while pensions remain high over ukraine, one thing as abundant, we've been made, clear russia and nato have fundamentally different ideas about paying new york in security. and neither side appears to be in the mood to compromise. this why the propaganda war is reaching new heights has a 1st amendment adjust, been notified by the department of homeland security for the issuing of a bulletin of heightened terrorism labeling. anyone who just trust the united states government as tara, or anti the potential punishment, which might away those who dare question the actions of this administration. and does it mean those who are calling for a freedom convoy to begin here in the united states might be the 1st to be labeled tear it by this new policy. we're going to bring you the latest from the events on the ground in canada, with the freedom con boy as support in the state. continue to build amongst us
8:31 pm
trucker. and the bill is being introduced to stop all a to secure the border of ukraine. until the border of the united states is secured itself, but will be more than just a p. r. move to bring a tension to the continued influx of illegal migrants across the southern border. we're going to discuss, meanwhile, as the number of those already in the united states to call the 3, their home continued to increase one major city, encouraging it citizens to help how's the homeless by inviting them in their own homes to say, will there be a new trend of government suggested housing in private residence. i'm no huge and these are just a few of the stories. plus chris cuomo is playing the victim card in regards to dismissal from cnet. and he once we compensated for his trouble, but does he deserve it? well, that is the $60000000.00 question we will investigate on today's news views. huge here on our t, like just started the,
8:32 pm
the who's thanks for joining us. you know, in what looks to be a move, even more dramatic regarding the power grab of american citizens rights than even the patriot act. the department of homeland security has issued a bulletin of heightened terrorism alert warning. and this is the proliferation of false or misleading narratives which so discord or undermine public trust in us government institutions. now d h s a warned against a threat actors who want to exaggerate societal friction dish, so discord and undermine public trust and government institutions. to encourage and rest and potentially inspire acts of violence. this bulletin, however, does have an expiration date of june 7th, but who exactly is d h s talking about? and what does this mean for the future of freedom of speech?
8:33 pm
want to bring in ben swan investigators about this been that has gone kind of under the radar. not many people have looked at this. that's why i knew that you and i needed to. i'm curious as you read this bulletin. what do you think the goal of it is and who exactly? is it going to affect well yeah, i think it's going to affect anybody out there who wow, according to this bulletin, distrust the government and anyone who distrust their government or shares, ideas that might make others distrust their government, is considered a terrorist threat that the language is so over the top's got it so beyond the pale that you have to sit back and say, there must be something specific that's being pointed to here. you said in the lead up here right now, there is a, a massive freedom convoy that has shut down ottawa, canada, and i believe the right now there is a huge movement to get one. he started here in the united states. i know that is actually underway. right now, and we're going to see it will happen very soon,
8:34 pm
and i will tell you that if and when that does happen, that will be seen as a huge threat to those who were in power in this country for various reasons. one because you have obviously washington d. c. that would be the target of a shut down in the streets. number 2, you would have truckers who would be on the roads, therefore they're not taking an already strained supply chain set of goods to their stores. instead, they'll be headed to washington dc, and number 3, it brings democracy back to the consent of the governed. and so when you see that this language we use right now that anyone who is helping to so discord and a lack of trust in the government as being a terroristic threat, that only goes until june, you have to believe there is something about to happen that the government is very afraid of right now and that these spook agencies idea as you know, the in a say the api cia that they're worried about. what i think they're worried about more than anything. is the voice of the people being restored to the people. well, and then that's what scares me the most when i read, that's why i think we need
8:35 pm
a pest spotlight on it. because you look at whether you're talking about social media, where they're talking about you to whether time, anything on internet or even talk. that's going on the churches, i don't care political party the both right now people are questioning what is going on because a lot of for very confused by the messaging that's being put out by this administration. you said that you think there's an expiration date on it because it shows something big is about to happen. but i want to know what happens. is there any sort of punishment d h is, is a very serious. well it is a fear mongering is part of the government. do we know yet what happens to those just feels is in violation? well here's the thing, we don't know. so what we do know about the folks who were there on january 6, not people who necessarily destroyed property, just people who were around the capital. in some cases, people who never even entered the capital. we know that. b a law enforcement has a rest of those people and held them in solitary confinement. is that what we're
8:36 pm
talking about here is what we're talking about here is that the forms of the patriot act in this new so called domestic patriot act as being put into practice. even though it hasn't been passed into law in this country. is that going to be pointed that people directed at people who were seen to be a terroristic threat? i got to say, got it. i mean, this is a scary to say on your show because we're here on national television. but what i be considered a terrorist under this, i mean i question our government all the time. it's what i do as a journalist, i believe that my job requires me to question those who are in power. and in many cases, i distrust not because there are democrat or their republican, but because they have power and i distrust people who have power to do the right thing with it. that's what journalists are supposed to do in holding people who are in power accountable. so if that is the case under this very loose, very vague definition, would i be considered a terrorist by the department of homeland security? and if the answer to that question is yes, the next question to what you just asked. and what does that mean?
