hello, ah, ah, top headlines right now, an anti international crisis talks between joe biden and vladimir putin, our church ward for later in the day, ultimately triggered by tensions over ukraine. and here at our tea, we talked exclusively to the russian presidential spokes person. just to be connected with the rhetoric coming from the u. s. and e u leaders sounds pretty aggressive. we see plenty of fake news about russia allegedly planning an aggressive invasion. the pope a condemned to the so called inclusive language of the e u saying it threatens the blocks very existence while comparing it to the nazi regime. also in the program, a whistleblower and the british foreign office. so the u. k. fail to help thousands of people desperate to flee the taliban in afghanistan. ah,
8:01 am
or it is now just after 4 pm here in the russian capital. this is our t international. we do start this hour with some breaking news for you here. we're not see international i do beg, your pardon will be checking that breaking news here on r t and get back to you with that for the meantime to our top story for now. so high stakes talks between the russian and u. s. presidents are taking place later on tuesday. it's a mid rampant speculation about a possible invasion of ukraine and increased nato activity in the black sea. now in an exclusive interview with us here at r t, the kremlin so spokesperson told us the us becoming increasingly aggressive towards moscow museums toneta shows. and you must, now we see that nato is taking an extremely aggressive position. we see mister stalsen bugs, rhetoric, we see the different u. s. leaders, rhetoric burst. they all say they don't accept any red lines. second, they say that nato will do whatever it's once. 3rd,
8:02 am
it will do it on whatever territory it wants. 4th of all of this is aim to deter russia. we do not like that. we will do everything to ensure our own interests and lodging, vars. now also you linelle. a very important statement was made in the ukraine. defense ministers interview to you. k media essentially called the u. s. canada and the u. k. military to the front lines war and put out there to do that by, by passing nater veneer. so can you tell us both the last quote how much of a breach is the light of the red lines lie to me, a putin had to find no enemy? well, we have had similar statements from a number of european capitals, including as far as i know, a message from the british military that they were ready to send their troops over . not only those in training, but those in combat units as well. this is something we are obviously very concerned about. this is something we do not like, and it forces us to take some protective measures to defend our interests for the
8:03 am
head of their coal. joe biden basically set the tone by saying he will not accept any red lines. however, at the same time, the white house is not looking for any conflict or earlier artes. daniel hawkins told me more about what is at stake. oh, soon fun out. after today's meeting, it's going to say a lot about the the way conversations are, of course the president severely met once performed. parson at the summit in geneva in june's instantly had phone calls, but this is the 2nd face to face me. it will be it online. of course, and really relations have been an all time low best that was they've been getting even worse in a spiral of tip without expulsions and threats of sanctions. and we mentioned red lines that through the buzzword of the day, because for moscow, they very clearly said the red lines that a deployment of certain weapon systems missile troops in ukraine, as your body said, he's not concerned by that. washington will act as they see fit, and this comes against the backdrop of threats, of new sanctions, of course, and saying it will potentially target move over the russian government. bloomberg
8:04 am
saying that should be targeting russian banks and their ability to convert roubles into foreign currency. and even targeting the russian direct investment fund, that's the russian southern wealth fund. now, since then, the head of the main bank, because back in russia government graft has said that that's nonsense, that can't possibly happen. nevertheless, the threat is still there, as is the threat of the so called nuclear option cutting off russia from the swift international banking payment system. not an option put on the table in summer that wasn't discuss any further. now that is again being talked about. and despite these metre accusations of the russian military build up the possibility of conflict, musk of course fuses for differently foreign minister lava off today said that in fact, this ukraine's position which changes her almost on a daily basis. well, could i come or go to new ukrainian leadership? there are so many people, so many mines, and they can change their opinion, several times a day, their streams of consciousness that pull in different directions when you, he's at
8:05 am
a loss to understand why the onus is on russia to stop or whatever, ah violations. there are of the ceasefire and not when ukraine and d that's confirmed also by the presidential spokesman with the prescott who dismiss a lot of washington was saying as hostile rhetoric, this is what out the say. just reading it into a group, which is the rhetoric coming from the u. s. and e u leaders sounds pretty aggressive. we see plenty of fake news about russia, allegedly planning and aggressive invasion. at the same time, no one talks to care of non warns care of against even thinking of a military intervention in the done yet elegance conflict. and given the complicated background of us russian relations, it will be a difficult discussion for the leaders. the presidents obviously have the need to talk to each other, even in the most strained of moments when attitudes are not what i will call rational or sober, but emotionally magnified. so as the escalation gets stronger every day than the presidents, you obviously bear the responsibility. feel the need to discuss the issues.
