most adaptive and they're able to integrate quickly into the economy quickly in just a production systems. unlike large businesses, we live in a fast paced world. the pandemic has accelerated the processes of digitalization, while marketing and informational messages are becoming more personalized. this creates new requirements for content, which should become more and more diverse. more details about that story online right now at auto dot com. well that wraps up the news cost for this. how thanks for joining us. we are back soon with aah! with london, just love polls, particularly when polls further a certain political agenda when polling has a checker history. as of late the last 2 election cycles tell us as much,
7:31 am
should we put much stock into polling anymore. it so then why? one of the, the retailer has decided to actually take a break from social media, but it, it for their mental health course that actually are yours. we will discuss this with facebook said it's fact checkers are from a 3rd party. therefore, facebook themselves are not venturing one line of ideology over another. but why did facebook failed to mention? they are ok, but these fact checkers having their own opinions. it's all in the details and we will discuss and during this latest outbreak of a deadly weather across the mid south, did companies choose to put profit over the safety of their workers. we will give you all the details and discuss with our expert panel. and prince andrew has tried again to have complaints of abuse against him dismiss,
7:32 am
or at the very least field we will let you know everything that's happened up until now and they just plain maxwell trial. i'm a guy now use in these stories and more on today's news views use right here on our tea america. let's get started. ah, good grade to be with you today. you know, we all know major changes that were made to facebook. now re branded as meta had back in 26 after donald trump won the presidential election. all of these started, it began implementing what it called, fact checkers as well. but now have 2 major lawsuit with a cable tv news host. there may be a different view about who these people are that are looking to sort out what they call misinformation. large correspondent natasha suite has more on the findings. after facebook was left with the lawsuit by fox news host,
7:33 am
john stossel forbidding his report on the california wildfires, he struck back with litigation. but the lawsuit language is calling these fact checkers protected opinion. you may be familiar with fox news house, john stossel as a libertarian. he is hard on the government and he likes to ask tough questions, but he wasn't too happy after a video he made about the california wildfire as posted to meta, then known as facebook was censored by the company's font checkers. you must be protected from my video, says this frenchman. amazingly facebook. let him censor me. but are they really front checkers well, according to the lawsuit, meta states. otherwise, it says startles claims focus on the fact check articles written by climate feedback. not the label effects through the facebook platform. labels themselves are neither false nor defamatory to the contrary. they constitute protected opinion . so marker berg emits that these so called fact checkers are really just protected opinion. so this means when sorting out what they claim to be,
7:34 am
misinformation could also be something they merely disagree with. the one that is a private company, it makes you question just how far they will go to protect the narrative they want . it's users to hear reporting for new if you choose and talk to sweet r t. i have a feeling looking back, protected opinion is going to be one of those words that we have decided is going to be a part of the dictionary. all one word by the end of 2022. that's why i wanna discuss the facebook fact checkers and other ways. a social media is taking over our lives and bring in invest, give johnston swan and reese everson, founder of the i should project, like i said, i'm loving these new words that are being created protected opinion and who actually gets to distinguish that you both her to tosh, a package, then let's start with you. what does it mean for facebook to basically admit their quote unquote, fact checkers is based on opinion protected opinion that is right away. it's a nonsensical term, right? either it's protected speech or it's now it we would call that free speech, right?
7:35 am
they have free free speech. the problem is, i've been saying this for well over a year and documented very heavily by the way, facebook, censorship of people online, including myself. by the way, i've had a ton of pieces that facebook has labeled as misinformation because of their 3rd party fact checkers. the problem is, in my case as well as many others, is there even been times when facebook's factors admit they didn't even bother to read or watch the video that's on platform. they simply label it this way. and so here's what's interesting. so in order to be the family, tory right, what stossel is saying is that facebook fact checkers are calling him a liar. they're saying that he is lying and putting misinformation out into the public. and his claim is, i'm not. the fact is i'm presenting faxing information as part of this report and facebook is smearing me by putting a label on my content that's calls me a liar. facebook say, no, we're not hearing you. we can call you a liar because that's just our opinion or the opinion of our fact checkers. but here's the problem in the system. is that the fact checkers have all the power?