8:37 pm
what is the consequence of that? that is a terrifying idea and it's not outlined in this bulletin. so it's very vague without a punishment. and this is what the consequence is gonna be. and you look at those that are being held on january 6, still in trial. what a year at a tiers last year, one year later. and they have not actually been formally charged yet anything you give them a little and to they take. this is why people question have doesn't the government? but here's the bigger question is, how does this not conflict with the 1st amendment? you're right in your job as a journalist is to ask questions. that is the, the right, not only the journalist, but it's every citizen of the united states that was given to us. we have the freedom of speech. how is this actually not in conflict with it? toys, absolutely. in conflict with it, it is in conflict with the right to speak with your journalist or not. you have the right to speak. the right to freedom of religion means the right to your belief system is not just church religion. it's whatever you believe you have a right in this country, a fundamental constitutionally protected right. to believe what you believe
8:38 pm
government does not have the right to punish you for your beliefs. and one thing that you see it here is they keep threatening that those who are creating these beliefs or this speech might lead to someone believing something that might lead to violence. or if that is the case and there is violence, then you charge the violence. you don't charge this idea that you have a belief in your head, and therefore you must be punished for that is utterly draconian on every level. and the truth is this. i'm glad you're talking about it today because folks need to stand up and say absolutely not. we have to rein in these, these branches of government and these government bureaucrats and departments that are running a mac right now and not following the law. we need to put the light and shine it bright onto these things because unfortunate once they actually put it into practice, it's too late. we need to let the american people know, let the world know exactly what is going on right now, involving free to his speech and the ability to question the government. ben, thanks for staying with us. as been mentioned, the freedom convoy, an ottawa continues,
8:39 pm
despite negative rhetoric from prime minister justin trudeau, threats of arrest ticketing, and a court injunction on honking, has gone in place in the city around john. heidi is on the ground, he's joining us at the latest most gaudy. i'm here at basically the staging area of what's been called the the so called freedom convoy. it started when truckers converge here, january 28th, 29th to protest. the country's vaccine mandates for truckers and really it's, it's more into a much greater protest over coven, 19 restrictions. really countrywide, here in canada, and i'm staying a little bit back. you know, behind me you could see where the, there's a vehicle there. there's a whole line of trucks here and let me kind of get out of the way. i'm gonna lady and show you. i'm staying back because it, it could get a little loud. there's somebody talking, there's not the music and there's certainly $11.00 thing i'm not hearing is the blaring of of car and the truck horns, which has really been kind of an issue of, of huge debate and, and contention among the residents who live here. that's why
8:40 pm
a class action lawsuit was filed and that really brought about this temporary injunction in which an auto, a judge by grant had basically as shutting down the noise for a minimum of 10 days, really in an effort to try to, to quell the overall protests well, that one that hasn't happened, what we have seen is along with support or showing up here every day. we've seen protest stretch across the rest of the country from ottawa to vancouver. also, i should mention the ambassador bridge. this is a very important point. it's an incredibly critical point of commer stretching from windsor ontario to detroit michigan. well, a conway truckers overnight monday and tuesday essentially stage a blockade there in solidarity with the truckers here. so this, this debate, this protest has, has morphed into a much greater debate, as i said about coven restrictions here in the country. and really also, it's become a political debate about freedom of speech, about the freedom of assembly, freedom of protest. scottie,
8:41 pm
