7:00 pm
i came up with an idea of using kind of on buddy about of developing environment as a sort of file final reactor with as canada, as a freedom convoy, protest prepares to enter a 3rd week. the group ready itself for another challenge with the ontario government. now, trying to freeze access to another fundraising platform give send to go where freedom convoy 2022 has raised nearly 5000000 barrels jewel and gm store. i'm disappointed that we seem to have dialogue between a meet and a death person. the oppression and british diplomats appeared to have found no common ground on regional security concerns limit escalating tensions over ukraine as they met for urgent talks. and moscow and mainstream media
7:01 pm
has gone into overdrive in their reporting of alleged doping by a 15 year old russians figure skater. this is despite the international olympic committee warning that it's pure speculation also head with also had the entire newscast. you're watching our to international life from moscow shop. thomas certainly. what have you with us? are now russia's foreign minister says moscow's concerns expressed to british counterpart this trust fell on deaf ears as they met in moscow to discuss rising tensions over ukraine and the case threat to impose, quote, the toughest sanctions against russia. archers don court picks up the story. little sure, well tim, still i am disappointed that we seem to have dialogues between a mute and a deaf person. they seem to be listening, but don't hes, almost detailed explanations have fallen on rough ground. they say that russia is
7:02 pm
waiting for the soil to freeze and become like a stone so that tanks can pass safely into ukrainian territory. it seems that our british colleagues have the same soul to day, from which numerous facts that we cited of bounced. few people, if any, would call thursday's meeting, a productive one at the top of the agenda. of course, we're the proposals for security guarantees that moscow had put forward back in mid december. the main point of contention being that russia's asking nato not to move any farther eastward, specifically into the countries of georgia and specifically here ukraine. this is something that washington and nato have refused to do. and at the press conference lab, rob said that the west is negotiating exclusively on nato centric terms, and that they're unwilling to compromise. and simply that rush has been cheated for years when it comes to its national security and with relation to nato. now this also comes as the western media continues to carry out its campaign of hysteria around a legit plans for russian invasion of ukraine. this is something that leverett
7:03 pm
again reiterated. what moscow has said time and time again that it has no plans to invade anyone. it simply doesn't want ukraine to become a member state of nato. now on that point, leverage also said that kia has become actually a geopolitical pawn and a western dame to destabilize russia. let's take a listen. what he said, you demolition up with them. okay. you're gam, apparently a western colleagues need president zalinski only as a tool to pull russia out of balance that none seem interested in what he thinks negative consequences from oldest hysteria are impacting ukraine's economy in the national budget city of steel. to see these students now as for trust, she said that her goal in moscow was to make as much progress as possible for a diplomatic solution. but right from the get go, she started accusing russia of being aggressive and of trying to undermine what she called ukrainian democracy. most shocking of all though is that she demanded that russia prove that it's not being aggressive. talk about guilty until proven
7:04 pm
innocent minister lateral has said to me to day that russia have no plans to invade ukraine. we need to see those words followed up by actions is vitally important that the u. k. in its nato allies are prepared for all event humanities, now lever. i've also commented on a specific narrative of the west's ante, russia hysteria, specific story that's been going around the media claiming that russia has some concrete plans to lay siege to ukrainian cities, set up a puppet government, and even set up camps for disloyal ukrainians. use speak with you at superficial with you for the world. there is speculation, even in some respects, media about some suppose it operation that we're preparing to seize kids and all the other cities of ukraine. both will that some kind of crew is being prepared to install a puppet regime. so in the ukrainian capital, all this is from the narrative of so called highly likely group as we should
7:05 pm
include the local. it's also important to keep in mind that for some time now the u . k has been supplying ukraine with some heavy weapons just last month, a shipment of n law, anti tank missile systems landed in ukraine and as early as wednesday, we actually saw another shipment of anti tank missile systems for fall into the hands of the ukrainian military. now while the u. k says that these are purely for defensive purposes. who knows what these weapons could be used for once they're in the hands of the ukrainian military, especially after a meeting like this one. britton's top diplomat appeared to be in need of a geography lesson during her talks with love rav reportedly confusing to russian regions with another 2 in neighboring ukraine. you do recognize russia sovereignty over the rust of foreigners regions. thank you. the united kingdom will never recognise russian sovereignty over those regions. those do have always been unquestionably part of russia. a fact that seemingly confused the case for the
7:06 pm
