are saying at least 28 people are dead, dozens more are wounded. and they have blamed the eyes as k. terrorist group, which was behind the couple report bombing back in august. we'll keep you updated on the story of the situation develops well, it is a jam packed news views. hughes after the break. join steve malls, bergen guess in moments and i'll see you again the top with ah, i'm a new mity on the internet. the allows only boom problems and much was
8:31 am
ok to invite everybody's lloyd. that wasn't good. that was the feature that the people who does owens the internet does always buy it as a feature. as the tension between china and taiwan heats up, the taiwanese foreign minister vows that if it comes to war, this country will white to the end. meanwhile, the u. s. is one china to stop line war planes toward taiwan, saying it increases the risk of an accidental confrontation which could have disastrous effects. you're buying approval ratings are thanking with one poll, putting the sinking number of just 38 percent. and the democrats running for governor virginia is blaming biden's low popularity for it is disappointing numbers . we'll talk about that and more with the political panel and a shooting at a texas high school. had the media jumping to conclusions before any of the facts

were in, as the cdc investigator gun violence is a health hazard. what could it mean for the 2nd amendment? we'll discuss hello everyone. i'm steve goldberg, in prescribing they'll use on today's edition a news views use right here on our to you america. ah, and we begin with the rising tension between china and taiwan. taiwan foreign minister saying his country will fight to the end against the chinese invasion of the island, but it remains to be seen just how involved the united states would be our teas john, honey, has more. as china continues to send fighter jets over the strait of taiwan in a show of force and a message to taiwan and its allies, the islands, foreign minister had his own warning to beijing. speaking to abc, australia's china to night, taiwanese foreign minister, joseph wu, said, quote,
8:33 am
if china is going to launch a war against taiwan, we will fight to the end. and that is our commitment will warn that his nation is preparing for war and urged australia to increase its intelligence sharing and security cooperation with ty, one, china has deployed $150.00 military aircraft, including fighter jets and nuclear capable bombers into ty, one's air difference identification zone or a d i z since october 1st. ty wants defense minister said it was the most serious cross straight military tension. in the more than 40 years. he's been in the military warning that china could launch a full scale invasion of the island by 2025. u. s. officials warned the threats could trigger an accidental conflict. and the wall street journal reports the u. s . deployed a contingent of us special forces troops and u. s. marines to taiwan, to help train taiwanese military forces. still, president biden has said he and his counterpart, chinese president, jean ping,
8:34 am
have agree to abide by the quote unquote taiwan agreement. washington's long standing one china policy regarding taiwan, though the extent of dialogue between the u. s. and china remains unclear as both u. s. and chinese officials are meeting in europe. so perhaps for now, it appears china's actions are more a strong message than a signal that it's preparing for war. but taiwan remains concerned. none the less that china's actions will ultimately speak louder than its words. for news use hughes john honey. okay, fulton, joining me now to talk about this very serious situation is from a navy intelligence officer, john jordan. john, good to see you up. a was very sobering to hear the foreign minister of taiwan say that if, if this situation with china results in war, taiwan will fight to the very end. there's just something about hearing those words . well, certainly of in such a war, china would have to be the aggressor would have to be a chinese for amphibious,
8:35 am
forced entry assault on the island of taiwan. a country of 24000000 people or an island of 24000000 people go to the one china policy. yeah, it's 24000000 people do not apparently want to live under the rule of the chinese communist party. so it's not surprising. the said they would resist to the end. but remember, if there is a war, the only way there's a war is if china seeks to attack and occupy china and taiwan by force. well, i absolutely. there's no way that taiwan is going to initiate anything. it's interesting, you know, secretary of state tony blinking has warned china that this whole situation could accidentally escalate into a military conflict of china continues with the aggression and sending the planes over. what are the chances of someone misreading something or some kind of accidental interpretation of the provocation by china that could result in, in consequences here. yeah, that's
8:36 am