7:36 am
it's all weighted towards them. so when they call john sol, so or ben swanner, scott hughes, a liar, their ruling gets to stand. if we respond by saying, we're not liars, here's the information that we're putting out, that our fax, we don't have equal standing to be able to combat that appeal, the process or, or be able to push back against this claim was put on there. so i don't think personally that facebook claim here in court is going to go very far because i feel like they're trying to have it both ways are trying to claim protected opinion while giving that protected opinion, enormous weight compared to the people that are being smeared all while i get to sleep at night thinking that it has nothing to do specifically with their company reef your take. absolutely. so here's the interesting thing, as we know, facebook, the private company, the 1st amendment does not apply to a private company. however, because it's a law in it's a foundational why in america, it's a set of values. it's more than just the law to set a value in a way of thinking that americans generally share. and so that role that plays of
7:37 am
free of freedom of speech in our democratic society is being push back on by facebook. and it's giving a lot of people just bad by. first of all, you're right when you say something on facebook, the last thing you want is the joe wilson hollering in the back. you lie. 0 no one acts facebook to be a to, to fact check things that people say, especially if they're not willing to fact check what politicians say they're willing to lead politicians say whatever they want. but then when a private individual like you were, i say whatever it is that we think we have someone fact checking us. and that's not what we signed up for with facebook in the 1st place. and it's definitely not something that a mega company that governs something like a communication platform. it's not something they should be involved in. again, we're anti it as an american, we're generally anti restriction of our freedoms and something that so censorship, heavy is, is really uncomfortable. well, and this goes back to the question, is facebook a platform and information platform?
7:38 am
is it actually create information itself? and when you sit there and say, you have the fact checkers who have protected opinions, it seems to be that you're actually an aggregator yourself. but i guess that's all going to be decided by a judge recently to get your take on this, you know, due to met his own data about their social media apps affecting teenagers, the u. k. cosmetic company love for many of you that don't know, it's kind of like a so make your own kind of soap and motion type of product has now deleted all of their social media, facebook, instagram, tick, tock, snapshot, which is a really big deal for businesses in the 2021. no small move, combine those accounts could added to 2600000 followers. and c, e o. mark competing actually came out and said the move would cost him to the tune of $30000000.00 in revenue. i think that's actually very light, but guess what? he was happy to do this. so reese, is this the future for protecting mental health, or is this just why off trying to capitalize on some sort of public ballistic? yeah, i appreciate where mar constantine is going and wanting to say that we make soap
7:39 am
with not or get with only organic products and, and ingredients. so we want to make sure that our consumers are accessing us on platforms that are only organic and healthy to them. but that's the equivalent of saying, you know what, we're going to close our stores or locations where there is a mcdonald's. because we don't want you to stop and big donald and have a happy meal or make, make chicken on your way to pick up our products. you just can't govern that sort of thing. people who are, you know, buying these soaps or just any consumer this day and age, they want access to the can, the companies that they buy from. and so to remove your presence from instagram, facebook and tick tock is really doing a huge to service. i don't really see an upside to it. it seems like a play for attention. like i said, unless you're going to remove your location from every mall where they sell chick fil a or anything that's being possibly unhealthy. you're really not able to, to govern that. or once again, i don't think anybody can delete their social media account because
7:40 am
a soap product is not going to brokerage bend to you. another social on house store and social media knows everything about facebook. take talk, all these companies are able to gather information about our interest having to pinpoint who we are. a woman says that it her, her social media knew she was gay while she was divorcing her husband and she didn't even know it yet. is this a woke agenda or a secure example of how they have the algorithm? so figured out to pick out exactly something about you even if you don't know that's who you are yet. well, i think part of it could be her also reading into it a little bit, but yes, i think to be our rhythms, know what you look at. they know what you're interested in. they're gathering so much information from so many different points about you. it's not something know this about you ahead of time, but they certainly know what your interests are. so while she may not recognize all of her, her hourly behavior, she certainly might have been leaning interest wise towards certain things that are keen within the algorithm. remember, the algorithms are just pulling from one set of information either it's,
7:41 am
