asian community where there has been a staggering 361 percent increase. a $129.00 incidence so far this year versus the 28 last year. just last week. a homeless man shopped an asian woman to were death in front of an oncoming subway. train in new york city time square station. i. why when dad rise and hate crime is yet another crisis, officials are trying to battle amid the corona virus pandemic. i'll recovery is dependent on the public safety in this city. and in the subway system. we can do that with the right balance, a balance of safety and a balance of pro, actively giving people the assistance they need when they moved to health crisis. but as long foresman officials try to combat the surgeon crime amid the corona virus pandemic, manhattan district attorney alvin gregg is he mast resignations from his prosecutors over his soft on crime policies. according to an internal memo obtained

by the new york post, bragg ordered his prosecutors to stop seeking prison sentences for hordes of criminals and to downgrade felony charges and cases, including armed robberies and drug dealing. at least a dozen lawyers have quit within 2 weeks of his term. under brag, soft on crime approach. robberies are directed to be persecuted as petty larceny. if no victim was wounded and there is no risk of physical harm while prostitution, turnstile jumping weapons and marijuana possession won't be prosecuted at all. i reached out to the attorney general's office for reaction to the growing criticism surrounding his new approach and have not yet heard back in new york trinity sharp as r t. for more on the story we bring in manila chan, host of r t americas in question, and steve miles burg host of r t c at the present. thanks so much for coming on the show today. we got it. thanks latasha. so manella, let's start with you. what we saw in trinity story was absolutely heartbreaking. do

you think the actions stem from what so many are calling asian hate? or is it just hate for other people in general? well, you know, i think that tasha, that, that while this incident at the new york city subway platform, i think this one was more of a case of a mental health issue. and i think that is the stark problem that we're seeing in a lot of these big cities across the us that do happen to be democrat lead. i think a lot of resources are not being placed where they need to go in places like this, where you just saw that man who was allegedly a homeless person with mental health issues shouting at the press. i don't believe that particular case was a, a case of asian hate, although yes, there is an unprecedented numbers of asian hate crimes going through the roof all over these big cities. this one in particular though, i wouldn't say was an example of that, but is a stark example of a lot of democrat cities, not enough money and funding into the homeless crisis and the mental health issue

that's happening across this country. yeah, both are so extremely unfortunate. and now over the weekend, there was a frightening hosted situation at a texas synagogue. so for hostages or imported safe and their captors, dad, after a long stand off that began during services at congregation, beth israel and collinsville, texas. let's take a listen to what the israeli prime minister and president biden had to say. this event is a stark reminder that the dark forces of anti semitism still exist. we must, and we will fight it. this was an act of terror. is an act of terror not only was related to someone who had been arrested, am i that 15 years? you know, i'm been in jail for 10 years. so steve, what is your take on the situation summer saying that the shooter was reportedly muslim. do you think this was an attack on jewish beliefs or something deeper?

no, from what we've heard in while he was, he was trying to. okay. first the f. b, i came out after the attacker was killed in the hostages were released and said that he was not targeting the jewish community. this was not an anti semitic event, and were looking for a motive, all of which was absolute nonsense and a disgrace. today they said it is an anti semitic event. the jewish community was targeted. now we knew from the beginning, according to all reports, he wanted this woman known as lady al qaeda, released from prison, a prison, just miles from where he went into the synagogue. that was his goal, but he chose a synagogue. he also, according to one of the congregations to follow the services on line. heard him say terrible things about israel, jews, and then pro palestinian rhetoric, et cetera. so how they ever could have said it was an anti semitic,

is the 1st place, the f b i standing there and saying that is beyond me, except the guy was wearing a mag ahead. if the guy was wearing a mag that you'd be hearing about this story, page one lead story all day, all week. now it's an after thought. sure. and steve, you're in new york, what's the reaction there like about the district attorney alvin brag? and his new policy to not seen prison sentences for felonies and misdemeanors. it's outrageous. nobody feels safe. they didn't feel safe before this clown came in. and now they really don't feel safe. i mean, that's it. the mayor came in and was because he said he would turn around what bill diblasio was not doing and re institute the undercover anti crime unit, police officers, et cetera. and now you've got this guy saying, go ahead do it. basically, we're not going to prosecute these people for most crimes. i don't know how we won one because nobody really votes, and this is