8:06 am
whitehouse said on a briefing recently that they're not seeking conflict with russia yet. they will threaten consequences for harmful actions on russia's fort whatever. of course, that may mean boris johnson, you k prime minister saying the u. k. will use all available economic and diplomatic tools to stop russian aggression of the of the ukrainian defense ministers actually call on at the u. k. canadian, a u. s. government to bring troops into ukraine. not just advisors or trainers at combat troops. that attorney potential aggressive moves from moscow, and while politicians are busy wrapping up the rhetorics of the military chiefs that will have to potentially organize these operations are urging caution. in a case like this, diplomacy has to lead. we've got to be very careful. you've always got to take potential adversary's seriously was have started because of potential miscalculations before throughout history. it's hard to say really what we can expect from this meeting, pest golf. as i said, just in the last few minutes,
8:07 am
that effectively the messages don't get your hopes up the talk. so play are taking place at a very difficult time. and it's best to lot think too far ahead for fear or failure because that is likely. here are some other very public figures. i've also expressed their opinions about just how things could go and what the balance of power in these talks could be. this is not a match that should even be allowed. this is, take the new england patriots playing your high school football team. that's what you have right now. on trump, as usual, i'll spoke himself, but on a, on a serious note, both leaders here will be trying to assert the authority to push their worldview and who is, who was, was wrong here. and what exactly is at stake now if the 2 leaders managed to find some sort of consensus, some sort of compromise. we could see the escalation here if they fail, then again, we'll afraid well into the spiraling downward curve of sanctions. counter sections, expulsion tit for tat threats. and that's really not want. anybody wants to cease,
8:08 am
we'll find out around 6 p. m. oscar time. when the meeting takes place. what came of it? so this is our fee international for the past number of minutes here at this channel . we've been trying to confirm the final details of some breaking news coming out of moscow. right now. as we understand, 2 people have been killed and 3 others injured in a shooting of the incident occurred at a public services center. a member of the public reportedly open fire following an argument with a member of staff over the need to wear face mosques. the shooter, as we understand, has been detained. some sources say he's a 45 year old man. i hear it here at ortiz and online at odyssey dot com will bring you more details as soon as we have them. for now on the program hope frances has warned the e u that is in danger of bringing about its own downfall. if it doesn't tone down its efforts to impose one way of thinking for all even compared his methods to the
8:09 am
nazi regime. he was referring to a european commission drive to make official communications more inclusive. what exactly does that mean? uh, autism shot into whiskey? will she shed some light hope frances, essentially condemning the european commission in likening it to the nazi regime. he also offered a warning saying that brussels shouldn't be moving on a path towards this type of woke language. this is what the pontiff had to say in history. many, many dictatorships have tried to do this kind of thing. think of napoleon, think of the nazi dictatorship, the communist one. it is a fashion of a watered down secularism, distilled water. it is something that throughout history hasn't worked well that document was canceled last week after a firestorm of criticism with politicians across the block describing it is lacking common sense. now they also said that the commission was trying to cancel christmas
8:10 am
. why? well, one of the guidelines within that document said that people shouldn't say christmas can be stressful. and there was the idea of saying you shouldn't ask people for their christine name. now this idea of inclusive language is something that the commission president herself on de leon has in the past, backed and said she wants to move towards. but this document which contained many other examples like not greeting people as ladies and gentlemen, because that wasn't inclusive enough and saying you couldn't describe something as being man made because that would be sexist, was just as step too far. and as a result, the commission has had to make an embarrassing you tune and delete this document. now pope frances also talked about the idea of a document like this essentially weakening democracy. he said when national values are being sacrificed and this is something that was meant to unify europe as
8:11 am
instead what it's done is sewn e deeper divisions. and the pope himself warned that something like this could cause the full of the you itself. brussels must be careful not to take the path of ideological colonialist, zation, which could end up dividing countries and causing the european union to fail. well, was that document was cancelled last week. what it does is it raises questions about the political set up of the commission itself. and i say that because the commission is supposed to dot the eyes cross the t's, make sure that any document that's published is exactly what it wants to be. so the doesn't to track the sort of criticism we've seen over this documenting as it would have verified that before publication. it really begs the question, is this the direction that the commission wants to move in a direction where we have a world without christmas?