a great question and some great reporting by john honey and there to every time the way to think of it is this way. every time china initiates one of these overflights with a reconnaissance package or something. it looks like a strike package. it's essentially a roll of the dice that their intentions are correctly, they're correctly interpreted by the taiwanese and that basically some of the pilots on both sides make the correct judgment. because once these flights happen, whether or not there's a shots fired is out of the hands of the policy makers and either taipei or beijing . it's in the hands of those lieutenants and captains flying those airplanes. and the mistake by any one of those guys at the lower levels on either side could result in, at best a serious, international incident, or at worst, a regional war. i let me, let me ask you a multi part question here. what would the role of the usb, if this did become
8:37 am
a military battle? and what is china think our role would be under by do they? do they see this as an opportunity to act? if they want to act in this post trump administration? that's a great question and that still it down to being the post afghanistan timeframe because that threw into doubt all us commitments and foreign leaders from time from not only beijing but up young and to ron are all now trying to understand the limits of american commitments because afghanistan changed the world's understanding of the united states. so now that china is trying to best understand what is the u. s. to them, and they're doing it by testing american and taiwanese resolved with these flights because that's something they wanna understand before they really start to push the envelope. they want to understand what those limits are and how far they can go to in pursuing their aims without risking a war because they don't think beijing wants to risk a war, at least not one by accident. so, so that's, that's,
8:38 am
that's really where we are at and any, any miscalculation by their side can be really dangerous. that's the cia director william birds announced recently a series of organizational changes. and that includes a launch of 2 new mission centers. one focused on china, another dedicated to transitional and technological threats, which involves china as well. probably, he says, the china mission centers strengthens our collective work on the most important geopolitical threat. we face of the 21st century and increasingly adversarial chinese government. how helpful will this mission center be and, and how, how tough are we on china right now compared to donald trump's administration? got about a minute. yeah, well 1st of all that the c i is basically kind of a mess right now. they spent years going after russian collusion with under the trump administration, being politically woke and so forth. and so now they're trying to stand up these 2 centers in, but it's a lot, but a lot more than that. you have to train office intelligence officers to understand
8:39 am
the environment, china, you have to grow a lot of people who are fluent in man during a notoriously difficult language in the tourist alien culture. so standing that up just bureaucratically is one thing that may look good in the papers, but building out the human infrastructure necessary for intelligence gathering. is another matter entirely? yeah, john jordan, always great to talk to you, sir. thank you for coming on in a small michigan town officials, there were telling residents to avoid using tap water and instead drink or cook with only bottled water because of lead concerns ortiz. trinity chavez reports today in michigan urging residents of bent in harbor to use bottled water for cooking and drinking a major shift in response to elevate levels of lead. while the state has been making free bottled waters and filters available in the area for a few weeks and an announcement on wednesday, it's the 1st time that authorities have recommended residents reduce their use of
8:40 am
tap water. last month, the state was going door to door to distribute filters in its latest statement. but now federal regulators are reviewing how affected the filters are in removing land from water at certain levels. the state said more than $15000.00 cases of water will be delivered in the coming days to the mostly black america community vent in harbor, which is 89 percent african american is now the 2nd major michigan city to move bottled water at the urgency of the state clinton dirt a water crisis that garnered national attention about 5 years ago after homes showed excessive lead levels when it wasn't properly treated with corrosion controls, following a switch to corrosive flint river water. at one point, the environmental protection agency found lead levels as high as $13000.00 parts per 1000000000. there the water change was considered a possible cause of an outbreak of legionnaires disease and the county that killed 12 people and effected another 87. a total of 9 former michigan officials,
8:41 am