you talked about the prime minister with some of the negative rhetoric. one thing during an emergency parliament hearing, by the way parliament in if you want to show parliament's right here during an emergency meeting on monday night, talked about the protest, talked about extremis elements here that as centrally referring to protest her as a swastika carrying people. the protestors i've talked to, i want to be very clear about something and i've talked to quite a few, not thousands of them, but quite a few since we've been here for 3 days. and they've been adamant that this is a peaceful protest. there have been some extreme s elements that have come here, but they say they shut that down. people who are like that have been to late that they don't want that message being essentially hijacked by anybody like that. and that's, that's been part of the concern, is it some of the support from outside the country? some of the foreign support, some of the media support, you know, that, that it's possibly bringing a bit of a kind of that extremist element. look, i've covered a lot of protest. god,
8:42 pm
there's always going to be that rest. but by and large, since we've been here, this has been a relatively peaceful protest. yes, there have been arrests for mostly mischief as it's called here. people are drinking, you know, they sometimes get rowdy, but what i have seen is at night there's not the blaring of cart of car horns or truck hoards. they've been very careful about that, but the protest does very much continue. and really that's the question is, how much longer will it continue? they want their voice is heard. i think their voices have been heard specifically another final point, 2 provinces. here in canada, alberta and saskatchewan are now reducing and basically acting some of these coven 19 restrictions in alberta. it was announced that q r codes will no longer be necessary. q r codes is what you have to show on your phone to prove your vaccinated. we have to do it basically you go into a restaurant, you have to show that or is foreign nationals. we have to show our vaccination card
8:43 pm
la berda just announced they're not doing it anymore. so whether or not scottie that stems from this protest, you know, that remains, that remains unclear. but what is clear is that the protest continues here on the ground. it continues in other parts of the country. and also we're seeing protests like this springing up worldwide in the united states in the u. k. in australia to name a few. not 2. wow. john, it's amazing. you've had an interesting, he went from a very energetic lot of things going on a few days ago. seems like it's coming down, it will be interesting as we get closer to the way the weekend if others start to come back in and you start to see the energy ramp back up again. i appreciate you being out there contain a cover for it. hopefully it stays peaceful, which is what it looks like. it's going to be thanks john. after the break, chris cuomo is now claiming a form of meeting. but instead of sexual harassment, he says he was dismissed. not because of his knowledge of his boss, of internal affair, but because of his bosses relationship with father. so does he have a boy? i don't see miles burg, joins us to this guy. as i think 71 with the world,
8:44 pm
one out of the out money standard, everybody, every entrepreneur, every business man, every country in the world has gotten addicted to mal investment has gotten addicted to accountability. and the idea that every single problem can be cured by simply printing more money. and now we're at a point where all of that balance vesman and all that waste has now resulted in a molecule prices, as discussed in this report, which is predictable. and it's also irreversible with one email they directly resell, evidently, says content to us and decide who sees what content when, and how much of it. facebook claims that these algorithms are there to learn about our specific preferences. actually,
8:45 pm
this is untrue than shaping preference. if tomorrow the person finds a fake point where the video was saying the flat, then this content ranks at least 20 percent or maybe even 40 percent or pretty than it truly was a very dangerous thing with ah, a new bill moving through the house and senate makes it clear, democrats are serious, and i don't think committed to securing the border. it's just on our own borders, instead of establishing operational control of our own border with mexico. the defending ukraine sovereignty act is all about security, ukraine,
8:46 pm
and bolstering is defense capabilities. now it also as a heap of sanctions against russia to punish any perceived undermining of ukrainian sovereignty. but a new competing legislation proposed by republican representative from montana mat rosendale is banning aid. suspending military and security obligations to ukraine and to the united states achieves operational control of the us border with mexico . all the while the by the ministration seems unwilling to handle the real situation south of the border. turning out, discuss, welcome, ned ryan, political commentator and former presidential speech writer. welcome ed. thanks scottie. oh, there's lots of pieces to this blast to say, hey, if this helps us get actually our southern border some attention. but all the enough, you know, once again it's democrats are the ones pushing for more and more involved in ukraine. but what makes someone spend so much on arming ukrainians and committed our armed forces to a potential war over there, instead of splitting these resources here at our southern border. the hypocrisy is