8:12 am
thousands of people desperate to flee the taliban in afghanistan. we just left behind without much help from the british foreign office. this was due to a lack of computers, staff, and on, on willingness of workers to do extra hours. in extraordinary circumstances. the claims come from a civil servant whose blowing the whistle on what went on in a damning 39 page report. i estimate fewer than 5 percent of these people have received any assistance. it is clear that some of those left behind have since been murdered by the taliban. her majesty's government, therefore transported animals which were not at risk of harm at the direct expense of evacuating british nationals and people at risk of imminent mazda, including interpreters who had served with the british army or crossing live to london and artes australia, edward's doctor joining us here sir, well shot out, some pretty embarrassing claims if they are true for the british government. what do you know? well, what we have had to day are serious allegations,
8:13 am
not just against dominic, rather than foreign secretary. but again, guess the government as a whole, really, this is a whopping 40 page document, a testimony of some really jaw dropping allegations. now as i said, as a testimony of from raphael marshall, he's a 25 year old former foreign office civil sat now he's on a rather senior level then. but actually he was on the front line here in westminster, dealing with numerous things for the foreign office at a particularly dark time when cobble was being seized by the taliban. when we sold those images of a thousands of people scrambling to get out of the country, well, he has now put down on paper, really damming allegations against the government and all of these mess ups, multiple mess ups, and why till particularly around processing applications and email requests from people and to try and get out of the country. he says that these mistakes cost
8:14 am
lives and ultimately left tens of thousands of people behind i estimate between 75150000 people applied for evacuation. many of these emails were not right. they were usually over 5000 unread emails in the inbox at any given moment, including many unread emails dating from early in august. these emails were desperate an urgent. well, his whistle blowers claims that on one particular afternoon at the heights of the issue when people are trying to leave the country. he was mounting a desk, a dealing with all of these emails completely alone. he says it was a shift that he actually volunteered to do how to not have volunteered. well, that would be nobody on that desk dealing with the thousands of applications coming through as for the criteria of the evacuation. well, he says that was so vague an ad hoc, the, what we were seeing is cleaners and shafts working for the b, b. c were being rescued. but those work, he has interpreters on the front line alongside the british army,
8:15 am
was simply and not then today we also have additional controversy surrounding pan father who's an ex marine who had an animal charity in afghanistan at the time i he in fact allegedly, according to this whistle blow. a was given priority, and therefore it seemed to be that human beings were nothing for ties, but animals were being rescued. now that is something that downing street has now denied, but dominic rob, he was speaking earlier today and he said the united kingdom just did its best. at the time. i regularly checked that we were properly resourced. we did everything we could, but you have to have some form of process again, otherwise you're not going to be living in those who amongst that need of you hope? well, that's not even the half of it allegedly, the team in white or had a woeful lack of knowledge of the region of woeful lack of knowledge of afghanistan . but also this whistleblower looks at the entire work ethos in white tool at the
8:16 am
time. we know that dominic rob was completely nowhere to be seen. in fact, he was on holiday as sunbathing as cobble was falling, but that's the attitude that somewhat filtered down the department with numerous people working from home and the mentality of all, well, somebody else will deal with that. he says that that was very dominant. i was a predominant feature in white toll at the time. so these are the allegations that are coming out today. it's all unfolding throughout the day here in the united kingdom, dominic rob himself has already been question numerous time. but if all of this is found to be true, well he then resign. of course, his position still remains as a deputy prime minister, haven't the united kingdom questions off how much longer? well, we have that position as all of these allegations are getting from bars to why. so i showed you. thanks for that. plenty more still to come here on the program on our team. we look at the increasing abuse faced by female prisoners in america who have
8:17 am
to share cells with self identifying trans women. we've got that story also an update on the breaking news from the heart of moscow with back injustice. ah, what we've got to do is identify the threats that we have. it's crazy even foundation, let it be an arms race is on offense. very dramatic and development only nationally and get into this. i don't see how that strategy will be successful, very difficult time. time to sit down and talk ah
8:18 am