so many of these companies are pulling from multiple sources of information, not only from, you know, our google search histories to our social media habits. what we look at, what we shop for. i mean it's so many different things and so some of that might be coincidental, some of being read into, but some of it is also definitely in terms of algorithms that they are monitoring and have a very strong idea about what we're doing. last thing, very quickly, back to the facebook things, i can just say, you know, we talk about free speech on a company in a private company. what they can do, remember that private company, whether they're tick, tock or facebook or instagram, do not have a right to defame, right? no matter what speech you allow, you don't have the right to defend. and someone might take those little reminders or whatever a little logo that they put at the bottom of view as actual defamation. that will be an interesting case when someone brings that to a courtroom, probably soon been really great to talk with you here as well. so the public remains transfixed by the trial of disgrace, socialite and alleged human trafficker designs, maxwell machine accuser, procuring under age victims for that is miss jeffrey epstein. i'm actually legal
7:42 am
team was actually expected to call 35 witnesses to the stand this thursday guilty verdict, 80 years behind bars for maxwell, she still says i'm innocent. so joining us discuss this and other enduring puzzles, legal issues that reverberating from epstein and its network of high flying predatory debauchery ring. catherine waters spent decades studying abusive family, dysfunctional relationships, and enabling and as a writer and host of her podcast. the family industrial complex on the one great work network dot com. welcome. thank you so much for joining me. thank you so much for having me. i truly appreciate it. well, i bet this speaks a lot to your research. everything that we're now finding out about what went on in the world of epstein prosecution is rest of the case. after 10 days, a very low test, one of the we didn't actually get to hear most of it. sensation one has already said its peak already with this creepy salacious image of design. maxwell prosecution is actually trying to pay and paint this for the jury. but could we be
7:43 am
in for any surprises moving forward and describe just kind of the image of maxwell . we should expect from thursdays testimony that she's hoping to put off to the world. as far as i know, glean maxwell is not going to testify what they were supposed to have, and they may be having it this thursday where the court was, you know, put off until a, you know, quote unquote, false memory expert is supposed to be on as far as what i know, she was supposed to take to stand on thursday and court had adjourned early about 11 am in the morning due to an illness, which i believe was that false memory expert. but again, i, you know, i am not absolutely sure of that. so, but i, i do believe that she is going to be called maybe on this thursday or friday to, you know,
7:44 am
say that the accusers are having false memories. and that's what gets me, this has happened so often these cases, hence why a lot of women and men don't go out against their abusers. why is this allowed to progress the demon ization of the victim in order to try to distract from the actual, whatever the evil that the predator did, we see at time and time again at the successful defense? why is that about? why should it matter that someone so even that you know, word, the actions, whether they're right or wrong of the victims has anything to do with the evil that was presented in the 1st place by the person who perpetrated it? a lot of what they try to do is like the defense actually tried. * to do on friday, right after the prosecution closed was you get an acquittal and have the case thrown out due to a lack of evidence, which was, you know, the judge saying, goodness didn't go for it. but, you know, to try to say that these young, you know,
7:45 am
minor people did not have evidence like, as if their own experiences are not evidence. i mean, of course there's video tape like what happens all the video tape that was collected, that the f b i has that just like disappeared and you know, and so leaving only like, you know, the accusers word against, you know, the perpetrators word, i mean, which is ridiculous, i mean there was evidence they collected evidence and it's, you know, where is it? and the common sense it seems to be missing just looking at such as a real quick before lunch, go or talk about prince andrew, across the pond. he's going to try to get this sealed, if not thrown out, once again, does he have any sort of possibility of this actually happening? i mean, i would say most certainly he does, like gum allen durst. you it says as you know,
7:46 am
it's similar to alan der shoe eggs you suing virginia roberts for sure. you know for going after hint for defamation. so it really is like a power play. it's, you know, i mean, there's a lot of abuse of power going on. and, you know, i, when i studied family system, my, you know, it's that i call it a micro of the macro that we're living today. well, it's a very powerful, powerful circle that's handling this. i think it's why we're not able to get that close to the truth. if we ever are allowed to am, i doubt that we will have that chance. thank you for joining us on this topic. thank you very much for having me. now after the break, we will give you the latest from the tornado, as well as the following. this weekend's events of new relations that we put into place regarding employees right in the workplace. when he returns, ah,
7:47 am
scientific knowledge has never been so readily available to everyone across the globe, but overwhelmed by information. how can we distinguish the real science from the one being imposed upon us? we're living in a world where there are many people who have a vested interest in finding information, finding scientific evidence, and discrediting even the notion that science could provide the truth about the natural world in the pursuit of business goals. large corporations are challenged strongly by scientific evidence if you're emotionally invested and free markets, them climate change is a serious emotional threat because dealing with it means we have to change our approach to business industries are on the war bond attempting to debunk legitimate science by producing new evidence in science writing science. that's how ignorant says manufactured. they are constantly seeking to the rail science rolling using
