a ah protest in europe as a new lockdown restrictions are imposed violence or ops in the netherlands for a 2nd night while in brussels. there are clashes between police and demonstrators. on the weekly this hour, we try to work out where it is all heading with a panel of guests. my response to the politicians is where well, you line your case numbers was slightly hi. hi. highest in as me get one set of new role with a new kind of st. something else comes out and there was a lot of let the politicians do what they, why they didn't follow some of the mandates. they weren't wearing mass a us riots erupt as co. rittenhouse is found not guilty of homicide in the killing of 2 people

at a racial justice protest. last year. it has divided the american society with politicians and the media rushing to take sides and migrants and start to leave bella bruce's border with poland. after more than a week of camping out in freezing conditions in a desperate bid to reach the e. u and violent clashes with polish forces as well. we are witnessing so far, the largest scale attempt at crossing the board and by going to see the on backing down. and we can hear the approach of a military helical to oh, we've just been purpose sprayed. ah, all broadcasting wanted to read from our studios in moscow. this is our international with our weekly program route, recapping week's top stories, but we're gonna start with some breaking news this hour,
8:02 pm
at least 20 people i thought to have been injured in the u. s. state of wisconsin when a car plowed through a christmas parade. now a bit of a warning, you might find some of the following images disturbing. i read it sport utility vehicle can be seen speeding toward marchers from behind in the video posted to social media. police are investigating the incident which took place in milwaukee suburb. also, though the suspect is understood to have been detained. walker shop, police chief, described the incident as very tragic, very chaotic. he does not detail the types or severities of the injuries. we will keep you informed as the situation develops. of course, our new team is on top of it. switching gears now efforts to stem the latest search of covert infections have seen frustrations boil over in the u of the last several days. the latest protest in the belgian

capital on sunday afternoon, sol, riot police, fire tear gas and water kevin's in clashes with those opposing restrictions. demonstrators had earlier thrown fireworks at officers and built barricades to stop police from getting through the 35000 strong rally and started peacefully. but city center traffic became paralyzed. the streets and tunnels were blocked. the anger is directed at restrictions which included requiring passes to enter public places. some of the most ferocious protests i'm taking place in the netherlands with the country struggling with the lockdown measures imposed a week ago, dozens of riders, countrywide have been arrested. the austrian capital saw flashes as well as it heads to a full national lockdown, which comes into force right now. a

mm. reporting from saturday's protested vienna. or your correspondence, peter, over. as you can see, the dentist ations here as they come into the final stages. lighting the flesh behind us these demonstrations coming out to say, go to the austrian government policies when it comes to coven 19 with a glimpse of pulling through the geisha as we had towards the historic historic policy here in the center. they all seem capital quite your money themes and they come through that with the as they come through the ask to try and get
8:05 pm
away from the crowd of it as they come with that flu is going for the most part, this demonstration was incredibly peaceful. however, there was some flash points between demonstrate as in place, things were thrown from the demonstrators towards law enforcement, who responded by dragging people out and taking them away into custody. there was also some incidences where i saw some teenagers starting bottles towards the place in order to try and get them to give them a chase. the reason that all of this has started is because all the actions that the austrian government is taken to try and calm down the coven, 19 problem, that the country has. that was starting last monday. what was called a lockdown of the on vaccinated of 3000000 people fell in to that particular group . those that haven't either got a vaccination and can prove it, or they can prove that they've recovered from coven 19. that then escalated further on friday of this week when we well, when alexander schellenberg,
8:06 pm
the austrian chancellor, announced that from the homing monday, a national lock down will be going on. he also said that from the 1st of february, that will be well, a mandatory vaccination policy in place across austria, all sure, becoming the 1st country in europe to do so. that really upset a lot of people. lot of those that we spoke to a lot of people that come out here just behind me flaring those horns. very upset that all should become 1st european nation is put in place. this type of mandatory vaccine policy. i sing, it's not the question from the government. i sing, it's a question for the people. if i want it, i can hear for it. but what's with the 1000000 people's? they don't like this. what's with this? we have a problem with the austrian government. ah, we, we have freight to lose all a table critique. i am not happy with this sir solution because sir,
8:07 pm