including ex governor, rick snyder, snyder's top aid and his chief of staff, as well as both states top doctor and health official during the crisis were charged in the flint water scandal for news views. hughes, trinity sharp as r t r folks don't go anywhere because when we come back we ask our paddle about the fate of job wives agenda and disgust the media's reaction to a high school shooting in texas. don't go away. ah, these are the 4 people who pulled the trigger and survive something on survival. one of the hardest things that i had to face was not having a face. i had a low expectations of life. i accepted that accept the fact that i made that work. we had no fears, jell change pretty fast. 4 shots. different stories behind the bullets. join me every thursday on the alex simon,
8:42 am
sure. i'll be speaking to guess in the world. politics, sport, business. i'm sure business. i'll see you then. ah, these people learn from their own experience, how vulnerable of business is to the bank. so he pushed my business over the age, pushes me right to the edge, bankruptcy. now i realize we will good. this isn't just the back that may be involved in this is the concept. see, thumbs is, is the lawyers. these people have got a lot of this stories and it won't come whistle blow it, tell people's marriages have broken up as lost. their family homes. it is spectacularly devastating for people's lives. they have committed suicide, but left behind norse, they explicitly state that it was the constant intimidation and grueling by bank
8:43 am
officers that late them to i talked to spy obscene these people up nor sold ah, okay, welcome back folks. there was a shooting at a high school in arlington, texas, yesterday, and i want you to take a look at this quote from m s n b c. i don't have to tell you, texas has some of the most permissive gun laws in the country. you've got a potentially an 18 year old with a hand gun at school. what do you make of the situation on the ground in texas as relates to weapons laws and how it may or may not impact the violence like this that we see in a suburban high school? that was emma sent be seized, garrett take blaming texas. gotten laws for a high school shooting in arlington, texas yesterday. well, before all the facts were even in but for the media. that's standard operating
8:44 am
procedure when it comes to to stories on guns. jordan, me to discuss this is retired chief deputy u. s. marshall. matthew, fog, matthew, thank you for joining me. the shooting took place at timber view, high school in arlington for people were injured in the incident. eventually the suspect turned himself in. he was in fact an 18 year old timothy a simpkins, and he's been arrested. his family claims that he had been bullied and rob twice at the school in the past, and the shooting took place after a fight broke out. now, none of that as an excuse to pull a gun and shoot anybody. what's your take on what took place on the ground and that emerson b. c. reaction that i read before we knew really anything about, you know, what really happened? well, reality is that we get more fruit american than our citizens in america. so we've got enough guns going to really get man voids out. and so
8:45 am
we look at the state of texas. does probably look more accessible in texas anywhere else, one of the highest they come down to be the own god. but when you talk about an estimate like this, that where somebody will get angry, upset, and get a guy and go to school. any other place that's the difficult part of it now because we're seeing that just this school, but many schools where kids and people are bringing guys to the schools and what we do. and i think the only thing i can suggest now go to cat, sorry, out the bad we some of the number of the guns on the street, the america due to that 2nd amendment. and people filling them are right and bear arms. anybody can baron now? so the bottom line is, security measures have to be beat up your due at the schools now because they're like, this can happen at any given time. and if it's out of here is able to get ahold of
8:46 am
again, current one in house. so you can, you really, you got anywhere in america and you really want one, you can get it and bring it into the school. so that kind of security measures, you know, right? while the same, the same people on the left that call for a common sense gun laws and that are, you know, right, rushing to judgment here. they don't want cops in the schools. they don't what they don't want to see a police officer in a school at all or a security guard or anything. so you're kind of up against it there. and by the way, speaking of common sense gun laws, there are 20000 gun laws on the books in this country all over the country. and what they're really calling for when they say that is more restrictions on law abiding citizens. because it's, you know, all the was in the world won't stop a criminal with intent. they break by definition. that's exactly right man. and the bottom line is in, so really wants to get ahold of guys just like they want to know the drug. any
8:47 am
