to preemptively gather intelligence, to preemptively stop the sort of terrorist attacks, not just have the information that can be used and be useful after an attack about what the police are going to do. so why do we spend less money on all, incredibly invasive intelligence agencies? if they are letting these people sit between the cracked time after time after time, not just in the u. k, or the usa, but across europe as well as the last 7 years. are you confident lessons have been learned as to what happened over the weekend, or are we going to see further instance other crimes happening if there is what seems to be on the said such a weak communication between the u. k. and us authorities, i am sure they will say the lessons learned. what that will mean in reality is that they will probably scoop up and share even more in increasingly invasive communication technologically. and they will say to protect all of us against terrorism. whereas in fact, if they did the job properly preemptively to target and stop potential terrorists

rather than invading all pharmacy and take away all our civil liberties and countries that would be much more effective. and that would be the channel. i would suggest that they start looking into, rather than just aggressively breaking whale, actually like small civil liberties in line, which is not helping them if not helping them to protect us. and it's not protecting our national security. and michelle, i'm speaking to me earlier will love is where we leave the news update for now, but still lots ahead, including another year. another spate of attacks on asians in new york city. next news views hughes us not only what's being done to tackle it, but if the will exist to find the perpetrators stay close for all, not the oh. tonight, questions surrounding recent incidents about hate crimes,

race and religious beliefs on the forefront of the controversy boss is a former president donald trump really planning another run after his speech in arizona over the weekend somewhere convinced his campaigning days are not over and more allegations about even closer ties between lane maxwell and prince andrew. i'm natasha sweets and you're watching the news use who's right here on our t america. ah . hello and thank you so much for joining us. i'm natasha sweet in for scotty now hughes. we begin with a rather disturbing story in the nation's most heavily populated city. new york city officials are reporting a drastic search and crime newly released data from n y p t says that hate crimes have skyrocketed across the city. and now the manhattan district attorney is seen mass resignations over his alleged soft on

crime policies are tease. trinity chavez has more on the story from new york today, new york city officials on high alert as the nation's most populated city, is facing an uptick in crime specifically hate crime. new data from the new york city police department says hey, crimes have skyrocketed across the city overall. there were 503 reported hate crimes as of december. 5th of 252 in 2020. that's a 100 percent. increase police status spike has been driven by crimes against the asian community where there was been a staggering 361 percent increase. a $129.00 incidence so far this year versus the 28 last year. just last week, a homeless man shopped an asian woman to were deaf in front of an oncoming subway. train in new york city time square station. i this sad rise and hate crime as yet another crisis. officials are trying to battle amid

the corona virus pandemic. all recovery is dependent on the public safety in this city. and in the subway system. we can do that with the right balance, a balance of safety and a balance of pro actively given people the assistance they need when they move to health crisis. but as long foresman officials try to combat the surgeon crime amid the corona virus pandemic, manhattan district attorney alvin greg is he mast resignation from his prosecutors over his soft on crime policies. according to an internal memo obtained by the new york post brag, ordered his prosecutors to stop seeking prison sentences for hordes of criminals, and to downgrade felony charges and cases, including armed robberies and drug dealing. at least a dozen lawyers have quit within 2 weeks of his term under brag, soft on crime approach. robberies are directed to be persecuted as petty larceny. if no victim was wounded and there is no risk of physical harm while prostitution,
10:35 am
turnstile jumping weapons and marijuana possession won't be prosecuted at all. i reached out to the attorney general's office for reaction to the growing criticism surrounding his new approach and have not yet heard back in new york trinity job as r t. for more on the story we bring in manila chan, host of r t americas in question, and steve miles burg host of r t c at the present. thanks so much for coming on the show today at it. thanks and gotcha. so manella, let's start with you. what we saw in trinity story was absolutely heartbreaking. do you think the actions stem from what so many are calling asian hate? or is it just hate for other people in general? well, you know, i think natasha that, that while this incident at the new york city subway platform, i think this one was more of a case of a mental health issue. and i think that is the start problem that we're seeing in a lot of these big cities across the us that do happen to be democrat lead. i think