it's against on the wish of offer people. and the, and human rights are being done on, on, on the ground already or beneath, under the ground. they'll alexander schellenberg, they all say, and johnson says, the reason he did that was because his hand was forced because to many people in his country as he sees it a fall and fall of what he calls anti vax propaganda. and that's one of the reasons he said that a vaccine uptake in austria was so low. these people low say they just don't want the government to have so much say in what happens to them, why they take vaccines. the real statistics, though are not austria is in the grip of a real biting situation. when it comes to this fault, wave of coven 90, particularly in the west of the country, hospitals are at creaking point. when it comes to taking severely ill people in intensive care units, they are just don't have the capacity to be able to cope. and i'll see as vaccine
8:08 pm
rate is below the average when it comes to the rest of the european union. however, these people here say that they just don't agree with the policies and the way that alexander shalon bos gorman's is handled, they say you're in austria all the while the world health organization continues to stress that vaccines are the most effective way to prevent the spread of coven, but as countries continue to impose locked downs, many people are asking when might be restrictions. and earlier in the week, my colleague kevin o, and spoke to medical and social science experts to try and gauge where it all may be heading. impression i get is these are serious panic measures by the politicians where well you, why in your case numbers was slightly hi. hi. hi. i still am going all the time to are always is early and extensively. they need to stop being so reactive and acting on impulse because that's the worst time to make decisions. and i think that's the
8:09 pm
problem that we've got since the pandemic and began there was a lot of let the politicians do what they want. they didn't follow some of the mandates. they weren't wearing masks when they were supposed to be math. and then they bowed to the pressures of business and capitalism in lifted restrictions. very early on coalition, already real pressure because life has to go on, people have to earn a living. the economy has to keep taken on at some point a suppose the politicians because they've got their reputations on the line as well. are gonna say, well we, we're, we're trying to ease up, we're trying to move forward the car. when can i, this is a failure of governance. this is a failure. all the right processes. so the scientists was saying, i early are extensively and you will controlling then the economy is trashed and they say you how people are trashing the economy. what they do not want to accept is the economy is trashed because you messed up. i don't think it's quite a m specifically. i'm to choose
8:10 pm
a section of the medical profession to say, you know that we should be mandatory, right? how are you? how is it mandatory when there's so much confusion going on? because a lot of people you're augusta should know because you've worked with the medical profession. i suppose we all the us know medics look to you to do the best practice to do the best possible thing. we do do the best thing for our patients. but the problem is, the guidance that we get given change is week by week is to confusion just as, as we get easter one set of new wrong with a new policy. something else comes out which contradicts that. so many things to worry about gas prices. well enough cove, it seems to be coming back for a fist on it. still getting mixed messages from the politicians. what's gonna happen is we had into a new year maybe go into a 6th or 7th waiver this. well, i think there are 2 things that i, i really want us to think about here as we try to push back to normal. first off normal, wasn't that great for everybody. and so i know that all of these things we're talking about are important and we want to get on with our lives. but normal wasn't
8:11 pm
great for people experiencing homelessness. hello. it wasn't great for people experiencing rece isms. is there things that are continuing to exist? so if we go back to normal we, we need to be careful not to go back to, to what was some sort of nostalgia. and i also think we need employers at universities. big, big places that bring in lots of people into city centers. to remember that there's going to be a social return here that people are going to have some anxieties. so we need to remember 2 things. remember, nostalgia is not always a good thing. normal wasn't less that go back to normal number one. and number 2, we need some time to go back to our breaking news story. this, our one person is understood to be dead and at least 20 are thought to have been injured in the u. s. state of wisconsin. when a car plowed through a christmas pray, now a bit of a warning may find the falling images disturbing. they read sport utility vehicle
8:12 pm
can be seen speeding toward marchers from behind in the video that has been posted on social media. now police are investigating the incident which took place in a milwaukee suburb, although a suspect is understood to have been detained. the walk, a shaw police chief, described the incident as very tragic, very chaotic. he did not detail the types of severities the of the injuries. of course we are following the situation and we're going to discuss it now for more in this we can go to jennifer britain who actually has a unique perspective. you're in the area, you're in the milwaukee area right now, so i'm hoping that all of your people are safe and okay. i'm one dead more than 20 wounded. very early in the investigation. can we have any idea why this happened? there is no, no idea, no idea whether it's motive, whether it is drug related with mine or whether this was intentional in any way. there are different local ports that have been coming out. you know,
