through the this weekend, the candidates prime minister is reportedly rushed to a safe and vaccination site has more than 10000 truckers and their supporters flood parliament hill can opposition to vaccine mandates with russia. the usual suspect behind the mass movement with the other stories that shape the weak ukraine dominated both the headlines and the minds of nato states, with leaf alarms and munition and military equipment handed over to kia while the u . s. and you can prepare to send troops to europe, but not all new members agree to weaponized ukraine. germany was slammed by allies for blocking. we're going against the block line, while some spanish opposition parties say that it's not their country's border wage

. spain has no police in this conflict. we are not interested in any worse. all this is a pro cation of the united states and nato in an attempt to reshape the world's order, in which they are lose and influence. the broadcasting live direct from us studios and moscow. this is our to international, sean thomas certainly glad to have you with us. as we recap the week stop story. now canadian prime minister just in the trudeau has reportedly been rushed to a secret secure location for protection. as more than 10000 truckers and their freedom convoy, supporters defend on parliament hill in the capital over the nation national food supply crisis. after drivers were told no job, no job, crowds and vehicles have been blocking t roads around the parliament building. those protesters rave, extreme cold warnings to vent their opposition to vaccine mandate and other

pandemic restrictions. here's a quick look and how the protests have unfolded. it's not about the vaccine itself. it's about the man and the freedom to choose. that is what these ordinary hardworking canadians are here for. they want to, they want their freedoms from store, ah, the small fringe minority of people who are on their way to ottawa for holding unacceptable views that they are expressing do not represent the views of canadians who have been there for each other. ah, society itself is overtaken by fear. this voice is although freed up,
7:03 pm
it's not only with a truck drivers, it's actually for every single person you, me, buddy, down the road. it doesn't matter. it's all about your choice. mm . meanwhile, the country's top lawmakers are trying to demonize the rallies with trudeau himself, branding them unacceptable, along with the public safety chief dubbing demonstrators extremists. and in a repeat of practically every big north american political story in recent years with 0 evidence candidates, top state broadcast claims, russia fueled and even started the entire mass public movements concerns that russian actors could be continuing to fuel things. as this, as this protest grows, but perhaps even instigating it from from the outset or less cross live to canadian political commentator, and archie contributor lauren chin. lauren, thanks for being with us here to try and unravel of this all of your their trudeau
7:04 pm
has gone from praising truckers for working day and night to reportedly fleeing the capital to hide from them as thousands protest. what's your opinion? well, just to clarify, currently i'm not in canada, and personally i would have loved to have been there i just recently left last week . but as someone who has been through all of the mandates that canadians have seen and including being barred from planes, trains and boats for the longest time, i think a month now because of my vaccination status, i think this protest is a long time coming. i am very glad that you included a clip of one of the participants, saying that this is not about the vaccine itself. this is about the mandate. the canadian government has tried to implement some of the strictest in the world are right now. if you are not vaccinated, as i mentioned, you cannot travel by plane train, or ferry that includes just even domestically. there is a federal mandate for a federal employees, as well as health care workers. there have just been many times that the canadian
7:05 pm
government has told its people that they do not respect their freedom of choice. and frankly, this is, this is past due for canadians. we are generally not people to protest or be louder, make our voices heard. we are very polite as the stereotype goes, but i think you can only push people so far and that is exactly what you're seeing on the streets of auto right now. one thing i'm noticing not just in canada, but around the world as you will many people, many people are opposed to being mandated to take a vaccine. what do you think this is the case? well, i think it just speaks to the fact that the government is coercing you to do something that you may or may not want to do. and to be clear, canada is one of the most vaccinated countries on the planet. the vast majority of canadians who are eligible have received both those to so this is not a question of canadians denying science or wanting to put each other's hell their wrists. or however opponents might want to spin it. the canadian people have done more than their fair share, trying to ward off the the effects of coven 19. but i think it's
7:06 pm
a very different story when you tell someone that regardless of their medical status, what, what afflictions they might personally be experiencing unless they submit, they will not be able to go to a restaurant. you know, they will not be able to travel. they will not be able to visit their loved ones and hospitals, all of which are restrictions that we have seen in canada. it's very dystopian. and, and frankly, unfortunately, the overstepping that we've seen from the canadian government, you know, canada has a charter of rights and freedoms. we have courts who are meant to put this, put a stop to infringements like this, but sadly, they have failed to act. and so that is why i think a lot of people feel that they need to take matters into their own hands, which is why we're seeing the civil disobedience. we touched on this in terms of the percentage of canadians who are vaccinated around 90 percent of canada's 120000 cross border truckers are vaccinate. right. is that enough? why is the government pushing this mandate in this case?
