himself would hollis up and give the order himself to me. and i got this euphoric feeling. we had previously heard from the pentagon that no disciplinary action was, was being claimed that this report doesn't include any recommendation for disciplinary action against any individual. those responsible for this, for this disastrous asher. i could that may be bitter news for relatives and the family of those killed to swallow. where because obviously they had previously said that they would or they would renounce any claim to compensation so long as those responsible were punished as montgomery johnny was, i will keep demanding that each person who has committed a crime here must be convicted and punished with the due process of law, it's unfair if a person commits a crime and then a different person is brought to court to answer, the criminal must be punished, no scapegoats. if americans committed a crime,

they must be brought to justice. in this case, it appears that the pentagon has renaming the crime on the system and though on vague mistakes that nobody can really be held accountable for previously, the us government had said that they would offer compensation to the, to the family and relatives of those that were that would kill, but the report also has recommendations. 3 various recommendations to make sure that incidents like this don't happen again to minimize civilian casualties in the future. but for now it's, it's business as usual. nothing's changed in the way that these room strikes are handled or, or carried out, and perhaps all these recommendations will stay in the future. just that recommendations how to get more insight on this. we live now to the former executive director of the libertarian party national committee. west benedict west, thanks lot for joining us on the program. now i just want to start with the attack itself. 10 civilians dead, including 7 children,

and no misconduct or negligence. do you think it's surprising, the critics are now questioning the results of the prob well, this entire afghanistan war was a catastrophe, and this is just another perfect example of why. ah, there were news going on about the withdrawal process. ah, people trying to get on planes not being allowed to escape also the terrorist attack. and so it seems obvious to the, to me, to probably to you in the whole international community that the americans were looking for someone to attack us so that it could appear that they were doing something. so, um, yeah, it looks like people were in the military was over zealous to go after in, in bomb another person. and i'd probably cheering people on as your, as the previous person described. so it's not at all surprising that the pentagon

would find itself, i'm not guilty of doing anything wrong, just making mistakes, you know, not doing things criminally negligent on, but obviously to most of us, it's something that happened all the time. it happened again, and it's not surprising, so no one should believe that the pentagon did a good analysis and came to the right conclusion. so would you say that a communications break down as an acceptable explanation? i mean, in such a situation, why would u. s. officers even continue with the strike if they didn't have concrete information. yeah, i think calling it a communications breakdown is, is such just fall sits. what happened is the military in the united states government messed up badly. they often messed up badly. they've been messing up badly for decades in afghanistan and other places. and unfortunately,

they still don't realize that they don't realize that they often make bad decisions . they drone people that kill innocent people. and that is wrong. it's counterproductive. it's not working, it's not making america safer. it's certainly not making the international community safer as so no coin into communications breakdown is a copout is really just sad. okay, well, the inquiry said it found no negligence. where can this go next? i mean, is there an international body that can hold the u. s. 2 accounts, or is there a legal precedent for it? ice, i think there's some kind of provision that exempts the united states military from some of these international bodies that can take action against other countries. i'm, it's, it's something that the u. s. a demands i and so i don't think that there's anything that the international community can do with force by, by legal means to go beyond. simply i'm expressing that this

is not acceptable by continuing to focus on this while it's in the news. and while it's fresh in people's minds, the pentagon in the american military and president biden would like nothing more. and for people to forget about this completely, ah, but the thing is, this happened hundreds of times. this has happened hundreds of times over the past couple of decades. and most of the time, people haven't taken notice. well, this time the entire world was watching. and although it may be, this doesn't isn't satisfying to everyone out there. probably the most important thing that everyone can do is just a place to blame, placed a shame on the united states military and hope that they'll learn a lesson. and that the, the american people and our government stop allowing our military to go overseas

and process these wars. we need to bring our troops home from the rest of the world and stop interfering and other nations. we answered my next question there. i wanted to ask if this inquiry was the last, the u. s. government was going to hear about this, but what punishment do you think there should be over this? and if any at a minimum, the people directly involved in this should be fired. they should be terminated, or they should be pressured into resigning this was a disgraceful act. i don't think that many, if any of these people will actually resign or be caused are or be ha, ha, penalize in any way, but it needs to happen in it's tough because you don't want it. you know, the u. s. government doesn't want united states military to not have faith in their leaders, but the only way for real change to happen is for the leaders of our military to

say, look, we've got to make a change. we, when we make mistakes, we've got to own up to them. we've got to punish the people involved. when is so obvious is this was that it was civilians that were attacked. and, and in that way, in the future, other military service men and women will be more willing to speak up when they see that something might not be going wrong wrong. i'm sure there were plenty of people who suspected this was not a good target to go after, but we're afraid to speak up by terminating the people that made the bad decisions . they give more courage to the good military men and women who are willing to speak up when things are going wrong. while in terms of biden's administration, i mean his approval ratings are definitely a lot lower than they were when he 1st came to office. how do you think his administration is going to grapple with the situation?