other thing in this country that illegal they can get it? so the reality is what we do now, like i said, the problem is we get, we get statistic and they showed it more than they are. like i said, american people in this country. so the reality of it isn't that the only way you're going to stop this now that so many guns out it is, you got a tight, now your security made. and whether it is, people don't like it. i mean, in reality, it's out of somebody about shackle. understand it a whole lot better, but we don't want that to happen. so i don't think active is. that's what you're going to have to start doing now because we know those guns and didn't come up with a lot of how we could get these guys off just like back programs to try back to me guys, obviously. but it's super. well, i'd like to see, and i'm not saying in this case, i mean, i'm not going to pre judge this case, but i would like to see the people and it goes beyond schools. we're talking about a school shooting here because it happened yesterday. thank god,
8:48 am
nobody was kill. what i look at there is a case in chicago where, where you see video of 4 guys getting out of 2 cars shooting into a house, the house fires back, someone in the house got killed and the prob, be the prosecutor in chicago. much to the chagrin of the mayor is not going to file a shot which is against anybody unless you in my view, unless you lock these people up, we use guns in the commission of crimes. it's never good. and i don't know if i don't know if filling out g o is the answer, per se. i mean, i do understand what the problem is. we've got a lot of people in our deals now that net balance criminals. they just trying to something drugs or whatever, but so yes, if you actually handle a gun and do something like that. yeah, i think this would be some penalty for you. but the reality of it is, we just gotta figure out a way to get these guys off the screen and get in. and somebody says,
8:49 am
maybe psychological, there are a lot of psychological needs to come down to people getting angry and why they're mad. and how are you asking me, this is, how did it get to this point where somebody felt like they needed the gun in order to, to handle the situation. so these, all the things that psychologists need to look at, but is the problem. that is the cat's already out, the bag, the gun there, and the available. yep. well, i'll just, and i'll get the last word. it's not fair, but to me once upon a time in the crime bill under bill clinton, never it got taken out, but it was in there before it was voted on. you use a gun in the commission of a crime. you get locked up for 10 years, you fire the gun in the commission of a crime 20 years watch that be a deterrent to the thugs on the street. so we use guns just randomly and for no reason at all. anyway, thank you for your input. always, always a pleasure to talk to you, matthew. thank you. 5 folks. the latest polls are out and they appear to spell trouble for joe biden, in the democrats. this says west virginia sen, democrat,
8:50 am
joe mansion who's one of the impediments to the by an agenda spells out his philosophical differences with his own party. here to discuss is the political panel, democratic commentator, jan rawness and former colorado state lawmaker to harvard. great to see both of you gentlemen. let's get to it. why don't we watch this? these new poll numbers, frankly, are brutal for the president in this brand new quinet fact paul, only 38 percent of americans approve of how biden is handling his job, compared to 53 percent who disapprove. that's the lowest approval rating. biden has had since taking office and it must have broke jake tappers hard on cnn to report that and to report this watch. now the striking number, only 39 percent of americans approve of biden's handling of the economy. and one of the most damning results of all more than half of the american people 55 percent, say the by the administration is not competence in running the government. i'm
8:51 am
surprised that numbers that high for approval. jan. what's your take on not on these polls, which have been pretty consistent. well, it breaks my heart to hear it in. so look back to matters. this is brutal. it's my good news is i, you know, they mitchell elections are a year out. and at this point, something better happened, they got to write the ship because the democrats are going to suffer a loss that they can't afford to lose. given the close count and both the house and the senate. lot of things should happen between now and then something better happen and it better happen quick because what she's going to be upon is pretty soon. so, you know, i, i don't, i can't account for it. i mean, obvious, she, afghanistan was devastating to the president. the fact that he cannot move through the house and senate, which are both controlled by his party. these very important bills that he promised american public. he would. ready that's a factor as well. maybe something will happen on one of those from each we'll certainly get on afghanistan is certainly on these bills that are pending. and then
8:52 am
