unfulfilled. there is no way they'll be deprived of a surprise because i can guarantee you everybody on the pool. a surprise committee as a di banum as towards donald trump. well, the whole discourse around trump is politicized. and both the supporters of trump and the opponents of trump engage in conspiracy theory. both sides are essentially non reality based belief system. so the whole political discourse in the united states is politicized. and each side embraces very dangerous conspiracy theories without confronting the fact that the forces that
9:25 pm
have thrown the country into such decline are these corporate forces that have de industrialized move. jobs overseas are, should be the common target. but of course they're not. and that, that's what it is, a non reality based discourse. it's very frightening and widening and growing more antagonistic by the day. for those of us who come out of that old journalistic tradition, it has harmed news organs that we care about. in fact, one that i used to work at whether that demographic is affected by the demographic that those, that news organization caters to. i don't think so because it is feeding it what it wants to believe and feeding it what it wants to hear, which shouldn't be journalism. it's a very different media landscape from when i began as a young journalist and especially if you look on commercial television like cnn. i would argue they don't even do much news anymore. it's alan course
9:26 pm
suspended that tradition to spain of catholic independently to kind of pushed in on . and he said he's happy about the decision almost as you can imagine, i'm very happy to they. i was calling because i knew it would end up like this has been, has are achieved any of its political objectives. and i say political because it's clear that spain uses the judiciary a fundamental power in the rule of law, a power whose independence determines the quality of a democracy. spain uses the judiciary to achieve political objectives. oh, push them on was attained last month in san denier. he's been awaiting a decision on whether it was lawful for the european parliament to remove his immunity from prosecution. earlier this year, we earlier had from pushed him on slower. who says this punish government doesn't have the right to extradite him from the supercilious, this situation is illegal and is caused by actions of the spanish high court that
9:27 pm
we consider contradictory to international law. we can see that the spanish high court does not respect e u. laws, they want to be part of a club, but they're not really contributing to that. not following e u norms and prosecuting politicians for their political activity as if they were criminals. several countries, such as switzerland said that this was a political crime back in 20182019. and while cell 3000 separate his and supporters took to the streets of barcelona sunday. among the 4th anniversary of the catalan independence referendum demonstrate as wave banners proclaiming we one demanding regional government leaders heed. the poles resolves as more than 90 percent voted to split from spain, the okay. okay. those of us in favor of independence of not jumped on the bandwagon and the catalan government, which has a pro independence majority, needs to get his act together once and for all, and take sides and apply what we voted for, which is
9:28 pm
a unilateral declaration of independence i to day i don't see many people, so it'd be like a feeling that we still have to be mobilized and not get tired, but we are a bit tired. alrighty. because even though i'm here, i don't think it's of much use and i'm sorry to say this, but i don't see any response from the people or the politicians name, but it should be la massa. so see, i don't know anyone who's still being a pro independence activist knowledge smotts with political leaders joining us and we can achieve it together. all eyes may have been on america's disastrous is drawn from an ganeth stand by the u. s. military is now facing a rolled from within its own soldiers, all speaking out against the leadership and the damage done by supposedly woke francis's ah,

all those people did die in vain. people are upset because their senior leaders let them down and none of them are raising their hands and accepting accountability are saying we messed this up. we were taught that the country was able to, that it was founded in 1619 and not 1776. and that whites are inherently evil to i've made that very clear to my own people, but in the light of a hyper politicized environment, i will not tolerate any discrimination of any kind based on politics. this is really about the freedom of the american people, the right to choose your own medical procedures, the right to decide, you know, what's going to be injected into your, your body and what's not. those are, that's a natural human right. that, you know, we can't take away from people,

use your up to date. john is from no one use in a, in half a now up next here on st financial aid, spoon bust. ah and i make no borders line to tease and you as a marriage, we don't have a therapy. we don't have a vaccine the whole world leaves to take action and be ready. people are