secretary. but despite the trust, apparently apologizing for the mistake, it sparked a wave of criticism on the internet. with many thing, it was on becoming for the highest ranking diplomat to make such a blunder. some wondered how she could go into the official talks and not even know the names of the regions. she would discuss. former british home office minister norman baker explained that all of this caps and nato's 5 waves of expansion to my colleague, den hawkins. perhaps not very good. i mean, that's the reality of it. she's brought to the new in the post. not somebody pointed out to try to do so, but look at the whole situation a deeply on elbow. she wasn't probably brave to st. we've got the situation on the ground whereby them the you can us dolly of the rhetoric but also going to to, to a, she was on the russian troops on the board of what reason? we don't know. so i don't think it's like, and this was on credit to be on the moment. do you think that most kids become
7:07 pm
increasingly frustrated? it feel that it's being driven into a corner perhaps with what's going on? i think an object to view of the, of the ration development specially recent over the last 1020 years has been clearly that countries which were pretty was associated with them. so in union have one after the other become members of nature or the geography of the area. clearly you created extremely close to incentives and that will be just extra russia next to others. so i can understand why the sentence, the rush is my bill. certain by that equally, it has to be said however that you end up a situation where to to, to be adopting rather how style style, optimistic reasons. so both sides to the movement. appearance of an interest in driving the rhetoric, the world of the interest of math and both sides need to back down a bit. meanwhile, as the top diplomats were trying to maintain peace in moscow,
7:08 pm
british prime minister boris et johnson met with the head of nato in brussels as the u. k. plans to boost its military presence in eastern europe or chief shot to edwards dusty reports. even though british officials are wanting russia to stop the cold war rhetoric, it seems more of was really happening in the west between nato. and indeed, boris johnson in joint press conference earlier today, the number of russian forces is going up. the warning time for a possible attack is going down. this is probably the most dangerous moment. i would say that in the course of the next few days in what is the biggest security crisis that europe has facebook for decades. and today i agreed with the secretary general, a package of support sending troops claims and ships to defend. they towed from north to south 350 troops to poland. already there's a 100 in the country and
7:09 pm
a 1000 more troops to be made available to nato. so troops already on the move and the prime minister certainly didn't rule out sending even more if a need when be on the east in front. he also says a sturdier has also further support in the united kingdom are ready to then provide with that support. meanwhile, of the nato secretary general, he's considering the possibility of moving even into romania, putting troops in romania, particularly near the black sea and looking to increase its presence in poland. we know bars, johnston is now in poland, talking to lee. is that about the situation too? but it's not just boots on the ground. this also talks of sanctions. of course, the government now says it's ready to publish a legislation on possible russian sanctions that includes new powers to talk, individuals or entities. they're linked to the russian states than the government seems to think that they can become law without any parliamentary approval or even
7:10 pm
any scrutiny. so it's certainly feels like the tensions are on the rise all the while. of course, it's important to reiterate, the russia has always denied any vision of an invasion of ukraine. so in times of forest johnson been on the one hand, he speaks of d escalating and that the move towards diplomacy is all about talking. we know he's sending delegates to moscow on the other hand. bars johnson and the united kingdom are committing to sending troops, add to the region, uneven heavy economic sanctions as well. there is an anxious wait for a response from the international olympic committee regarding media claims of doping in the russian figure skating team. and it's daily morning briefing, thursday, the ios, he called those reports pure speculation and said that it won't comment while a probe was ongoing. over whether teen skating sensation camilla valley ever failed a drug test 2 months ago. now across developments for us in beijing is ortiz electra or shasky. the only official information or are the official comments we've
7:11 pm
heard so far, came from the spokesperson of the i o. c. mark adam said he explicitly said that this was a legal case and even addressing a direct question about whether this was a doping case or doping allegation, he said that for now everything doping related remains purely a speculation. the room must have it at the i figure k to in question is camille of oliva of r o. c team, who was absolutely stella, only ice last weekend, winning gold with the russian figure skating team. but for the 1st time in olympic gangs history, the metal ceremony has now been postponed for almost 4 days now. and this is of course, causing a lot of speculation of we also heard from the spokesperson off the russian figure skating union, who told us that camille of oliva was not suspended from the participation at these olympic games in beijing. she will continue but dissipating. yeah. moreover,
7:12 pm