7:07 pm
well that's what's really strange. i think if we look globally, we see that the countries that have the strictest mandates, the strictest penalties for not being vaccinated, they are over all the countries that tend to be more vaccinated. so this is really not about, i think, trying to get back the nation number is up. as you mentioned there, there are plenty high already high enough to reach her immunity, at least that's what we were told previously. i think this is about control. this is about trying to get people to submit to the government's women. that is exactly why people are taking a stand. i think, you know, canadians have complied when it has made sense to do so. from a public health perspective. before a lot of these mandates that are coming in frankly, it just does not make sense to say we're taking away your freedoms in order to protect someone's health. when the science does not back this up. don't forget that the vaccine restrictions of who can travel were in place when oma cron hit canada. clearly those did not do anything to stop the spread. and so i think at this point, a lot of canadians are just looking at what the science says and what the past 2
7:08 pm
years have shown us. and they're saying, all right, well, you know, civil liberties aside which are being infringed upon, even from a scientific standpoint. this just is not making sense. and we heard r t, we stick with the general guidelines of the world health organization, which by the way, health experts around the globe including the world health organization, say vaccinations are the most practical way to prevent the disease from spreading. but obviously, many people are protesting against the mandates was for savannah. that's more gives the government and other restrictions. when do you think governments of and can end these whole measurements in these whole like medicine the whole thing, like when can government actually take a step back and say, all right, let's get back to doing our job now. well, i think they could, they could end them at any time that they want. don't forget i, these are measure that largely have been place put in place by the executive that trudeau government without going through parliament. there really is nothing stopping them from simply removing them. and i think we have seen that there are
7:09 pm
areas of the world, particularly in the united states, certain states like florida and texas that have opened completely. and again, this is not to say that anyone is anti vaccine. we're talking about the efficacy of mandates, of penalties on those who are not vaccinated. we have not seen huge upticks in cases that have that are not comparable to places that are very strict. for example, new york, and kept back some of the strictest places in regards to a vaccine passports. and yet both of them were overtaken by o mccrendon. and so we see again, this is questioning the efficacy not of vaccines themselves, but it's just is it worth it trying to deprive your citizens other similarities? when there doesn't seem to be a measurable difference in the outcome, the true government today could decide to go reverse a lot of these mandates. but unfortunately, not only have we not seen him address the protests since they've arrived in auto beforehand. we have also seen him smear them, a jug meet seeing who is the leader of the n d p. one of canada's largest opposition parties. he has
7:10 pm
a flat out accuse many in the protests of being racist. and as i'm a phobic without any, any evidence to support that overall, just been a disappointing response from canada's political class. a joke about this at the very beginning about how polite canadians are. it's a stereotype that in the american side they talk about a lot, but um, canada has gone from being a haven of tolerance to having some of the strictest covered measures in the entire world. does that were you? it worries me very much so and i think the, the canadian tolerance that we are so famous for, i'm very proud of, i think, rightly so, after certain point, it can almost kind of become too much to the point where you are tolerating things that should not be tolerated, namely the government infringing upon your medical freedoms and your ability to choose what medical procedures you do or do not take. and, you know, even within, within their protests, i want to point out that canadians in auto have been very respectful,
7:11 pm
very peaceful there have been, you know, certain individuals with, with flags that have main international headlines. and really, it's just one person out of over 10000 like you mentioned before. so i just, i want to make very clear that this is, this protest is not about canadians failing to be tolerant. it's just about putting boundaries in place of what, what is and is not acceptable for your government to mandate that you do in order to, for example, continue or your livelihood be able to travel freely and such, all of which should be guaranteed by the charter of rights and freedoms. i have to ask because we are g as we're talking on this set of airways right now. are you surprised that canada's top state broadcast her says russia is somehow behind the trucker protest? and do you think i am absolutely not surprised? i mean, i was disappointed, but at the same time, not surprised to see this, don't forget c, b, c, a, it is state brought is the state broadcast, or they receive a lot of money from the trudeau government. and what we've seen throughout the
7:12 pm