10:36 am
a lot of resources are not being placed where they need to go in places like this, where you just saw that man who was allegedly a homeless person with mental health issues shouting at the press. i don't believe that particular case was a, a case of asian hate, although yes, there is an unprecedented numbers of asian hate crimes going through the roof all over these big cities. this one in particular though, i wouldn't say was an example of that, but is a stark example of a lot of democrat cities not putting enough money and funding into the homeless crisis and the mental health issue that's happening across this country. yeah, both are are so extremely unfortunate. and now over the weekend, there was a frightening hosted situation at a texas synagogue. so for hostages or imported safe and their captors, dad, after a long stand off that began during services at congregation beth israel in colorado, texas. let's take a listen to what the israeli prime minister and president biden had to say. this
10:37 am
event is a stark reminder that the dark forces of anti semitism still exist. we must, and we will fight it. this was an active chair. in computer, not only was related to someone who had arrested i my dad 15 years ago and been in jail for 10 years. so steve, what is your take on the situation? some are saying that the shooter was reportedly muslim. do you think this was an attack on jewish beliefs or something deeper? no, from what we've heard in while he would, he was trying to. okay. first the f. b, i came out after the attacker was killed in the hostages were released and said that he was not targeting the jewish community. this was not an anti semitic event . and we're looking for a motive, all of which was absolute nonsense and a disgrace. today they said it is an anti semitic event. the jewish community was
10:38 am
targeted. now we knew from the beginning, according to all reports, he wanted this woman known as lady al qaeda, released from prison, a prison, just miles from where he went into the synagogue. that was his goal, but he chose a synagogue. he also, according to one of the congregations to follow the services on line. heard him say terrible things about israel, jews, and then pro palestinian rhetoric and cetera. so how they ever could have said it was an anti semitic, is the 1st place, the f b i standing there and saying that is beyond me, except the guy was wearing a mag ahead. if the guy was wearing a mag i had, you'd be hearing about this story page one, lead story all day, all week. now it's an after thought here and see here in new york, what's the reaction there like about the district attorney alvin brag? and his new policy to not think prison sentences for felonies and misdemeanors.
10:39 am
it's outrageous. nobody feels safe. they didn't feel safe before this clown came in . and now they really don't feel safe. i mean, that's it. the mayor came in and one because he said he would turn around what bill diblasio was not doing and re institute the undercover anti crime unit, police officers, et cetera. and now you've got this guy saying, go ahead do it. basically, we're not going to prosecute these people for most crimes. i don't know how he won . he won because nobody really votes, and this is a trend we're seeing all over the country. these kinds of prosecutors want to let criminals wrong free, and all the da's are leaving in his office. that's what he wants. so he could go get people from the legal aid society and put them in place, and he will have an office follow people thinking like him. it's a disaster. no, what do you? hello, so this policy will bring forth more incidents like the tragic one we saw in manhattan with a woman being pushed to death. you know, i think that's a, that's
10:40 am
a tough one to answer. but i do think that when you are not prosecuting, the smaller crimes, you do open the door for bigger crimes to happen if we're going to be talking about asian, hey, when you look at cities like new york city or san francisco, where there are a lot of asian populations there, when you're seeing all these smaller crimes that are going on like smashing grabs and what have you and very high in neighborhoods, we might add that also the same places that we're seeing a lot of asian hate being reported new york city in san francisco, so i don't, i don't think there's any way that you can decouple the to logically, if you don't crap down on the small crime, be greater crimes such as hate crimes where people are for example being pushed to their death from a subway platform. these things are going to happen, and one more thing i'll throw out there about that is, i think, because right now we're in the middle of a pandemic the 2nd year. and i think people's nerves are afraid. and this is
10:41 am