ah i oh, going to be to join us today for this program on our t. so china has slammed a u. s. boy caught up it's winter olympics next year as a grave travesty. and one designed to provoke and manipulate. they wouldn't go us politicians keep a hyping up a diplomatic boycott without even being invited to the games. this wishful thinking
8:19 am
and pure grandstanding is aimed at political manipulation. it is a grave travesty of the spirit of the olympic charter, a blatant political provocation, and a serious affront to the 1400000000 chinese people don't. the stand off comes on the 10th relations with washington and beijing is political on economic competition affecting ever more spheres. a u. s. athletes will still compete, however, they just won't be any american officials. now the i r c. so it respects biden's decision and stressed the importance of leaving athletes out of politics or the white house for its par though sites concerns about alleged human rights violations in china. and that by new ministration will not send any diplomatic or official representation to the beijing 2022 winter olympics and paralympic games given the peer scenes, ongoing, genocide and crimes against a humanity. and john and other human rights abuses, the athletes and team usa have our full support,
8:20 am
will be behind them 100 percent. as we cheered them on from home. we will not be contributing to the fanfare of the games. where we got reaction from a pair of guests through ultimately say the by the ministration is trying to politicize the winter olympics. it's an unnecessary slight against paging. it looks like a reactionary attempt by a week president, but you know, it does signal that the, by the ministration wants to politicize the olympic somewhat similar to what we saw between the us and the ussr during the cold war. now this will indicate to many by does not subscribe the life experience a peaceful, athletic competition. we should keep in mind, however, that it's not a total boycott as your lead and noted. american athletes can feel compete. furthermore, it's not as provocative as what we see from the us with respect to ukraine against russia or taiwan against mainland china, or how the us stand or the proliferation of nuclear weapon to australia. the bigger
8:21 am
question now is whether other countries will follow washington fleet and impose similar boycotts and how china will respond. it's always unfortunate when you know the olympics is politicized. but i do think that the trend in american and china relations, despite the brief moment of, of call that seem to be expressed in the, in the video conference between general secretary, she and president biden, that that seems to have passed. and we're back to a more overtly hostile attitude. it's interesting, of course, that american athletes will still be competing. american corporations that sponsor the olympics and broadcast out on television, of course don't want to lose out on their revenues. so i think that there's a very interesting dichotomy here between this attitude on the part of the government and the broader position of the olympics. a women's rights organization is suing the us state of california for allowing men
8:22 am
into female prisons when they self identify as women and says women face physical and psychological trauma. while their cries for help are ignored. ortiz saskia taylor spoke to the group leader. but 1st, it looked at one particular case of sex abuse in one women's jail. meet princess. so we andromeda love, formerly known as hobby bang on an ex inmate at the washington correction center for women, and one of 3 transgender prisoners who transferred that this here. but why are we talking about this into virtual and not the thousands of others who've passed through the same doors. after being sentenced to prison, after being found guilty of having had sexual relations with the 12 year old girl bingham decided to identify as a woman and be called andromeda love. in this way, he managed to be transferred to the correctional center for women in washington. once there, he was found by prison stuff along with his cell mate, an inmates with
8:23 am
a developmental disability in a bed and without clothes. following this incident, prison all far tis determined that love had raped her vulnerable soul mate, who was already a victim of sexual assault, even more troubling prison self, allegedly didn't file a report. and now fears that similar incidents could still take place. a former guard that shares these fairs, believing that a weak system is being taken advantage of by deceitful men. because whilst the states prison department says that as policy ensures, call treatment and that there is a rigorous screening process, according to the person who's being on the inside, the reality is a little different. the only prerequisite is that the men must identifies female. they are required to have hud reassignment surgery don't need to be in the process of transitioning, nor do they have to be on a home or in regimen. the only requirement is that they must proclaim to identify
8:24 am
as a woman fleming, even claims that love got a show had caught and refer to, to identifying as male upon being released, and that of the transgender inmates at the same perhaps, on surprising than that, the policy of prisons in washington state has come on to scrutiny just as a has a bit farther down the west coast in california. because that earlier this year, a law was passed, allowing and mates to choose housing based on that gender identity. now says that around $300.00 requests being made. oh, nice 6 so far have been denied numbers that have scared some so much that a lawsuit has been filed, claiming that the bill unconstitutionally puts women at risk. so cynical exploitation of fundamental human rights with wild increasing you divided over the issue i spoke to lauren adams, legal director of the women's liberation front, the organization behind that very little suit. the reason we have, you know,