pandemic, specifically, is them really towing the line. i'm supporting any and all restrictions the true government has put in place. they have been very, very pro, mandate from the start. and i think that is something that honestly, if, if i'm being if i'm being candid, has likely come from the trudeau government in terms of instructions. and so i, i feel like this whole russian scare is, is merely something to try to detract from the protest to make it seem like these are not canadians who are part of this movement. which, when you, i mean, you look at the ground and ottawa, i don't think russia managed to sneak 10000 protesters across the border. it's frankly insulting as well to the canadians who are on the ground, who are putting their money where their mouse are, who are putting their livelihoods on the line, potentially in order to stand up for what they believe and to then turn around and say, oh, but it's, it's probably russia for reason that i also want to point out that there's actually no substantiating evidence that the see me see provided to go along with this allegation. and it's purely here say, now, lauren,
7:13 pm
i know that getting home is going to be wonderful feeling when you can finally get there. but when you're in nashville, tennessee, there's some good barbecue for you there. so try and get some while you're in the states. all right. oh absolutely. the barbecue, the fried chicken, we are all on top. right. lauren and canadian political commentator and arch contributor, thanks. thank you. or let's it now cross live to canadian activists. chris elson right now outside of the parliament in ottawa. thanks for being with us here in our international. can you tell us 1st to describe the situation? what's the overall mood among the protesters there? oh, it's all, it's beautiful. everyone is completely peaceful. i know the canadian media and our government are trying to say that there are violent people here, but it's all completely peaceful. i will completely jammed up, but there is a very long week president, and i think from all over on the very will be here. but there been no trouble at
7:14 pm
all right now we've got going on. we've got all the semi truck and talk to their horns and everyone's just having a good. all right, good times aside. there has to be a reason why you're all together. what are the protesters demanding exactly, and how long do you expect them to continue demonstrating? so the truckers are demanding and i'm all mandate and they are going to say here, as long as they need to know the government finally let. because this country doesn't belong to rudolph, i'm pretty belong to the people and the people here in canada, how about enough of a b c? i do, i think it is related to gender ideology, specifically it's getting ready blockers. so i just go to wherever they're going to move until the mandate their god data and we, i think we have to tell people that there are, this is live television. so we have to put up with some of the people who are
7:15 pm
trying to disrupt the broadcast, but i have to push back a little bit because as the pandemic is still ongoing, with a 5th wave having emerged around the globe. vaccines appear crucial for protecting people and governments do have this responsibilities that find balancing act, isn't it? of protecting the people and giving them their freedoms. so won't the abandonment of restrictions do more harm than good? of course we need to protect multiple no vulnerable people in our society, but this back being developed, right? the original grain, very ineffective against salma gone back, native people still get sick or miss. there's no friends meeting the virus, so it doesn't really make sense to require everyone. when it's not doing anything to prevent the spread, any suckers aren't the ones that are reading the virus. they drive the truck alone and all the food, all of the everything that they deliver it inside. right. so this way,
7:16 pm
by the government it's definitely about the population and we think we had enough. now, you touched on this a little bit before, but have you seen any violence at the protests? any classes with police? nothing whatsoever, not even quote. and you know, normally with the sort of thing they thought it might be the problem or the weight and i live in, i hear the going on all day long. i was out here late last night. i'm going to be out here late again tonight. there hasn't been one single sign or anything violent whatsoever. and if there was anyone who is brian paid violence would be shut down immediately because no one else here is in the back. all right, now talk to me about the inspiration, what has gotten so many people to take to the streets and make this such a big event? well, geographically it's a bit difficult for canadian, but on i do. because of our country so dispersed when the government in this new
7:17 pm
mandate were firing corporate america off the border warranty for 40 days, they simply had enough. and it was just the graphic movement that started off as an idea and all the cupboards mobile ever gotten on board. so the boys started in british columbia joined by tucker and berta, and promote canada, even from the maritime provinces. they all joined here in ottawa, there's been a fundraiser on me that raised over $8000000.00 so far. so the doctor and we'll be able to keep raising money for as long as we need to because they simply are going to leave. and there's nothing, nothing that government can do because we have a legal right to protect until they left when they're going to keep the city of ottawa down. all right, chris elton, the canadian activist. interesting to hear your thoughts and of course the world will be watching as this plays out. thanks for being with us on our international. thank you so much. the. all right,
7:18 pm