if i leave a herself a 15 year old skate, i took to the ice this morning in a training session, which is already a good sign. we've already been receiving wards of support for camila oliva in this very difficult situation. camila believe as program at the european championships made me want the short program to be a little longer. what a wonderful skater if her performance didn't inspire the whole world to take up figure skating? i don't know. what would the talk of the town and i spoke to both ex figure skaters, and journalists and experts available at the venue that this may be already delivering a very serious stole psychologically on the russian ice figure, skating team and the whole r o c olympic team. in general, for instance, i can only assume this is related, but during the male figure skating performance this morning, all 3 of our o c's status failed during that performance says it's not something you see every
7:13 pm
day when all members of the team mess off their performances so it might be the case off the team already going through a very serious psychological situation here. but of course we are anxiously waiting for any statement from the i o. c. this situation is expected to be result during this day, and of course i'll be keeping you updated with all the news in beijing as soon as i get it. although it's still unclear what precise legal issues delayed the metal ceremony for the russian figure, skaters, american news broadcaster sienna, named and shamed, the athlete at the center of the issue. despite any official ruling seen, it has learned that a russian figure skater has failed a drug test, and that person is a minor russian olympic athlete, supposedly tested positive as am i supposed to be surprised at seen and broadcast at volley of of name and her photo while plastering her with the accusations and other mainstream media outlets have followed suit headlines made sure to link the youngster's name with doping. despite nothing, having been confirmed,
7:14 pm
extra attention was paid to volume of us returned to training at the olympic facilities. legal and the media analyst, lionel says the way seen and handled. the coverage is despicable if you watch this and i don't suggest anybody does, but if you want to see absolutely the most biased a unconfirmed speculation. first of all, she's a minor and the last i checked one of the reasons for the a legit secrecy to protect a 15 year old and we know everything we know just try mentality and we know the drug. we know her name. oh, but, but by the way, she's a minor to imagine the pressure of anybody to be the olympics. imagine then be 15 years old. but imagine that you are right now in the, the, the cross hairs of this media microscope. and you theoretically haven't been accused of anything, it's almost as though,
7:15 pm
and i'm merely speculating because after all, see it and love speculation. so i'm going to speculate, it's almost like saying, listen, if you enjoy your time here speaking on behalf of say, the, this olympic event. it would really behoove you to say as much as you can to insinuate to imply to basically impugn and, and indict russia based on nothing. let's face it, they have found russia guilty by virtue of some body of evidence. we have not been made privy to. it's despicable washington rings. the alarm over an alleged rise in the threat of domestic terrorism in the u. s, but some say it's a political stunt more. this have short break. this is our international
7:16 pm
1971. when the world one out of the out money standard, everybody, every entrepreneur, every business man, every country in the world has gotten addicted to mal investment as gotten addicted to accountability. and the idea that every single problem can be cured by simply printing more money. and now we're at a point where all of that mal investment and all that waste has now resulted in a molecule prices, as is discussed in this report, which is predictable. and it's also irreversible. apparently, rushes invasion of ukraine is not so eminent. after all, none the less, washington in london continue to beat the drums of war. many europeans think otherwise, they are the ones with the most to lose in any conflict. they are also the ones pushing diplomacy
7:17 pm
with welcome back. this is our to international. now, as protests, paralyzing candidates, capital city move into a 3rd week, officials are looking at ways to deter support. the government is trying to freeze access to another fundraising platform. give send to go. where freedom convoy 2022 has already raised nearly $5000000.00 for protesters as a blockade has caused a major disruption to supply chains of major car companies like ford and toyota, with the conway. also splitting the country into for and against caps are t correspondent, john honey, reporting from ottawa. more like a dance party than better protest right now. i mean, to be honest with you, which has really been the case over the last few days. look auto. a police say that
7:18 pm
the situation is volatile. the protestors here the truckers determined if one thing is true, it's that the supporters of this protest and those that are here are determined they're determined for their voices and their demands to be heard as far as volatility. ah, we know that police have made some arrest, but overall it's been a very like over the weekend, there were balancing hassles here and there are families coming here. i described it as almost like a winter carnival type festival. that's really been what it's like a lot of music. there's going to be a rapper routing here in a short time. so that's been the overall vibe. but the pointed to protest is basically it started with truckers converging upon the city here january 28th in iowa. are fighting against mandatory vaccinations for the trucking industry, it's really morphed into a much greater protest over canada's coven 19 restrictions. and now a pretty fiery and intense debate about canada's freedom of speech. freedom of assembly, freedom of protest, rules and policies on that in mind. it's also an extraordinary situation for police