causing a lot of anger and hatred. towards one another for whether it's race or, or anything else. and i think a lot of people need to kind of take a 2nd. and remember that we're all going through this and you've got to keep your eyes and ears and widths about you. yeah, and i mean, steve brought up a really good point that people actually voted for a new york mayor who was a former police officer. and so when do you think this move from the new or da is also an injustice to the victim and her family? i could only imagine her family would be so offended by the da, just being basically soft on crime. i can't. we know that they're, they're going to prosecute this particular homeless man who did killed their daughter. but what does that do for all the other asian folks, if you're going to labor this, an asian hate crime as they're starting to do? what does that do to all the other people that have to survive,
10:42 am
the people that have been kicked in the head, you know, punched in the stomach flashed in the face. what does that say to those people and what does it say to the perpetrators that what they can get away with? yeah, it's really tough. thank you so much for your insight. you can catch manila every week, day on in questions starting at noon, eastern time, and steve, every friday at 630. thank you so much and coming up as a pandemic continues to wear on many a new studies suggest a cronum virus isn't all people are sick of politics is also importantly topping the list. we'll discuss with our $360.00 panel after the break. stay with what happened. i make no, certainly no borders on the slide to nationalities and

oh, from president donald trump speaking at an event in arizona that summer saying sounded much like a campaign speech. the former president blaming bite in for the current current of our situation. same hospitals are hating new record highs. trump also saying he ran twice and one twice, doing even better the 2nd time with 12000000 more votes. so we all knew that joe biden would be not so good, but few could have imagined that he would be such a disaster for this country. what they've done, inflation is the worst has been in 40 years. gas prices are up 50 percent. the grocery shelves, the department store shelves. they are empty. and for more on this and all things
10:45 am
politics, we turn to our 360 panel that's welcome. and robert patello, radio host and civil rights attorney and brock, lori, a federal and international attorney. thanks so much for joining us today. gentlemen. license, awesome. and so i just so much with you, what are your thoughts about from arizona rally over the weekend? do you think he's i in another presidential run very much like he's right on it. there will be they will in fact be pursuing this, this presidential run. i think you understand that people really rally behind it literally and figuratively. 12000000 more votes is told in your votes, when i, when he ran 2016 and he was a just the anti clinton to vote. and that was enough for me to vote for him and many others to vote for him. but at this point, there is a positive energy. he's considered the president that was so effective in my mind, the most effective president we've ever had. and certainly compared to biden, i think they miss him tremendously and he knows it and he wants to run. and robert,
10:46 am
what about you? do you think most republicans still support trump as they did during his presidency? i don't, i think we've seen we're seeing clear schism, and the republican party between the as the mag is call them the rhino link of the party, the traditional republicans, kinsley derby, list chaney wing. mitch mcconnell mitt romney types of republicans and then the mag window. the party, which are a little further out there to the far right. and i think if you look at what's going on with a credit party right now, you have so many negative stories with the body administration. lo hold up unable to feel much of the bill back better plan, i'm able to do voting rights. and just when you think things are going. busy their worst here, rights and pro, and try to remind everybody why president biting will do let, today, would turn to normal to not having name, not however, these wild and his reality reality. so really, the only thing that can really help me by demonstration right now is most urgent of

through may actually be president trump, we're merging to the national state. that's so interesting. and now, according to when you study from the university of nebraska, for in 10 people, site politics as a top stressor and their lives. so they study claims that politics is a reason that some are losing sleep, ruining their personal relationships, and even some reported suicidal feelings. in regard to politics to robert, do you think the study is being overly dramatic? or are people simply find out about the divisions among the left and right and even what you mentioned, divisions within their own parties? well, i think it's this shows what has happened to politics over the last 3030 is years has become completely calcified. there was a point in time where supreme court nominee would get approved 99 to nothing during the confirmation cabinet position were 9899 to nothing. you would actually have looked at the what the solution being able to move through. now we've gotten to a point where even the american people support something, my 607080 percent,
10:48 am