7:48 am
science itself. talk driven by dreams shaped banks. concur some of those with sinks. we dare to ask ok, so the assessment of the damage caused by the 44 tornadoes, which spanned 9 state 5, friday evening and into the early hours of saturday is continuing. their search teams are still looking for victims. as the count sits at 88 fatalities ranging in
7:49 am
ages 5 months to 86 years, president biden will visit 3 different cities in kentucky on wednesday, which was the state hardest hit. and he has declared a state of emergency and kentucky, illinois, and tennessee. additional emergency requests are being made for our noise. this will broaden the amount of a federal assistance including funds which will become available for individuals or public infrastructures damage in this storm. a 1000 still remained without public utilities like water and electricity, as both government officials and private organizations. volunteers are sitting on the region all to bring aid and relief. but now another argument is emerging regarding workplace safety. once again, multiple fatalities are being found in warehouses, which were hit by the tornado or class in the storm. an amazon warehouse, edwards, vo, illinois, collapse killing at least 6 people after it was hit by an f 3 tornado. and while several of the employees had been directed to shelter and bathroom to buy amazon
7:50 am
managers, other said they were forced to continue to work during the tornado warning, causing retail wholesale and department store unions to criticize the global giant . now amazon also had relax his policy regarding the benny of cell phones on the warehouse for during the pandemic, the band was going to resume in january and workers were saying some of their managers have already resume to the ban amazon, amazon, which is one major corporation who has been accused of putting profits over employee safety. but what about smaller companies? as in the case of mayfield, consumer products, candle factory. 8 workers were killed when the facility was leveled by the tornado friday night. now conflicting statements from the employees and the managers are merging as to whether or not employees were told they would be fired if they left. initially, workers were not allowed to leave following the 1st emergency alarm when everyone was kept him hallway and bathroom before being cleared. however, now in a 2nd wave was coming 3 to 4 hours later, multiple employees wanted to go home and say they were told if they left,
7:51 am
their job was in jeopardy. company officials have denied the allegations to discuss . let's bring into mike murphy, who is a business owner in the mayor of lexington, minnesota. and joe smith, who is the ceo of transformer to research gentleman problem. so job, and i want to start with you saying a worker can't leave, sounds really heartless, actually. but can business is actually afford to shut down every time. there is a warning whenever there is multiple times throughout the years. so mike action, i want to go to you on this. when do you think whether warnings in, in europe there with blizzards, obviously go into the winter time? do you think a business can actually shut down every time there? is this warning, or is there another a better, more responsible, practical place, which kind of keeps, keeps the worker safe, but also allows business to continue. yeah, i do agree, i think when we have severe storms, severe weather, especially here in minnesota where i'm from, you know,
7:52 am
we have major snow storms all the time and we closed down and send our employees home early for safety reasons. we don't want them drive it in, you know, 12 inches of snow or more. it's not safe. especially when it comes to this weather situation, which was a weird phenomenon that occurs every now and again in december. and we already knew that there are a tornado on the ground and another wave was coming. and these companies are putting profits over the safety of their employees. and they should have had the ability to go home and be there with their families, protect them. but they also should have the ability to have their cell phones with them. you can't, you can have a no cellphone policy while you're working. but i mean, you should be forced to leave your cell phone in your vehicle, especially if there's a family emergency see or other type of emergency where you need that. well, obviously you be on the shore and government have to be held for different standard . you get out at the ballad every, every few years when you go back to so government life is a little bit different for the private sector. but do you think that in cases following this, that we're going to see a federal and state building regulations for corporations actually go in regards to
7:53 am
storm shelter, or will there be actually cries, this is overreach because of the additional cost. this will cost some of these businesses to be able to manufacture. yeah, i'm not for government overreach at all, and i'm also running for governor of the great state of minnesota as well as being a mayor. but what we need to have is the ability for our employees to know that they can be connected to their loved ones when needed, and that our employers are being responsible to our employees. and that's what creates a positive and healthy workforce in our country, especially a workforce right now that is dying underneath the bided administration, with inflation. in the supply chain crisis, we need to make sure that our employees are healthy and they're happy. and if it costs a company a little bit of extra money, i think check base of that amazon can afford that. well, but i want to bring tobin on on this one because do you think there could actually see following the events that have happened this week? and they could, you actually see this idea that the government will put in places where they're talking about new orleans that they hit by hurricane and people rebuild. or when