8:13 pm
a couple local reports from eye witnesses in the area saying that the person had a gun in their car. obviously this would change everything regarding motive, you know, any, any sort of a motive or idea that the person might have done this by accident or on some kind of drug high would go out the window. there was in fact a gun and there have been now at least when they come out saying that they specifically saw the driver with a gun at the window. so i know we have some local things. we know that there are scanner reports that. 8 that they could to be trans, injured, had been transferred to children hospital walking around the area that show that some of the people that are injured are children, most likely. and so i think they're just waiting for more details on there. of course, you know, that there's now is one firm done at least 20 plus injured, but i, i think again, you know, a lot of these are just coming out as either eye, witness accounts or other things. but they have gauging area set up right now for families for people that are. 5 either looking for less wonder also right now it's
8:14 pm
just a lot of questions. a lot of why did this happen, and are there any assistance feel large? one question that i have is, unfortunately there is precedent for this. there have been similar incidents in the united states as well as in europe, in europe. they have implemented some sort of barrier on streets so that they can stop vehicles from coming in in the us. do you think that there's any way that this could have been prevented? well, i mean, obviously, you know, you talked about some of the implementation of new policy or areas that they put in in europe. i remember i remember covering likely with the the, the attack in france at the backfield a parade. and some of these other things where i know some of these places have tried to put up more, more stringent barriers barricade on trees. we haven't had something like this in the united states as much on board, the more at least weapons related violence, but i mean, how do you like it? obviously, you can always be a barrier, but i think in the united states, especially there's so many local parades. there's so many things that happen,
8:15 pm
whether it's for local communities and you want the local, a local prisoners re that happens. and so, you know, it's hard to have these kinds of barriers didn't get proper. you're talking about a lot that, and that's something that americans, i know you're a p and unfortunately had to become more acclimated to this american. this is going to be a new thing, and i'm sure those trucks are going to come up soon as what, what could be done. but at the time, i mean, there are, there are always local grades going on in wisconsin in different places for different reasons. and so, and usually they're on pretty secure. 3 the people have done for many, many years. so this is a new thing, and i think people are going to be asking the question. now, at 1st sight, this looks similar to a terror attack that occurred in berlin. you mentioned what happened at the best deal day parade. but in berlin truck plowed through a crowd to christmas market. we've heard chris ray and the f. b. i bring up and kind of congress, the idea of domestic terror. can we suspect, quote, unquote terror this time?
8:16 pm
or could this be what biden and other democrats refer to as domestic terror that we've been hearing so much about you know, and i have a hard time, you know, you know, shawn very well that you and i have talked for a long time. you know that i've researched the, the legal president, the legal, factual matters involving terrorist attacks, whether domestic or international motivations. i think right now is obviously related to the state whether there was any sort of terrorist intention which would be violent in or for a political purpose. and that's the basic bottom line, a definition of terrorism. unfortunately, what we see now with some politicians, they're trying to bows eric definitions or care if you're trying to espouse certain actions that might not be legally constituted as terrorist as eric. and so we're using people stand that, but i think the car is, this is concerned. you know, we have to wait and see. obviously if he reports about, he's done out the window are true, that is going to make the motivation or the the aspect that there could you hear
8:17 pm
them a little bit, much more likely. so if there was intent there with knowledge was in fact an attack, and that's where that, that, that conversation point 30, which, but it's more of that come out. i think that's going to be a very important to look at. again, i think that people should be wary of what politicians have recently divined as domestic care is more care of them. and really look at the text of the terrorism log, which is any violent for a political purpose or to make a political purpose. and so that's something that i know people will be looking at specifically at the comes out whether it's why if it was intentional, why does this happen for jennifer? i'm going to ask you to go down the rabbit hole just a bit and a disclaimer. it's too early to make any connections whatsoever, but it isn't the same state as the call written. house verdict, wisconsin, what are your thoughts on the likelihood of there being some sort of connection all again, i mean, like you said, it's too early,