moving on the week saw nato countries pouring weapons and military equipment into ukraine. britons has announced what it called its biggest possible offer to nato, a major military deployment to eastern europe. now the u. k. then following a similar line to washington with president biden pledging to send more american troops to the region in the near future, the pentagon had already put 8500 soldiers on standby for possible deployment all that to deter russia. but now even kit is urging call, instead of panic, claiming it won't be attacked, despite repeated warnings to the contrary from us. all we're moving us to so you are for the nato countries. in the near term, these would be additional brigade combat teams with just dick's personnel, medical support, a variation support intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, as well as transportation. and maybe even some additional capabilities after that
7:19 pm
that you know, a lot of such power, militarism appears in the media and i asked to reduce the intensity that exist today. little the situation is quite clear to us. there is no reason for us to panic. no grounds for searching and full scale of dreams. our country is even physically impossible to achieve or not, some of them, not all nato members are united and weaponized in ukraine, though germany is refusing to send arms and has also ruled out evacuating its embassy. they're saying such a move would only add to the tensions berlin also doesn't believe that there's any immediate sign of ukraine joining the nato alliance. everyone knows that this is not on the agenda at the momentum clinton, russia, the people of ukraine want to live in peace and security. many have been separated from their families for years due to the conflict in the dumbass. that's what the matter is about. not in an attempt trained to nato was laughing mitten in ohio. that war is looming right now in the middle of europe. smart doing everything we can to prevent a military escalation of the situation. of course, we do not deliver weapons to ukraine,
7:20 pm
is about keeping the peace lasting peace order in europe would not work without russia, but only with russia in ohio. cracks have also emerged inside another nato members that has already said 2 navy vessels to the black sea. spain has pledged its full support to the block, but some in the opposition are not in favor of the move. no. so local more. we as one of the signatories of this manifest so and the bulk of those who made the formation of the current government possible. believe that firstly, spain has no place in this conflict. we are not interested in any wars. all this is the pro cation of the united states and nato, in an attempt to reshape the world order in which they are lose an influence. the us openly meets. this is very important for its national security. so the u. s. and they to are escalating tensions. the united states and nato want on the one hand to control europe and on the other latin american literally crushing everyone who
7:21 pm
questions the hegemony of the united states and the united states and lay to want to direct the resources of control europe and lead in america to attack those whom they consider their main threat in this whole story. neither spain or the e. u has any row our troops should not become cannon fodder for this most enormous machine of genocide in history for nato vienna. on friday, russia's top diplomat spelled out clearly that the country does not want war, but it can't allow its interests to be ignored. foreign minister sergey lab rob shared his thoughts during a 90 minute interview to russian media. history of the so if it's up to russia, there will be no war. we don't want any wars, but ignoring our interest is not something we can allow either. americans are trying to create a hysteria of the escalation around ukraine, burrell and blink, and repeating it to some kind of a mantra. they say we hope that raja is going to choose the path of diplomacy and i
7:22 pm
can tell you that is something we've always stuck to since soviet times. and the outcomes of this diplomacy include the eastern bull and astronaut declarations, stipulating that no one is going to strengthen their security at the expense of others. this is the embodiment of diplomacy. i need mobil power proposals to nato might seem exceptional, only if the experts who assist these proposals assume that the americans have already taken everything around. so why bother put up with that? confine yourself to the bare minimum, but we want them to work with us with honesty. the day before yesterday we received their response and obfuscate things as the west is prone to do. but still there are some responses to our basic questions. in particular, with regards to intermediate and short range missiles, we also offered to withdraw military exercises further from the border on both sides. there were other measures on de escalation that were ignored for several years. but now nater seems to be willing to talk about that. it's only something
7:23 pm
presentable. the president has already given an answer to that. if our attempts to agree on mutually acceptable principles of ensuring euro atlantic security fail, we're going to take measures in response with regard to what kind of measures he said that they can be different and will be based on the information provided by our military. if they insist that they would not change their position, we will not do it either because their position is based on distortion of facts. and our position is based on what everyone's put their signature on. i don't see the grounds for reaching the compromise here because they are the still seeing the previous decisions that were commonly adopted. virginia, so as for the sanctions, when our president spoke, in particular, we told the americans that the package of sanctions, including russia's disconnection from the financial systems, controlled by the west, would be equivalent to the severance of diplomatic ties. we gave a clear message and i think they understand it. i don't think it serves anybody's
7:24 pm