8:47 pm
pretty staggering. when you think about scotty, when these people are talking about defending ukraine's borders and its national sovereignty was the same time selling out america's borders and sovereignty. first of all, the american people have 0 desire. i mean, there's very few of the american people have any desire to be involved in any more foreign wars. they are done with this foreign intervention. they're done with our ruling class and our leaders, and i say leaders and quotes because i, i think most of them are completely misguided and they're supposed to leadership. but they're tired of our leaders having spent trillions of dollars on foreign intervention in nation building. as our country is crumbling, and i think this is the, the other part of that is pretty staggering to me when they're talking about all this money and sending troops and all these things about ukraine when our country is crumbling, bridges are collapsing, and our southern border is absolutely porous, and you have millions of illegals that have come in in the last year. and this
8:48 pm
administration, which i believe as lawless, has been helping facilitate distributing the legal throughout the country. so they had general moral authority to actually be making an argument to protect ukraine board borders and sovereignty. when in fact i think they are overtly and actively destroying our own well. and that's the thing, you know, i used to think this is just ignoring what was going on the board. they were mis handle, you know, i think they know exactly what they're doing intentional. this is exactly their plan from all along. and sir, they want to look like they're not doing the, but more importantly, they don't want people paying attention. i think this is why mat rosendale, who's a representative spots from the bill, told reporters us has no legal or moral authority to come to ukraine's aid in the us mentally crying. not only are you misuse of american tax dollars, but distracting from actual problems here at home, like the border crisis. does this have a chance of actually picking up steam, as many republicans are the ones that are joining this cry for war and support and ukraine, even more allow than they did when they had a chance at the border?
8:49 pm
yeah, well, 1st of all, scottie, i think a lot of republicans in congress are out of step with the base in regards to where their priority should be. let's not forget immigration and securing the southern board was one of the top 3 issues as to why donald trump one in 2016 and it's not going away. i still believe it's one of the top issues, not only in the mid term, but for 2024 as well. and at some point, we have to address the problem with the republican party. and i think you make a good point that we have too many republicans far more interested in being neo cons and foreign intervention that actually addressing and protecting the interests of the american people here at home. i think at some point we have to address this corporatism in this chamber of commerce element inside of the republican party, replace, hopefully as many as possible with america the 1st time to actually prioritize the american people's interest. because although we're really talking about scott, when people say america 1st, the shocking concept is how about we have leaders that actually prioritize the american people's interests, protect and in advance those using the american people's taxpayer dollars wisely,
8:50 pm
to do that, to advance and protect the american people's interests, and that's apparently a very shocking concept to many in dc, including republicans, enough is enough. and that's what i think a lot of the american people are demanding from both parties. why do you prioritize our interest 1st instead of another countries? well, and that's i think where people are scratching their heads right now with so many people, then you say it's near content stuff that's here in chamber commerce. i also have to look at those that are actually getting paid their donations that are coming in to many republicans saying this is why we need to, to base if they don't realize that you can only kick the dog. so much of the dog actually bites back, and that's what scares me so much. at this point, i said, we have enough crisis here at home, but it's always great to have this conversation with you. thanks, ned. speaking of a crisis, homelessness crisis in the san francisco bay area is now a so bad. residents are being asked to take in homeless people off the streets and how's them in their own homes? now politicians and charities claim locals want to be a part of the solution. but what incentives do they have based on past experiences?