8:18 pm
but there have been reports that come out saying, i think the last couple minutes saying that the written house team that they're going to be a written how comments related to what has happened today within the next hour or so. so again, we're just seeing that now from local feed, that there will be a comment from, from written out attorneys from the rittenhouse team in some way within the next hour or 2 about this incident today. so that's all i can say in terms of local local news on that. but again, you know, we don't know whether that happened. we do know that there were a lot of concerns, especially myself, who's in the milwaukee area. a lot of us in this area. no ship to milwaukee walker shop, just west of milwaukee separate. there we were, you know, the lot of people were concerned obviously the concerns were, were there throughout the week, you know, but what we, i think wisconsin was able to see some t throughout the week. there was a lot more peace than people thought. even downtown milwaukee,
8:19 pm
i was walking around friday afternoon, kind of walk in. there wasn't when any ride or violence there. so this would certainly be some kind of a different. ringback motivation, something that would have waited a couple days that people weren't expecting, which would of course, call into question, you know, for maximum effect, maximum harm. you know, why would this happen at this time when people were least expecting when people really. ringback thought that violence wave or that, that threat of riots would have already ended by sunday afternoon. just some background. a few years ago in virginia at a white nationalist parade. basically, we had a similar incident happened. can we draw any perilous parallels from this to other incidents that have happened in the u. s. specifically, we've talked a bit a little bit about it before, but can you expand on that? you know, i think i think people are always going to want to draw parallels on some of these, you know, and i think the only parallel really that we can draw, we can't look at anything and say that this is, this is one thing or another,
8:20 pm
this has some kind of motivation, but in terms of parallels of, of, of how we do things. and the motive operation. i mean, people are bad people, regardless of what they, what they believe, what they espouse, what, what i always say they have, they're always going to look at what somebody else is able to do and say, and emulate that. and copy that for maximum vantage. you got a berlin, we were talking about nice to me in the mean. the thing became international news and if whoever was involved with it, if this was intentional and whoever was involved, i mean, now there's reports that they had a gun out, the windows wells, but maximum damage. and you wonder why people choose these events. you happy events, christmas parades and family to just going to church, had just gone to celebrate their religious beliefs or their faith another or just enjoying something with their families on a sunday afternoon. right after a packers game and, and why, why does what happened here?
8:21 pm
i mean, it's to create maximum pain, maximum suffering, and so that is where that comes in. i think any, any parallels are going to be tough obviously, you know, i, i'm sure the f, b, i get the ball. they're going to be looking at these kinds of things because intent matters, especially when this is intentional. intentional motivation matters. ideology matters, especially if this person meant to do this meant to cause this much damage and that is what i know investigators are looking at now. all right, was interesting to hear thoughts. first off, i want to say i'm glad your people are safe. you are in the milwaukee area, political and legal analyst, jeffrey and thanks for your thoughts. thank you. shawn americans enraged by the acquittal of kyle rittenhouse, as we're just talking about on the homicide charges have turned out in several cities in protests. the teenager brought a rifle to a racial justice rally last year in wisconsin. he then shot and killed 2 people and wounded a 3rd actions. his lawyers said were in self defense,
8:22 pm
but the rulings as part unrest across the country. we the jury find the defendant kyle, he'd written kyle: each red house not guilty with now that the jury is handed down, the verdict. it's dawn the the trials over. rittenhouse, not guilty on all accounts. we weren't sure where this was going. we being of course, the media and everybody else. it was day for deliberations. the journey from what we heard was had ordered food. there was talk about maybe if there was a verdict handed down that possibly the deliberations were going to extend into the weekend next week is thanksgiving. it's a holiday here in the united states. so even, even that the chief defender,
8:23 pm