and poli you can, we get a vote on it on the senate floor where it seems the government's completely enable, ineffective in solving the problems of our country. and that's what so many people become disillusioned and checked out from the political system. and that causes this level stress. this'll angrily exist in the country, and i hope the somebody on either in front of the aisle can find out how to be a uniter, not a divider, to stop having a live in our own separate realities, asylum information, and try to bring the come together bracket i don't think that there's any truth to the study. no, i don't think there is a meaningful truth to it. people decide to be polarized or feel depressed for their own reasons. and politics. that's something they want to grab on to. that's their business, i suppose. but the reality is that biden is doing the divisions for the american country all by himself. i with the highly dubious election that happened in november 2020, very suspect in many ways. that, of course, the way you handle cove it in the mandates. and then there's a demand to ramrod,
10:49 am
this trillion dollar spending bill to stand up in the voting rights bill and all the crime situation and the inflation them for city, a supply chain issues. these are big deals and he's dividing the country so and then he claims that. so the countries divided well, i mean, he's only has himself to look at when trump was president. the sort of divisions didn't really exist to least from the economy point of view. people were very happy with what was going on. there was a massive increase in interest and conservatism and american economy. they probably, they grabbed on to whatever they could in terms of the tweets and his personality may trump, but that was not enough. this is far worse. i'd rather take the tweets any day of the week then to sac lation this supply chain issue that sorta cope a situation that he's not taking care of. and of course, all the mandate says opposing upon this. this is not the way to go. and i think that his divisions is only at his own doorstep. well, it's a grand point that yes,

we do have control over our own lives and we shan't necessarily blame it on, you know, politics at republicans in virginia, governor glenn young, can find 11 executive orders within hours of his inauguration on saturday. and one of those matters involved, critical race theory being taught and local schools. the new governor saying that he wanted to end what he called the device of concepts including critical race theory. robert, what is your take on that? all of those are part of what i mean, want to say, we don't live in a shared reality, wanting to talk to virginia about what they want done in education. bringing the digital divide, ensuring that students have access to up to the technology and information. and when it comes to schooling, ensuring that we live in rural areas to have broadband. so the children, if they do end up having to learn from home, have the same access to school students in big city cleaning the water or waterways of the state to insure it. if you're a hunter or fisherman that you will preserve regina for the future. what are republicans want to talk about? something does not even being taught in schools. they live in these alternative
10:51 am
reality, or actual problems are simply fantasy and they get to make up things to be upset about. and that's what many things as a group or whereabout, that's why. so even sign executive order on it because it doesn't do anything physical address and something that doesn't exist until we get that to we shared reality is one of the very difficult to have compromise them to have a couple of slates and needed. wow. it's real problems that america brock. do you think that the new governor is following what his constituents asked for or do you think he's any way out of line here? well, he's actually on in line with what he was teaching, but i, i wanna address robert to said, talk about fictions. i mean, on the one hand, you got to do this cove at this notion that everyone is going to be destroyed. if we don't have some sort of new intellect mandate and post upon us. and then of course, the global warming phenomenon, that somehow we're all going to die because we're all in charge of responsible for the, at the climate. and then that there is this massive white supremacy happening in this country, which it's not. so, you know, these are fictions,
10:52 am
these are the real fictions that are their lives stressing our country. the c r t that we're talking about is something that is being taught in many different states and it's a big concern. and individual teachers are teaching these and they're getting way with it. and this shouldn't be taught. this is an american agenda and it needs to stop. so that's why young can ran on this campaign and he won on this campaign and he's acting consistently with fighting this campaign campaign he did in fact run on that. some gentleman. unfortunately, i have time of patello and brock, laurie, we thank you so much. after galle maxwell has been sent, hans reports indicate she will no longer fight to keep those names of those involved in the scandals. private. this comes after a case against prince. andrew will move forward, is alleged victim has come out publicly and is also asking the names of at least 7 men. b. i'm a comment on that. you won't be silent.