they changed the course of the election. while tag i, you know, it's even on the economy that the public is, is dissatisfied, and the lack of confidence that this administration, ah, you know, is, is, is prepared to, to be calm or is competent. those are very devastating numbers. well, i think they're surprising numbers, not because that the president is under water, but that so many people still support him as partisan as you get. but i still want my country to be successful. i want to have protected sovereign borders where our government actually wants to stop an invasion of our country. i want to have our military and our civil servants overseas being protected and not being deserted by their government, which is what we're seeing. and certainly the, the administration does not alone it's, it's,
8:53 am
you look what's going on in congress right now, where the radical left in this country controls congress and they're pushing through one of the most irresponsible expansions of the federal government. we've ever seen $3.00 trillion dollars at a minimum, some say 5 trillion dollars at a time when our government has spent upwards to 30 trillion dollars in debt and the economy is going to implode. if we don't have some fiscal responsibility and nobody in washington dc is willing to do that. so i'm surprised that the numbers are as high as they are, because nobody should think that what this administration has been doing a successful in any way whatsoever. you mentioned the, the biden agenda. you mentioned the $3.00 trillion dollar bill. i want you to watch what joe mentioned. both of you watch what you'll mention said yesterday. i don't believe that we should turn our society into an entitlement society. i think we should still be a compassionate, rewarding society. i think that 1st best for all of now mansion,
8:54 am
making it clear that not only is the against the spending of trillions on the by the agenda, he wants it down to 1.5, not 3.5 trillion, but he's basically against the whole biden agenda. which is free, everything for almost everyone. now bernie sanders today ripped what mansion had to say ripped him for his choice of words. how problematic is this for the progressive agenda that biden has either decided to champion or has been instructed to champion jan? well, listen, i would respect this intervention from west virginia. i'd say he's for high school in. so they the concern is always bring up the issue of word entitlement nation. but yet conservatives are usually the biggest beneficiary of whatever and title i was told that my washing d c most evident by the national tax cuts under president trump and, and those under president bush,
8:55 am
a couple of administrations before him. so when it comes to cutting taxes, it's always real responsible. you know, in the view of their concern is when it comes to brash helping preschoolers and, and helping families that can't afford daycare and helping young people helping young people that want to go to community college. i can't afford do so all of a sudden weren't a nation. so i would say with respected sen mentioned that the lack of compassion shown my concern is in this structure when it comes to people who have been excluded from the largest and the government used to bestow upon them is hypocritical. i don't know, ted, i mean they already have pulled up to is a boat and protested against mansion. what do they do next? fall over to the bathroom? well, the, the left certainly will be as aggressive as they think they need to be. and i would like to argue with your, your lead in there that joe mansion is being the captain. he's bottling to the pressure he, he said he would not support this bill. and now he's saying, well,
8:56 am
maybe i'll support $1.00 trillion dollars. that's $1.00 trillion dollars over the 4 trillion dollars that this congress is already passed in. the 1st 7 months of this session. we are economy cannot allow any more money being printed not not spend printed to be able to pay for this irresponsible plan. but what's in the irresponsible plan this administration is saying in this bill that they're going to spend $80000000.00 for new i r s. agents and require every bank, every credit union, every lender out there to say to give to the i r s. and all information for anybody who spends or brings in more than $600.00. so every time you write a $600.00 check, the iris gets to know that that's the most outrageous abuse of privacy that i've ever seen. this administration and the radical leftist in washington, d. c. want to do that. they want to have that much power over you and me. what we
8:57 am
do with our n magic jet jan. you want to respond to ted? well, the $600.00 part might be a little silly, but it's again, it's always the conservatives in the people with money. not, not officers have money, but generally, people with money don't like the expansion of the iris authority. and you know, to investigate a fit $600.00 transaction, $600.00, i read aloud in french people with money with money more than the fact that the irish may be after them to pay their fair share of our fair share. i have to agree, i agree and maybe well we'll have you guys back to we can continue this at another time. we've got to get back. thank you both very much appreciate it. and that's all the time we have for today. and for this show and more download the portable tv app