that the main mark richards, who was written houses lawyer, he sat there, they were betting that tuesday $430.00 they, they're, they're more than likely would be a decision whether it was on jury, whether a verdict was handed down. that the jury would wrap up by then rest assured, this is not the end of the debate having to do with this case. it will continue to be debated both in the media, the politics surrounding it, and those who, who support current house and those who are, who are opposed to the ruling today. but a stunning turn of events. absolutely dramatic and an overall trial that's been dramatic and follow nationally and internationally. the mainstream media was quick to take sides and even got some fact badly wrong. british online newspaper, the independent claimed that written house shot 3 black men, when in fact all 3 were white or cheese. saki taylor comments now on the trial that has split the us not guilty towards that of sparked
8:24 pm
a firestorm in the us. white nationalists and domestic terrorists across this country. our high fiving had this person been african american or looked at a latino. he will be behind bars tonight. we've got a pattern now. we're white. men feel that they have the right to enforce the law themselves. the trial of kyle rittenhouse had america on the edge of it seat. it set up an epic clash for some, he's a bloor in order. a hero, a real american, taking on out of control, riotous for others peace. everything that's wrong with the country, a racist white vigilante, you can cute to kill no questions asked. and while the judge might think his courtroom showed the very best of american justice, that attentiveness and the cooperation that you gave to us. this justifies the confidence that the founders of our country placed the many divides. it proves
8:25 pm
the opposite, that justice system is rotten to. it's a very cool. we just witnessed a system built on white supremacy, validate the terroristic acts of a white supremacist. this only further validates the need to abolish our current system. white supremacy cannot be reformed. a system that legitimize its mitchell and to murder is dictated, broken. today's verdict speaks for itself. i've spent the majority of my career working to make our criminal justice system more equitable. it's clear there's still a lot more work to do if you needed any more proof of how polarizing the rittenhouse case was. look no farther than twitter. minutes off to the verdict was delivered to hashtags that started trending. so you either with him or against him, that was no in between, especially true. if he were mainstream media, they might have been short on the fact, but they shall fanned the flames of division. many outlets continued to co.
8:26 pm
rittenhouse, a white supremacist, to fight counting up no evidence. and despite the fact that the 2 people he killed, what both white and well, everyone expected reporting around the trial to be frenetic, desperation for the ultimate scoop per some to cross the line. i have instructed that no one from emission b c. news will be permitted in this building, someone who is following the jury bus. that is a very, extremely serious matter. i saw the president on who's what the thought happened. well, biden's a bit confused about how he feels. having initially backed the jury. i say, why wouldn't jury, as with curious, if the work you have to provide on his way home, he clearly had a change of heart and decided he wasn't piece at all. so he put out a statement expressing his anger. but at the same time, he didn't want things spiraling out of control. after all,
8:27 pm
he's already got enough rating bashing bottles on his hands. i urge everyone to express their views peacefully consistent with the rule of law, violence and destruction of property have no place in our democracy. not a surprise, right? we know biden's all about healing a process. he started back during his election campaign when he posted a video about white supremacists include bring a photo of written house, but the case was too divisive. i'm younger too much to stem people, took to the streets. ah, it, and with $500.00 national guards and stand by, that's clearly no expectation the coms on the horizon. we all knew the rittenhouse trial would expose deep seated divisions. but the intensity of the emotions it's
8:28 pm
triggered shows how volatile the situation really is. and how all it takes in today's america is one small strike of a match for everything to explode. u. s. libertarian activist, in spite cohen talked to us about the reaction america can expect. this is actually going to stoke racial divides. and the reason it's going to stoke racial divides is because politicians and media figures are using it to stoke racial, divides kyle is white, and he shot 3 white people and killed 2 white killing 2 of them. so this on its face should not be racial, but it became racial because media heads and politicians who wanted to make it racial, have turned it into a racial incident and it shouldn't be. but unfortunately that's the reality we live in. is that everything, any incident that happens like this, you're going to have politicians sometimes on both sides of the argument and, and, and incorporated figures who are going to do everything they can to stoke, treat intention, keep people divided to keep them watching and clicking and to keep people
8:29 pm
8:30 pm
oh, what we've got to do is identify the threats that we have. it's crazy. even foundation, let it be an arms race is on offense. very dramatic development. only nationally and getting to this i don't see how that strategy will be successful. very difficult time to sit down and talk ah, we are seeing high levels, one certainty creeping in economic life. and i think we're all aware of the disruption of global supply chain spike in the cost of energy. we single we, appearance of inflation and i think all of these constitute on the economy. scroll down to sign risks.