8:25 am
women only presents that we separate by sexes because men posed a danger to women. and there is no evidence that men who identify as transgender, regardless of what they've done to change their bodies, that they've posed less risk to women. i would imagine that in the course of your was, can i know property preparing thought little suit as well. you have spoken to a number of female and mates, and i just wanted to get your kind of general reaction as to what it is that you're hearing from them. we're hearing that they're, they're scared and they feel humiliated. this feels like just adding insult to injury, it's also important to know that many of the men who are transferring over have female co defendants are ex partners where in the women's presence. so just in california there's, i know, 2 women personally and there's a number of other women who i haven't spoken with who have their co defendants who
8:26 am
have transferred over one of them. the man who transferred over killed her children and he has been put in her facility that she lives and have you had also a from anyone of cases where someone refer to twice dent flying as a male off. they were released from prison because that seems to be, i was when i was doing research. but that did seem to be a concern among some, i don't know about after they've been released, but i do know after they've been transferred. so there is at least 2 who are in there now, who after they were transferred, stop taking hormones. they had been taking hormones and stopped in california alone . and many of them have they, you know, dress more feminine or where their camera, feminine in the men's prison. and then when they arrive at the women's prison cut their hair, they start act, you know, acting like man is, is how it's been put to me. and, and it's, it's,
8:27 am
it's very terrifying for the women who have to share space with them and have to sleep in a locked room with them. have to shower in front of them and use the toilet in front of them to feel unsafe and to be unsafe. in that way, the medical have that be more reports of sexual assault. has that been pregnancies? for example, is contraception. now, 100 out. we know that they have been handing out condoms. they have changed their policy from as of when this was implemented so that other contraceptives such as birth control, hormonal birth control, and other things are available to the women inmates. which of course, is there, acknowledgement that these are men who are being transferred in there or else why would they need birth control? how's that being a case? female inmates feeling unsafe? will maybe they themselves have been a victim of something ton to the prison authorities for advice for help, and found that they didn't receive anything. going back to california too because
8:28 am
that's the one i'm the state i'm work the most. and on this issue they, there was one woman who was sexually assaulted by one of the the the transferred inmates. and she immediately disclosed to staff like within, within a few minutes of it happening. and they told her that if she wanted to be separated from him, that she needed to basically move herself to either go to administrative segregation which is essentially solitary. and then go to another prison. there was no chance that he would be remote from her space. and it wasn't until we got involved and you know, she was able to get them to finally treat it as a prison, rape elimination act complaint where they take it a little bit more seriously. so until that happened a, just so we don't know how many women have been dismissed like that. it's happening more and more. and we get emails from people and calls from people all the time,
8:29 am
letting us know that it's happening in this state or that state. and it's just happening quietly because people know that it's not a defensible thing to do, and so they don't talk about it. it's up to us to expose it. so we did contact the washington center mentioned at the start of sas cruz report about the alleged abuse in the facility and told us it didn't recognize the description of the incident. and there was no open pending will close to rape investigation that, i mean, well here we are just wanted to give you an update. here we are getting breaking news here in the heart of the russian capital here at moscow. as we understand as being a shooting at a service center, not far away from where we are now, we'll get a correspondent alive, short and updates for you when we return. in just a moment.
8:30 am
to what we've got to do is identify the threats that we have. it's crazy even foundation, let it be an arms race is on often very dramatic development. only personally and getting to resist. i don't see how that strategy will be successful. it's very difficult time time to sit down and talk join me every 1st bit on the alex simon. sure. and i'll be speaking together for the world politics sport. business. i'm show business. i'll see you then. mm. ah, that money printing is driving up the energy costs and it's gonna force russia into the u. n. for that to happen.