a trend we're seeing all over the country. these kinds of prosecutors to want to let criminals wrong free and all the da's are leaving in his office. that's what he wants. so he could go get people from the legal aid society and put them in place. and you'll have an office full of people thinking like him, it's a disaster. manila, do you feel as though this new policy would bring forth more incidents like the tragic one we sell in manhattan with the women being pushed toward death? i think that's a, that's a tough one to answer. but i do think that when you are not prosecuting, the smaller crimes, you do open the door for bigger crimes to happen. and if we're going to be talking about asian, hey, when you look at cities like new york city or san francisco, where there are a lot of asian populations there. when you're seeing all these smaller crimes that are going on like smashing grabs, and what have you and very high end neighborhoods, we might add that's also the same places that we're seeing a lot of asian, hey,

report in new york city and san francisco. so i don't, i don't think there's any way that you can decouple the to logically, if you don't crap down on the small crimes, these greater crimes, such as hate crimes, where people are, for example being pushed to their death from a subway platform. these things are going to happen, and one more thing i'll throw out there about that is, i think, because right now we're in the middle of a pandemic. the 2nd year in i think people's nerves are afraid. and this is causing a lot of anger and hatred. towards one another for whether it's race or, or anything else. and i think a lot of people need to kind of take a 2nd. and remember that we're all going through this and that you got to keep your eyes and ears and wits about you. yeah, and i mean, steve brought up a really good point that people actually voted for a new york mayor who was a former police officer. and so what do you think this move from the new york da is also an injustice to the victim and her family? i could only imagine her family would be so offended by the da,

i don't think there is a meaningful truth to it. people decide to be polarized or feel depressed for their own reasons and politics that somebody they want to grab on to. that's their business. i suppose, but the reality is that biden is doing the divisions for the american country all by himself. i would highly dubious election that happened in november 2020, very suspect in many ways. that, of course, the way you handle cove it in the mandates. and then there's a demand to ramrod, this trillion dollar spending bill to stand up in the voting rights bill and all the crime situation and the inflation them worse, the supply chain issues. these are big deals and he's dividing the country so and then he claims that the countries divided. well, i mean, he's only has himself to look at when trump was president, the sort of divisions didn't really exist, at least from the economy point of view. people were very happy with what was going on. there was a massive increase in interest and conservatism and american economy. they probably they grab on to whatever they could in terms of the tweets and his personality may

trump. but that was not enough. this is far worse, i'd rather take the tweets any day of the week than stagflation, this supply chain issue, that sort of cobra situation that he's not taking care of. and of course, all the mandate that it's opposing upon this, this is, this is not the way to go. and i think that his divisions is only at his own doorstep. well, it's a great point that yes, we do have control over our own lives and we shan't necessarily blame it on, you know, politics at republicans in virginia, governor glen young, can find 11 executive orders within hours of his inauguration on saturday. and one of those matters involved critical race theory being taught and local schools. the new governor saying that he wanted. ringback to end what he called the vice of concepts including critical race theory. robert, what is your take on that? oh, there's a part of what i mean when i say we don't live in a shared reality. wanting to talk to virginia about what they want done in education. bringing the digital divide,

there in prince andrew's case. and so, um, if it did get to that point, which i don't think it will, because if the hispanic litigation involved, i think that the jury selection process is gonna weed out any of those prospective jurors that have any biases or pre conceived notions against prince andrew there's going to be the java code, the prosecutor and the defense, they want to pick the winning jury for each side. and in a case like this, because it's so high profile as, as it is with any high profile case. the jury selection process is going to be the most important thing to eliminate any of these preconceived ideas against on prince andrew or against the prosecution for going after prince andrew. and now process is going to last a long time. again, i don't think it's going to go that far, given the fact that there's too much at stake here for the role family. but if he did it, there's going to be a lot of scrutiny over the jury selection process. and that's going to weed out all

the bad eggs that have any preconceived notions against prince andrew. sure. so you really see them saddling, and that doesn't make them appear to be admitting fault at all. if they do saddle yellow, i think it's going to be a confidential out of court settlement because in a civil case you can, you can do that. you know, it's not about punishment. it's not about going to jail, is not about going to prison. oh, going, getting on probation. well, facing any sort of criminal prosecution. it's more about money. and, and i do see that this case potentially settling out of court with some sort of confidentiality agreement. so the media just has no idea or doesn't get wind of what really happened with the settlement on because a full blown trial is going to leak out a lot of information about the role of family and that i don't see how that is going to be beneficial in a case where you thought the defendant involved yeah. make sense and a pallet, gar. thank you so much for your time. while we are out of time for news. 247. be