8:51 pm
well for more, here's our 2 correspond paxton boyd. homelessness in the bay area is now such a problem that people are being urged to hand over their spare rooms to the homeless . local nonprofits such a safe time in east bay, a place more than 60 people in home since 2017. the mayor of richmond, located about 20 miles from downtown san francisco, set up a program to match homeless people with landlords who have empty apartment funded by private donations. that will pay up to a years rent upfront, to encourage them to forego credit employment and background checks. washington d. c is home to one of the largest homeless populations in the entire country. you see these 10 set up on the sidewalk here and we're only about 2 blocks away from the white house. now, according to the department of housing and urban development, there's about 6000 people in washington dc, experiencing homelessness. compare that to 30000 in the san francisco bay area and
8:52 pm
about 580000 nationwide. last year, many hotels in the bay area took advantage of the city and state incentives to house nearly 2000 of the homeless in the area. now there is tax money to buy hotels to permanently house the homeless, according to $5.00 keys, a nonprofit that runs one of the hotels dozens of tenants die due to overdose, is that of 8 sites in san francisco. largely attributed to the fentanyl crisis, sweeping the area and other parts of the nation, while reports of violence had been rare, steps have been trained with de escalation techniques. the schemes are just the latest attempt to solve san francisco's homeless problem, which in december, 4th, mayor london, breed to declare a state of emergency. more than $8000.00 people are currently believe to be homeless in the city. up from 5600 a decade ago. for news use you unpacks them, boyd well, $60000000.00. this is the possible asking price. a chris cuomo has is retribution
8:53 pm
for his unfair firing from cnn. with the entails an rti, america's own media watchdog coast of eat, the press. a steve malls berg $60000000.00. that's meghan lea. money on that when and she was harassed by a network president the remainder of couldn't contract to those see was only a 2000000. why is chris cuomo asking for up to $60000000.00 from warner media? how does he justify it? well, you talk about a golden parachute. i mean, this is insane. i, here's the deal. we're, we're getting reports. i just want to preface it. everything i say is reportedly that i've heard that i've read, i don't know anything 1st hand about this, but the reports are, you know, chris cuomo was reportedly fired because an investigation was done and it came out that he was advising his brother on how to handle public relations agree about accusations of with the of misconduct with women, et cetera. and that he lied about it to jeff sucker. and then it came out and they
8:54 pm
fired him. now, zucker, of course a car last week was fired himself. and the explanation was, well, i had an inappropriate sexual affair with the car with a fellow employee and i was required by warner media to disclose it. i failed to disclose it, so i quit. well then we find out that, hey, guess what? they fired him and they said you big, you'd better be out today. he wanted to stay on. no, you're gone. why? well, reportedly again, chris cuomo is kind of according to, to judge tappers analysis on holding the network hostage, or is it is acting like i again, according to were reportedly what tapper said at a meeting with the ceo of time warner acting like a terrorist. the terrorist is winning, is what tappers alleged to have said. because cuomo apparently knows stuff about zocker, which would be embarrassing enough to the network that he went to them and said, you know, get at this guy fired me for inappropriate behavior. conflict of interest. well
8:55 pm
guess what? he had his own conflict of interest. the sex story was a front. it didn't mean anything. there are reports that all along jeff sucker know that chris cuomo was advising his brother. was okay with it. and that jeff zach grant him sell might have been advising or dealing with or talking with his brother andrew cuomo, the former governor of new york. and didn't disclose that either. so this is so deep and so involved, but i'm not a lawyer. i still don't understand though, how if he was owed 18, how he would get 60 and i heard today on fox business that he really wants 80000000 . but he knows he'll never get $80.00 and what's the difference already $6080.00. so he's asking for 60, so this is a, can you talk about a can of worms, this is, i don't know what it is, but it's bigger than a can of worms. wow. and i get a things probably thinking that he's never gonna be able to work in,
8:56 pm
in the industry. who knows there's never say never. but i had to also one of the ethical from a journalist perspective and senior. and i've done this long enough politician versus a member of the family. is there anything unethical? is there anything illegal about advising somebody how to handle different? it doesn't matter real quick and last minute does it matter. now that all of those charges have been dropped against his brother. so there's actually no official charges being of a legal practice being persecuted, prosecuted. yeah, i think that's 2 separate issues. i think his brother andrew cuomo was thinking of running for office again for attorney general against the woman who did the report, charging him with all those allegations. that as you say, nobody's press those charges, no da is taken up and arrested him or anything like that. so that's one issue. i don't think they conflate, but i do believe that it, whether or not it turned out he did know nothing wrong. does it matter? i mean, you can't, i just think that there's too much of a connection there. you can have your brother on the air while people are dying and nursing home is make fun of everything that's going on. not mention it and then
8:57 pm
advise him on how to handle and also supposedly called around to other media members to find out dirt on the women who were accusing him. but if soccer knew this all along, that really is a whole different story. but steve, i think you couldn't watch and not realize that wasn't going on, that everybody knew that within the network, anybody watch it could. so just sit there and to say only one, i guarantee everybody did. but that's accountability that has to go on within that newsroom, and i'm thankful that i get to ask those questions to you. this brings us the close of today shout. let's continue the conversation on twitter at scottie and hughes hash tag team n b h. until we see you again, i'm kind of you say happy stay healthy. stay inform. thanks for watching. ah, the democratic republic of congo is among the richest countries in the world and natural resources, but he can normally it's still one of the poorest cobalt is an essential material