7:19 pm
while they've stepped up. enforcement measures issuing more tickets, making some arrest, mostly people that are drunk and disorderly for what they call mischief. ah, there's a very difficult situation. and how do you get all these trucks? hundreds of big rigs with trailers. how do you move them out of the city? if they have no plans on leaving local tow truck companies have said you're not using us. we have to work with these guys. we don't want to be seen doing this and somebody even told me we stand in support of these truckers so it's a very, very difficult situation for police. in fact, one, calgary police officer said it should be in there. there's a fine line between policing and politics. what is happening in ottawa, with the clear political influence on the police? physically exert political will on peaceful protesters for nothing more than possible political gain is so very wrong on so many levels. i was
7:20 pm
just following orders is no longer an excuse. it is time to stand up and speak out by refusing to preach your fellow citizens fundamental charter rights. you signed up to help people stand with your fellow canadians and say enough is enough and luck. the majority of the protesters way talk to and we've talked to many including trackers say have, have really maintain that this is a peaceful protest. in fact, we heard a little while ago, there are a groups of police coming in here, and we heard one of the organizer sang, given the wiper folks, we don't want to do anything. they're just doing their jobs respect, and let's not try to intimidate then there's more of us then there are of them and relate. that's the point. this has been a massive protest over the weekend. thousands of people here. it's a little bit scale down. we're seeing hundreds of people, but none the less supporters men, women, children, continue to come here from all over the country. and we've seen the protest spread
7:21 pm
all over the country. there's right now a blockade going on on a very important bridge. the ambassador bridge, which is a main commerce point between canada and the united states, stretching from windsor ontario into detroit, michigan. and it's disrupted the financial flow about $300000000.00 worth of goods goes across this bridge on a daily basis. so much so that toyota announced that it had to shut down the man, in fact, several production plants due to the ongoing blockade, but none the less vag said protesters maintain, this is a peaceful organization. it's a peaceful demonstration. still, canadian officials, including the prime minister and other federal and local officials, have lambasted the ongoing movement, the ongoing protest, and the pastor protesters including one ottawa city council member. here's what he . she had to say carney referred to it as sedition today. i think that's exactly what it is. this is theresa. really an insurrection?
7:22 pm
it's a, it's an attack on our democracy. it's an attack on our federal government. the so called freedom convoy protest began when a convoy of trucks converged upon and rolled into ottawa, canada's capital city. january 28th and 29, protesting mandatory vaccination rules for the trucking industry for truckers. but since then it's more into a much greater political debate and fight over coven 19 restrictions country wide. and it's also sparked a fiery political debate about canada's freedom of speech. freedom of protest and freedom of assembly laws. we stayed focused on following the science on her promoting public health rules and canadians stepped up in their communities. they stepped up for the front line health workers. they stepped up for each other and canada has been never been so strong and together as we are now again to protesters here the supporters maintain that this is about their rights. you hear the word
7:23 pm
freedom out there a lot and they continue to contend this is a peaceful organization of people and we have seen families coming here over the weekend. there were bouncy, castles, there were a cook out. so obviously it would be a bad form for the police to come in here like gang busters, and try to take all of that down. and also, they say that this is a movement that, or at least a protest that has garnered not national attention, certainly protest across the country. even internationally. we've seen similar convoys in the united kingdom and france and australia, new zealand. we're also hearing about chatter and talk about something similar potentially happening in the united states. a convoy, maybe even stretching from california, going to washington d. c, possibly disrupting the super bowl or even president joe biden state of the union speech on march 1st. that remains to be seen, but one thing is very clear. this protest continues here on the ground, in ottawa and other parts of canada. meanwhile,
7:24 pm
the government has promised to send more resources and officers to disperse demonstrations that have spread across the country. halting ports that supply u. s. border states along with michigan, including north dakota and montana, cut off from canada during 14 days of anti vaccine meant a protest. but as official accusations of insurrection and even treason fly in their direction, one trucker stressed to us the support, the protest has received from the people of ottawa. from what i gather, the majority of the residents of auto that i have spoken to personally are overwhelmingly in support of us being here. many, many auto residents have walked up and down the street pass my truck. many have stopped to talk to me and like 99 percent is not hire of them all. thank us for being here. they support us. they ask if we need anything.