7:54 am
you're done a tornado alley and people not being able to have storm shelters. could you see a mandate more government mandates coming in, or if they can mandate as to where mascot in public or private buildings, they also have that mandate coming forward for safety within homes. well, you know, get, get something straight here. number one, amazon is a giant company, but amazons drivers many ones who were kill for all independent contractors. so, you know, if it was good for the good, good for the gander, right. the guy who are the contract drivers co inside the warehouse, but they're not employees of amazon day if they were asked to not use their cell phone or not so forth. that would be out of the range amazon. the other side of it is just talking to people in kentucky and you know, this is so unreal to happen in december. the tornado time is april, you know, through june. right. so some of the part was they got these,
7:55 am
they got alarms coming out at $530.00 and nothing happened. and so there was that tweaking time now, should amazon or anybody else who has lots of employees, particularly this candle company, for instance. we've ordered people not believe in iranian fired. they are a real problem. no records. there was no record that said that amazon was going to fire somebody if they left. there is a protocol that when you have those a lot in kentucky, any other place where you have there is a lot down. because honestly, if you looked at the homes and you look, this is the video. they were safer in that warehouse than many of the thousands of people who had their homes look, you know, as you're going to destroy the right answer here, however, is that the employer has to give the person a right to leave. and, and that's our choice. the reason why they don't that is because the us legal
7:56 am
system was going to hold amazon to be checkbook, you know, responsible for their and also the legal papers. i'm a real person, let me alone, only make my choice and in their contract because it's a union contract. they didn't have that choice well and that they said, or school that the tornado or any sort of threatening, or you can take your child out of school because then that school crowd liable for enhanced by the school buses go in and there's a lot of snow going to be on the ground. i want to ask you about you is this so i think of march madness 8400000 hours on average or last employee. watch the games on company time. $1700000000.00 every march. and last for companies. other distractions phones can cause which could put the workplace in danger, especially when you have a very active warehouse with heavy equipment. so are we having this debate regarding employees rights being in the past, employees that do you think it's because they've taken advantage of the situation? hence why those phones aren't allowed in the 1st place? well talk about amazon is, is they can make the argument that we're going to with whole calls because it's
7:57 am
going to cut your productivity. lord knows when you have a vest on there, it's kinda rough id pass inside. they know that the way you mark their monitor, how many things you pack per minute definitely where you are and what you're doing at the amazon plan. and so the issue on the cell phone thing is obviously just you know, you know, how people are cell phone if somebody is doing this all the time and i'm sure it does hurt productivity. but if you go to the other extreme, you know much about it. i don't know what it was on. it has it down to the penny that it seems silly for them to also say, oh, you can have your cell phone because if your blood and your cell phone, they're going to know and you're going to get docked pay or you put them permission or you get fired, so over, and it's really interesting to see how much control these businesses feel like they
7:58 am
have over there over over their employees. post coven, i think that's also change if you're seeing the question dr. mayer tobin always great chatting with you. thanks for joining me. well guess what, that's all the time we have for today show, but i promise this is a conversation like always we want to continue to follow me on twitter at the end. you lots of interesting topics going on right now, but also make sure you use the hash tag team and v 8 and for their show and more affordable that to be app for apple or android device. ah ah the ah ah, the
7:59 am
oh right now there are 2000000000 people who are overweight or obese. it's profitable to sell food. this is tracey and sugary and salty and it is not at the individual level. it's not individual willpower. and if we go on believing that never change is obesity epidemic, that industry has been influencing very deeply. the medical and scientific establishment for what's driving the obesity epidemic. it's corporate with
8:00 am
help headlines. but that's how i hear one r t a caught in germany fines, or russian man responsible for carrying out a tailing in berlin on moscow's orders. russia denies any involvement in the case, claiming a total lack of evidence. facebook, the parent company admits in court, but it's a 3rd party fact check. so nothing more than opinion is fueling further allegations of bias and censorship across social media jail to try to protect young girls, denmark, x immigration minutes, nuggets 2 months behind bars, a separating refugee child wives from their husband. if she was so worried about them, then she the diminished drug would have been something more humane where the child care about trying to cheat 3 people. so.