interests. the ones watertight relationship between the u. s. the mainstream media and kia came into question in the week after cnn deleted ben reinstated an article alleging that the ukranian president told joe biden that america was over playing the imminent russian invasion cart or cheese sauce. taylor comments also update us on ukrainian president had a phone conversation and the media reported the biden was warning the well, the brink of wild wall, 3 pitches waiting for the ground to free in february. and that he'll give the signal for an invasion. let us keep his part was trying to calm his us counterpart down by stating that it's all still big us. it seemed then that the 2 leaders was very much at all a call between us president joe biden and ukrainian president. follow them or is it wednesday on thursday? did not go well. a senior ukrainian official told cnn amid disagreements over the risk levels of a russian attack. so lensky urge his american counterpart to calm down the
7:25 pm
messaging, boarding of the economic impact of panic. according to the official, he also said ukrainian intelligence sees the threat differently. so it quickly thought later that on top of all the other disagreements within the e. u. a. nato. now, even washington and kia, who off, quite literally brought this in onto on the same page. but then something happened less than an hour and a half off to the cnn article broke. it just disappeared. there was no trace any more bite and whipping up his theory about him in a wall and the landscape telling him to come down on its pace. what a pit? well, a few of tweets from cnn people on farther afield about how the white house disputes, how the call wasn't success. in fact, it was all just one big lie. whitehouse on biden's lensky call. anonymous sources are leaking falsehoods. president biden said that there is a distinct possibility that the russians could invade ukraine in february,
7:26 pm
reports of anything more different than that, are completely false, and hot on the heels. he also came out claiming that the original article was riddled with mistakes. dear colleagues, some reports regarding the content of the talks between presidents villa dimmer zelinski and joe biden have appeared on social media. citing the alleged senior ukrainian official. these messages are completely false. so to put it simply, we had an article, citing a senior ukrainian official. now the articles disappeared in a whole army, both in the ukraine and state side out, doing damage control. what happened behind the scenes? it's still a mystery font, understandably, there are lots of questions and what suspicions? why such a shot? 180 who gave the order for the story to be taken down. and so probably not a surprise. biden's critics are calling the transparency. what they want is a transcript of the phone call. will someone ask press secretary if the white house will release the transcript? when will you release the transcript?
7:27 pm
what exactly was said in the hour and 20 minute chat between bites and ansolaski is still unclear. what did dynamic between them to lead to says it's still unclear. is it indeed true that zalinski was the one telling biden to tone down the hysteria that are a lot of questions that also seems to be the sense that at best this was poor on verify journalism. and it was, if we're being re cynical, that was something in that article that someone really didn't want to come out. and other developments in the week gone by amid the current shimmering tensions. russia has agreed to move planted naval drills further from the coast of ireland after the irish government and efficient communities, expressed concerned about potential damage that the exercises could caused furio in response to the request and minister of defense of the russian federation. take a chicago has made a decision as a gesture of goodwill to relocate the exercises,
7:28 pm
but the russian navy plans for february 3rd to february, 8th as side the irish exclusive economic zone. with the aim not to hinder fishing activities by irish vessels in the traditional fishing areas, moscow just announced that it will move its naval drill, scheduled for next week, which were originally set to take place in international waters just about 150 miles off the coast of ireland, now that's after irish fishing authorities said that moscow was well within its rights to carry out these plans, but it would disrupt fishing activities in the area. so they asked if they could be relocated. we also heard from the iris, foreign minister, who pointed to the recent tensions around the conflict in ukraine, russia and the international law of the sea can of course, undertake military exercises in international waters. this isn't the time to increase military activity and tension in the context of what's happening with ukraine at the moment. now, as the iris foreign minister pointed outright there, there's nothing illegal about russia carrying out military drills in international
7:29 pm
waters. something that's been in the works for quite a while now, but moscow sees the decision as a gesture of good will, considering the fact that the western media has been hyping up, claims accusing russia of planning to invade ukraine for months now. and that diplomacy has been facing, set back after set back concerning this issue. so while tensions do remain high, at least ireland and russia can see i die here in about 30 minutes. that's when i will be back with another look at your weekly stay with us or to tradition. ah, ah ah
7:30 pm
. mm. so what we've got to do is identify the threats that we have. it's crazy confrontation, let it be an arms race is on offense. very dramatic development. only nationally, i'm going to resist. i don't see how that strategy will be successful, very difficult time. time to sit down and talk. oh, wife isn't ever a pca. there's always gonna be hard. nance take them and stride. my kids were openly adopted. so i don't get to see them.