10:53 am
i've been out outspoken. he knows what he has done and he can attest to that. so no word yet on. if those names will be reveal that decision will be made by the judge presiding over the case. and for more we bring in a j pallet guard managing attorney at palo gar law. thank you so much for coming on the show today. a j a sounding me. so now do these near reports surprising that maxwell will not fight to keep the names of these john doe's private or natasha really doesn't. at this point, i'm, since she's already been found guilty. my think what are you areas cooperate with. ringback prosecutor, to try to mitigate and now ha, as the case against prince andrew is now moving forward. there are also rumors that maxwell and the duke of york and dated at some point with this change. anything or just be another twist in this ongoing saga. you know, it's all,
10:54 am
it's all leading to the same proposition here and i think it would be incredibly interesting. yeah, potentially maxwell is called as a witness for the prosecutor against. exactly if that case does go proper 7th. well, i'm so the fact that she's trying to establish a relationship approximately with prince andrew clearly shows she's got a lot to gain by cooperating air. so i'm curious how it plays. i don't think prince andrew stacy is going to go to try. i think that's in the saddle. ultimately, he's got too much to lose, to walk down because too much to lose ominous and nobody's interests to litigate a civil case when you have such a high profile family out. i'm so miss maxwell, i don't think she has anything to lose by doing whatever she can to cooperate with the prosecutor in this case, to mitigate her sentences much. awesome. yeah,
10:55 am
interesting. and a former world protection officer said that maxwell entered and exit at the palace at will. so does this surprise you at all given the fact that she's, you know, willing to disclose and speak at this point. um, it just goes back again to their relationship. they did it, they had so you know, more for a connection between the 2 than the general public knows, or maybe even the, the prosecutor goes. and so on. the fact that she was, you know, walking into his loyal establishment. i'm had the, you know, ultimate access to the family, potentially through epstein could only bring in these other individuals. and i think it doesn't surprise me that she's cooperating any ass. and like i said she has not heard which isn't yeah. and it was reported last week that the 61 year old prince will be stripped of his royal and military titles. and this all comes as
10:56 am
other i'd tid, bits of information are coming out about him, including the allegation than he would when police scream, if maids messed up his teddy bear collection. do you think this kind of information is getting linked out to show a flaw in his character before the case could something like this? give the jury a preconceived notion about the duke of york. all this a great question um and again, we're still very far away from an actual civil trial there in prince andrew's case . and so, um, if it did get to that point, which i don't think it will, because if the hispanic litigation involved, i think that the jury selection process is going to weed out any of those prospective jurors that have any biases or pre conceived notions against prince andrew, that's going to be the java code, the prosecutor and the defense. they want to pick the winning jury for each side.
10:57 am
and in a case like this, because it's so high profile as, as it is with any high profile case. the jury selection process is going to be the most important thing to eliminate any of these preconceived ideas against prince andrew, a war against the prosecution for going after prince andrew. and that process is going to last a long time. again. i don't think it's going to go that far, given the fact that there's too much at stake here for the roll family. but if he did it, there's going to be a lot of scrutiny over the jury selection process. and that's going to weed out all the bad eggs that have any preconceived notions against prince andrew. sure. so you really see them settling and that doesn't make them appear to be admitting fault at all. if they do settle. yeah, well i think it's going to be a confidential out of court settlement because in a civil case you can, you can do that. you know, it's not about punishment. it's not about going to jail, is not about going to president. oh, going, getting on probation will facing any sort of criminal prosecution. it's more about
10:58 am
money. and i do see that this case potentially settling out of court with some sort of confidentiality agreement. so the media just has no idea or doesn't get wind if what really happened with the settlement. because a full blown trial is going to leak out a lot of information about the royal family. and i don't see how that is going to be beneficial in a case why you thought the defendant involved. yeah. make sense? ain't a power guard. thank you so much for your time. well, we are out of time for news 247. be sure to download the portable to the app where you can keep up with current and past episode. thank you so much for my team and have a great a