you know, he's, he's probably happy to hear said they found that his military and his administration didn't do anything wrong. and i think that's the wrong approach for him to take. but, but that's probably the realistic thing that he's gonna do. i'm, i do have to give president biden credit for brain, a troops home. i, i doubted it would actually happen when they said it was going to happen. i think plenty in the military doubted it would actually happen. and perone of congressmen doubted it would happen, and they drug their feet. they probably allowed the govern the military to drag their feet on the way out. and that's why it was such a chaotic, quick exit at the end. so, you know, biden has plenty of responsibility, but i have to give him that credit for following through and bringing the troops home. west benedict, former executive director of the libertarian party national committee. thanks a lot for joining us on the program. thanks for having me. now we have covered the

democratic nominee to stay above water. now $7.10 americans say that they don't like the direction in which biden is leading the united states and a poll conducted among democrats and independents who are democrat leaning. this poll came out and said that 40 percent of them think that their own party might do better to not nominate joe biden for reelection in 2024. but instead to pick another candidate. now this defeat or terry mcauliffe, a mainstream democrat located in the state of virginia, long time figure in virginia, politics has been quite a blow. you'll recall that the lead up to the vote that happen tuesday. both the president and vice president traveled to virginia and emphasize how important this election was. how will in large part determine what happens is 20222024. and so it

seems like this was an opportunity for voters to register their discontent. there's a lot of rising frustration with the biden administration over the unpopular cold. it vaccine mandates over stagnation and inflation in the economy. and over the issue of the afghan pull out, which was very chaotic and in the lead up to the vote. national democratic party figures like president joe biden and vice president common layer has went to virginia to emphasize the importance of this election. they presented voters in virginia with their agenda, and it appears a lot of them did not like what they heard. republican richard black is a former member of the virginia state senate, and he says that the democrats defeat is an ominous sign for them with elections coming up. and other key states. we sort of are a litmus test for the nation of what, what you can expect. ironically, people always look at virginia to see what is likely to happen in the future. but in new jersey, which people don't even pay attention to the republican is neck and neck up there.

and that's such a heavily blue area that nobody even normally, thanks about it. so it just shows a tremendous weakness in the democratic side. and what has happened here? loudon county is where i live and where i've represented dear has been an uprising of the people against policies. and this was not something dictated by the young can campaign or by the republican party. but it's just individual parents, much of it is focused on the issue of schools. some of it is on the backseat mandates. some of it is on the shut down of businesses. but key to the most burning issue is critical race theory. the fact that it's in a single year, we went from a 10 point advantage for mine to

a 2 point loss for mccaul up, you know, you're looking at 12 point shift in one state, that's blue leading. and if you translate that to other states across the nation, it, it really forecasts a wipe out for democrat congressmen running in next year's election in minneapolis. the vote for a new mayor was eclipsed by a valid on police accountability and public safety issues. their voters rejected a bid to get rid of the local police and replaced them with the supposedly more benign public safety officials. the purport, this proposal came after the murder of george floyd last year and cited nationwide protests and demands to defend the police. ah

ah recent polls show that people still have an unfavourable view of the police in the city, but many more people would not like the number of officers to be reduced. a position that's especially strong within the black community. the refusal to vote against local police may be linked to the city surgeon violent crime and that officer staffing shortages. there have already been significantly more homicides in 10 months this year than in the whole of 2019. and comes after the city council and 2020 voted to dismantle the local police and slash its budget. but this resulted in a lawsuit from residence, including former city councilor, don samuels, he won

a court order against the council, forcing it to recruit more officers. largely the conversation around the issue was held in social media and then of course was a well funded campaign funded by folks outside of the city. the movement itself was funded by about a 1000000 and a half dollars. and so there were a lot of was a lot of money to work with, but they, the founding groups have upwards of $30000000.00 that they were able to strategically arrays very quickly after george flied died. as a lot of that energy and anxiety around floyd's dad, created this influx of dollars here and in the city more than 80 percent of it from outside to fundies grew addition to that, we knew that we had many folks who consider themselves allies of the community who wanted to see police and change, which would have been disastrous for us here in the city as

a whole. but certainly the african american community where crime is at an all time high. if it could not be done here. the city where george floyd was killed after for lando and then dante arrived, that it might be a strategy that needs changing because this was the 1st best chance the fund, the police, just as a regular rule has been a colossal failure. any place i tried to implement the for the police crime has gone up when it's been york chicago in minneapolis in the late. it's been a colossal failure because what stops crime? what brings crime down, especially violent crime or more police on the street. you have to have police on the street in order for your street, be safe violence reduction or reducers, you know, community activists. i want to go out and talk to gang members. isn't going to work and the evidence shows it. i'm glad that sanity prevailed in minneapolis because.