7:25 pm
we are well fed. we have lots of fuel, a nice lady that lives just down the road, came to me a few days ago. asked if i needed anything. and i said, well, i could use some laundry being done. so she took all my laundry, went home washed, it bolted it and returned it the next day. it's things like that that are happening throughout every day. it's just over whelming, kayla and driving a supporter of the freedom convoy. protests says people will stay and rally until their freedoms are restored. it would have been a, a per, practical convoy that wasn't disrupting things. i think that's the point of the convoy so that it encourages the powers that be to make rash and very quick decision decision and, and not sit there and avoid the, the issue. and yes, it is going to disrupt things and this puts more pressure. everyone knows that if you have, you have the right to protest and you have
7:26 pm
a right to protest peacefully. this comes down to where we waited 2 years to have a plan in place to have our voices heard by speaking with our elected officials. and it fell on deaf ears and because of that, it has take it, it has to take a lot for canadians to have to drive from coast to coast into ottawa to have their voices heard. and that's why they bow to stay there until they lift the mandates of these restrictions that are, are faced and restore the canadians rates and freedoms. we have a charter rights and freedoms that should be protected. and unfortunately, our government has, has taken advantage of that. pandemic, and that's why they're there to stay there until they are restored. the u. s. department of homeland security has alerted americans that there is a heightened risk of domestic terrorism, fueled by conspiracy theories, and other misinformation spread online and inspiring unrest and potential acts of violence. the u. s. remains in a heightened threat environment,
7:27 pm
fueled by several factors, including an online environment filled with false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories amplified by foreign and domestic threat actors. these threat actors seek to exacerbate societal friction to so discord and undermine public trust in government institutions to encourage unrest. the government says the main threat is from so called lone wolf extremists or small groups acting on ideological beliefs or personal grievances with potential targets being critical infrastructure in crowd crowded public areas. such sentiments are allegedly stirred up by misleading narratives about widespread election fraud and the coverage pandemic. and it seems it may also affect officials as a scandal or up to after republican congressmen. troy nails claimed that under cover please dressed as construction workers knocking to his office and took pictures inside. the alleged incident happened after the official spoke out about security failures had the capital at last year's january 6 riots. the congressmen

also voted to overturn president joe barton's electoral victory in the hours after a former president. trump's supporters, a storm capital. earlier we spoke to american journalists, chris hedges, who claim it's the democrats who are again crying. wolf diverting attention one to the ukraine. ah, but also to domestic terrorism, this is the playbook, the democrats are using to essentially cope with a deep frustration. we know that from the polls, i mean, biden's approval rating this plummeted. and so, as diverting attention, i think away from how ineffectual this administration has been to address the very pressing needs on the american public. democrats are demonizing and attacking trump. supporters not just trump supporters, but people who are dissatisfied with a democratic inability of the democratic administration to address the very

pressing economic and social needs. so yeah, i mean, this is just one more example of this widening polarization which is so dangerous for that. does it for me? i'll be back in about 31 minutes with another full and fresh look tuesday with us, or to international mm. with bring you the very latest every out the day. this is all now snow from everyone here with
